I hate to give 2 stars to such a good property with good rooms , excellent heritage vibes and with all facilities but staff and service was terrible. As we entered our luggage was unloaded and brought to our room for more than an hr. Room phones werent working so had to go to desk to get internet started. Anything you request from staff and front desk would take forever to be entertained even breakfast service the waiter forgot our orders and vallet service is non existent.
I wish this facility would be run better with adequate staff so i can give it 5 stars which it deserves.

Comfortable but not authentic

We booked the hotel since it was advertised as a heritage hotel & expected authentic Rajasthani food. While the hotel decor and hospitality were good (though playing western music instead of Indian!) we were disappointed to find that the breakfast and hotel menu catered mostly to international guests. Would have been good if they served guests the Rajasthani specialities like Da Baati Churma, Laal Maas , Ker Sangri . Even the evening dance program while entertaining is short & targeted for the international tourists.

Give it a skip if you are looking for authentic Rajasthani hospitality.

Beautiful hotel, poor service

This hotel is beautiful. We chose a room in the middle of the price range, and it was wonderful with an extra seating area and a stunning bathroom. The service, however, did not match that quality. After we checked in, I tried calling housekeeping to ask for more hangars (only three in the closet for two people for four days) and glasses. Phone didn't work, so I went to the front desk to ask. Nothing happened, so the next day I found someone from housekeeping and was promised the items would be sent right away. Nothing happened. I gave up and draped my clothes over the closet rod. The glasses, even in our bathroom, never once were changed during the four days, so we rinsed them out as best we could. Wifi never worked. Breakfasts were adequate, nothing special. The only truly good service was in the rooftop restaurant where we enjoyed pleasant dinners.

Nice, Comfortable hotel

We stayed for three nights as part of a visit to Jaipur and Agra.
The hotel is beautiful, it is lavishly furnished and recreates a sense of days of old.
We arrived late at night and had been given a twin bedded room rather than the KIng sized bed we had booked. In the morning, after a disturbed nights sleep due to sleeping in a single sized bed I requested a room change which at first they told me was not possible due to the hotel being full. After an unnecessary heated discussion the room change was made available. The following lunch time food in the restaurant was from a limited menu due to staffing issues which meant we couldn't eat what we would have liked.
Breakfast was buffet style with plenty of choice and good quality.
Wifi was very poor.
It was a comfortable stay but a little spoilt by not being given the room that was booked and then argumentative reception staff not wishing to change the room.

Good location. We were in a standard room a floor below the terrace and unfortunately it was very noisy at night with tables and chairs being moved.
One of the bed covers did have a mark on it.
The staff were helpful and checked that you were happy with everything.

Wonderful service in a beautiful hotel

My second stay here and I'd recommend this hotel without a doubt. The staff are friendly, professional, courteous and try their very best to accommodate guests' requests.
The breakfast buffet was great, everything looked fresh and clean and it was nice to have the garden just outside the restaurant.
Shahpura House is ornate and a one-of-a-kind place :)
Stay here if you're in Jaipur.

Honestly one of the best hotels EVER.

Lovely decor although a bit stuffy. Very clean. Bathroom is a thing of joy. I believe the Internet is fast but I can’t remember. Staff is courteous and thoughtful. They cleaned my room in the morning and again when I went out again in the evening without being asked. Very thoughtful. Stuff is also informative and helpful. Nice breakfast selection. Nice pool and spa. Very reasonable taxi prices. Will definitely stay there again

Raj Palace that’s a living, breathing residence

Raj Palace that’s a living, breathing residence. We spent almost an hour exploring every nook and cranny in this amazingly beautiful, historic property. The staff simply wanted to do everything for you, ultra clean, bedroom appeared dated upon entry but was very, very comfortable with all modern amenities. Buffet breakfast was very good. Did not use spa services, hotel shop very fair value for price. Plenty of bottled water, no charge and local fruit only a phone call away.
We hired a car to pick up at 00:30 (12:30am) to drive to Taj Mahal and then to New Delhi - Upon request this hotel had a fresh travel breakfast ready for the two of us when we checked out. They also helped out with translating with local cab drivers.

Going from the Taj Mahal Towers in Mumbai (5-Star best hotel experience) to Shahpura House was like time traveling but still having an amazing hotel experience.
We plan to visit Jaipur again and would stay here, no hesitation. Probably would pay for a higher level room with a terrace.
I am so excited to share this review-these people get everything just right - different from the Taj, in a good way.

Awesome hotel

This hotel is located in a residential area. The entrance is unimpressive, but inside, it can rival any 4 star hotel. It is impecably clean! The hotel is a heritage building so it is full of character. It is beautifully done up! the areas for improvement are the towels and beddings. If these can be upgraded to international standards, it would be excellent. Bathroom fittings are hansgrohe! There are 3 restaurants within this hotel, and both local and western cuisine are available. Although this hotel is set in a residential area, I strongly recommend it for anyone who wants 4 star comfort and does not eat to stay in a typical international chain.

This hotel is a must experience, old castle was rebuilt into a hotel- boutique, the rooms are so beautiful and clean, decorated Indian royal style. Bathrooms are spacious, clean, with marble counter tops and floors. The staff is very friendly and goes out of their way to make guests feel welcomed. The hotel itself is so beautiful, after the check-out we spent another hour just wandering around and looking at all the beautiful decor. We were there for just one night and I can’t wait to go back and spend more time there.

Heritage Delight !!!

Had an amazing stay at Shahpura House with my Wife. We were hoping for a cozy getaway with a heritage twist and that's exactly what Shahpura House offered and delivered. Very Comfortable, Cozy and beautiful property with extremely warm hospitable service. Rooms are spacious and have all modern amenities required for a comfortable stay. Restaurants within the hotel have great food specially Rasa, the Indian Cuisine Restaurant. However, I believe the buffet breakfast spread was below par and can be improved with some additional variety and improvement in quality of food. Specially South Indian and Indian items in the buffet breakfast (Vada, Sambar, Dosa, Chutney, Paratha and Sabji) need considerable improvement and are much below par.

All-in-all a very cozy, comfortable and warm experience for us at Shahpura House. A big thank you to the management and the staff for making us feel so comfortable and for a very enjoyable stay.

Really disappointed by this hotel. It's gone down hill in 2yrs and the service provided was very poor.
Lacked basic elements and when issues were raised nothing was done about it. Even to the point where we could not have a second door card to access the room.
Check it and out were terrible experiences.

This is a beautiful property with a pool and great place to have breakfast in the mornings. In a semi gated neighbourhood but autorickshaws can be found at the end of the street or summoned by the hotel. Staff really good.

Jaipur Experience

The hotel building ,paintings structure depicts the richness of culture. It has a lot of character. Structure , decor is pleasing to the eye.
I picked Shahpura House because I wanted to feel that I was in India and I wasn't disappointed. It has the feel of an Indian Palace.
The staff are friendly and eager to please, the pool is clean and its in a great location.I definitely will stay here again.

I loved the hotel, it is so beautiful. It was a beautiful Moharajah house that is turned into the hotel. Rooms are like a suite with beautiful Moharajah style furniture. Our room was on the third flour, all the room in this flour are open to a huge balcony with a view of the city. You could sit in the balcony and chat with other gusts. Breakfast was Ok. I loved the hotel restaurant, they set the tables on the second flour balcony, they have Indian live music and dance, food is good with a reasonable price.

Solo but superb trip

I stayed at this lovely hotel for 7 nights. It is has a heritage ambience, uplifting your spirits and connecting to history. The administration is so well done and staff members are well-trained. Food was marvelous and enjoyed the 'ker-sangri' preparation a lot.The puppet show and dance performances every night gave a break that was needed from autonomous tourist's life. Shopping was easy too...also visited places in and around jaipur making my trip more fulfilling.Would recommend this hotel and visit it again with my husband too..Worth every bit of money spent.

I loved staying here. The staff was so very nice and helpful. Food was delicious. The room was beautiful. I am slightly handicapped and the staff was so very accommodating and helped me with steps (just a few) and access to buffet. A Holi bonfire was just down the street and a staff member (Mr. Singh) helped me get there with my walker. Dining room staff were so kind and helpful. Mr. Nagebi in the dining room was especially nice when I dined there. Loved my stay here.

New Year's stay

Hotel itself is interesting, being a heritage hotel. Unfortunately we got a room at the top of the stairs which meant we heard all the other guests and hotel staff as they went up and down the stairs. Breakfast buffet was limited and uninspired. Waiters tended to get in the way as they were more interested in greeting guests than serving. If you use an item from the mini bar they wont replace it the next day, instead if you want more they will send it up as an in-room dining item - that way they charge the in-room dining price which includes all the taxes plus surcharge etc.

The New Year's Eve dinner on the rooftop was mandatory for all guests (in all fairness they did tell us that when we booked) however they served only Indian food (which was not very tasty), did not include even one glass of alcohol and we were given a table right next to the entertainment which meant extremely loud music and no opportunity to talk to each other. Two in our party were sick that day and couldn't attend but we still had to pay for the dinner which wasn't cheap.

The hotel policy of not allowing friends to visit is just ridiculous. I can not in good conscious recommend a place like this for that reason alone. On a side note, they do offer a great complimentary continental breakfast buffet :)

Nice Hotel in the heart of the Jaipur City

Well maintained property and nice condition of rooms makes a nice experience during the stay. The hotel Staff was cooperative & friendly and they also upgraded our deluxe room to suite. However, the restaurant was bit expensive but nice food and folk dance evening shows. Breakfast was just awesome and almost all you need to start your day.

Although we only used it once the swimming pool was a bonus to relax at the end of a days sightseeing. We had a great time staying at Shahpura. All 15 of us found good rest in the midst of all the hustle of jaipur. The service was great, breakfast was good, the room was fantastic. We even got upgrades to Shahpura suites. Thanks.
The only thing is, at times we felt its a little crowded, maybe because we were 15 of us.

Royal Heritage Hotel in Jaipur

I was born in Jaipur and grew up in my ancestral home there. I have since then based outside of India for more than 20 years and travelled extensively in different parts of the globe. We have stayed in some of the best 5-star hotels around the world. We stayed at Shahpura House while attending a family wedding in Jaipur recently. I loved the place cos of its ancient historical background and the interiors which gives an authentic royal Rajasthani touch. The staff are very courteous and communicate well in English and local language. Room services was very good. The location of the hotel is also very central to the city with tourist attractions including the walled city few minutes drive.

Great heritage hotel

If you're looking for something different than the standard 5 star experience with modern decor and continental food then this is the right place for you. The decor of the property transports you to a bygone Rajputana era with wall paintings , fresco and fountains from those days. The rooms are spacious with the same decor as rest of the hotel. Ever group of rooms (3-4) have a seating area outside . The furnishing again is very antique. But the best part is the dinner at night on the rooftop with traditional Rajasthani music accompanied by mujra ( Indian Dance form) and puppet show.

Definitely not recommended

I don't like people expecting tips because they book us in and then give us a 20 second dissertation on the hotel history. I don't like tired looking bedrooms and most of all I don't like being awoken at midnight by a bunch of noisy local party goers who never shut up until 4 am Shame on you Shahpura for putting a bunch of drunken revellers before your other guests. I hope nobody with any sense comes to your hotel.

Step into the Past

Stayed there 2 nights on recent trip to Jaipur. It's a former royal residence that was turned into a hotel. So each room is a bit unique. Air conditioning worked well and rooms were clean- beds a bit hard. Don't expect much in amenities. Staff very friendly. Small pool. My daughter got a massage at the spa and said it was very good. Not much in the neighborhood, so you will either eat at hotel or take a taxi. Staff arranged for a car and guide for our tours (very reasonable). It was very much as I expected from reviews. No problem, better than most, but a bit rustic. Only about 15 minutes by car from train station.

Absolutely delightful heritage hotel. Eric was our host and made sure everything was perfect. He even arranged for breakfast to be packed up for our 6AM train. The pool and spa were a very nice touch after a very hot day slogging through the sights, forts, and over zealous merchants. In the evening there was music and dancing with our dinner on the terrace restaurant.

Great character, I would stay again.

This was a really nice hotel and close to Jaipur train station. The period theme worked well and I did not find it tacky, it added to the experience. We found some packaging from someone's new Calvin Klein underwear down the back of the sofa which was quite amusing, but overall the cleanliness was fine. Bed was comfortable. Staff were a little slow but the dance show in the restaurant was excellent and well worth seeing. A boy balances more and more pots and pans onto the head of a colourfully dressed local lady who then spins around at high speed and even stood on some small stilts. Very entertaining. Nice balcony overlooking the pool, view not great, but then there's isn't much view to see in that area of Jaipur. One taxi driver was agonisingly slow, even compared to the most tedious of Indian drivers, which we explained to the staff and they got us a much faster driver the next day. If you're in a hurry I'd make sure you request not to get the slow guy. I'm sure we're not the only guests to mention it so they'll probably know who you mean!! There were a few \"gap yah\" types around but they behaved. Nice hotel, I would stay again.

Fantastic hotel

What a lovely hotel ! If you want to stay in central Jaipur and get a taste of the old style grandeur of days gone by you will not be disappointed - at risk of sounding twee, this was a tranquil oasis within the mayhem of the surrounding city.

The staff could not do enough to help,including via pre-visit email exchanges to amend our itinerary. The dry sense of humour of the lead waiter (with whom I exchanged several knowing glances as he professionally and expertly dealt with the demands of his more challenging guests - \"I was expecting more soy sauce with this dish, change it for me\") was confirmed when I chatted with him late one evening as he mounted his scooter to ride home - a fantastic asset for the hotel and I only wish I could recall his name.

My personal tip would be to check that central Jaipur is the right location for you - there is a strictly limited range of European quality restaurants in the area, and we didn't see a single bar outside of an hotel. If you look to travel by foot you will be immersed in the hustle and bustle of the streets, including being seen as a fair and approachable target by all tuk tuk drivers; there are a lot of them ! As long as you are expecting and accepting of this, you will really enjoy your stay, otherwise the \"chain\" hotels (Radisson, Marriot etc.) on the fringes of the city, and taxi rides in and out of the centre, may suit you better.
