First of all, the staff is great, but the facility is showing its age. Problems encountered: broken toilet, non-functionig USB ports, AC thermostat only levels were Frozen or Off. Similarly, the mini fridge froze our water, shattering the glass bottle and making a big mess.

The room seems to have no soundproofing. For the balcony rooms, the biggest problem is location. The hotel is situated between multiple mosques so the 0430 prayers blast into the room. This is followed by a couple of hours of rooster crowing competition.

Food prices were good for a hotel, but the taste was lacking. So, be prepared with non-hotel food options.

Room cleaning staff were on top of their game. They scrubbed everything down and tidied up while we were out.

A grand old beauty of a hotel in lush, peaceful setting with a fabulous pool. We didn’t like our room due to a smell of sewage but the staff promptly changed us to a lovely, quiet room with a terrace & great view. Once in our new room everything was fabulous. The staff were especially helpful, kind & happy. I would definitely stay again.

It’s a quite beautiful setting and hotel, but it has a lot of creases to iron out. Very few staff speak any English. I had an issue in that my taxi did not arrive on time and, because the concierge could only understand “taxi” I had to go to the lobby to be understood, but there’s often a line and they seem understaffed. Wi-Fi in the room was useless like 56kbps internet. The lighting switches in the room were oddly arranged and the AC fan is loud. All small things, but the devils in the detail. Also, it’s not within walking distance of anything.

This property is in need of a renovation. It was convenient in the past as it was close to the old airport, but with the new airport now 1 1/2 hours away, there is no real reason to stay here as It’s 30 minutes by taxi to Malioboro. It does however have an amazing pool and good for the family…

Construction going on inside, so noise is an issue. Bathrooms need to be renovated. Location was great when the old airport was nearby, but the new airport is 90 minutes drive away without traffic, so no real reason to stay here aside from the awesome swimming pool which is the highlight of the property, so good for families.

This hotel had a grand(iose) reception area/lobby and facade, but the room needed some work -- it felt old, tired, and was somewhat falling apart. Also, the way that the room's door opened made it very awkward to pass especially when lugging a bag.

Stay with whole family of 14 people. Check in process was easy and recieve all what we requested. Breakfast was grate and tasty. staff was very helpful.
Kids enjoyed the pool. Pool was big and castle type

It is a unique and spacious facility with a very nice pool and relaxing but beautiful atmosphere. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The buffet breakfast was great.

Their promotions posted on the walls were not updated though. And they did not clean one of our rooms. Also, there was a blood stain on one of our sheets.

Otherwise we enjoyed our stay.

way below expectation for a sheraton

booked this hotel because of ratings and previous experience with sheraton hotels. unfortunately this place was way below expectation. booked a mountain view room at higher price which i would not recommend. the room faces the pool area which is quite noisy and the condition of room is questionable. furniture and bathroom showed heavy marks of wear and tear. light switches of bed lamp fell off once touching. one lamp would not shut off at all. AC very noisy. wifi barely working. changed instantly and without big issue to garden view room which is completely renovated. however room climate was quite humid, clothes and shoes have been damped overnight. could be the rainy season effect, but should bot happen in a 4.5 star hotel. gym/spa/restaurants not visited. pool is in a good condition, quite a plus of this hotel, same as the service of the employees. breakfast is a turn down, the quality of the food and the presentation was not what i expect in that price category, would not recommend and will not book again.

Great Staff and also great details , like pack breakfast for early tour and departures , great pick up and transport for free to guest to the airport and to town . But the hotel would need some new work and renovation like the pool and kidsclub . not sure if the pool filter and pump was working . also the pool surrounding need more regular cleaning and sweeping to prevent dirty from getting into the pool .

The hotel and its grounds is beautiful and clean. It does feel a bit old and in need of updating. The staff is very helpful and very friendly. The bedroom is quite spacious and comfortable. Unfortunately, due to its proximity to a mosque, I was awakened every night at 3:45AM by their call to prayer which lasts for at least 30 minutes. I would be careful to choose the location of the hotel next time.

Amazing value hotel near Yogya airport

Very large resort hotel close to Yogyakarta airport. Just what we needed after two days of walking and cycling around temples and villages. The large outdoor pool with swim-up bar was nice but not great for laps. Service was 5* and they run a free airport shuttle service every 30 minutes (takes 5 minutes to reach the airport).

The only negatives were that flannels were not provided, the bed had a very slight musty smell (like the room had not been used for a while) and the aircon was either on or off. The temperature can't be controlled from each room. Everything else was great. Phenomenal for the price.

I & my family have a fantastic experience staying in Sheraton Mutika. The hotel is beautiful nicely decorated, clean & comfortable. The staff are fantastically courteous, very helpful & with top class service. Unfortunately the only negative parts are the hotel sliding wadrobe which we found already old & worn difficult to slide to open & also the swimming pool male toilet which is not so clean and also with lack of liquid soap. Hopefully these 2 areas can be easily upgraded to make it a perfect top class hotel.

We booked a suite which was a fantastic room. The pools are absolutely magnificent. The staff were all fantastic. Breakfast too was absolutely magnificent.
Room service and everything else at the hotel is very very expensive. I bought a small bottle of coke from the drug store / snack / souvenir shop and was asked to pay 30000 rupiah. Anywhere else and you would pay 5000.
We had our 2 boys with us one a 6 month old baby and our 3 year old. We needed an extra bed for our 3 year old and we're charged 400000 rupiah per night. Way too expensive. To be fair we were given a crib for free.
There was no access for a pram from the main lobby to the drop off pick up area. You have to go down a floor via the elevator and walk around. We learnt that on our 3rd day there. A ramp could easily be installed surely. In saying that, the staff were always ready to help us.
Besides the negatives we did enjoy our stay there. I would recommend the hotel to a couple but probably not for a family.

This was, without a doubt, the best hotel I stayed in for some time. Mainly because ALL the staff went out of their way to make me and my parents feel welcome and special. Not only do they know your last name but they know the room number, too. They are delighted you are their guest. I currently live in the UK and I assure you this is not the feeling you get in any hotel.
The grounds are really beautiful. We thought it was an old castle that was converted but this was not the case. The pool is exquisite and clean. The spa is really nice, too. The food is nice for breakfast. We also had lunch twice and it was good.

The hotel is big and old. I like the appearance, although the aircon was freezing, we almost never turn it on (still freezing on setting of 25degrees). My husband noted the damp smell of the rooms and some molds in some areas. Otherwise i was happy. We were given rooms that were so noisy due to some repair work they were doing, which is rather annoying. The staff tried to rectify the issue by moving us to other rooms but it probably took like 2 hours for the other rooms to be ready. Otherwise the staff are fantastic and polite. The hotel is amazing with 2 pools and lots of areas to sit around. Love the toilet and bathtub. They provide shuttles to malioboro and airport too. I am overall pretty happy.

We stayed here for 9 days. The hotel staff were very friendly and accommodating. Having access to the lounge was very helpful to keep the kids occupied when not out. Traffic is big issue so getting anywhere takes time. Was very surprised to find out later on in my stay that you cannot change any foreign money at the hotels. I do not know whether this was limited to this city or all of Indonesia.

Lord... the restaurant or 8th floor was the only place to see the volcano. It was so sad to fly 14 hours to have an aerial view of the garden and not have “room with volcano view” as requested. It’s the rainy season and getting drenched daily without a warm hair dryer, a heating blanket, nor central air with a heat function was great. The ginger tea in the foyer induced indigestion in several guests. It is a lovely hotel for landscaping but the grounds are lacking any overall features. No sky garden or easy access to the lounge when restless nor faster than 40 minutes for requested items. If not for my other half there, I wouldn’t stay there. Need shuttle or taxi as nothing in local area for excursions.

- Shuttle service to the local mall (don't hold high hopes on the mall)
- good quality comfort

What I did not like
- House keeping did not clean the cups. Could still see the obvious coffee and tea stains
- Water pressure in the showers was weak
- Bed was creaking. Could do with a new mattress
- Room was not sound proof. Could hear the family in the next room chatting away. Could be an issue if you are a light sleeper

Relaxing stay and clean room. It was really pleasant to go back to after a day of travelling. Staff was really polite and friendly as well. The view of the volcano from the room is really nice as well. So calming to sit at the balcony in the morning and look at the volcano while having a coffee or snack.

There's a free shuttle to the airport (only about 5 min away) and they were extremely accommodating even though we left for the airport at 5.30-ish am.

Stayed in this hotel in 2003 and 2004 and was excited to come back on my two days trip yo Yogyakarta for a seminar, but despite an excellent price found on Expedia, the hotel wasn't what used to be. Still great but just a 3+ star, not even 4 star hotel now. The breakfast is the worst breakfast I ever had in any hotel in SE Asia, where I travel a lot for busines, I mean Ive been to so many hotels that are 4 and 5 and sometimes 3 stars, but the breakfast is truly disappointing. Rooms are great, hotel is clean, the location is fabulous, the oprice is great, but the hotel should be maintained a bit better. Staff is great, as always, Indonesia is a country of great smiling and accomodating people.

The hotel looks a bit old, however comfortable, it's nice the breakfast foods gave local touch and taste (we are in Yogya). The front lobby surrounding is beautiful, as you are on the highland of the city.

Our booking sheet advised we could only check in between 2.00 pm and 3.00pm. We arrived about 10.30 and had no trouble doing the booking in process, leaving our bags and arranging a driver. We had not expected access to the room as check-out is not until 12.00. When we returned late afternoon we just collected our key and went to our room where our bags were waiting.

We went down to the pool area and ordered some snacks and had a drink at the bar (we were sitting in the pool). The bar appeared to be \"dry\" (no alcohol) except for beer but it was great sitting there in the water.

The room was clean and there was plenty of bottled water. If I was going back to Yogja, I would go stay here again.

Nice hotel near airport and pranbanan

Nice relaxing hotel with a charm that does not feel like a large chain hotel. Get the club room for great breakfast and cocktail hours. Excellent service.

fantastic experience

everything about the stay was great except the dampness in the room. however they did do a bit of aroma therapy to get rid of it. But i would have appreciated if they aired the room well enough before our arrival.

First Impressions Last...

Our first encounter with Sheraton came moments after I sent a request for a free airport shuttle service. The prompt and pleasant email reply gave me the confidence that I had picked the right 'home' for our 3 nights in Yogyakarta. This was followed by a friendly, professional pick up service at the airport upon arrival and followed through right to check in and our stay. However... and there is always one... the let down was the noticeable wear and tear of what must have once been a superb 5-star property, especially so in the guest room. The friendliness and efficiency of the staff and price point made up for the less than pleasing amenities. This 'old lady' is still great value for money if you value service above all else. Oh... the fitness centre is well equipped and decent. Overall I will still give it a thumbs up.
