This is my 3rd stay at this Sokha resort & it did not disappoint. Friendly staff, good food (reasonably priced) & exceptional massage. The pool is large, clean & well maintained. Right next to the beach & has a tropical island feel though surrounded by tall buildings. Truly a hidden gem & would definitely return next time I visit Sihanoukville.

This is my favorite resort in cambodia. You can walk to the beach.

They have good tuna sandwhiches, burgers, pizza and the rib-eye was tasty as well.

Gym is far but the staff will shuttle you anywhere on the property.

This is a delightful hotel, great service and good food. The linked restaurants Lemongrass is fabulous. Sadly the street outside is full of neon casinos and bars , whereas he hotel is a haven of quiet and tranquility. This is a great hotel for young children.

Loved the pool and staff. Tun at the champa restaurant and bar is amazing and made dining a pleasure. Rooms are a bit tried and dark, brighter lighting would help. Overall very much enjoyed our stay. The staff make this resort.

The resort is located in a nice and quiet part of the town with a nice stretch of beach. We got a free upgrade to a very nice room. We had a great dinner at the restaurant. Very friendly staff all around providing excellent service whenever needed. The breakfast has a great selection of Khmer as well as western food. The beach is combed to remove washed up rubbish. The property is slightly dated but I highly recommend this place.

The hotel is good but the city around it is a complete building site. The roads are terrible, no pavements and with all the construction work the dust if you go outside the hotel is dreadful. This is not the hotels fault but it makes it a disappointing place to stay. It will take years for this to be solved but if and when it is this hotel will be a nice place to stayw

Good beach area but that’s about it. The rooms are dated and poorly lit. The lights are so dim you can hardly see anything. Over grown palm trees block any views from the room (we booked ocean view rooms). The WiFi speed in our room was so slow (less than 0.5 MBps) that it was unusable. The worst part was they made us wait at checkout when they went to check our room to see if we took anything from the mini bar. They wouldn’t believe us when we told them we didn’t take a cup of instant noodle and two bottles of water. They made us wait while they resent a staff to recheck it again. What a horrible customer relationship. After we spent nearly $2000 usd for 3 rooms somehow they thought we would cheat on not paying for a cup of instant noodle. We certainly didn’t travel half around the world to steal and eat a cup of noodle. We won’t be staying here again.

This should be everyone's first choice of hotel

This hotel was superb in almost all ways.
The staff are super friendly and personal and always have a smile on their faces and provide excellent service at all times of the day. I arrived 7 AM on my check in day and to my surprise they let me have access to my room straight away even though check in time is 15 PM. This was a welcoming surprise after a late flight. One night at 4.30 AM I needed to go to a pharmacy and they sent me there with a hotel car without charge. The staff here really provide genuine service

The rooms are great with comfortable beds and all necessary facilities.

The beach are right in connection to the pool area and are magnificent with white sand.

The food in the restaurant are tasty and the breakfast offers excellent choices.

This will always be my choice of hotel when traveling to sihanoukville in the future. The hotel was a big part that my trip became a true pleasure.

The staff were really friendly, but:
-7 of 9 of our family members ended up with bad stomachs (and worse, had two kids with projectile vomit) and we only ate at the resort. Flies were everywhere around the restaurants and obviously food prep is an issue.
-it seemed like half of the staff were new (often took 10 minutes to get a bill in the restaurants)
-the gingerbread houses for sale were partially made with a GLUEGUN!!! I'm not kidding.
-our room was wet - tons of condensation on the ceiling and floor was damp, could not get dry even with AC on high; switched rooms and no problem.
-no signs anywhere on the property about where the fitness center or kids club were. (There were signs everywhere, but useless ones with pictures of dishes from the restaurants with no info.)
-the casino looked like the inside of an abandoned department store.
-nice beaches but the water turned into sludge on the third day (there were storms in the area) and there were diapers washing up on shore at night. Not exactly their fault, and the beach was cleaned up each morning, but a factor in our experience.
-guests are forced into paying for an outrageously priced Christmas dinner. The info on Expedia was vague about this. There was a good spread, but nothing up to like what we've had at nice hotels before.
All in all we were very disappointed as the resort was supposedly 5 stars and cost over $180 USD per night.

We liked being near the beach even though the water was not clear. We also like the friendly staff. Dislikes: 1) no steps into pool and \"ladders\" are poles rather than steps. Very difficult to get in. 2) rooms on second floor damp, musty, even wet with water dripping off ceiling. 3) very poor lighting in rooms. Had to put make-up on outside and could not read. 4) food is mediocre, especially main restaurant and we all got food poisoning.

I’ll start by saying the Chinese “guests” have ruined Sihanoukville!

I came to Sokha 4 years ago, I was amazed and fell in love with the private beach and had many late night conversations with other guests.
Coming from Australia but with Cambodian heritage it’s sad to see how much has changed for the worse at Sokha and Sihanoukville overall.

My overwhelming issue and concern is from the Chinese who make up 99% of all guests who now attend Sokha.
They have completely ruined the experience for our group and many other non-Chinese guests.
From hocking up flem in the pool, walking around spitting all over the floor to constantly being pushed in front of in line like we were invisible.
Their lack of manners and consideration for other guests is digesting.
I thought I’d give them the benefit of the doubt but soon found its was the majority of these Chinese guests who acted this way.

The white sands and crystal clear clean beach waters of the past have been replaced with green merky water and floating rubbish at the private beach from the influx of Chinese construction.

The rooms and amenities are as I remember them 4 years ago not really and issue rooms are ok but AC was on the lowest setting but didn’t feel very cold.

We were so excited to revisit Sokha but have been extremely disappointed by the infiltration of Chinese to the area and influence they have on the Cambodian Hotel group.
Sad to say but we will never return to Sihanoukville.

We enjoyed the beach and the pool. The room was also very comfortable. We were slightly disappointed with the food and we all got sick for more than half our stay. Not sure why, as we travel regularly and rarely fall ill, we only suspect the food. Otherwise, when we were healthy, we enjoyed our time there.

The Sokha resort is by far the best accommodation in the area. The staff are attentive, rooms are clean and pool area lovely. Its also located on the best beach which is cleaned regularly and is private to resort customers only. I have stayed here twice and would not stay anywhere else.

We arrived, having had a terrible experience on Koh Rong to this grand 5 star resort, exactly what we needed. We were early, but were allowed to avail of the facilities while our room was being prepared. While laying out we were asked were we staying here and promptly explained our situation. The next day we went to the beach and we were asked again were we staying there. Bit irritating. No one else was asked this. we believe it was because we did not avail of the resort towels.

Other than that, the breakfast was the best selection we had in Asia. And the most delicious. The room was always clean and, they provided me with a cake, candles and a note for my birthday which I loved and was very grateful. The service here is fantastic. If at the pool, there is table service.

Overall a great stay here and would recommend.

It's been 9 years since my last stay and Sokha Beach Resort is just as I remember - although the food at all restaurants has gone downhill, and service was very slow. The day spa is lovely but comparatively very expensive. A complementary airport shuttle would be nice for the price, at least in one direction, even a shared shuttle several times a day if demand is there. This service is now offered by most hotels in Siem Reap; Sihanoukville could perhaps follow suit?

Lovely beach resort hotel with a few quirks.

Sokha beach is a beautiful resort but is spread across a very large area and so I expect your experience will vary depending on which part you are in. We had booked a non smoking ocean wing delux room but only got this after rejecting 4 other rooms over the first two days. Disappointingly not being show to the room type we had booked first off tainted the experience a little but Sokha is a beautiful resort with very attentive staff albeit they need to improve their check in. The resort is spread over a wide area with direct access to a beautiful tranquil private white sand beach. There are some building works going on around the grounds and on neighbouring property which look like they may take some time. The food, bars and restaurants are very good and all serve excellent cocktails! Probably the best beach location choice in the area.

This is a nice resort, although a bit tacky with the decor. However the staff make it a frustrating experience. They won't leave you alone- at breakfast they are constantly asking you if you want tea or coffee (even if you say no they ask again and again), they take your plate and glass before you have finished your food, they fuss about moving the plates on your table for no apparent reason. It's frustrating and you just can't get a break. Food and drinks are expensive, the shuttle into town is inconvenient and there is no airport transfer. They charge you $40 for a hire car to take you to the airport.

Paradise on the Beach!

We had never been to Cambodia or in fact the Far East so this was quite adventurous for us. After quite a long journey to get to the hotel, my wife, son, daughter and I were received very well by the hotel staff. The main foyer is beautiful as are the grounds and the facilities. The hotel has its own beach front which is literally a 1 min walk away where you can order drinks and food. There are no hawkers so you are never disturbed. The hotel has a pool side bar where drinks will be served to you whilst you sit on the stools in the pool but they also serve food there if you are too lazy to go to one of the 3 restaurants they have on site. We were there for 2 weeks and had breakfast from their amazing selection almost every day, lunch at the pool side or Champa restaurant on most days but we quite enjoyed going out to town ($3 tuk tuk ride each way for 4 people that's $3 in total!) The nearby town has really good restaurants which are clean and as long as you don't have the homemade ice you won't get ill. Choice of cuisine is Indian (Kama Sutra), Italian pizza joint next to Kama Sutra on the corner, burgers, grills, seafood, Thai, Sushi etc and all very reasonable on price.
I want to especially single out the following staff, Asif Bajwa the new F&B Director is bringing a new vibe to the hotel and setting the bar to a very high International standard. With him in his team are Chann Vichet Tom Chanthy Vannak and Meoung amongst many who shined bright with the service they gave.

Expensive hotel but you won't regret wasting money here. From lush gardens to mesmerizing swimming pool to wifi everywhere along the private sandy beach, everything about this facility is breathtaking.
Free breakfast buffet was amazing. Very friendly staff. Hotel has its own casino across the private street. I highly recommend and will definitely yearn for another experience.

My friend and I had a relaxing stay at this hotel but it is far away from the shops. The hotel grounds are spacious with plenty of space for expansion. Nightlife or a family show would be a welcome addition to this hotel. However, it does have a casino and cabaret in the evening for adults.

We booked this hotel because of the beach and to be honest there are not many options
We were upgraded to the water villas which are very nice but they definitely need a lot of maintenance! The water around is only mud, horrible smell full of mosquitoes and to be honest simply disgusting. The villas are ok but not worth the price They really need to put some effort to make them nicer not only the villas but all their surroundings even the streets
The rest of the hotel is very nice. Friendly staff but they need to speak more english. Food was very good but overall to be a 5 star hotel they need a lot of improvement! Anyway I will recommend this hotel

We stayed at Sohka Beach for 2 weeks and for the most part found it excellent, lovely pool and long sandy beach. The exception was some food. We had 2 unsatisfactory meat meals in the main restaurant, sent one back back and did go there again except for breakfast. It appears that the hotel is not buying the best quality meat. On the other hand, we found the Lemongrass beach restaurant, which gave us excellent and pleasant service with wonderful sea and duck dishes.

We had an enjoyable stay here and glad we decided to stay here given it has direct access to the nicest beach in Sihanoukville hands down! The only downside in staying at this hotel was due to how pricey it was to eat at their restaurants and the quality of food was ok. Lemongrass was ridiculously expensive and going into town for a feed is a better option.

Pricey resort for what you get. Room wasnt ready at check-in and was palmed off with a lower grade room than what we'd booked. After refusing that, eventually got into a room approx 90mins after check-in was meant to be. Bar and restaurant were pricey, with 5% tip automatically added to everything, even just a drink. Facilities were clean but hotel lacked atmosphere and felt more like a business hotel. Would only recommend this if you plan to spend all your hol on a beach lounger rather than visiting the area.

Too Pricey for What you Get

Chaos at the front desk upon check-in. We didn't receive a cold towel or a welcome drink. The rooms are drab and sparse. The locks on the door to the room in the main bedroom was sketchy at best. The main elevator was under repair and the second elevator had fumes that smelled like diesel. I had to take the stairs because I couldn't stand the smell. The price was way too much. The breakfast had some variety in general, but not much variety across the week. There was also bad papaya in the fruit. The towel card system was a pain (one towel per guest). The swim up bar reeked of stale beer. The staff we encountered were very helpful. We enjoyed the tuk-tuk drivers from Sohka. The restaurants were also pricey. We had the Thursday night seafood buffet. Some of the prawns were not fully cooked. The buffet was $25 (not a good value). They wouldn't give us a late check out more than 30 minutes although it really seemed like business was down. I am so glad we did not stay in the bungalows on the water. They looked to be standing over stagnant water and all I could think of were the mosquitoes. Only about a couple of the units had a view worth mentioning. The resort we stayed at in Siem Reap was so much better and at a much lower cost (1/4 the price). Independence Hotel looks like it would have been a more enjoyable option. Though the hotel was lacking, Sihanoukville was great. We especially enjoyed snorkeling, some of the restaurants in town, the beach, and the sunshine!

Incredible stay in Cambodia's beautiful beach area

The stay was incredible. Not only did we have ocean view of the Gulf of Thailand, but it was a 1 min walk to the beach. We went during off season so my family and I felt like we had the place to ourselves!The cleanliness, was on point. The service, and the food..it was a win/win all the way around! The service was impressive. The people are so kind. Couldn't of asked for a better experience! If you are thinking about traveling to Sihanoukville, Cambodia, I highly recommend this resort!

This is a place for families only. The evening band at dinner is really awful but caters to Chinese tourists. Prices at the hotel are way too expensive. Generally the hotel is way too big and the quality of service, food the rooms etc. is not that great. The beach is really great. Generally there are not a lot of other alternatives if you want so-called luxury in this town.

Nice hotel for region but not international 5 star

This hotel receives a five star rating from the Cambodia Tourism Agency. In other words, not Michelin or AAA. From Cambodian standards it is a 5 star resort. However, it is a far cry from Banyan Tree or Shangri La properties, but clearly the best option in the region. It is the little things that matter like bizarre elevation changes in floors, poor grout lines in the tile, AC in the rooms that are either on (can get very cold) or off (being near the equator will be too warm), crab grass instead of well manicured lawns. However, the staff is well trained and provides excellent service. That being said, they have no idea how to mix a martini, a key quality you would find at a true 5, or even 4 star resort.

If I was back in the region, I would probably stay here again given the option. If I was traveling with my family in Asia, I would likely choose a different beach destination like Banyan Tree in Laguna Lang Co, Vietnam.

Nice hotel by the sea, rooms were in a block a it like a Butlins holiday village, breakfast was a bit of a scrum and we found the staff abrupt, good gym and great pool and beach, overal ok but wouldn't go back

Bus Tour Hotel

The bus principally caters to large bus tour groups making the service quite impersonal. Paying over US250 a night I don't expect to be given a breakfast voucher to present to staff before queuing for a table and food every morning.

Nice facilities, bad location, horrible staff

The hotel and beach are nice enough. The staff was not knowledgable and not helpful. For example, one night we asked the doorman to call us a tuk tuk (local kind of taxi). The driver came and demanded double the price we should pay. We refused and asked the doorman to call another driver and the doorman refused. I argued, but he refused. I went to the front desk and they called him on the radio and told him to get another tuk tuk but he refused. So we walked.
The hotel is not near any of the restaurants and stores and the walk to the center of town is all up hill.
Another time, at breakfast, we asked for the coffee to be ice coffee. They said we would be charged $2.70 for ice coffee because only hot coffee is free. So I asked for hot coffee and a glass of ice (both items being free) but they charged us $5.40 for our 2 coffees.
I would not only not recommend this hotel to anyone, I would warn them about staying here.

Nice hotel...beautiful beach

Stay here for the beach, food at lemongrass (smaller restaurant) and clean rooms. Some rooms are far from reception and you often wait a while to be served in the main restaurant but it's a relaxing stay away from the buzz of the town.

Has room for improvement

The hotel was fine, but the customer service was lacking. Terrible service in the restaurants, and everything was a bit run down. It seems they are still growing as a tourist destination, but they need to improve a lot if they want return customers (who aren't Chinese tour groups). The pool was very nice however.

Lots of cool Asian stuff at the breakfast buffet. Comfortable room. Booked this hotel because of reports of two rocky outcrops at either end of the private beach that are good for snorkelling. However waves were so choppy we didn't dare swim near the rocks. Tuk tuks booked from the hotel were expensive. Arrival of buggies for transport within the vast resort complex could be undependable at times when there were a lot of check ins, which take precedence.

Beautiful private beach and resort - perfection.

We spent four days at Sokha Beach Resort as a romantic getaway. The moment we set foot inside the hotel, we felt relaxed and serene. The resort is beautiful with amazing, colorful pictures on the walls. The staffs were kind, informative and attentive but not annoying. Our suite was spacious and the California king bed comfortable. We loved the traditional design in our room. We dined at Lemongrass and Tumeric restaurant. The food at both places were good. They were not five stars but we enjoyed our meals there. We also dined at Sunset Bar and Beach Bar. I couldn't get enough of the beach so we spent time there from morning and until sunset. The experience was magical. While I loved that Sokha has a private beach, I noticed that some non-hotel guests ventured over. That I did not like. I hope that Sokha would consider putting a prominent sign on each side of the beach to ward off non hotel guests from the private beach. It could be a simple sign that read: Private Beach. Sokha Hotel Guests Only.

Great stay but you pay the price for

This is an amazing resort. Everything was very good and we will go back. Just wish we could have paid a little less... if we compare to the prices of other similar hotels in Cambodia.

Sokha brand hotels are just ok. You can here everything going on outside your room, above below, and rooms next to you.
Staff is friendly.
Breakfast Buffett was decent. Only thing is it open air dining outside, and they dont cover some of the food primary all the breads and pastries and fruit. There were tons of flys on the pastries and lots of fruit flies on the fruit. Very unappetizing.
Its the best hotel in in this area as far as choices. Hopefully Sofietel or Grand Raffles open a resort here. They are much better than Sohka

Great resort, great service. Hotel is coming due for some maintenance on the rooms, but had a great stay here. Highly recommend. The pool area was very nice, and the beach in front of the hotel is clean and uncrowded. Breakfast buffet was great. The hotel is about 2km from the tourist restaurants, etc. and is within walking distance, but there is also a shuttle that runs from the hotel to the town multiple times per day.

Best place to stay in Cambodia

Hotel is very nice. Had a very relaxing stay. Highly recommended. Food could be better but it was good enough and did exceed my expectations. Nice location. Restaurant literally built over the beach was very nice. Private beach was another bonus.

Good location with nice private beach

Good hotel but it falls short of normal standards. The central corridor design of the hotel means it was quite noisy. I stayed 3 nights and was awakened each morning by noise outside of the room. On Monday morning, the construction noise in the central courtyard started at 7am. It was stopped within 20 minutes but my sleep was seriously disrupted by this point.

Great Family Room

We spent two nights here. The family room was HUGE!!!!!!! It was three rooms and three bathrooms. One bedroom with a king size bed, one HUGE living room and another bedroom with two twin beds. All had a balcony opening to the outside. The breakfast in the morning had a large selection. The resort was huge. It had a nice pool, large beach with nice shades.

We returned after 6 years and very happy to see some improvement. Generally a 4 star hotel which is 5 star for cambodia. Room and shower neded done scrubbing but were comfortable, excellent pool

unsatifactory

I paid full price for this hotel, but receive undesirable services. my room was placed next to a kitchen area with least desirable view. furthermore, the electrical in the bathroom went out for many hours and have to shower and other uses in the dark. the room is not as clean as portray in the hotel's advertisement. I was very disappoint with this hotel.
