Although this was part of a gas station/convenience store, it was quiet. The room was larger than most in Europe. It was clean, a/c worked well and we felt safe in our room. It was quite a hike from one of the bus stations and the people hanging out around the station/store were a little sketchy. Check-in was quick and the receptionist was very nice, carrying our luggage up the stairs and to the room.

The reception area was convenient and the check in process was easy. The gentleman escorted me to the room and explained which doors would be available during evening hours. He also gave a brief explanation of how everything in the room worked (lights, air conditioning) and pointed out the refrigerator as well as the coffee maker and condiments. The touch of leaving a couple of water bottles in the refrigerator for us was very much appreciated.

Guest service was great. At check in we were walked to our room and showed how the lights work, fridge, coffee and 2 bottles of free water. We chose this hotel because it was close to the War museum and downtown. This hotel was connected to small grocery store and gas station which was nice and parking was free.

This motel is a hidden gem, the welcome was extremely warm as was the service. Very professional staff, extremely helpful providing great facilities which are very clean. Breakfast was very well presented with fresh produce etc. There is a mini supermarket underneath the motel which has regional products and an incredible range. Do not be put off by the adjacent petrol station, it provides ample parking and your car is watched over by CCTV. The location is very close to the main square and within easy walk of all shopping and restaurants. We will definitely be staying here again!

Very Nice!

We stayed here during our whirlwind tour of Europe. It was surprisingly good, given it's situated over a gasoline station. The soundproofing was really good, too. Breakfast was a little lacking. No elevator so we had to carry our large suitcases up a long flight of stairs (equivalent to two stories). The room was comfortable and the shower and bathroom were very nice. The A/C didn't work properly, but that could have been because of the season when we visited. Close to the \"town center\" where the restaurants are clustered.

This was a self booked, explore of Bastogne to satisfy my WWII interests. Don't let the location (above a gas station/convenience store) discourage you. Staff was GREAT! Thanks to Amory for an easy check-in and OMG Carine! She went out of her way to make it easy, fun and memorable to her non-french speaking guests. Highly recommended if you are exploring the area. Motel in a gas station, but we liked it

It's an interesting place in the parking lot of a gas station/convenience store. It seemed a be strange at first, but the rooms were clean, the WiFi was fast and the night was quiet. We were in Bastogne to tour some military sights and just needed a place to stay the night. This fit the bill and the breakfast was also good (10 Euro). It seemed that most of the other guests were middle aged motorcycle guys from England. Not sure if this is always the case. Of all our European lodging, this was the most unusual, but in the end we liked it. And it was easy to fill our tank the next day.

1st class motel stay, like a 4* hotel!

Best hotel we've ever had for the price. Wonderful large room, attractive decor, comfy bed, fantastic large shower room with hot radiator and drying rack. Personally shown how everything worked by reception guy - it makes such a difference to be given personal demonstration of how everything works - show, don't just tell, or leave you to flounder working it out for yourself. Class actually from all the staff. Great value breakfast for €10 served by super friendly, kindly lady who explained everything to us, and brought us delicious coffee.
Motel was on a road intersection a short walk from Bastogne centre, and had everything a traveller might need, all in one place, including best ever room, great value breakfast, one stop shop, and petrol station -and delightful staff, all on the one site. Seems a bit bizarre at first, but try it, you'll love it, thoroughly recommended. We keep comparing every other stopover to Merceny at Bastogne, and they all come up short in one way or another.

I would have given 5 stars but there was an issue with the shower.. No cold water so it was quite difficult to deal with just hot water. Room was very clean and beds comfy. The young man that checked us in was awesome. We had left the key in the room, you have to use the card attached to the key for the lights to work and I forgot it was in the light activation slot when we left. Even though they close at 10 when we got back to the room around 10:15 the attendant who checked us in was just about to leave and helped us get back in the room. He is a credit to your company!

A hotel at a petrol station?
OMG what have we booked, it's only for one night was the first thoughts.

We arrived and found it to be clean and ample parking, the reception was good, with clear information about our rooms and breakfast.

The rooms were clean and spacious, the shower was both a rain and wand shower.

The breakfast consisted of buffet style breakfast, the lady who was serving, was polite and quick, the breakfast was nice and fresh.

This hotel is a hidden gem. While accommodations are fairly basic, the location is excellent and gas and a grocery store are steps away. The staff was very friendly and helpful and the buffet breakfast was small but fresh and tasty. The freshly made coffee was honestly the best I've ever had. The only slight drawback was the electric was a bit tricky and wouldn't always turn on the first day but it seemed to fix itself before I needed to call the front desk. Not sure if that is an on-going issue. Highly recommended in any case.

Nice room in a hotel connected to a gas station

The room itself was spacious and pretty nice. However, the motel was actually connected to gas station/convenience store! Think of a QT or Pilot having rooms about the store and you will get the idea. The reception and breakfast area were in the store. I literally have no recollection of seeing this information before booking the property.

The other problem was that there was an outside, but enclosed, hallway that connected the rooms. Outside each room was a smokers trash can. Since we were at the end of the hallway, we had to go through a gauntlet of smoke smell every time we entered/exited our room.

One thing to be aware of it that the rooms are on the second floor, and there is no elevator. If you have trouble managing about 20 steps I would avoid this property.

Hotel is conveniently located on the edge of Bastogne giving easy access to the surrounding countryside and to the downtown area. I was there to tour the entire Battle of the Bulge Campaign area, which required a lot of driving over the two and one half days I was there. This Hotel fit the bill perfectly for what I wanted. Room was spacious, well appointed and clean. Breakfast was available at 600 am which enabled me to hit the road early. The hotel is part of convenience store and gas station complex which is unusual for a European City, but it worked very nicely in this case. I would easily recommend this hotel to anyone who is exploring the larger Battle of the Bulge Campaign Area.

There is parking enough for all 8 rooms. 100m from Patton Memorial and very central location. They service towels at 10am every day as there is no \"Do Not Distur\" hanger. Only \"Rice Sack\" (heavy and hard) Pillows available.
Will defiantly book again though.

A hotel on top of a petrol station might not be your first choice but like us, you’ll be pleasantly surprised. No noise or smell from the garage below...we’ll equipped and maintained rooms no more than a 3-5 minute walk from the town square...free parking with a shop within the garage if you wanted a snack in your room. Couldn’t fault it!

Easy to find and plenty of parking. Being next to the Q8 garage is useful for getting snacks and picnic stuff.
Excellent check in and very helpful guy with excellent English. The room was a decent size, very quiet and it had a kettle and decent wifi with easy to understand heating controls for a nice change. Decor was plain but the polished concrete in the bathroom is very practical. The location was good, maybe a 5 minute walk to MacAuliffe Square and the cafes there. Very good value. Breakfast was very good downstairs - a decent choice and bargain price.

A surprising stay. We could not find the hotel at first as it was at a roadhouse. The service people were very helpful and friendly. The room was comfortable and had a good sleep. The towels in the bathroom can certainly be upgraded as they were very small and thread bare. An extra pillow would have helped.

When I booked this hotel I was drawn to it because it's just south of the centre, close to road network and had parking as I was driving. The hotel is easily accessible and still central to Bastogne without encountering traffic restrictions or congestion. It's attached to a petrol station and shop on a crossroads. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was modern ,spotless and equipped with all you might expect and need. It was also very quiet and soundproof as there was no noise from traffic heard in the room. Also it was good value. The shop is well stocked and has all you need including refreshments , hot drinks and food on your doorstep. I had an excellent stay.

The hotel is part of a gas/snack bar, package store. The rooms are upstairs and facing the back. There is no lift but the stairs are large. There is free parking on site. The room was very large with a large washroom. The windows were double paned which is rare in Europe. They kept most of any noise down. The air conditioning was great in the 90F plus weather. The snack bar had fresh croissants etc in the morning at very reasonable pricing. You can walk to the center of town where there are over 50 restaurants

Don't be put off by appearances

Its situation behind a petrol station between two busy roads doesn’t augur well but be prepared to be surprised. First of all we received a very warm welcome and were shown to our rooms. The bedroom and bathroom were both spacious and clean, complete with kettle and coffee machine and there was a chocolate on each pillow. Importantly we could hardly hear any traffic and looked out away from the petrol station. The bed proved to be very comfortable and long enough for us 6 footers (183cm). There was aircon too which we hardly needed but in the heat of the summer would be good. It reminded us of Premier Inn in the UK. More coffee was provided when we ran out. It was only 5 minutes walk from the main town square with plenty of restaurants (and in fact there were two good restaurants next door as well).
They were able to put our bikes in a storage room which was only accessible by the staff. We were also able to leave our panniers there next morning when we went into town briefly after checking out.
Breakfast was in the shop/cafe in the petrol station and there was a good selection. It might not have been the absolute top quality but it was very acceptable. Great stay.

Do not let the location dissuade you. This hotel is attached but behind a gas/convenience store. The room was wonderful and quiet. it is very close to downtown Bastogne and close to World War I and II sites. Easy free parking with reservation, breakfast was not included but was a nominal 8EU pre person fee. It was one floor up, no elevator. Room was clean and most of the staff speak some English. There is also a separate entrance to the room.

Clean, pleasant, right in the middle of Bastogne.

This is definitely a motel and not a hotel, but as long as you understand that, it’s fine. Sometimes it is about expectations :-) you check in at a gas station then go upstairs to sleep. It’s very clean and neat and I would recommend this to any friend and stay there again. They have a nice breakfast downstairs that was eight euro per person, and had anything that you could want. But understand that you will be eating in the middle of a gas station minimat! I am laughing as I am typing this because that sounds so funny, but it’s true. I would recommend this hotel easily to anyone and I would stay there again because of its friendly staff, cleanliness, and proximity to everything we wanted in downtown Bastogne. Go to the war museum at the edge of town. You won’t work read I am laughing as I am typing this because that sounds so funny, but it’s true. I would recommend this hotel easily to anyone and I would stay there again because of it’s friendly staff, cleanliness, and proximity to everything we wanted in downtown Bastogne. Go to the war museum at the edge of town. You won’t Regret it.

Like a 7-11 with motel...

This place is a gas station, mini-market and motel - motel rooms are above the store. Nice rooms, friendly staff and located close to center of Bastogne.

Great location. Right about a gas station and mini mart. That sounds funny but it was ideally located.. Parking was easy and the rooms were soundproof. Staff was excellent and breakfast was fresh and good.

Nice!

We had just come from an old, small, unclean room in Paris and this was like paradise! Large, wonderful room and bathroom, clean, quiet and spacious, nice location. Read others' reviews about the surprise of being so pleasant despite being above a gas station and it's true, convenient being able to shop downstairs. There need to be more Le Merceny Hotels; alas, this is the only one.
