Poor cleanliness...dead cockrach in toilet & cupboards... unclean toilet. Reception guy is rude switching off the dryer when used .
Not happy with the stay.After 9 pm, the reception guy chit chatting in front of our room with loudy noise. Never recommend the stawell motel to anyone

The room was very clean. The bed was comfortable but the base is on wheels and moves around when you get in. The security chain on the door was broken. The water saving shower head meant a very slow and somewhat unsatisfying shower. The location was quiet. The pool appeared to be well maintained. The air con cooled a hot room down quite quickly but would have been nice if it had been turned on before we arrived on a 40 degree day.

Good price, but you get what you pay for - budget motel for sure. Arrived 7:30pm and office was closed with a note on the door (supposed to be open until 10pm), no email/text was sent, so had to use international roaming on my mobile to call and find out about check in. Room was left open with key inside - not safe or secure! 3 glasses in fridge wrapped in paper for guest use - they were disgustingly filthy - looked like they had been wiped with a dirty cleaning cloth - gross! Live TV said \"no signal\". Road noise was very loud (trucks going by), and I was awakened at 5am by noisy car engine next door (since parking is only a few feet from unit and doors/windows do not block noise). Office also closed when I left at 9:40am so apparently reception is not really there - remote checkin/out is OK these days, but at least send an email/text with instructions.

The service from the staff member when we checked in was lovely. She was very happy and helpful. The room is very clean , tidy and presented lovely. The only downside was the carpark, when other guest park two cars one behind the other in a single carpark and it makes if difficult to get out as there is very little room to manoeuvre between the cars and the buildings. Perhaps people with additional cars should park one out of the road. Other than that, we would definitely return.

I can't sleep next to the highway

We thought it was too noise due to its location next to the highway wich it is frequent by big trucks. The restaurant and bar weren't open and the pictures on the web site were not the same as the reality. It was very disappointing.

After a long day on the road we returned to the motel at 7pm to discover that neither the bar or resturant were open. When we had checked in at 3pm, before our next appointment, there was no mention of this. There was a sign on the door which advised that the resturant was closed 'Sunday'. Had we been advised that the resturant and bar would not be open we would have made alternative arrangements or stayed elsewhere. When we asked for a refund so we could arrange alternatate accomodation it was denied, with the excuse, \"My chef isn't coming in, what do you want me to do about it?\"
The suggestion of arranging another chef was scoffed at.

Sadly to say, we remained the night as we did not wish to pay for a second room elsewhere.

After locating a meal elsewhere, which was not easy as the pub was crowded with the local football club function and the other options included the noodle bar and a pizza/burger place. When we returned to Eco Lodge for the night we noticed that the doona didn't even have a cover. How do they clean the dooner between guests? Yuck.

Room was well appointed for star rating but bathroom needs updating and water pressure to shower was poor to the point of being hazard of burning or freezing.
Bar and restaurant area had no seating for drinking other than dining tables and venue was very cold and when we asked for the fireplace to be lit were told by staff they weren't allowed to. Had the ambience and warmth of fire been accommodated we would have dined in for a meal with accompanying drinks instead we did so at a hotel down the road spending just over $100 which we would have spent at the Econo lodge if they were more amenable.

Handy highway motel for travellers

It was ok for what it was. Quite run down, badly needs a refurbishment, but clean and neat. Wouldn't stay more than one night. I was especially disappointed in the \"kitchenette\", it was very, very poorly stocked. Spending $100 at kmart on some more crockery, cutlery, basic kitchen implements, saucepan and even matching wineglasses, would make SUCH a difference. The owners clearly don't want to encourage self-catering, which is their choice, but why add an extra fee to the rates for an almost deceptively advertised facility?
