Excellent value for the money. Breakfast was exceptional. Rooms were comfortable, albeit in the smaller European style. The front desk offered wine and treats, which I took advantage of. The walls between rooms seem to be a little thin, but that will bother only the most sensitive guests (kinda like me).

We stayed for two nights with two children. Location excellent for sightseeing, great breakfast and friendly staff. The only downside was the cost of the parking that is ‘discounted’ by the hotel, it cost £90 for two days and this was with a 10% hotel discount.

Room was spotless! However no wardrobe in the room only approximately 8 coat hangers behind a full length mirror which were very awkward to get to plus there were 2 shelves directly below the hangers! The only 2 drawers were very small….one had a hair dryer in the other had an iron in!!

this hotel had five stars up until the last minute. Wonderful check in, great room. Reasonable priced upgrade. The restaurant had unbelievable dishes. Everybody was friendly. The lobby was great. It was really one of the best days I’ve ever had until the very end… I needed an hour extra to check out for medical reasons - and was told they charged by the hour for late checkout… I have never even heard of this before. It is either possible. (courtesy.) or a hotel can’t do it. Charging by the hour for late check out? That is a low class move. So even though we love the hotel and we love the staff, we find a late checkout policy to be very offputting to say the least! It really left a sour taste at the end of an otherwise outstanding stay.

Overall it is nice hotel with all the necesssities. However, there was an issue with the hotel staff. One morning at 8:20 am I was waken up by the constant knocking on the door, I said yes? then a white lady, manager (I assume) just went ahead and opened the door. The door was automatic, so it was fully widely open. Meanwhile I was in bed under my blancket and still half asleep. She asked if I needed the rooming cleaning. I said could you get out and close the door, it is 8:20 am, then she tried to educate me and said I should put on the 'dont bother sign' instead. I know the cleaning service would be later in the day. After that incident, I had been worried someone would suddenly open my room so I had to make sure I was properly dressed and closed the bathroom door when using bathroom. I'm a very frequent traveler internationally, I don't think this behavior would be acceptable anywhere.

I have a mixed review of the hotel. I booked the stay through Hotels.com the evening before; however, when we checked in the next day, the clerk claimed she could not find our reservation even after I showed it to her on my phone. She charged me for the room. She assured me I would not be double charged. Well, upon returning home and reviewing my credit card transactions online, I found that I was indeed billed twice. I have contacted the hotel to get this taken care of. In all my booking with Hotels.com, I have never encountered this.
Having said that, we were pleased with the hotel. It is walkable from the Central Train Station and is about 3-4 blocks from the waterfront. The room was quite spacious, and we enjoyed the breakfast which was both plentiful and delicious. We also ate at the hotel's restaurant one evening and were pleased.

It was summer, so room was warm requiring us to have windows open. Right outside our window was a night club that had loud noise until 3 am or late. Also, the bathroom was very small. However, bed was comfy and tv had the ability to use streaming services that helped us drown out the night club noise. Try to ask for a room that doesn’t face the same direction as the entrance. I’d stay here again.

A generally solid choice for a stay, just minor quibbles. There was nobody in the lobby the 3 times I tried, they eventually came and were quite nice. The rooms are not particularly spacious but well laid out, with a very usable desk and a mini fridge and hot pot. generally 4 stars, but I dinged them a star as they didn't allow me to leave a day early when my plans changed, even though it was fine with expedia. Breakfast fine, but crowded and nothing special for a Scandinavian hotel, who pride themselves on it (the word smorgasbord come from it).

We chose the Hotell Bondeheimen on the basis of reviews at the Hotels.com site, and we realize that comfort may depend on the room you get. We found our room rather small. The biggest problem we experienced was street noise--we could have the windows open and a temperature we liked, or the windows closed and be too warm. Our room overlooked Rosencrantz Gate, and there was street noise all night long, with the early morning adding very loud trash pick up. The room was scrupulously clean, but not very restful. The breakfasts were plentiful, and the location was what we wanted.

The biggest drawback is the noise from the street so request a room on the back. I left a request for three repairs in our room in the morning and everything was corrected, including a window that wouldn't open, by afternoon.
