Beautiful, great location but not clean

The location was excellent on monkey forest road and hidden away amongst rice terraces. The buildings were beautiful and pools lovely, but the rooms were not clean, the mattresses incredibly uncomfortable and the bathrooms were not cleaned at all.

I would love it if the management updated this place, it was in a perfect location, it is incredibly beautiful and the staff lovely but it really needs a proper cleaning.

Bathroom needs scrubbing. Toilet had a brown ring and was ancient. It was not stinky so I was happy to use it. But the fixtures, walls, toilets all needs good scrubbing. Otherwise the property was decent. Beautiful outdoor, staff was very friendly.

Good location 10 min walk to either Ubud market or the monkey forest. Very friendly staff. Comfortable bed and pillow - probably gets hotel bed we’ve had.
Staff were happy to let my 5 year old son feed the fish, and taught him to talk to the pet birds in Indonesian. Pools are nice. Good little shallow areas for kids too. Overall rooms could use a revamp, but all in all got what we paid for we feel. Some building happening around outside of the hotel - nothing they can control. Would happily stay again

Great location. The property is set back from the main Street. So it’s nice and quiet when you need to rest, but walkable to stores, restaurants, spas, etc. Rice field view and visiting monkeys are a plus for our family. The units are older and can be updated but for the price, we would stay here again.

The dirtiest place that we have ever stayed - dirty bed linen(dried blood on the pillowcase), hair in the bathroom, filthy toilet, shower that doesn’t get warm/hot, algae in the one pool that is open. We due to stay 2 nights, but due to the condition of the hotel we stayed only 1 night. I am currently waiting on a refund for the second night.

The hotel is perfectly located for walking everywhere in Ubud. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The pool setting overlooking the rice field was a highlight. The food was delicious at the restaurant too. We highly recommend Cendana, and would stay again when we visit Ubud.

The room could be fitted with more hooks and places to hang our clothes, and the furniture needs upgrading. Staff were friendly and helpful. More breakfast options would be great but, understand that the hotel would need more staff for that. The doorknob on our bathroom door was faulty and it was rather difficult to open and close the door. I think guests should also be provided with power adapters, as all power outlets are only compatible with Type C European plugs and Schuko Type F plugs. The beds had mosquito nets which was really helpful as mosquitoes abound especially at dusk and nighttime (this should come as no surprise, because there are rice paddy fields within the vicinity). The hotel is walking distance from the city centre. Overall it was a good stay at the hotel, and I enjoyed the staff’s hospitality.

The grounds were outstanding. Breakfast buffet was good with variety. The superior room was nice, good air-con, fridge and TV, big bathroom although a shower drainage problem in room 302. location was great being close to everything you need and property was quiet (my room was down the back away from nearby nightclub / bar with live band every night) I would stay here again.

Oasis tucked in among the bustle of Ubud

This resort was great. The staff were very friendly and the grounds were immaculate. Compared to other resorts in Bali they take a lot of pride in maintaining the gardens and pool area. The rooms were spacious and beds were really comfortable. Wifi was good and no noise from surrounding area despite previous reviews. The staff at the restaurant were great and always welcoming. The bathrooms are in need of an update but still clean. Great value for the cost of a night here. Would definitely recommend and will stay here again!

Next to bar and live music.

The resort was lovely, great facilities and a serene looking garden and pool area. Overlooking some rice growing fields, but also central to and easy walking to tourist attractions, markets and great eating places.

But at bed time this all changed.

Immediately next door is a night club, the sound of music was relentless playing until 3:00am every day.

An oasis of authentic Balinese hotel architecture overlooking rice fields in the middle of Ubud. This resort is perfectly situated between monkey forest and the palace. It is surrounded by great restaurants, shops, and yes, even starbucks.

The negatives were a very disappointing spa experience, despite an alluring on-site spa space near a river. There is also night club noise every evening from about 11pm until early in the morning of the next day.

It was cheap for what you got. Had everything you needed. It had a pool, taxi service from reception, cleaners which could wash your clothes (if needed), food (including room service options), and a bar and restaurant on site. It was right next to the monkey forest and had restaurants and bars surrounding the area.

Nice, simple hotel with a beautiful view

The room was very basic and the bathroom was very large. The beds were very comfy and the bathrooms were clean but a little old. Towels and sheets were very clean, and there were some cobwebs on the walls but that did not bother us. The pool was being cleaned so we could not use it during our stay. The view of the rice terraces is very relaxing and each room comes with a patio area which is nice for relaxing.

Tranquility close to the town centre

Cendana is well located where you have the serenity of paddy fields in front of the room as well as short walks to the Ubud market and other amenities. The staff are all very warm and friendly. Housekeeping staff take pains to keep the place clean even though the standard rooms are dated. They work hard to maintain cleanliness. The gardens are also kept beautiful by diligent staff. The pool at the back is amazing. Next time I come I will choose the deluxe rooms at the back of the property that have a fridge and TV.

Very nice resort in the middle of town. The location is right off of monkey forest road, but once you enter the premises you would never know it. You are situated right next to a rice field, and the grounds are very well kept. Staff is incredibly friendly and helpful. The room itself is very comfortable, although you will need to pull the mosquito netting at night. The only thing that is a bit negative is there is a bar close by that plays music quite loud, but it is usually over by 11:00 or so. Price you pay to be within walking distance of monkey forest, palace, yoga, shops, restaurants, the art market, etc. Really a wonderful spot for the price.

Good hotel with amazing pool view

The Cendana is in a great location in Ubud, right by the Ubud Market, Ubud temple, Monkey forest etc. you can walk to all those places no problem. The pools were amazing and you can't beat looking into the rice fields from the infinity pool! The breakfast was great! The rooms were really unique and very much represented Balinese culture. The room bathrooms were fine however the showers didn't have a shower curtain which was a little funky, but not a big deal to us. We got fresh towels and linens every morning and the staff was very nice and helpful!

Don't stay .

First of all, there are no room ammenities. No fridge, no tv. Bed was almost broken. wifi doesn't work apart from breakfast area. Unlike other hotels in Bali they don't have buffet. But food was good . Staff really really friendly and cooperative . 5 star to staff and 1 star to hotel . You can find cheaper and better hotels around this hotel . Ah and one more thing, instead of giving one double bed they joined 2 beds together and when we sleep they tried to runaway.

We had a good stay at Cendana, average breakfast, room cleanliness was not great but location is good and staff were great. That was until after we left my wife's handbag in our room. The hotel promised when I called them from Denpasar to contact me with details about sending it to us. Since then they have gone silent, not answered any emails or corresponded in any way. Very disapointing.

The grounds are beautiful. Our room (standard) was okay. The bed was comfortable and the AC worked well. Wifi was impossible to get in our room. The bathroom is weird. Large, but lots of wasted space. Water pressure was weak in the shower and tub. Nice pools.

The bathroom was dated but clean. The pool was amazing with beautiful views of the rice fields. Great hotel cats. Very helpful staff, we would stay here again.

Traditional style hotel - prefect Bali experience

This is an oasis in the main street of Ubud. It is old style Bali and not your contemporary modern hotel but that is the beauty of Cendana. The two pools are lovely, the breakfast was delicious. The rooms are typical of when I first came to Bali 20 years ago. No doonas, old fashioned blankets, huge bathroom, really good air con. The ceiling in our room was about 7 metres high, bamboo and quite spectacular. The walls of the rooms were also bamboo. We had a lovely balcony room with twin beds.
The gardens are gorgeous, very Balinese style with lots of flowers and tropical plants.
Don't miss the infinity pool at the back of the hotel, it has statues and rice paddies, really lovely.
If you want to experience a real Balinese style hotel , you can't go passed Cendana.

The Perfect Place in Ubud

The Cendana is a absolutely wonderful place to stay if you are going to Ubud. We felt so welcomed there by the helpful and efficient staff, especially their driver with whom you can arrange day trips to all parts of the island. The Cendana is small and charming, designed in typical Balinese style, with very clean, comfortable rooms, two pools (one an infinity pool overlooking rice fields), excellent Western or local breakfasts included, and a good location. It sits back from a main (and busy) street, but is quiet. The location is close to shopping, restaurants and cultural sites. The gardens that surround the rooms are filled with beautiful tropical plants and are well attended. I also had a wonderful and reasonably priced massage. We heartily recommend the Cendana Resort and Spa -- very, very comfortable, typical experience without being high end and flashy. We loved it!

Great Location but also some Drawbacks

Cendana is kind of what you expect for three stars. Location is very good on Monkey Forest Road. Staff are mixed...if you ask directly for what you need it is provided, but staff are not proactive. If you book a room try to get on the first floor...there is a karaoke bar not far away...some nights louder than others. I was in a second floor room, so I got limited sleep two of the three nights I was there; lower rooms are quiter . Interesting to see offering laid out in hte morning. Pools looked okay but nothing special. You are immediately next to rice paddies, but don't get the idea that these are some terrace fields, scenic to a point, but most of Ubud itself is scenic. reasonable value for the money. I was just more aware of the laid back service because the hotel I had stayed at in Seminyak was so friendly and so proactive.

A very pleasant stay at Cendana Resort & Spa

We are very pleased with the service and our stay at this beautiful hotel. Located very centrally with walking distance to shopping and good restaurants. The Monkey temple is not that far either.

Minor improvement proposals that will be communicated to staff:
1. Add a safe to the room (size enough for laptop)
2. Towel for the bathroom floor is dangerous; when floor is dry. You may slide and fall.
3. Add Wifi to room
4. Toilet in room 327. Needs to be fixed. You need to carefully adjust the flush. Otherwise it will continuesly flush water. Never stop.

Excellent location!

The hotel is very well situated, 5mins walk to monkey forest and ubud market. The infinity pool was absolutely stunning!
We stayed in a standard room and both the bed and pillows were hard as rock. We woke up every morning with a back ache. The bathroom was very big but not convenient at all.. There was absolutely no pressure at all in the shower, i was even having troubles to remove shampoo and haircon because of that!
The room had long black hairs on the floor and one dirty towel in the room when we signed in, but we were too lazy to complain about it because we arrived midnight(i'm sure the staff would have helped if we said something though).
Overall we really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be staying in the future also, but we think about upgraiding to the better room types on our next visit.

Cendana Hotel was OK.

The staff were very friendly, and spoke English pretty well. It was interesting to be located with rice patties around part of it and watching them being plowed for planting soon. However, the location was very close to a bar with a loud band that played very late and prevented anyone from sleeping until after midnight. Police were called and did nothing about it (apparently corrupt police who were bought off by the bar). The hotel provided a good driver for us to tour a day and take us to the airport. We did not like all of the crowds of tourists everywhere, but that is not the hotel's fault.

Not what I expected but fell in love with it.

This hotel is in a great location, lots of shops, restaurants, and bars around. The two pools are great and you are in amongst the rice paddies. It is so quite and relaxing despite being very central. Balcony to sit and eat with the view was so nice, breakfast included was good as well. Staff were great. I did think there were a few drawbacks but wouldn't stop me from staying again. It probably is clear but I didn't realise there wasn't a tv. not a huge deal, just didn't realise it. From the outside the rooms look to be in brick buildings. However, from the inside the room is decorated in bamboo. I almost think the brick is just for appearances. When in the room the walls are so thin we could literally hear the birds outside in the morning, a rooster each day, and even other people on occasion. Once I got used to this I didn't mind it but I wish I had realised it before. The 4 post bed looks great but it is more purpose built as it is a holder of the mosquito netting. Again, wish I had realised it. All in all a great place though and would stay again.

Peace and serenity within an awesome but busy loca

Great location, on Jalan Monkey Forest yet the 2 minute walk in makes it really peaceful and quiet, you wouldn't think you're on the main street. The room was HUGE and clean. Amenities were great, however within the room itself there was a lack of a boiler/thermos and TV, but you could just call them up and they'd bring you hot water. They warned us about being on the second floor as there was loud music coming from a bar nearby but we insisted so that was fine, and it didn't go beyond midnight. Overall it was a very rustic, peaceful place especially considering the location. So good we extended a night.

The rooms weren't the greatest, and the amenities not the best we had in Bali. But the surrounding scenery was beautiful, and stepping outside of the resort puts you in the heart of Seminyak with tons of shops around.

Hotel grounds beautiful, rooms in need of upgrade

We weren't planning on travelling to Ubud but decided to last minute and booked three nights at the Cedena. The location is fantastic and is very central in Ubud. It's also off of the main road and wasn't noisy. The hotel/pool itself was very peaceful and pretty. The staff was nice and helpful. Breakfast was uninspired and the buffet was very small, the food wasn't good. We were in a standard room. The doors don't actually have locks on them, every door needs to be locked with a combination lock. The bathroom was dirty and there was scum in the tub and shower - I think it was just old and in need of an update. Our king sized bed was actually two twins pushed together. As there are many options in Ubud, I probably would not stay here again.
