However, it is a very convenient location for touring around the city. Especially taxi fare is inexpensive. Meter starts at RMB$10.

Very good hotel in a great location

Old and 2nd hand smoke hotel

This hotel is quite old; however I expected some kind of Japanese service. To my disappointment, the staff would rather chat with other, but not help me to get the luggage out of the taxi.

The breakfast buffet is also disappointing, with very limited choice. The fruit is not fresh, and the coffee machine is run down.

Very poor air quality in the room. You can have 2nd hand smoke every day, leaking from the air conditioner.

Good value, friendly staff, nice hotel

The employees were friendly and helpful. I was upgraded to an executive floor room which was very spacious and comfortable. There were some visible wall/ceiling repairs and carpet stains but otherwise in good condition. I requested a late check out which they accommodated. Big breakfast selection. I would definitely stay there again.

an excellent 5 star standard hotel

The location is central in town. The service and facilities are 5 star standard. of course, we were upgraded to executive floor as member and the room was excellent. Breakfast spread was good too so much so that u could not sample every item. staff provides good service and not intrusive. location is convenient downtown but tourist destinations are some distance away, so it's more a business hotel. The old tram stops in front of the hotel, parking is convenient but may be charged. The free drinks promised were not provided, although early check in was. Overall a good restful stay.

The rom is clean and comfortable, but the room condition is getting old, the bath room supplies are not fullly refilled, the service is not as friendly either, for one harmony royal member used to get upgrade, but now there are almost no benefit at all

4 star hotel at a slightly more economical price

Nikko hotels tend to be very well maintained, as was this one. Focus on details means very unlikely to encounter complaints about the room. The building itself seems getting old, but actual rooms are all fine. Location is good ... though a bit less so than those right on RenMin Road. That's because 2 blocks behind the hotel are the railroad tracks, so along the tracks the establishments get a bit low end, so one is unlikely to find food or other establishments where a tourist or businessperson would want to enter. That said, going forward from the hotel entrance you go right to the heart of the city.

Net, as long as the rates stay ~US$15 less than other 4 star chains, it's a good deal to stay here, even if location is slightly less convenient than right on Renmin Lu.

The staff where great but the hotel room was dirty and in overall poor condition .Beds uncomfortable and hotel restaurant advertising was for hundreds of dim sum dishes and turned out to be 25 dishes with 1/3 not available

Overall a very good stay. The hotel is right in the centre of the business district and close to the 'Russian street' which is full of old colonial buildings and makes for an interesting afternoon wander.
The staff made some good recommendations for local restaurants serving good seafood and were courteous each time we asked questions.
Good strong shower, huge rooms with big windows. The gym, sauna/steam room area was great but the temperature of the swimming pool was too low. Additionally, having to wear a swimming cap in a hotel that professes to be 5 stars is a bit ridiculous and kind of... 1970's.
Breakfast has a giant selection of Chinese and Western food but lower your hopes for the standards. Bread/patisserie items not great, no fresh orange juice, but eggs cooked to preference, nice fresh yoghurt and acceptable coffee.

Stayed at this hotel for several times. Always quick and positive responce to any issue which might come up. Japanese made heated toilets is a plus :) Good restaurants around the hotel. Easy to find a taxi.

A regular hotel!

So so experience - nothing to wow about. Counter staff are friendly but restaurant service (breakfast) was a let-down - crew were dressed shabbily, appeared flustered and inexperienced, asked what I wanted to drink but never came back with my order, my unused napkin was dirty and removed upon request but not replaced, chair handle was broken etc. WIFI is only available in the main lobby/public area, which is inconvenient.

Mainly catering for Japanese people (of which I saw only one man) it feels like a Japanese hotel. No problem with this though.

Clean and safe? Absolutely.

The only four complaints:
1. Doors were slamming in the corridor until past midnght. It may have been a janitors' room next to mine, or it may have been loud fellow guests.
2. English was particularly scarce. Yes, it is China, but it is a major hotel.
3. There was a train sound (or something) every 30 minutes. BIG RUMBLE SOUND. I guess it stops during regular sleeping hours.
4. As I was site seeing, the surrounding area was boring.

Apart from all of these negatives, Hotel Nikko is a very professional setup. A good place to stay.

Hotel price and staff no complaints, one is not over crowded by staff and house keeping are to perfection. The green idea is good in regards to bed linen and laundry.Personal laundry very handy and economical. Staff could speak a good english and understand. Management also very helpful. Breakfast a large variety of tastes to please,cafe, beer restaurant also nifty, i would recommend this hotel and any of the JAL hotels quite easily to friends and family.Regards John Sydney, Australia

I loved the clean, stylish room. and comfortable bed. There was an excellent lock on the inside of door, so it felt very secure. The staff here were very helpful and spoke enough English to answer my questions. The Dalian Central Market and many other sights were close by and within easy walking distance. They also provided bottled water in my room each day, free of charge (although other items were available at a mini-bar). I moved here from the Hotel Furama after a few days there and found Nikko to be a better overall experience. In particular, my non-smoking room had no trace of smoke and was very bright and stylish.

they only turn ain condition on, in rooms, during summer. I was there in may, with temperatures aorund 20~22 and was complicated to sleep because the heat in room. for a hotel who claims to be 5 star, they should give the traveller the option to turn on or off the air inside his own roon

I stayed in this hotel just for 1 night in Jan 2012. This 5 star hotel offer great service and comfort with an excellent view of the city. However...
The complementry interent is very poor in the room, slow and disconnect every 5-10mins!! Which means frequent trip to the lobby for a stable connection, not so practical!
The second, maybe less important detail is the kettle provide in the room is a VERY SLOW type which means takes up to 30mins to heat up the water and does not boil to 100C - maybe around 80C. It is fine if you like a \"warm\" cup of coffee or tea, but I prefer my coffee and tea made with \"boiling\" water!!

Overall, the hotel is great and offer real value for money as long as you are fine with a poor internet connect and less desirable coffee/tea.

室内設備も日本語で案内がありわかりやすかった。
ジムがいつも開いており、利用した。種類もたくさんあった。

施設が少々古いです。
エグゼクティブルーム予約でエグゼクティブラウンジを使用して仕事などしようかとしましたが工事中で使用できませんでした。
工事中で使用不可は予約時に通知もなければ、チェックイン時にも説明がなく、部屋にも案内文がおいていなかったです。
エグゼクティブルームの32階に行ったら真っ暗…フロントに聞いたら使えないからとの一言で終わりました。
他の方も書き込んでいましたが、冷蔵庫が冷えないです。
普通の部屋タイプを予約すればよかったです。

2泊しましたが日本語が話せる職員がおらず、英語もコミュニケーションできないので、通訳アプリで会話しないといけませんでした。

フィットネスジムは設備は古いながらもウェイトトレーニングや有酸素運動のマシンが充実していました。

①施設が古いせいもありますが部屋のクーラーがあまりきかない。
②朝食会場のレストランスタッフの質が三つ星ホテル以下です。
③午後8時を過ぎるとロビー横のカフェ店も閉まりコーヒーを飲むところもありません。
④部屋の掃除は最悪でポットの中は汚く湯を沸かしたらお茶の葉っぱなど汚い色のお湯になりました。また洗面付近も髪の毛がたくさん落ちており最悪です。
総評:ここは五つ星ホテルでなく三つ星ホテルクラスです。とても日航ホテルとは思えない最悪です。
