The Menjangan is a beautiful resort in the West Bali Barat National Park. It is spread out over a large area with open top mini buses traveling between the various parts available at any time on request. Our poolside room was large and beautifully styled. The two restaurants offer lovely meals and the staff are super polite and friendly. The number of rooms and guests is relatively small so it is never crowded. The facilities and options within the park are good with excellent guided bird and nature watching and easy snorkelling from the beach jetty and excellent snorkelling a short boat ride away.

The entire staff team was friendly, helpful, kind, and thoughtful. The room was clean and well maintained. The pool and beaches were pretty, and the massage among the mangroves was peaceful. We enjoyed delicious food from both restaurants. We also enjoyed bird watching, snorkeling, and horseback riding. It was incredible to see monkeys, giant squirrels, coucal, kingfishers, Bali Mynas, a civet cat, barking deer, a falconet, and much more. We felt privileged to experience West Bali National Park with such lovely accommodations.

Beautiful property! We stayed inland in the courtyard with the pool and used the safari shuttle to get around to the beach and the restaurants.
Everything was always well kept, staff was super nice and food was also delicious at both restaurants!

Wonderful beachfront stay

The beach villa is just a few feet from the ocean. It is very comfortable with lots of desk space and a couch. I accidentally broke the shower head and it was repaired in 10 minutes. The snorkeling to the island is amazing.

The northwest of Bali is quite different from the rest of the island, it is drier with different flora and fauna. The property is situated in a national park with limited access by the public it is tranquil and a marked contrast to the hustle,bustle,traffic and touristy excess of the main towns. The rooms are separate from the beach and other facilities and the hotel lays on a shuttle service. There are plenty of things to do including wildlife and bird watching tours although the highlight is definitely the diving and snorkelling available on reefs off Menjangan Island. It is the only place on Bali that I would consider revisiting.

Beach Villas are heaven. Breakfast is delicious. Staff is really nice.

Park is very expensive, over touristy and I highly recommend a car or you will be stuck with a very overpriced range of options with the hotel guides, unless you just want to relax on the beach for a few days in the park.

Breakfast the best we had in Bali, staff very nice and always ready to help.

Stayed in Monsoon lodge, rooms not sound proof, family next door made noise whole night and I couldn't sleep, the lady was coughing and I could hear it inspite of the heat pump on.

Snorkelling, bike rental and ferry to Menjangan Island can be arranged from hotel but is expensive and you better off going somewhere else. Taxi also expensive so better off arrange taxi prior.

Very very special place to stay!! The staff were incredible and we felt so welcome on our short weekend stay. The land environment around the hotel was gorgeous but very sadly most of the coral was dead (we saw fishermen just by where we were snorkelling which I wouldn’t expect to see in a protected national park) and we were surprised that you had to pay to use snorkels and masks. The bikes were also in a bad way. Overall I think the place could do with a bit of investment from management to refresh some of the facilities (e.g. glass roof over the baths) seeing as you would expect things to be perfect for the price you pay. Would definitely recommend to those looking for a quiet and peaceful escape.

Beach is best!

We started our four day stay in a room by the pool (restaurant 2k's away but the transport was very easy). However, after a few issues with the room the hotel upgraded us to a beach side lodge, which transformed our stay. We couldn't have asked for more: breathtaking views, the sea was steps from our lodge which our six year old loved. The beach-side restaurant - great food - was a stone's throw. We were looked after by the water sports guide, Wayan, who was amazing. He took us snorkelling off the reef at Menjangan island, kayaking and snorkelling off the jetty and made our son's first snorkelling experience a life-time memory. We absolutely loved the hotel once we were on the beach and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and lovely. The only scare was when my hubby got caught in a rip tide off the jetty (it was super windy) so caution is needed when swimming off the jetty if it's windy and the tide is going out. The hotel took on board our experience and will be upgrading the safety equipment so that it is accessible on the jetty itself.

Gorgeous retreat

I wasn’t really fully concentrating when I booked the hotel. I had extended my stay in Bali and needed a quick reservation in which to stay after checking out from my hotel in Ubud. Pressed for time, I just logged in, searched for diving in Menjangan, and found this hotel with a few nice pictures.

What a fantastic surprise I got upon arrival! Bali Tower (the reception) feels like a rebel watch tower on the forest moon of Endor straight out of the Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi. Dense forests surround it and what a breathtaking view it has of the sunset!

The staff are all extremely polite, cheerful, and professional. The supervisor Gelgel is keen on making you comfortable and happy and addresses any whim or concern you might have promptly and decisively.

The 5 star PADI diving centre is efficient and well run. The instructor Jenny is highly capable and has a laser beam focus. You will be in good hands.

The food and cooking is excellent. Very tasty with a variety of Indonesian and international plates to suit everyone.

The overall atmosphere is one of peace and tranquility. A great retreat in which you can relax, rejuvenate, and work on improving yourself mentally and physically where you can learn diving, study for your PADI certifications, go horseback riding, cycling, trekking, and kayaking.

I originally booked to stay for ten days but was enjoying the place so much that I pushed out my check out date for an additional week!

Heaven on Earth!!!

I have no words to describe the unforgettable experience we had at the Menjangan. This place is heaven and we will be back for sure. The staff is so nice and the service like nowhere else. The food is absolutely amazing and the decor splendid, peaceful and quiet. Our room at the monsoon was spacious and confortable, and they would leave home made treats and fruits for us before bedtime. The breakfast à la carte was to die for. Again a big thank you to the staff, they are gorgeous people and made our stay unforgettable!!! Very sad we had to leave the menjangan.

Perfect Honeymoon Villa

The Menjangan offered the perfect beachside villa for a romantic honeymoon experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The activities were exciting and highlighted the resort's location in the national park.

All the food was delicious and the kitchen staff was eager to accomodate our vegan dietary requests (even for the romantic dinner which was a culinary delight).

Well worth every penny spent.

Our beach villa is indeed on the beach. Wild dear will wade into the water, and lay under the trees right in front of the deck. However, the beach is rocky, and you really can't swim in front of your room. Not terrible, a beach for swimming is just over 100 yards away. Eating dinner beachside is an exercise in mosquito tolerance. It is fine for breakfast or lunch, but for dinner prefer eating at the Tower. Scuba excursion and the snorkel trip were excellent. We also did the horseback riding, which was ok if you like riding English.

Perfect place to relax and recharge.

Our room No. 112 was spacious, very comfortable, spotlessly clean, beautifully presented and every comfort thought of.
We enjoyed its position at the far end of the monsoon lodges as it was very quiet, with just a few steps from the beautifully cool well presented pool.
The remoteness of the hotel added to its charm for us. We enjoyed seeing the deer, monkeys, birds and other wildlife. Walking or cycling to the Bali tower was a delight for us as another opportunity to enjoy our surroundings (there is transport available almost immediately should you not be feeling very energetic)
The beach was well kept and quiet and the resturant was delightful. A trip to menjangan Island for snorkelling was excellent, we saw loads of fish.

Loved the beach villa and location of this resort. The staff and management were great and very helpful as expected for this style resort. The resort really had lots of options for activities. Being in a National Forest they do have rather steep prices on their food and activities. They did not have a large vegetarian menu but they did have excellent breakfasts. We did snorkling excursion and spa both were good.

The best resort in Menjangan and maybe in Bali

We couldn't be happier about our stay at The Menjangan. We would definitely recommend this to others. Yes it is quite a bit of drive from other customary attractions in Bali but being right in the middle of the national park with its wildlife and easy access to Menjangan island made it all worthwhile. Resort staff are organised, friendly, professional, and provide very prompt service. Rooms and facilities are clean and well maintained. Best of all and unexpectedly, food and drink prices on the resort restaurants are very reasonable given how remote the location is. This is a blessing, given that it's not easy to get food from outside the park. We didn't fully appreciate how excellent this resort was until we stayed in other 5-star establishments in Denpasar... Their level of service was nowhere near The menjangan. Awesome work and please keep it up, we will be back!!!!

My friends and I enjoyed a relaxing time at Menjangan. The room was beautiful and the service brilliant. We probably chose the wrong time of the year to visit as the vegetation was very dry and sparse, not exactly enticing for discovering the bush. We had a lovely time snorkelling.

Great time at The Menjangan

We stayed at The Menjangan for 6 nights and had a great time! The staff were all very helpful and hotel is located in a remote national park. The rooms at the Monsoon Lodge are very spacious and nice. We went scuba diving 3 days during our trip with the convenient dive shop on-site. The diving at Menjangan island is some of the best I've ever experienced - a very active reef with lots of sea life! Our one negative experience was that my wife got food poisoning during our stay (we think it was from a seafood curry dish). Otherwise, we absolutely recommend The Menjangan and hope to make it back some day!

Family on a budget

What a wonderful place! We loved the outdoors, tremendous food, and the quiet atmosphere. We decided against a Menjangan Island snorkeling trip with our kids due to the price but still had fun snorkeling right around the dock near the beach restaurant. The breakfast buffet is absolutely top notch. We were worried about getting ripped off with the dinner menu because there is no other choice for food but were pleasantly surprised with several quality options for those who are on a budget. I am a birder and the grounds were fantastic and the local guide there (Putu) is quite knowledgeable. We fit into the cheaper room with 3 adults and 2 children quite easily.

Quiet, relaxing spot for snorkeling/diving

Great staff, good food, great snorkeling right of the resort. Excellent dive trip taken with Sea Rovers (in Pemuteran). We enjoyed the quiet experience and our beach villa. Would have been great if they had 2 bedroom beach villas to offer to better accommodate families. We found the beach area pleasantly breeze but the jungle area (restaurant, tower, pool) too hot and buggy.

Amazing hotel set in the tropical jungle!

What a truly amazing hotel this is set in the tropical forest, it's like you are on a safari. There are many activities you can enjoy in this facility, but the best I have to say is snorkeling right off the beach. There is a beautiful coral reef and 50-60 foot coral wall right off the hotel beach, it was just as good as the snorkel trips we took Menjangan island. The rooms are very spacious, we were in the monsoon suites. restaurant at the beach is superb, hotel staff very friendly, knowledgable, and accommodating. Highly recommend this place, it's a little pricey but worth it!

Love it!

The hotel is located very far away from airport(around 4-5 hours drive).

The hotel is near (or inside?) the national park with beautiful surroundings. You can see many birds, trees, deer, fishes, butterflies.. inside the hotel.

We stayed two nights in the beach villa, the villa is comfortable, big and clean. Facing to the sea. The only drawback is the washroom / toilet is located outdoor.

It's a very pleasant & quiet stay in the hotel, we would definitely go back for relaxing!! But if you are looking for party nights, the hotel's not for you!

there's a gecko in our room..

Overall it seemed to be a decent hotel to stay with some nice foods until the second night we experienced a horrible night when there was a gecko on the ceiling right on top of our bed pooing, peeing, and making some annoying noisy sounds literally just everywhere he wanted to, not to mention the other insects (mosquitos, caterpillars, you name it..) that were wandering around the room. We were asking to switch us to the other room and as all the rooms were occupied, they tried to convince us to catch the gecko and provide us a bed curtains but it didn't help at all as the gecko was coming back again afterwards peeing right on our bed, forcing us to get rid of the bed cover entirely. should have spent one day only instead of two. Sorry but it was disappointing to us.

Unique place where comfort blends with the wild side of nature. It was a memorable experience. If you can, you have to book the Residence- the best place in the resort with gorgeous cliff top view, own swimming pool and three separate buildings for you to have enough space, if you are with family or traveling with friends. I was deighted to hear and see so many birds after weeks in SE Asia where the birds have all but disappeared. I even saw unusual species from the comfort of my room in the Monsoon Lodge. Great birding with a guide, snorkeling to the island, even a free ranging group of macaques. Everything you could want in an ecolodge!

Beach villa with stunning views

The Mejangan is a beautiful and ecologically friendly location in the north of Bali. The beach villa we stayed in was relatively small but had everything we needed and was very clean. The outside bathroom was not the most favorite spot of our family due to the many lizards and ants, but was very clean. The food on the resort is great. Our son has a gluten allergy and they even had a gluten free menu for breakfast and dinner, so convenient! Staff is extremely friendly and helpful, transportation is arranged upon request through the resort. The snorkeling we did around Mejangan island was one of the highlights of our 3-week Bali vacation, absolutely gorgeous. Dinner at the beach as well as Bali tower were excellent (lots of mosquitos on the beach though). The swimming pool was a bit disappointing since there were no beds available for visitors that did not have a house there. The sea was not really suitable for swimming. The taxi that the hotel arranged for our transfer to Ubud was excellent (incl. drinks, snacks, fruits and even a tablet for watching a movie).

JUST DO IT!

Coming from the Four Seasons in Sayan, we were a bit apprehensive about staying at this hotel with fewer amenities, but we are so glad we came. The Menjangan area is absolutely beautiful and a wonderful escape from the hustle and tourism of central/south Bali. The staff here may not be as well-trained, and the rooms and facilities may not be perfect, but my god was our stay amazing. The entire resort has a welcoming, friend/family-feel and all of the staff are extremely friendly and accessible. The extremely accommodating Dive Team are real standouts and put together the most memorable and personal SCUBA experience I have had. Next time we will be spending less time in Ubud and more time at this charming, beautiful resort.

Amazing forest and beach villas

We had a lovely 6 night stay at the Menjangan in one of the beautiful beach villas. The setting is idyllic, and the villas amazing - simple, but spacious, with an outdoor shower and bath and great views of the sea. The service is great - everyone was so helpful and welcoming, and the villa was kept spotless - cleaned several times a day! The food is great - lots of variety, local and western food, and amazing breakfasts, plus the chef made excellent vagetarian variations on dishes on request. Lots of activities to choose from - kayaking, snorkelling, massage, bird watching and trekking. Or just lazy on the becah and in the comfort of the villa - equipped with a varranda with beanbags and sunchairs and overlooking the sea and volcanos of Java.The local guides are really knowledgeable - highlights were seeing the endangered Bali starling and the snorkelling around Menjangan island, where the diversity of fish was amazing.Everything is very reasonably priced, and they gave us a free romantic local dinner one evening.The drive from the airport is fairly long - 4 hours, but the scenery is amazing as you cross the central mountain range, and the car is very comfortable with cushions, snacks and drinks provided. You can even stop en route to admire the scenery, visit coffee plantations etc. We would thoroughly recommend it!

Experience life in a national park

This is a relaxing stay in a resort that capitalizes on the natural beauty of the area. Staff are friendly, warm, and helpful. The accommodations are very comfortable. Free shuttle service makes it easy to get to the pool, the beach, and the eating areas from the rooms. The optional (pay-extra) bird and animal walks and snorkeling are very worthwhile. This is a resort where it is easiest to stay onsite. It is some distance from the nearby towns and other resorts so it would take awhile to go elsewhere for meals or other activities. This is ideal for some time immersed in nature, slowing down, getting away from the bustle of everyday life.

Best Service Ever!

I have stayed in many 5 star hotels and have been to Bali 10 times but interms of service, The Menjangan has been the best that I have experienced so far. Every single staff member was warm and friendly, making us feel totally at home and most welcomed. The hotel manager Rico also was top notch. Would you like to go to a hotel where upon arrival, they are waiting for you and know you by name. You go horseback riding and when you arrive at the restaurant for dinner, staff there know that you went riding? You ask for a video while having dinner and when you get back to the room, the video is waiting there for you. The warmth and attention to detail is unsurpassed.

Wonderful isolated resort

The hotel is located in West Bali National Park and makes for a great nature-oriented getaway. The staff is very informed and thoughtful, and runs a tight ship, especially given the relatively isolated location. The surroundings are wonderful; make sure to do a snorkelling trip to Menjangan Island.

The Resort has no shops nearby so all you can do is sit back and enjoy yourself. Enjoy the animals in the jungle, the life in the reef and all the friendly staff who only are there if you want them.

Wunderschön im Nationalpark gelegen. Traumhafte Umgebung, allerdings ist man immer auf das kostenlose Shuttle auch zum Essen gehen angewiesen, wegen der Tiere, die in freier Natur leben. Die Hotelanlage top. Aber immer die Hoteltür gut schließen, da sonst Affen ins Zimmer gelangen würden. Zum Strand wird man mit dem Shuttle gebracht. Die Aussicht ist traumhaft. Wer die Abgeschiedenheit liebt, ist hier genau richtig.

It was a satisfying trip for us.

The hotel is very nature friendly. All the staff are friendly and kind. The rooms are old but clean. They clean and tidy up the rooms from time to time. However, the towels are old and outdated. Overall, It was a satisfying trip for me.

Die Residenz hat eine traumhafte Aussicht. Einen sehr schönen Pool. Große Zimmer.
Alle Zimmer sind nur über Außenbereiche verbunden. Die Kinder hatten wegen der Affen etwas angst alleine aus dem Zimmer zu gehen. Man braucht aber keine Angst zu haben. Alles sicher und sehr schön

En perle på Bali

Helt fantastisk sted! Nydelige, avslappende omgivelser. Flotte fasiliteter. Du blir tatt svært godt hånd om fra du ankommer til du drar. Personellet er svært hyggelige og gjestfrie. Maten i restauranten er nydelig, og området er utrolig flott. Hjort og aper går fritt rundt, og snorklemulighetene er også veldig gode! Dette er en perle på Bali, borte fra turistmaset og all støy. Anbefales på det sterkeste.

Das Hotel liegt sehr schön in einem Teil des NP. Für Leute, die mal abschalten wollen sehr gut geeignet. Das Essen im kleinen Restaurant direkt am Meer war sehr lecker. Das Personal sehr freundlich. Die Zimmer sauber, bequem und groß. Alles in allem sehr zu empfehlen.
