Parking terrible- got locked in the parking lot which is outside the premises and if anything happens they aren’t responsible, when I told the receptionist all he did was give me a smirk and gave some lame excuse

Rooms- Old, humid, dirty almost nothing is provided but a miserable soap, no blue towels for the pool, no shampoo nothing!!

Facilities- Even worse than the rooms, might as well not bother

Food- Worse part of it all definately not a buffet you have 4 options at most, we are at the beach for crying out loud and there’s only 5 fruits to pick from, at least a “ceviche” but no… there’s more bread than food and the bread is terrible

Wifi/ Charging pots don’t work

It was very difficult to check-in late, past 10pm. There was far too much confusion and delays. They picked up the breakfast buffet 45 minutes early each morning. They added a hidden charge of $140, whiuch Expedia got refunded to me. The place and the rooms are beautiful, but the attitude and service is despicable.

The air conditioning doesn't work and if it works you don't feel it at all. We spent hot nights. The buffet breakfasts were very good although they did not have a variety of milk or gluten-free foods.

The redeeming thing was the very attentive and helpful staff, excellent attitude and friendliness, they try to solve things the best they can.

The food from the menu was bad, the taste from the fish was not fresh, I tried 2 days and both times was a bad taste.
Hotel should concentrated in good food, Ecuador had a big variety of very famous dishes.
The breakfast buffet was ok but not great.

Hotel is unkempt, there are many areas that need to be painted. Chairs in rooms and dining room are stained. Food was average. The only positive thing about this hotel was the staff, they belong in a higher quality hotel. I definitely would not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Their internet access policy is infuriating you need a new access code effective around midnight but cant get one until the front desk staff arrives between 6 and 7 am.

This is a gem in the area. Very clean and the food is great. Unfortunately, I think I came at the wrong time. The staff were busy with preparations for a large event and did not have time to host the facilities. Overall, you can get to the hotel with Uber from a major city, going back you might need to find alternative transportation. Uber does not work in Salinas. The hotel has 3 nice pools, great facilities, a nice cafe, and the staff is helpful. Definitely book the ocean view patio suites if you can, it costs more, but worth it. The city view is not so good. Swimming in the ocean is great because the hotel walks out onto the ocean and you can sunbathe on the roof with lots of privacy.

The hotel is completely abandon, the pools (3 of them) has no filtration system as a result bugs are all over the pools is disgusting, the walls paint is coming off, the balcony rails they are glass in the rooms are super dirty. The bathroom borders looks moldy absolutely disgusting, the toilet seats are broken, the bar soap holder in the bathroom sink are rusty. The tables in the pool areas are rusty, you can see a big crack in one of the balconies in the building the one facing the pool in the 3rd floor. You call front desk no one answers. Wifi almost never work. For a $200.00 per night weekday and $245 per night on weekend this hotel is not worth it.
Sorry I never give bad reviews but the place is a dumpster, I felt they took my money and did not offer NOTHING worth the money. Is a shame Hilton put their name on that place!

No idea why we could not check in at noon. The hotel was NOT busy. 30 guests total in a huge hotel. The internet voucher she gave us only lasted a few hours. We were there for two days.
I guess she wanted us to go to the bar to watch the World Cup. Service was really bad in there.

Pésima experiencia costo beneficio, el hotel está a punto de cerrar, piscina climatizada que no la climatizan porque no hay huéspedes, uno la pide y le ponen temperatura pero regresa a probar y ya está fría porque nadie se quedó.
El gimnasio tiene las maquinas viejas, malas y oxidadas.
Pésimas opciones de desayuno, muy muy poco variado y muy limitado por lo pocos huéspedes que se quedan, pagué $160 entre semana y $200 fin de semana, se obtiene lo mismo que los hoteles de $40 de la zona, mejor no ir.
El internet nunca funciona, siempre me quejé y me indicaban que iban a solucionar y nunca funcionó.
En sí, todo muy mal, el cobrar por algo que no vale lo que uno paga.
La cama doble no es doble, es para una persona, mejor busquen otra opción.

It’s a very nice Hotel. You can tell that COVID was rough on the immediate area, businesses being shuttered, etc. It was apparent that the hotel is back in business and getting maintenance completed. The hotel bar looks like it could be the most popular on the street. The best part of the Hotel was the employees. From housekeeping to the front desk, all wonderful, accommodating people. Cheers!

Hotel colon is know as an all inclusive resort, even though it says drinks will be included from most bars that is not true, there is one bar by the pool and one that is across from the cafe but ir is only open on weekends. We stayed 3 nights, two of the three nights there was no main entery for dinner , so guess what....they looked at you and you got the famous answer \" no se\".....spoke with the manager and he apologized for the poor service , he offered us dinner off the menu, we went to dinner and there was no food at all in the buffet so ordering off the menu was the only option, he was very dishonest and unprofessional. That afternoon we were at the pool and there was no service the bar was not open and there was no music. Spoke with the management again they claimed there was not enough people at the hotel to staff the bar, but this was all inclusive, I said you were glad to take my money and promised service in return. No service no refund no food. The manager was English speaking he promised compensation for the poor service, we were supposed to meet at checkout......and guess what happened he was in a meeting.

Good enough, not fancy, people are nice and friendly. Food average, drinks included only local alcohol. You have to pay for WiFi which is not right when you are a guess paying $230 for the night. We got sick one day not sure if it was something we eat at the hotel buffet style dinner or just a virus. Overall we had a good experience and fun time because I was with family and friends. I feel the Hotel is pricey for what is included.

The front desk appeared disorganized. If you only speak English and very little Spanish you will struggle. They did not try to accommodate requests for room changes, even with offers to pay for upgraded rooms. There is a new tower that may be less run down than the original.

Close to beach but paid extra for sea view and was given 5th floor so it was difficult to see the ocean. Not worth upgrading for any “view”. At check in I asked for a higher floor but was told there were none available. It was low season on a Tuesday, and this didn’t make sense. Later I was told by the doorman that the upper floors are residences. I was grateful for the explanation that neither the front desk nor the manager would give us. Also paid extra $15 for WiFi access per day. Food was not up to our expectations. I’m from Ecuador and love Ecuadorian food but it was not what I would expect from a nicer hotel. We ended up eating at local restaurants which were great. Do not waste your money on this hotel.

Nice hotel near nice beaches

We booked the all-inclusive package as my wife and I were planning to just walk to the beach underneath the hotel and other beaches nearby. Check in was very fast and the hotel staff was very friendly as they were always ready to serve. Food was very good and they served all kinds of dishes. Rooms were very spacious and, apparently, they have recently renovated the facilities.
One of the major disappointments was that the beach right below the hotel is covered by gravel and seashells, making it difficult to vacationers to get into the ocean. You have to walk perhaps half a mile along the coastline to get to a sandy beach. If you walk 3/4 of a mile (or take a cab for US$ 1.50) you can get to Chipipe Beach. Waters are calm and warm.and it is safe.
We had a chance to also tour the beachs along the Ruta del Sol, just North of Salinas. There are beautiful beaches like Olon, Montanita, Ayangue and others that are worth visiting. Scenery is fantastic and they are specially good for surfers. We also visited La Chocolatera and La Lobera. La Chocolatera is a place were sea currents meet, generating sediment removal like \"chocolate\". La Lobera is an island where sea lions rest and you can see them from an observatory covered by a canopy.
There are karaoke sessions at night and also a show with local artists.

this hotel treats guests as if we are thieves. The hotel is understaffed, Signing in took 30 minutes as there was only 1 clerk on duty. 2 people are required each with a social security# or Ecuadorian ID to be responsible for any damages You are assigned 3 cards for 3 pool towels irregardless of how many stay in the room. if you lose any cards, or the key card they will charge you extra. Internet is not included, it will cost PER PERSON. The rooms have only one window, if you do not get an ocean view with sliding doors, the city view is like being in a cave, only one small window with a very ugly view of the surrounding streets . ocean view will cost quite a bit extra. My room had bad water stains on the ceiling, cracked sink. The pathways were clean, but areas behind the doors or the edges of the hallway were dirty. The food is decent, all inclusive but there are not enough waiters, so you have to wait for drinks or assistance. The pool is clean. there are cheeseburgers, hot dogs, fries, soda included, however there is a long wait with only one person cooking.
All during the stay, you sense that there must be a tremendous theft problem, because you really feel like you are treated like a thief. Checking out was no exception, since you have to wait in line while they remove the cheap bracelet from your arm. I cannot understand why they would want them back unless they are afraid you will try to continue eating there .

Simply meets expectations

We stayed at the Barcelo Colon for several days the first week of December. This is before high season starts and we expected it to be quiet.

Renovations on the larger pool were complete and construction on the new beach side property were well underway.

Although it was low season, food was more difficult to come by than we expected. The hotel is all inclusive, but it was easier to order off of the non-existent menu at the pool bar for lunch than it was to find anything in the restaurant. Dinner was a similar story, but we ate offsite each night for dinner, which again, we expected.

That said, whether at the beach, pool, or bar, drinks were readily available without any issue.

The wifi is very spotty, even in the rooms and drops frequently. There is no free wifi available in the first floor restaurant and bar, and near the pool it is near impossible to get a signal unless you are against the building.

I will commend the staff that they did arrange transport for us from Guayaquil to the hotel. Even when we our flights changed at the last minute, a single e-mail was enough to update the driver.

Salinas experience

Hotel was right on the ocean so could hear the waves all night long. Hotel package included all meals (and drinks) which was OK for a short stay. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby. Neighbourhood changes after about 2 streets back. Plenty of water sports on offer nearby. Hotel provided free open air parking. Getting out of Salinas and finding road north to Manta was a bit tricky. Overall probably the best place to stay in Salinas.
