Pictures showed a hot tub. Hot tub had boards laid over it and pool area was not the cleanest.
Our room had a spill under the bed from previous guests and ants were happy to feast on the uncleaned floor
Breakfast was supposed to be ready at 6. We went down at 6:45,
No coffee and only cold cereal
We will not be staying here again.

Parking was convenient, and the staff were friendly and accommodating. They even went the extra mile to ensure I was placed on the first floor, as I needed to use my walker.

The room itself was clean; however, the door’s safety lock was broken, and the shower diverter would not engage properly. As a result, the water pressure during the shower was poor, with water continuing to flow from the spout.

The staff seemed kind of lost and confused most of the time. I had trouble catching staff a few times when I needed something. I’d be waiting at the front desk for 15+ minutes, even when coming in from outside and making some noise to try to have them notice me. My key got deactivated mid-stay because they checked us out on the wrong day. Our heater/AC didn’t work in our room but they gave us an extra blanket. Our room was either cold or hot and stuffy, there was no in between. There was a dirty sock on the floor when we arrived. The room had ants everywhere and any food we brought in was immediately attacked and had to be thrown out. The hot tub was closed and the pool was so cold we couldn’t get in it. There was a man sleeping in the stairwell when I came up from getting a water from the vending machine which made me feel unsafe. I was woken up multiple times from people in the hallway, someone banged on our door in the middle of the night and the smell of weed was so strong it woke me up.

It did seem like they were doing some renovations - someone was painting the hallway when we arrived and our room was fairly decent. The bed was very comfortable- honestly, one of the best hotel beds I’ve stayed in- however, it was loud and squeaked when you moved. The water pressure was great in the shower. For the most part the room was clean, minus the sock.

I’m not sure I would stay here again. You get what you paid for and thankfully it wasn’t much.

Was not aware the facility was under construction. Entire room smelled terribly of paint. Every noise can be heard, parking was fine, staff was polite, was able to check in early. Pool closed at 8:30, which to me is really early compared to most hotels so we didn’t get to use that.

The building is dilapidated. The pool has a sign closed for maintenance. The jacuzzi is permanently closed, the room for the pool was very cold. We got a room with a pull out couch. It was broken and un able to be pulled out. The heater/ac unit was very loud. The soundproofing beetween rooms was poor and the upstairs elephants were on parade most of the night. Our key cards were deactivated at 9am and staff were unable to issue us working cards for the remainder of our time. The kids were dissaponted and the adults did not sleep. Overall will not return.

Their breakfast is soooo good! I was really impressed. I thought there might be fruit and bagels, but they had sausage gravy and biscuits, a waffle maker, boiled eggs, fruit, yogurt, oatmeal, juices, milk, coffee! It was fantastic! Plus the price was great. Total BARGAIN and easy to get everywhere in DesMoines.

I asked the desk to make the safe in my room accessible, never happened. The hair dryer did not work due to the outlet it was plugged into not resetting the gfi not possible. There was an ironing board but no iron. They had a ridiculous rule you can't take what lack luster offerings they had for breakfast to your guest room. By lack luster i mean old apples, orange juice machine empty, no bagels, donuts, just 2 basic dry cereal options or a waffle machine. Checking in was a nightmare. People were slamming doors constantly throughout the night. The room was clean and looks like they were painting the interior of the place. This was a one and done for me.

The building is being remodeled so things are a bit disheveled. My chief dislike involved noise. My room was faced the street and road noise required running the fan continuously to blot it out. There was also something going on above me that resulted in many thumps and bumps starting at 10:30pm and lasting until after 12:30am. The night manager was ineffective in dealing with it.

The hallway was being painted. The pool is in poor condition. The hot tub pictured is not available at all. Not sure how they possibly host people for the Iowa State fair, their breakfast dining area is only made for 12 people. The sheets were stained. Pictures online are not a match to what we experienced. It made due for 1 night but seemed like we have had better experiences before spending $100 on a room before.

First impression was not great. It had been a week since a big snowstorm, and the parking lot was a disaster. Where were the plows?! I almost slid into 3 cars because no one had plowed in nearly a week!
Then, it took me forever to get checked in, which gave me plenty of time to look around the dingy lobby and start getting a bad vibe.
Once I finally got to my room, I was immediately greeted by the unmistakable pungent odor of wet dog. So, I immediately took out my phone and found another hotel and left without staying another minute.

Walking into the room it smelled very bad, mixture of cigarette smell and other smells. And clean the filters in the air conditioning unit and smell eventually went away. AC unit must not have been draining properly room got extremely humid during the night. Made for an uncomfortable sleep. Other than those two things nice place to stay would probably stay again.

I paid extra for a suite with Two beds and a couch and they out me in just a regular room . The door bell they have for after hours doesn’t work and when you call the hotel no one answers . This hotel used to be a great value and a decent pace to stay but I think it has changed hands and they just don’t care anymore .

I called before booking to make sure pool was working. When I went to check in there was a sign stating pool was closed I told them to give me a minute to see if I could find another place to stay so I walked to my car and checked my bank account and they had already put a hold on my card for the 4 day stay so I went back in and told the guy.i was like um I never checked in and you already put a hold on my card now I can’t look for another place to stay cuz I can’t access that money I was told o sorry. So I’m pissed and said it looks like I have to stay now and was told don’t worry we will credit you back half your money,,well there were tons of other issues with bugs,ants, mold and the pot smoke that filled the whole hotel. Again when checking out I was told give them till Monday afternoon to refund me half my money back and to call if I didn’t see the refund,,,well guess what no refund made several call over the week and finally got word that the big boss said he would be nice and give me $50 back, which I still have not got and it’s been a month, I only book this hotel cuz of the pool and location cuz we’re celebrating my daughter birthday and attending the Iowa horse fair, so I had 3 very disappointed teenagers that couldn’t swim.. I could go on and on about this place I’ve stayed here for 3 years in a row but I guess it’s under new owners and I guess they don’t care, even served cold,rotten food at breakfast so sad

Finally after almost 4 hours went to a different hotel, it'd be nicevto get a refund or a free night sometime but doubt that happens

Didn’t have a great experience here. A lot of homeless people outside around the hotel in the parking lot. Hotel room walls were very thin and could hear conversations in the rooms next door and in the hallway. The rooms were very small and didn’t feel super clean. We experienced someone running in the halls back and forth yelling in the middle of the night.

I am still waiting for the refund of my $100 deposit. The Hotel was fully booked the night we stayed and we obviously got a room that is usually out of service. My husband had to hook up our tv completely. It had everything, but had just been set in the room. The fridge was not where it was supposed to be, it was just plugged in in the corner. And we could tell it wa just plugged in because it wasn't fully cool yet. There were dirty hand smears on the wall, but everything else was clean. So, i don't want to say our experience was the norm. The hot tub was out of service and that was the whole reason we booked at this specific hotel. However, the staff was all fabulous. The breakfast was tasty. The staff definitely saved our stay. I would stay there again just because i feel like if i communicated better with them in the future, I'd get a better room.
