Located in a convenient location in the heart of Shangdi / Zhongguancun. Close to great dining and shopping options. Surrounded by banks. The breakfast included in the daily charge is excellent. Very good staff - they refuse to take tips but I insisted by leaving the money on the bed when I checked out.

Breakfast is awesome! Front desk are super friendly. I ordered many things from the internet to be delivered to the hotel and it was all well stored there before I checked in. Nice massage walking distance and good restaurants in the same block as well.

Comfy Hotel

The hotel is a quite comfortable place, and their breakfast is exceptional. There is some western food as well as Chinese. The outside and surrounding aren't as glamorous as the pictures show, but the inside is very nice. I would stay there again.

Friendly, Convenient, Good Breakfast

The Holiday Inn Express in Shangdi is a wonderful hotel with great amenities - fitness center, laundry, amazing breakfast buffet - and close to the subway. The staff also gave wonderful suggestions for local restaurants. Walk to the north corner, turn left and walk to the next major intersection and turn left again - there are great restaurants and shops on this street and a nice mall with a decent food court about 10 minutes walk south.

Staff at front desk are very helpful and speaks English. Even gave us a late check out. Staffs overall are friendly. Room is nice I love the study table and ergonomic chair. Replenishes bottled water everyday. The aircon is warm though already in max coolest temp. Maybe because of the cold weather outside when we stayed. MTR station walking distance and surrounded by convenience stores restaurants and shops. Thanks HI express Shangdi staff.

Won’t stay here again

I booked this room because it was close to the Summer Place and because it had a high rating of 8.8 out of 10. Wondered how it got such a high rating? Room was small and bathroom was tiny, Manager was rude and uncooperative, breakfast was insufficient with only banana and a few pears. Will never stay here again.

A great place for 5 nights ...

Holiday Inn Express is kind of a known quantity, but this one stood out, especially for the breakfast buffet. I plan to stay here on all my visits to northwest Beijing. I've been traveling to China since 2005, and this was my best experience at a hotel.

pro tip - the Shangdi line of Airport Express ends literally across the street. I wasn't coming from the airport, but it was 30 RMB and 70 minutes during the day. it stops at terminal 2 and 2, and you can't miss the signs at the airport, if you're headed to this hotel.

it's a little harder to find at the hotel end (the buses are behind a long wall, which hides the words \"Airport Bus\" on the sides of the buses, but ask the hotel staff to show you where to look on a map, and you'll be fine.

1. The price is actually not expensive at all.

4. They offered four bottles of free water in the room, and even free fruit!
5. Their free breakfast is amazing! very delicious, a lot of choice.

Enjoyable stay

I enjoyed my stay at the Holiday Inn Express, Shangdi.
It is located about 10 minutes from the subway station, of the same name. In addition, there are various restaurants, a supermarket and a 7 Eleven close by. There is also a Walmart Supercenter two stations away at Zhichunlu (exit B).

The room was clean and comfortable, and the wifi worked great. Once you sign in, you receive a 7 day account. I did not watch t.v., but the bathroom was nice and there was plenty of hot water each day. The hotel provides 2 bottles of water, coffee and tea for free in the rooms.

Breakfast is served each morning in a room just off the lobby. They serve a variety of food, both Asian and Western (eggs, toast, cereal, bacon, sausage). The buffet has different items daily. For example, on Monday, I had bacon, chicken sausage and dumplings with my breakfast. On Tuesday, they had beef sausage, chicken nuggets and what looked like small spring rolls, but were filled with bean paste (not very good), no dumplings, bacon or chicken sausage.

The front desk staff was pleasant, efficient and spoke a good amount of English. I arrived a few minutes before 12 and they allowed me to check in.

I would recommend this hotel and I would stay there again, also the hotel was quiet and there is a sign on the font desk warning of the fine imposed for smoking in the rooms.

A decent place to stay for a few days

I was in Shangdi on a business trip- my distributor is in a building down the street. This was a decent hotel...clean and quiet. The room was maybe a little small but still practical. Nice easy to use desk and both wired and wireless internet which I really appreciated. It was fast enough to download emails and watch Slingbox from home- the cable TV in the hotel was just Chinese TV so the SLingbox was clutch for me. There is a shuttle bus that goes to the airport for 24 yuan which was very handy....it took a litle over an hour to get to the airport. These run every 20 minutes or so. Decent buffet breakfast

I would not advise it

This hotel is not suitable for the Arabs.
Staff do not speak English, so it is hard understanding with them.
Eating it is not suitable for Muslims.
Arabic restaurants too far away and you need to taxi to navigate.
I would not advise it.

Good: location (close to National Mall), room is big and clean, restaurants are close. I booked for one room with two double beds but received TWO connected room with 2 twin beds and one queens bed, plus one TV in each room!!!

A you'd expect from holiday inn

Room ps were nice, spacious and clean, a you'd expect from a holiday inn. It was a bit far out from the main city area but is close to the subway (5-10 min walk) and a 7/11 pretty much next door which was handy. Breakfast was ok with some western options, cereal, fruit, toast and some fry up options some days as well as the normal Chinese breakfast options.

A wonderful hotel in a nice location.

A wonderful experience. The staff were very accommodating and went out of their way at every opportunity to help us find tourist locations and find the way via the tube. They supported me with the process of sending an important document to the uk and the contacted our tour operater who we were struggling to speak to. Breakfast was provided however there was not much of an option. More variety for uk travellers is required: e.g beans, cheeses, etc overall an excellent service.

The hotel is ok and what you would expect from a Holiday Inn, maybe even on the higher end. But although I had reserved a non-smocking room, I was given a smocking room without the possibility of changing as the hotel was fully booked. Comfortable hotel in convenient to Shangdi station

This is a clean and comfortable hotel near the Shangdi subway station on line 13 (about 700 meters north, not south, as their website might imply). There isn't a lot in the neighborhood, but most places are convenient to get to by subway (be warned, though, that at rush hour it is incredibly crowded), the hotel's shuttle (which needs to be better advertised / explained), or a cheap taxi ride (and traffic is not as bad in this part of town). The room was fine, breakfast was good (much better than I expected, given the mediocre reviews of it on this site), and staff were friendly and helpful. Despite street construction right outside my room, it was quiet inside and I was able to sleep with no trouble (a big plus). My biggest wishes would be for a fitness center and for somewhat better information & communication about the hotel's services (especially the shuttle) and neighborhood (where to eat?).

One of the best hotels I have staying in anywhere!

I loved the hotel! The rooms were spacious and like suites, with large luxurious bathrooms, large desks and internet connections for excellent work conditions, a sitting area with a couch and table. All of the furnishings were top quality. The service was excellent, including a free breakfast in a lovely restaurant with a wide variety of offerings and great service. The hotel very efficiently booked a weekend tour of the Great Wall and Ming imperial tombs for myself and a colleague. The staff spoke English were very accommodating. The area surround the hotel was nice and had numerous restaurants nearby (as well as a 7-Eleven convenience store). This was one of my best hotel experiences anywhere in the world.

Hotel location is good, near ShangDi Subway.
Breakfast is OK. Not great by western standards, but fine to start the day without having to go out.
Rooms are clean, internet is good, service is fine with english speaking counter help.
DEFINITELY take the CHINESE language directions if taking a cab from Airport.
There's a VERY small chance of finding a cabbie who could even read the english address or directions. If nothing else, find instructions in Chinese to ShangDi subway, and you can see it from there.
