Excellent location, charming place and would definitely recommend staying during the fall (however be aware of the date that hotel shuts down as the services are cut) upshot is that there are less tourist from bus, boat arriving during the end of the season

historic hotel in charming Durnstein

We had a wonderful stay in this lovely inn. Our room was spacious and comfortable. I could have stayed in all day to enjoy the view of the Danube.
Dinner on the terrace was excellent and featured fresh and seasonal dishes. The breakfast buffet offered excellent variety and quality too.

Hotel is on beautiful grounds. Room was lovely and clean. It was very nice to have a nice outdoor balcony. Durnstein and the Wachau Valley is absolutely stunning. We rented bikes from the hotel for our three days while at the hotel....it was fantastic exploring the area, the bike paths are great! Only complaint is that the rooms do not have air conditioning and the weather was very hot....had to keep the sliding door open and because there was no screen it waa hard to keep flies out.

We loved our 3-night stay in this charming historic hotel! We had a suite perfect for our family of four, a welcome respite after a long flight from the United States. Breakfast was lovely and the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Be sure to take advantage of the bike rentals to ride along the path by the river, incredible views! We would love to return one day!

overprized hotel in beautiful place but average condition. Terrible pillows, not blackouts on the windows, average breakfast with older bread , definitely not worth 287 euros per night ..

In the heart of Durnstein. Walking distance to numerous vineyards, including the Domane Wachau, which we highly recommend! The hotel has free parking and the staff was very helpful at assisting us through the little village and parking. Very beautiful grounds with lots of history.

Lovely historic hotel in Durnstein

This is a unique, wonderful hotel in a historic property in picturesque Durnstein. We enjoyed the beautiful grounds and pool and the unique hotel. The location is central in small Durnstein, which is a great homebase for exploring the Wachau Valley.

Very nice old historic hotel was a convent

Old historic hotel but clean comfortable rooms. New updated bathroom. Very nice grounds and outside eating patio. Breakfast was very nice.
Lunch was disappointing. We had the Caesar salad with chicken. It was iceberg lettuce with about 11/2 to 2 ounces of chicken, 3 small cherry stone tomatoes cut in half. For 15 euros. The waiter also brought us 2 rollls that were brought to the table with the meal. When we received the bill we had to pay for the rolls, that should have been part of the meal. The draft beer was very good the glass of Riesling wine was fair. Not a good indication of what is produced locally. The waiter wanted us to buy a bottle. That would be a mistake. We were so put off by the skimpy salad we were afraid to have supper. We ate else were.
Still a beautiful hotel in a great setting.

Magnificent location with limited welcome

I love to write favorable reviews. This hotel has wonderfully located directly on the Danube in a very small village. We loved the location, our room with a view, and the large pool in an expansive garden. BUT, with the exception of the housekeepers and one junior waiter, we felt unwelcome. We were baffled because this is a tourist destination but the hotel appears to have no culture of hospitality towards it's guests. The maitre'd was overtly rude and the owner wandered the halls scowling and muttering. She emerged to say a gracious goodbye but previous encounters with her had left us feeling as if we had somehow made a huge faux pas. We're seasoned travelers and go out of our way to be friendly and gracious. Didn't work for us this time.

Wonderful exerience!

A beautiful property, former convent. We had a large room overlooking the garden on the Danube side. Parking in the courtyard was extremely convenient. Excellent dinner of traditional cuisine with a very good wine recommendation.

We had one night in the Deluxe Double Room, and it was a wonderful stay. The room was big and clean, exactly the same as shown on the web, the hotel staffs were very friendly, breakfast was nice. Great location, very close to the bus stop and train station. Would love to stay there again!

Stunning setting, highly recommend!

If you are entertaining the idea of visiting Wachau Valley, staying in Durnstein is a good idea as it is fairly centrally located. More importantly, it doesn't get any more charming than this.

We loved the setting of Hotel Richard Lowenstein. Picture perfect, just like what you hope you will experience when visiting a charming small Central European town. The hotel, its restaurants, terrace and English garden are overlooking the Danube river; the garden and its pool area are set against old city walls. The facilities had a calming, tranquil atmosphere overall. It is also a great place to stay if you are cycling through the area (there was a Backroads tour crew and guests at this hotel).

Breakfast was included and it was fabulous.

One of the evenings we stayed there was chilly, and the lobby had a roaring fire going in its fireplace, with cozy chairs and tables around it and people hanging out.

I think the rooms could use more comfort. Most hotels in Central Europe are spartan in terms of decor and comforts, but for a place like this I would have expected at least a pillow that supports my neck. In fact, lots more pillows. The bathrooms work, but are tacky and very cheaply put together. Mattresses are not great. Don't expect lavish room furnishings. But then, you won't be spending much time inside.

All in all, I would stay at the same place again.

Wundervoller Aufenthalt, super Garten mit tollem Pool, Personal ist sehr gut, sehr freundlich und sehr verbindlich egal in welchem Bereich, wunderbares Frühstück, schöne Zimmer mit schönem Balkon. Das einzige Manko ist eine fehlende Minibar bzw Kühlmöglichkeit im Zimmer. Sonst alles perfekt!

Fantastisk morgenmad- alt lækkert!
Dog mangler byen nogle flere spisesteder til aftesmad.
Desværre lukkede hotellets Bistro kl 16.00!

Veldig spesiell hotell som delvis ligger i det gamle klosteret i Dürnstein, i et bygg som tidligere tilhørte klosteret.

Veldig kult interiør, enestående frokost og fantastisk beliggenhet i Dürnstein.
Mye gode vin opplevelser rett ut døren; smaking god Domäne Wachau og middag på Küffer Keller er et must!

Infobrosjyren på rommet forteller at de ikke har AC fordi murveggene er så tykke at det ikke er nødvendig - i juli 2024 stemte dette dessverre ikke.
Vi måtte sove med altandør åpen, noe som hadde vært ok om det hadde vært litt kaldere ute (og om robotene (gress og basseng) hadde vært litt stillere).
Men slik det var ble søvnkvaliteten sub-par.

確かに、部屋の大きさや設備からすると値段は割高ですが、ヨーロッパの雰囲気を味わいながら、のんびりとプール横やテラスで過ごすのは最高

ちょっとお高めでしたが価値のあるホテルでした！

ホテルの廊下などには古い家具など展示され、博物館のようでした。
部屋はバルコニー付きで、山と川が見えてまるで高原のような感じで視界に建物がないので、カーテン不要で、凄い解放感でした！
エアコンがないので、夜暑くて窓を開けることになりました。これが唯一のマイナスでしたが結果的には虫も入る事無くて、初めから開けて寝たほうがいいみたいです！
田舎なので、交通の便についての情報がないので、レセプションに相談したのですが、65以上と思われる優しいおばあさんが時刻表まで印刷してバスや鉄道での移動方法を教えてくれ、とても助かりました！
村は小さいが歴史あり、居心地いいところだと思います。

Very noisy

I thought the place was very good when I arrived the hotel. The room had good view and the town is very pretty.
However, our room was irradiated too bright light (beam) from the opposite side of the river since the early evening. Then we had to close the curtain, and we could not enjoy the beautiful scenery. Then the very loud musics started. It was very noisy although we shut the twofold windows. It continued to the mid night.

3泊4日滞在しましたが、一週間位もっとゆっくり滞在したいホテルです。地元の食材を使った美味しい朝食から始まって、お部屋から見えるドナウ川の移りゆく景色やホテルのお庭のバラ園、プール、清潔にお掃除されているお部屋、ホテルのスタッフ全て素晴らしかったです。

Hotel mit Geschichte in malerischer Kulisse

Das Hotel war interessant zu erkunden mit wirklich tollen antiken Möbeln in den Gängen. Der Garten war wunderschön gepflegt mit einem wirklich tollen Außenpool.

Wir haben den ersten Abend im angeschlossenen Restaurant sehr gut gegessen, jedoch war der Preis hierfür eindeutig überzogen (Essen war sehr gut; Preis-Leistung jedoch in keinem Verhältnis).

Man könnte natürlich bei diversen Kleinigkeiten nachjustieren--- alles in allem: Man hat in ein historisches Gebäude ein tolles Hotel integriert, und zwar so, dass die Geschichte allgegenwärtig ist.
