It was a classic Route 66 motel. The room was very clean and the AC worked great. The bed was comfortable and the shower was hot. We parked right in front of our door. Don't judge the book by the cover, I'm sure that the outside will be updated soon. I'd definitely stay again. Stayed overnight to catch an early flight. Oh, eat at the Braums just up the street, delicious ice cream sundaes!

Really good, well-run motel. The rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable with everything in good working order. Parking seems very safe (your car is right outside your room). The single downside is there are a few barking dogs in the neighborhood – obviously not the hotel’s fault. It is only occasional, though, and not a dealbreaker. I liked staying here and would definitely stay again.

The room was super clean and well appointed. My only negatives were that the bed was uncomfortably firm and there needed to be a TV channel list. The TV remote would not change volume and would not pull up a channel guide, so it was impossible to find anything.

Unfortunately we had a car accident in Dallas and couldn’t make it to Amarillo. I messaged the property letting then know of our accident. It was after our cancellation window. I believe they may give some refund on the stay. I hope to get back to Amarillo in a few months and definitely will stay at Route 66.

The owner eventually gave us a partial refund of $41 even though we didn’t use the room just opened the door,
We wished we hadn’t as that cost us $46 just to find out it was as grim as we expected!

I liked the place. A stay at Route 66 Inn on route 66 was exactly what I was looking for. It was way better than expected. for an older hotel, the rooms were clean, didnt smell, checkin was easy, there wasnt any hidden unexpected charges. I think the owner takes care of the property and does everything on his own as I saw him cleaning rooms when I was checking out. I would stay here again for sure

The hotel room appeared to be clean, but upon our entry into our room, we found 2 spiders on 1 bed, and in the morning there was another one on the other bed. The refrigeration freezer tray had some grey mold and what it looked like to be a feather in it too. You can tell the renovations were not done quite well. There were huge gaps near the electrical outlet by the closet area, possibly where spiders are coming in from. The inn staff were friendly but the room was not comfortable to sleep in.

Lacks charm

Once the True Rest motel on Route 66, the Route 66 motel has seen better days. The motel was restored some years ago, but the property has junk here and there, and the rooms, while sufficient, aren’t particularly comfortable. The proprietor was polite but not friendly. The motel lacks the charm of many old Route 66 motels that are still in operation. East Amarillo is also pretty rough.

Given the condition of the room, I thought it was very clean. However, it did need paint in most areas. The amenities were nice coffee maker, microwave, refrigerator.
The soap dispenser in the shower was empty on side. Also, the shower base gets extremely slippery when wet. I believe they need to put in some tape.

I did not have much interaction with the staff. What I did have was good though.

It is in an older part of town tgat is more industrial. It is close to the Big Texan which was a plus so we could check in while we waited for our table. The front desk check in was easy and efficient.. The room was cool and had huge beds with soft blankets and pillows with cool sheets. We slept amazing in these super comfortable beds. We will definitely stay here again!

It looks like Route 66 Inn is being renovated room by room. It is a quant motel and the rooms that have been renovated are comfortable. While they are working hard to get it back to a nice motel, it is in a part of town that at first seemed a bit Sketchy. Would I stay here again, possibly; but it will not be anytime soon. I would like to see this entire property fully renovated.

Great iconic motel on route 66 in Amarillo

The iconic route 66 motel in Amarillo was a wonderful experience to spend the night in route from Dallas to Westcliffe Colorado. It’s recently renovated outside, cleanliness, bare-bones, but very adequate inside, good beds, and fine housekeeping help as well so it’s on the front desk. Made it a memorable stay I should be back. That’s especially true for the annual hundred celebration of route 66 during the summer of 2025. Keep up the good work and pass the word for a very reasonable place to stay

Our travel plans changed mid drive and we picked this place due to price and rating. While the area is more industrial, the complex was very clean. The gentlemen at the front desk were so nice. I asked for food recommendations and the sent us to a local Thai place. The best food there. The rooms were very clean, the beds were so com. Would definitely stay there again.

The property is old, and some attempt to refurbish is happening currently. While that is appreciated, some additional details are lacking. For example: there is one light in the room, high up on the ceiling; there are only two power outlets available in the room besides the one at the bathroom sink; there's no closet, and while there is a rack adjacent to the sink, there are no hangers. The sign on the office door read \"Open\" when we arrived, but the door was locked. I rang the bell, and a woman came to open the door and I was able to complete the registration. The same process occurred when we checked out - but when the bell was not answered after a few minutes, we returned to the room and left the room keys there.
We would plan to stay elsewhere next time in Amarillo.

Good Overnighter!

Booked the room due to the rating from fellow travelers. Definately a less desirable area of Amarillo with loud trucks and motorcycles dragging up and down the street late. Owner is trying his best with what he has however. Room was clean and slightly updated, property is very old. Window/Wall unit cooled the room fairly well, it was a hot July night. Price was definately right, did not even look at Breakfast options in the lobby, wasn't much there it didn't appear.
