THIS IS A 3 STAR NOT 4 STAR HOTEL.
We stayed during their off season and many of the hotel amenities were not available for use including the jacuzzi, pool bar, gym, and sauna which we were not made aware of prior to booking. The room was not clean when we arrived with stains on the bed and hair/garbage in the bathroom from the previous person. The door had gaps around it so noise came through meaning the vaccuming around 11pm at night kept us from getting the sleep we needed for an early morning tour. The pool was available but no bartender, and we found it wasn't cleaned daily as a massive wad of hair and brown liquid at the top was around for a few days. We also found smashed glass along the walking areas of the pool. Finally, it's hard to get a taxi to and from this place. The people were nice but I would not stay again.

Nice hotel on the outskirts of the city

This hotel was nice, but make sure you want to stay where it is located as it is on the outskirts of Arequipq proper. It feels like you are in a rural location with farm views outside your window. The place seemed to be under renovation in some parts, so there was some construction noise we had to deal with. The breakfast was really good and the rooms were nice and clean. We booked this hotel in large part because the picture on hotels.com website showed a sitting area for the “superior room, one king bed” and we wanted the extra space during our stay. I took a screen shot of the picture on my phone. It was a good thing because when we checked in, the front desk put us in a “standard” room that did not have this extra sitting area. Even after showing the picture to the front desk, we were told that the picture was of their “junior suite” and there was nothing they could do about it. I sent a note about this to hotels.com, and the next day hotel staff approached us, apologized and moved us to the advertised room. The hotel has a pool and jacuzzi, but when we asked about the operating hours for the jacuzzi (as we were hoping to use it to relax in the evening after dinner) we were told that the jacuzzi required a reservation, and that there are only three reservation times offered each day - 11 am, 1 pm and 3 pm. This was useless for us as those times were when we were out sight-seeing. So while it was a nice property, some key amenities were unusable during our stay.

Our kids liked the lagoon on the property with ducks and pedal boats. The service at the front desk, particularly Patrice, was excellent.

We did not like the fact that our room, although clean, had flies.

To wake up with the nature

If you are looking for a new experience (outside the city), this is a good choose.
For me and my family , it was a great experience wake up and see trough the room window, an excellent landscape: cows, ducks, crops and also a brilliant sun in the morning.
Also, the hotel has a good swimpool and nice place for kids.

Nice country hotel outside Lima city

The hotel offers a welcome relief from the sometimes dusty centre of Arequipa. The setting was lovely with the restaurant overlooking the lake, and we were lucky to see some great white herons. The restaurant is a bit pricey for Peru, but the food was good. The included breakfast is good value, with a choice of fruit salad, yogurt, juice, cereals, toast and eggs cooked to your wishes.

We arrive for a 4am checkin after driving 12 hours and the gates were closed and no one was answering. We waited for an hour outside before we had Expedia call the hotel and tell them to come out. The shower head was also falling apart

Nice hotel with lots of potential

We had a great experience, it has all necessary. The worst part was the staff (they won't help nor offer anything) and the fact that they do not have AC (as it was offered). Swimming pool could be heated and they could put some effort on the food department, breackfast was poor, also service arround the pool area did not had much to offer. Place is great, there are activities nearby, it is only 20 minutes away from downtown so its location allouds to have everything close enough, but still were able to rest.

Hotel facilities outdated and in need of refurbishment.
Breakfast is bad - chips, rice and soup?! And the worst scrambled eggs I've ever had.
Reception staff say they've booked taxi's or reserved activities when they haven't.
Swimming pool was absolutely filthy.

Nice hotel but they ask for My documents many time

i came with my parents and My nanny and i book two rooms . And first they want to charge taxes for both rooms but i explain that i came from Usa and My parents are peruvians . Finaly they chargme me just for one room. They they make a point on the breakfast, because is included. I explain that the reservación was made for 4 adults and 3 kids so suposed to be included . Finaly they said that they will handle it , lake it was a favor. I paid all my expenses and this is not My first trip or the first time i book from expedia. They took too long on registraron.

Find some place else

You're probably looking at this hotel for the price. But let me tell you; the location out in the suburbs makes you pay for a taxi everyday. No shuttle at all.

The night we stayed it was so loud we couldn't sleep and there was a wasp nest outside the balcony.

Honestly the staff seem friendly enough and earnestly try to help but the way in which it is run just does not justify the price.

Above anything else it is so far and expensive. Stay somewhere else!

Booked this hotel thinking it was much closer to the city square. Made a big mistake

Room was relatively clean however basically no amenities and the towels had mild on them.

Breakfast buffet was not even served one day and even though it's so far out of downtown things got very loud at night which made it hard to sleep.

Absolute worst thing about this hotel is the distance. You must pay at least 40 soles to go in and come back from town. That adds another 17 dollars per day to your bill. And many times taxis won't drive out to it due to the distance.

You can pay the same amount for a hotel in downtown. Do that or spend the extra twenty dollars and upgrade.

Beautiful and relaxing

The hotel is 25 minutes away from the center of arequipa. At first i thought it was going to be a problem, but the hotel provides transportation. Also, since the hotel is further away from the center, you get a peaceful and quiet stay. The food at their restaurant was delicious and the service overall was fantastic. There is not enough good things to say about the hotel! I cant wait to go back!!!!

Great reprieve for weary travelers!

We have been traveling through Ecuador and Peru for the last 6 weeks and finally found some R&R at the Hotel Lago Estelar. The room was spacious and comfortable with great views of the volcanoes in the background and the grounds of the hotel. Since we are traveling with a toddler also, the pool, duck pond with boats and playground on site were quite welcome and made our stay fun for all of us! The only downsides are that there isn't anything to walk to (restaurants or shops) in the small town down the street, and the restaurant on site is a bit pricey. You can take a taxi into town that doesn't cost too much which is good. Other than those things we loved our stay here!

Nice quiet hotel, but out of the way

This hotel is part of a big chain, so they definitely have a good reputation. My friend and I and her 7 year old daughter stayed here one night in Puno. The location was less than desired as it was nearly an hour away from the airport (35 soles taxi ride), but it was in a very peaceful setting. The breakfast was typical, nothing amazing. They offered tea in the lobby, and the receptionist was helpful. It was definitely quieter than other hotels that I've stayed in, but not the most ideal to get downtown for nightlife. The taxi ride to the Plaza de Armas was 15 soles one way. Okay for one night, just not very convenient if you want to do more sightseeing in the city (and there is definitely a great vibe in the city at night.)

Great Value!

We enjoyed the rural setting of this hotel. It is a 20 min., $5US cab ride to the historic area of town. The hotel is a little old and needs some updating but still very comfortable and well maintained. The staff are excellent. The only negative is that the rooms don't have fans. We were given a portable fan but it barely did the job. The rooms got hot during the day with the intense sun, so the cool evening air was needed to cool the room down. When we got our final bill, we were sure they made a mistake…it was SO reasonable. Great value!!!

Quiet and relaxing yet close to Arequipa

The check in is fast and efficient. The room had great bedding and pillows that were relaxing. even though they are away from the main square, they have 2 free shuttles in the morning there and one pick up at 5 pm. The driver is professional looking, was friendly and has a great personality. The breakfast was a little late in starting at their 7am times but had plenty of food for your enjoyment. The restaurant had good pricing and unique local meals for dinner. Internet access was great. Cable tv was good. Excellent hot showers. I would strongly recommend this hotel.

Hotel Lago Estelar Arequipa

We arrived late at night and the hotel is located on the outskirts in the countryside in an area that is does not seem very safe at night. It was an ordeal to arrive. The street that connects the main avenue to the hotel was closed for construction and there were no signs to indicate what route to take. Our taxi driver wanted us to get out of his car and walk at night in the middle of the countryside with our baby and bags.. the hotel should have placed clear signage as to an alternate route. The local police ran into us and guided us to the hotel. This was a dangerous situation. The hotel is old, it is not well maintained. The beds are unconfortable, we could hear the voices and steps from the guests in the room next to ours as if they were inside our room! I could not sleep well for the two nights. The hotel restaurant is old and not well maintained. The breakfast buffet was very dull and the presentation was not clean. I would rate this as a two star hotel in a location that is not convenient since it is far from the main square (30 minutes drive) and not very nice.

Great weekend or holiday hotel for a family

I traveled with my family and we found this hotel really good for us. The pool waas clean and not deep (ideal for children), a big yard to play soccer, volleyball and \"sapo\". The gym is well also and have a jacuzzi and sauna room. The breakfast is good with fresh fruit and natural juices. Good restaurant where I recommend \"El doble\".
The rooms are big and TV set is LED 42\". Wi-fi of good quality.
At the entrance a boy rents horses to ride on the country and near there is a small \"lake\" where ducks goes along with you while you can use boats for free.

Lovely hotel in the Arequipa countryside. Instead of traffic noise, you hear roosters and cows. Because of its location, though, you have to take a taxi into town (15-17 soles). They do have a hotel shuttle that will take you into town for free, if it's available. One of the main tourist attractions, the Sabandia Mill, is walking distance from the hotel.

Nice quiet getaway

We had a very peaceful stay. The hotel is very nice and the rooms were very spacious and clean. The staff were very helpful, especially when asked to get transportation for us. The Internet was very weak in the room, although they claimed we would have service. In order to use it, we had to go to the lobby. Even though we spoke some Spanish, we felt the communication was sparse. No one ever told us what we could and could not use or access. We had to ask every time. Also, I know it isn't the USA, but my experience has been that water should be free and readily available, especially in such a dry climate. It would b a great suggestion for them to provide water in the lobby at all times. A very nice place to stay, clean, and if you have decent skills in speaking Spanish, it will go well. Restaurant staff were fabulous!

Fabulous hotel on a beautiful property. We arrived mid morning and the staff allowed us to check in early. The restaurant and other facilities were spot on. The location was the only issue. If you want to be centrally located, this is not the hotel for you, but if you want a quiet secluded room, this is your spot.

Si vas a realizar turismo en la ciudad no te recomiendo hospedarte aca ya que queda bastante lejos de la plaza de armas que es realmente donde esta la vida de la ciudad. El hotel es muy básico, la cama no tan comoda (colchon se notaba viejisimo), baño sencillo, instalaciones sencillas. No hay conformidad en calidad/precio sinceramente.

EL hotel es bonito y esta en lugar alejado de la ciudad, cerca de los campos de sabandia. Lo que recomendaria para mejorar es que su personal este mejor informado, se demoraban mucho al darme respuestas como la hora del desayuno o de que se trataba la cena de año nuevo ya que tenian que estar consultando. El desayuno deberia ser mas variado, al menos poner frutos tipicos de arrequipa como la papaya arequipeña, y no los clasicos jamos y queso.

El hotel es muy bonito solo que es lamentable que pongan a un recepcionista por la mañana tan mal educado y sin lógica tuvimos la reserva por aquí y nos quiso cobrar 26 dólares por noche más ya que dice que la tarifa que pagamos es muy baja y que ellos no manejan esas tarifas así nos tuvo con la amenaza los 3 días hasta q tuvimos que llamar a la administradora que nos dio la razón pero por gente como el señor de recepción dejan mucho que desear una cadena tan buena como es el Estelar

Alquilan el hotel para eventos privados.

Lo malo, alquilan el hotel para fiestas y eventos, el día sábado en la mañana realizaron una fiesta infantil en el área de la piscina, la música y el ruido eran insoportables. No se podían usar esas áreas en la práctica. Si el hotel va a recurrir a esas prácticas, por lo menos que avise o que no las haga al lado de las habitaciones usando áreas comunes. Lamentable.
