Wonderful hotel in a great location close to lake and ocean. We stayed in a jungle chalet which was spacious and well equipped. Staff constantly patrolling the area so very safe. We booked full board and all the meals were delicious and great variety. Danushka served us at dinner and breakfast and was charming and very attentive.

It is ideally located close to the national park with a lovely on-site lagoon filled with birds, water buffalo and crocodiles (all at a safe distance). The staff is great but be aware that given there are no barriers between you and the national park, they have to escort you to and from your room for safety once it gets dark.
It is not as luxurious as I expected given the photographs and it is a bit outside of the nearby town so once you are there, it isn't easy to get back and forth - especially after dark when the animals are roaming.
Quite suitable for a romantic couples getaway and just 1 or 2 nights, given limited things to do on site outside of the main pool area.

Perfect hotel!

If you are looking for a hotel nearby the national park, look no further as this place is perfect

You will be sunbathing watching crocodiles in the lake(it’s safe, don’t worry!!) admiring the sunset with the buffaloes and keep hoping an elephant will pop in.
The rooms are spectacular,spacious and very very clean.
The buffet (both breakfast and dinner) is yummy and with a variety I haven’t seen before.

But the highlight of this hotel is the staff. We had the best people looking after us and this was the best thing!

Our stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala was absolutely wonderful! The resort itself is incredibly luxurious, with beautiful surroundings that make you feel completely relaxed. We loved the little wildlife moments—monkeys and chipmunks even wandered right outside our room, which made the experience feel very special.

The food was buffet style with a huge variety of choices, and every meal was delicious. From breakfast to dinner, there was something for everyone, and the quality was consistently impressive.

What really stood out, though, was the staff. Every single person we encountered was friendly, welcoming, and went out of their way to be helpful. They made us feel comfortable and ensured our stay was seamless from start to finish.

Spent 2 amazing nights here for safari tours situated right outside the national park. The hotel staff and location is amazing. The cabanas are beautiful and air conditioned. We even had elephants in the lagoon outside our room one night. As additional the safaris are excellent, the park is dripping with wildlife, we booked directly from yalla national park but the hotel does similar tours do a full day as 1/2 is not enough.

The hotel is well placed for the National Park and has many animals in and around the property, such as elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, birds etc.
The rooms are excellent but the rest of the property is fairly basic. Food OK, Pool area OK. Sun loungers poor. Reception area poor.
We took a morning Safari, which was good but no better than that. DO NOT go on a Safari if you suffer from back or neck issues. It is incredibly bouncy in the car. The beach is wild and untamed.
Cinnamon Wild Yala was good but I expected better and especially as the price is high.

Great stay in the wild

We enjoyed our stay at Cinnamon Wild Yala. We did the stargazing with Kasun. We saw the moon and Saturn and enjoyed the view and the discussion with Kasun. Glad we did this activity!

We also went on a nature walk with Gayan Gamage on the 16th of october 2024, and it was absolutely amazing. He was super friendly and knew a lot about the nature and the tracking of the animals. It was very interesting, and we saw a lot of the local animals. We hightly recommend this to anyone who likes the nature and animals.

Gayan was friendly and easy to talk to and we had a great time! He was also very good at involving the children and our daughter loved him and wanted a picture taken with him after the tour :)

WILD cinnamon is really fantastic! And better than the photos suggest! We travel a lot and this was relaxing, really natural really fits in the wild (environment). An experience like no other staying at this location. A spa like elevated beach chalet with wild sights and sounds from every direction. We woke up to a wild bore digging in the sand and enjoyed an evening cocktail at the lounge as an elephant walking through the resort. In between a couple crocs lazing about. I’d highly recommend the nature hike as it opened our eyes to many things we were simply walking past. The food was varied and delicious.

Really amazing luxurious stay so close to nature and the national parks. I loved the friendly guide who took us on a walk to the lake to point out different birds and animals at sunset. It is very special when you see wild boar and crocodiles, literally a few metres from where you are enjoying dinner. Thank you!

Cinnamon Wild is a beautiful hotel, by far the most luxurious place we stayed in Sri Lanka. The wildlife in the immediate area is incredible and the hotel itself is stunning. My only suggestion would be to add some children's menu options to the pool bar menu, we were travelling with young children and options outside of the buffet were very limited

This is an excellent location for safaris at Yala. The facility is fine, but not luxurious. The bungalows are very nice and very comfortable. The grounds are OK - but not a place I'd want to spend many days in. The driveway into the hotel is not adequately maintained - our driver, who was excellent, would not bring the van down. The food was good, but not great. We felt that the extras - drinks, non-inclusive meals, etc, that you have to pay for, were overpriced for the Sri Lankan economy and comparable hotels, and it felt like they were taking advantage of the fact that you were stuck there. The staff was rather inflexible and not as accommodating as we've typically found in Sri Lanka

The road leading to the property is difficult for a vehicle which is not a three wheel drive. We went there with our driver and his pillow was full of bedbugs. The hotel could not guarantee a room without bedbugs and another guest's driver had the same problem. Our drivers left to find rooms elsewhere. Had to wait 20 minutes for a shuttle to the main gate the next morning.

My mother found an insect in her bed and their room (146) had smells coming from outside. Way to rooms not well lit and there were no torches. Safari's were expensive. Lovely beach which was not signposted. Good breakfast box for the game drive.

No fences and we were told not to walk at night on our own. That was difficult as all rooms were laid out chalet style in the grounds. The management needs to improve and attention should be paid to cleanliness.

Great remote location, wonderful wildlife right outside your room, very peaceful and tranquil. Staff were all delightful and far from pushy, in fact you were left completely alone and you had to go and find staff if you needed anything. The breakfastes were delicious and plentiful and although we were the only couple eating a la carte menu for dinner the curries were fabulous. Lighter snacks like pizza not so good though.

this is a great place. still in a wild setting with an amazing cast of wild life calling in on the natural watering hole in front of the pool. elephants, crocodiles, monkeys, wild boar and water buffallo put on a show from morning to night. did not bother with the safari as there was more to see right here without the hassle of of a bouncy dusty 4 hour jeep ride.

The rooms re excellent but the photos show a jungle chalet that is a triple and we booked this but on arrival were given a double jungle chalet which is much smaller and frankly not as nice. However, the hotel staff quickly tried to remedy the situation and were able to move us to the type of room thought we had booked the next day.

Staying at Cinnamon Wild turned out to be the highlight of our trip. The setting was magical, with a variety of animals like wild boars (!!) running around the property. Huge watering hole near the pool where you can lay and watch them. Staff was so friendly. We were going to stay 1 night, and we ended up staying 3. Food at buffet was excellent. Could have stayed a whole week!

They’re raised off the ground, which provides a great vantage point for observing any wildlife that may enter the resort overnight including wild boar and elephants. Booked for two nights but regretted. First the room was full of insect repellent smell for two nights and found two cockroaches in shower room upon check-in. Lizards crawling around the room, spider and unknown reptiles found in the room too. Cleanliness need to be improved.

We dined at Pugmarks bar and Tuskers for both nights but food weren't up to expectation for the price we paid. Order mojito after recommendation from the staff but seriously is tasteless... Totally waste of money!!!

Very simple and plain breakfast was packed in a box for those joining the morning safari tour. Don't expect too much...

Roof Top Bar was under renovation.

Excellent bungalow rooms in the forest . Fantastic pool was sunbathing and wild boar family just wondered along the side of the grass near the pool breath taking. Was sitting on our balcony and buffalo just walked past was unbelievable but felt so safe the animals took no notice of people. Breakfast was fantastic extensive choice . This hotel is on the edge of the national. . The wildlife around the lake , which the pool overlooks was great and generally better than the Yala national park itself , where we never saw an elephant.
At the hotel , and I was there four days an elephant came to visit the lake at between 2pm and 3pm.
There are monkeys in the trees around your rooms and boar roam around the villas on a regular basis.
The only downside was food. I foolish booked room only. Breakfast was over 2000lkr per head . They ran buffets but failed be transparent about the price so we only ate from the al carte menu. Food was good but all prices exclude tax and service which is frankly dishonest ! The bbq was $35 US dollars per head !

In summary - great hotel but go full board as you totally trapped once you there ! I would recommend it to friends and family but this purely due to location.

Honeymoon Trip

We stayed as part of a 3 week tour of Sri Lanka for our Honeymoon. The hotel is in a great location, inside the buffer zone of Yala NP, and as such very convenient for safaris in the park.
Accomodation was in a lodge, which extremely clean and well maintained. You are really connected to nature here, with wild boar and the like freely wandering around. There were elephants through the grounds both nights we were there. The hotel insists on providing escorts back to the lodges after dark. Beautiful beach, although not safe for swimming. Lovely pool, and special mention to the Pool Guy who always took the guests across the bridge to beside the lagoon to see the crocs gathering in the evening time.
Staff also very nice, and good (if a little weak & pricey) cocktails available - nice to have them on the rooftop bar at sunset.
Our only complaint here was the food, which was just average. We opted for al-la-carte. We had stayed in Cinnamon Lodge in Habarana earlier in our trip, where we were all inclusive and had the buffet meals, and the food just did not compare.

Hotel was really good and the food was tasty. The safari wasn't that great. The whole park entry is quite hard work with an inefficient ticket entry and queueing system. The entire safari is limited to road tracks with 250+ jeeps in the park. The wildlife is very limited and tricky to see because they avoid the noisy jeep filled roads. Don't bother if the Safari is the reason for the trip. Save your money and do an African one. Hotel was really good though.

Nice hotel, but very expensive for what you get. May have been because we stayed over Christmas. Staff were slow to respond to food and drink orders, or even take us to our room when we arrived. The room was nice, and there was a wide variety of food for breakfast and dinner. Animals on site is also a treat. Safari tours with the hotel are extremely expensive, we found one externally and paid around half the price per person and did a safari that lasted 2 hours longer.

Its a good experience to be in the jungle chalet and walking around the chalet you can get to see wild boars which is huge, squirrels , hare and once we spotted an elephant near the lake. Lots of butterflies and birds which you can see taking a stroll round the hotel and the beach is so clean and nice.

Excellent hotel , 5 mins from YALA national park. Good food, great attentive service and great rooms and pool. Prince took care of our room and and was very nice. ( They have drivers quarters too)
Next to wilderness and we saw crocs, birds, monkeys and a leopard sighting! Peaceful - you can hear ocean waves but too rough to swim.
Highly recommend and would go back.

The service was really bad. Specially when it came to sorting out a lens for the safari. Their website clearly states you could rent this lens from the counter. How ever the guy at the counter refused to lend us one. So if you are going to this hotel and planning on renting a lens please makes sure you bring one as it isn't a service they offer anymore. False advertising on their website. Further the food standards have gone down hill. I try and stay at this hotel once every two years and must say that every year I find the hotels good quality has gone down hill.

Hotel is great value for money. Surrounding areas are beautiful however we found the buffet dinner too expensive

Great Hotel

Great stay, lovely hotel and pool area. We had a massage and i got a pedicure as well, which was okay, but it was the most expansive massage and pedicure we had seen all over sri lanka, from all the 4 and 5 star hôtels we stayed in. This was the only hotel where we stayed more then one night, so we wanted to try this experience. What we got, was just average, not bad but also not great. The massage room needs a bit more atmosphere, and less smelly. Also the noice from the airconditioning was not relaxing.

Not happy stay at all

it is a disaster. This hotel is in the middle of no where, which we understand it is right inside the Yala National park.

But the staff there is just so inefficient! They can not find my booking even i showed them the confirmation letter and mails. It took more than 1 hour to check in. Even more redicious is the next morning when we checked out, they on hold us again because they still can not find out booking!! I totally did not get this.

The staff work in the bar and restanrant are not friendly at all. I won't suggest to stay in this hotel even their room is quite cute.

Enjoy nature without really roughing it

We stayed at Cinnamon Wild for two nights bracketing a safari in Yala National Park. The hotel is perfect for its setting, comfortable but respectful of its natural surroundings. From the elephant grazing along the approach road to the crocodiles in the lagoon to the monkeys that overturned our balcony furniture, this place offered a chance to enjoy nature without really roughing it. Beds were wonderful, breakfast was delicious, and the beach was so close we could hear the surf at night.

Unique experience in Yala

Our family enjoyed 2 nights here. We stayed in the beach bungalows (kids in one, adults in another), which were attached by a common deck. The rooms were large and very comfortable. The staff was friendly and service oriented. While the food - breakfast, lunch and dinner were outstanding.

Convenient safari short stop hotel

Beach front chalet is unsuitable for a family. If you book this chalet type and you are accompanied by children you will likely be moved to a jungle chalet regardless of your preference.

Excellent base for Yala safaris

Stayed in Yala for 2 nights for safaris to Yala. Since the hotel is in Yala national park there is no need to go back and forth on the access route to the park which has been under construction for more than a yr and is in very bad condition. We had booked a beach chalet with Expedia under the full board rate but at check in, we were informed that this was a mistake by Expedia and that the Expedia rate in fact included only the room. What was surprising is that this has been going on for many months and that the hotel took no steps to correct this and is still allowing Expedia to market their rooms at the wrong rate which is rather misleading. We were told that Expedia would refund the difference (meals). This was a bit of a dampening start to our stay. Nonetheless this is an excellent base for Yala safaris as no time is wasted in getting to the park as the hotel is in the national park itself.

Fantastic cabins very close to the national park.

Great food, the staff were very helpful and very comfortable facilities. Very easy to organise safari's from here. Saw Elephant, Leopard and Sun bear.

Lovely if you are on the beachfront

It was just one night but a good place for doing safari from. The wild cat is not wild and very cuddly!staff were good, pool lovely and clean. I would only stay here though if you have a room on the beach but that's just us. Lovely big areas so you didn't feel overwhelmed with people.

Although the National Park is in drought and the surroundings were barren, our stay at the Cinnamon Wild was lovely. The best feature was the staff, who were so willing to meet any requests and were very positive.

Tranquility in the wild

The location is beautiful, set within the nature reserve. The hotel staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are spacious and it is great just to sit in the balcony at night to listen to the sounds of nature.
