As a five star hotel the Intercontinental Presidente Cancun resort is alright but not to the level you expect for five stars: upon arrival there was no bottled water in the room, something that is standard in Mexico. We had to ask for it and wait for someone to bring some bottles. The curtains are simple roller blinds that don't block much light. No blackout curtains so you will wake up with the sunrise at 6 AM. The elevator feels like a service elevator (we seriously though we were in the wrong elevator for a moment): small, ugly, and clunky with a noisy fan. The AC in the room kept starting and stopping with a 10 seconds interval on-off-on-off. I booked and paid for an Ocean View room: the view was the roof of a building with a sliver of ocean half a mile away (I complained and they said that in their system this was marked 'ocean view' but they did offer 20% discount on a spa treatment). We were only there for one night, our last night in Mexico; I won't be staying there again.

The hotel is very nice and the staff is wonderful but their pool lounge chairs are very sub par. Also no waiters really to help with drinks pat the pool or beach and no music. Seemed very boring. We needed to go to other hotels for pools. Also the beach is clean on the sand but the ocean is FULL OF SEAWEED and NOT SWIMMABLE. The rooms are great.

Very nice, quiet atmosphere. Staff was extremely nice. Good food options. Great view (Both the ocean view room, and the outdoor areas). Downsides: Very little sound-proofing between rooms. Ice machine on our floor didn't work. Towels had an odd smell. (Room in general did not smell great upon entering for the first time). Overall, would definitely go again.

The hotel has a very lovely pool and beach amenity, with many restaurants, bars and spots to hang out. It is a very nice, well maintained hotel. We only had one night, and had a great time at the pool. The water is warm and pleasant. There is a very short walk between the pool and the beach, and there is plenty of shade with trees, which is appreciated. Would love to return here for an extended stay.

Deflate a little more , make them softer and Quad with trolley will move easier on the sand without need to pit those horrible wooden boards on the sand.Looks horrible! This is a 5 star hotel.
I did off road many years and sand can be teicky , ask me next time .

This place is an absolute gem. The property is gorgeous from every angle, with an elegant and impeccably maintained atmosphere. While some of the rooms are a bit older, they are comfortable, and the stunning views more than make up for it.
The pools are fantastic, the grounds are beautiful, and the service is truly exceptional. Every interaction with the staff was warm and attentive. I am completely enamored with this place and would gladly return again and again.

One night I was in the pool when the supervisor came to take me out, arguing that the closing time had already passed. The interesting thing is that at least six different workers had given me different pool closing hours. I suggested that the supervisor inform all his workers of the correct closing time to avoid this type of incident in the future. Unfortunately he got upset.

Beach is beautiful at this hotel. Food is pretty good as well. Room and bathroom were a tad small and towels had a funky smoky smell but the pool, staff, beach and all else make up for it. We’d happily stay here again.

This was an amazing stay. I’ve never stayed at a place where staff were so attentive! Gustavo at the Caribbean Restaurant was so nice there during our breakfast everyday. He was always so helpful also with questions we had about visiting places or getting to places around Cancun. The pool was amazing and the beach proximity. It was the perfect water for our 3 year old. I will definitely stay here again when in Cancun. But one thing I recommend, the refrigerators should be cooling. Ours did not and I did report it and it was not fixed. Other than that, it was amazing. The resort is very clean and beautiful and in an excellent location.

The Caribbean ocean at this location it’s calm enough to really swim. They included BREAST breakfast was wonderful every morning a different choice at the buffet or a freshly made omelette bar. We definitely recommend this hotel.

This hotel should be rated less than 7. I stayed in Marriot last time which is rated lower but that way way better than this. The rooms are small/conjusted, bath room even more so and no balcony for the rooms. They didn't even provide a drying rack. The rooms give you a motel feeling not a resort. The worst part was the restaurant. It's a open restaurant and those black birds were just sitting on the buffet and gabbing food from the pates. So many people had to literally trash their food and the staff was totally okay with it not bothered at all. Very unhygienic.

The rooms and the hotel in general are really really worn and outdated, certainly so far from the 5 star luxury it aims to claim. It was more reminiscent of a 3 star budget/airport hotel.
Nothing about the place was personal, no staff seemed to bothered by use at check in, lunch, by the pool or at breakfast.

Drinks at the lobby bar were great and so was the staff! Check in was smooth and staff amazing as well. Rooms are in desperate need of remodeling, but very clean and mattress was very comfortable. My only downside was that had a hard time getting hotel to refund my one night deposit due to having to cancel and rebook again as had to increase from 2 to 3 adults in room. Was definitely a battle. Expedia blamed the hotel and hotel blamed Expedia for not refunding my deposit. Other than this, had a pleasant stay.

We got a room with bad sea view and they changed it for us to a better room... but that one was a bit stinky and had a problem with the bathroom door and the shower. This resort is on a beautiful beach, with great rooms and was very clean. Most of the staff was extremely helpful and nice. The serving staff at restaurants was a mixed bag, some quite rude and not interested in giving good service at all, others were wonderful. Restaurants were quite expensive for what was served and drinks just a little too high priced. Beautiful grounds and the beach was amazing with many beach chairs etc the buffet breakfast ($50 US per person) had a great variety of fresh food to choose from. Would return for sure.

Beach is excellent - overall great value. Did have noise in hallway several nights woke us up at 2:30 and 4am and door is not sound proof. Overall I would recommend though. Airport shuttle that hotel arranged did not show so bellman was helpful to get us another after waiting 25 minutes.

Plenty of seating at the beach and no issue getting beach towels. In my opinion the restaurants are overpriced, $510 mexican pesos for buffet breakfast per person and paid $90 CAD for 2 simple entrees, burger & fries and a pesto pasta. Wasn't expecting to pay more in Mexico to eat out than in Canada but I guess these are the going rates at hotel restaurants in Cancun.

We were upgraded on arrival to a bedroom with a large outdoor terrace with sun loungers and palm trees. The bedroom was very spacious and light and the design of the room and bathroom and wardrobe area was excellent. The hotel facilities, lobby, reception and pool areas are all very well presented and well maintained. The location of the hotel is in a bay on a lovely stretch of beach and is a 15 minutes walk from shops, cafes and restaurants. The hotel staff are very welcoming and professional. We had a bed and breakfast package and the breakfast choice was first class. A special mention for our maid, Reyna, who cleaned our room (103) every day and was always smiling and cheerful. We would definitely stay at the hotel again.

Overall the property was great. While I could hear traffic from my main floor bedroom, the pool & beach areas were a little quiet for my standards. This was simply not true. After checking again, we confirmed that there were actually three rooms still available, including ours, which had already been confirmed. Despite this, John brushed us off and continued ignoring us while staring at his computer, offering no effort to resolve the situation.
Customer service is essential in the hospitality industry, and unfortunately this interaction lacked professionalism and basic courtesy. Someone in that role should be able to treat guests with respect and handle situations calmly and efficiently. First impressions matter, and sadly this one was ruined.
Thankfully, Alejandra later stepped in, located our reservation, and quickly resolved the situation. Her professionalism and willingness to help made a big difference and turned around what had started as a very frustrating experience.

I have visited Cancun numerous times and have experienced a variety of resorts, but I cannot recommend this hotel enough. It has been, by far, the best experience I have had in Cancun.
The rooms are clean and spacious, and our suite had a beautiful view of the beach. The food was excellent at both restaurants, and the private beach is absolutely beautiful. The amenities are wonderful, but what truly makes this hotel remarkable is the staff and their exceptional customer service.

This was our second time staying at the InterContinental Presidente Cancun Resort By IHG. The view was breathtakingly beautiful and peaceful, the property is clean and comfortable, and the staff is amazing! They are kind, friendly, engaging, and willing to speak in English and Spanish as your language skills/comfort allow. My 14 year old American daughter would love to see more food and dining options. But, I was content eating at the restaurant on the beach daily. Five stars across the board! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Unfortunately, the issues we reported early in our stay — including the dangerously fluctuating shower temperature and the malfunctioning AC system — were never repaired, despite being reported to the front desk shortly after our arrival on February 14.
The shower temperature would unpredictably shift from warm to scalding hot without warning, creating a legitimate safety concern. The AC unit cycled on and off every few seconds throughout the night, making restful sleep difficult.
Additionally, due to a separate reservation extension, I had originally booked a higher-category Club room for our final night. When the hotel allowed us to remain in our existing room instead, I was asked to sign a downgrade acknowledgment, but no refund or adjustment for the rate difference was offered.
I want to emphasize that the front desk staff were consistently polite and professional. However, the lack of follow-through on reported maintenance issues and the absence of any meaningful service recovery were disappointing, especially given the InterContinental brand and the length and cost of our stay.
My hope is that management will place greater emphasis on resolving guest-reported issues promptly and proactively in the future.
