I can not recommend to stay in Moon Mountain Lodge. At least not at this time of the year. Preparations for the new season where still ongoing and only a few of the tented rooms were ready and the smell of tar paint was all over the place.
Despite they had only 5 guests including us we were given the most far away tented room (ca. 200 meters gravel way from the main building). The breakfast was a catastrophy. The butter was rancid, the milk was sour and the cheese was moldy. The managememt were not really interested in our complains and told us all food were stored in the fridge.
So this was the worst accomodation of all we had since years in Namibia and South Africa!

Location molto bella e ben inserita nell’ambiente circostante. Camere pulite e arredate in modo adeguato con ottima vista sul deserto. Valutazione negativa: Le condizioni climatiche ventose e le basse temperature hanno causato un notevole disagio per le infiltrazioni d’aria nelle tende poco isolate. This is such a unique and wonderful place! We loved our stay at the Moon Mountain Lodge! The staff was so gracious in extending their hospitality to us, and we could not get over the beauty of our surroundings.

The evening dinner service was wonderful, and we were so grateful that the staff arranged to provide us with a great boxed breakfast, as we had to leave very early on both days of our stay.

This is an experience not to be missed!

The staff at Moon Mountain are extremely friendly and helpful. The cabin rooms are amazing as they are elevated which gives an amazing view out to the horizon. The food was great. The restaurant has a drinks deck area which is absolutely incredible. Especially at sunset. Would highly recommend.

Uniquely situated tented lodge at the moon mountain. Great views of the sunset, and the dark, star filled sky. Friendly staff and enjoyable food. Very good service on the tours. We actually went a second time to deadvlei because of sandstorm on the first attempt, no extra charge. Note as this is a tented lodge, it gets noisy if there are strong winds at night. We experienced this, but it's supposedly not common.

Amazing location and views. Staff polite and helpful. Buffet meals well prepared. Rooms basic and it has to be remembered these are part tented cabins built into the side of a mountain. A real Africa experience. Good shower/toilet/bath and very clean.

A great stay at moon mountain lodge

Southern Namibia isn’t an easy place to find hotels, luckily we found moon mountain lodge and it served as an amazing home base for my travels to Sossusvlei and Sesreim. Breakfast and dinner were included with our rate, the staff was welcoming and went out of our way to make my stay comfortable and enjoyable.

This lodge is spectacular with views for miles, the staff is super friendly and accommodating. The rooms are comfortable and offer the same panoramic views to wake up to. It's a bit further from Sesriem but definitely worth the drive as it offers a superior Namib experience to the lodges around the entrance in my opinion. Would definitely stay there again.

It has been the best lodge I have ever seen. It is over a mountain facing an infinite valley. The sunset there is speechless. The staff is very kind and welcoming. The food is great. The room was very spacious and we had also a private patio with a small pool. I recommend this place to anyone who is looking for a place surrounded by the nature.

Due to the Covid the hotel was very empty and we were the only guests staying at the lodge the first night, which gave the stay a bit of an eerie atmosphere. Nevertheless the staff was very friendly and attentive. The rooms were spacious with spectacular views, albeit slightly dated.

We chose this property because we wanted to \"glamp\" and it exceeded our expectations. We views are incredible, facilities are beautiful, food was delicious (breakfast and dinner are included), and the staff were amazingly friendly and personable. The location is about 1 hr from the Namib-Naukluft Park entrance to Sossuvlei & Sesriem which is very convenient. It was the perfect getaway--and a desert oasis--for my husband and I who wanted to get away from busy city life. We highly recommend, you won't be disappointed!

'Over the Moon' at Moon Mountain Lodge

We arrived late afternoon after a dusty drive from Windhoek and couldn't believe our eyes when the lodge appeared built on the side of a mountain. Our room was amazing with a private plunge pool and the most amazing views across the Naukluft Mountain Zebra Park. Hannes, Wilkkah, Dinally and the two Fessys' and all the staff made our six night stay wonderful. When visiting Solssusvlei do not miss the world beating accomodation and service that comes with Moon Mountain Lodge.

Moon Mountain Lodge is a spectacular accommodation that looks every bit as unreal in person as it does in photos. It is a trek to get there, but is simple enough to find (we basically took one road, the c14, from the airport all the way (287 km) there)

Once you arrive, you are within an hour or so's grasp from some of the most jaw dropping scenic routes and destinations in Namibia (Including Sossusvlei, Deadvlei, and various national parks).

The staff was lovely, the food was good, and our lodging (#17) was exactly what we'd hoped for, with wall to wall views of the landscape around us. On our last night we took a sunset drive with a member of the staff to what looked like the Lost World, where we climbed up a hill and drank wine and ate snacks as the sun set on the Namibian bush.

I highly recommend MML for a truly special, and breathtaking place to stay.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Enjoyed our stay very much. It's only 40 minutes drives from the sand dunes of Sossusvlei. The rooms were spacious and clean with amazing views. We had a plunge pool too which was nice. Food was a set menu each night but was tasty and well cooked. We would stay again if in the area.

Beautiful views and unique location

There are not that many places to stay on the way to or near Sossusvlei. This hotel is located about 30-40 minutes from the entrance and has incredible views from it's perch on the side of a mountain. The location and the views are incredible. The staff are lovely and the food is very good. The rooms are a step up from platform tents though there's a private bathroom for each and the room was large. There are a lot of bugs and it's worse at night if you leave lights on. Some people will not be bothered by this. It was fine for 2 nights but for the price I was expecting something a bit more upscale. Go for the views and the experience. The sunset was among the best ever.

Moon Mountain Lodge was excellent! It is rural, however it is the perfect pitstop between Windhoek & Sossuvlei. The lodges are immaculate, well kept and very spacious. Each has a viewing deck and moon pool, making it the perfect place to watch the African sunrise/ sunset. I could not recommend this place enough!

The lodge has great views and sunsets. Staff are friendly, and very helpful.
Due to the remote location internet connection is a challenge, and wifi did not work during our stay, but management is looking for a solution. The lodge is also looking at renovating, and the appointed interior designer was actually there during our stay. Breakfast and Dinner is good, and we can't complain. The splash pools are the highlight of the units. They are not heated, but once you jump in it's great to cool down in the hot Namibian sun with a drink in hand.

I just wanted to mention how great we were treated by the staff. Reagan in particular was phenomenal. He gave us great advice on how to best see dead vlay and the sand dunes, he made sure we had breakfast packed for us (even though we forgot to mention we'd need them) and then on top of it had great stories about Namibia to tell. I would recommend and return to Moon Mountain Lodge any chance I get

Disappointing.

Wonderful views, but there is no wifi - hasn't been for months - and staff are not very informative. Ran out of Appletiser, rum... things one would consider basic at any lodge. Reagan was an exception and very helpful. Found litter in the veld during one of our walks, and generally the focus is not on the environment. No bath, which didn't bother us but it was in the room description. Very hot and no fans. Avoid room #8 which, although convenient to the common areas, is noisy with annoying lights from the kitchen.

My only issue was that there were a ton of bugs, but that isn't the hotels fault considering they are in the middle of nowhere vulnerable to the elements. I think it is part of the fun too. Amazing views and wonderful management and staff!

After the long, dusty drive there, I was welcomed with a glass of juice and a friendly smile. They offered me a free bottle of wine because I made it up the driveway in 2wd. Best, friendliest management I've ever experienced. Completely attentive without being intrusive. Just amazing. Staff is amazing too! Beautiful location and a great experience in every way. Go to Moon Mountain Lodge if you can! The night sky is amazing too!

This is a lovely property in a stunning location... Really beautiful vistas from all rooms and the restaurant/ bar. We booked the executive suite which was well worth the additional. The service, advice and assistance offered here from the staff at the lodge, particularly manager George was excellent and invaluable. We booked their offered excursion into Sossusvlei which was excellent and good value. The lodge is an hour away from sossusvlei - there are closer lodge options but Moon Mountain is lovely. Wished we had booked more nights at this stunning location.

Comfortable Outdoorsy

This lodge is located on CR 19 about an hour from the entrance to the park where the dunes are. If you are driving from Windhoek, it was about a 350km drive mostly on gravel roads with nothing in sight for long distances. I would highly recommend making sure you are doing the drive during daylight hours - we did not - and even arriving at the lodge was pretty scary in the complete darkness! For the trip in general - we made sure to have 4wd, but a 4x4 would be even better. The lodge itself, is very comfortable, and we were very happy with our stay. They made dinner for us upon our late arrival, and the rooms were comfortable. Each room is its own separate cabin with the windows opening and closing with zippers - like in a tent - but like in a regular hotel - there are regular beds and couches in the rooms and fully functional bathrooms. The is a little bit of a walk from the main part of the lodge to each of the separate rooms, but there are pathways that lead from one to the other - they will provide flashlights! For an additional cost - the hotel has a sunset drive, which we opted out of as the sunset was beautiful from the lodge itself. In general, after dinner, you are back in your room for the night.

One problem was that when we arrived we were not expected. No welcome drink and the room was not ready. I do not think that they receive many bookings from hotels.com. But the stay was lovely and food made up for the misunderstanding.

Breathe Taking location and 4 star lodge. Only concern was that was told that a bottle of wine was 80 Namibian $ to be charged 180. Once we questioned this was told it was on the house. We do not want handouts but be charged fairly; paid the 80. Staff must rather give Wine List and price to guest to reduce confusion and embarrassment.

Unique and Amazing Getaway complete with Wifi!

We arrived at the lodge just before sunset. When we pulled up there was no other cars in the lot, however we were immediately greeted and shown to the reception area. Turned out we had the place to ourselves for the night even though the rest of the month was booked solid. The sunset off the reception deck was amazing overlooking the desert landscape. We were given an upgrade to the suite which had its own soaking tub. The room was luxury in the middle of nowhere. Dinner was included and accommodated our food allerigies. We had so much yummy and delicious food that we stuffed ourselves. Best chocolate gluten free mousse i have ever had! We were up early the next morning to get to the Sossuvlei desert. A breakfast bag had been packed for us and there was someone up to serve us coffee and answer any last minute questions we had. Our stay was short but fantastic! In retrospect we should have stayed longer :) We will definitely return to this hotel.

Hôtel à fuir si vous n’arrivez pas à gérer la chaleur du désert. La climatisation n’est pas une vraie Clim, elle ne fait que souffler de l’air chaud. Il n’y a pas d’eau froide pour se rafraîchir sous la douche. Le soir il est impossible de dormir avec la tente qui claque à cause du vent. L’hôtel est tout sauf luxueux comme vendu. Je me suis blessée à l’orteil ils n’avaient même pas d’alcool ou d’antiseptique. Ce qui est très dangereux. Le service etait super mais l’infrastructure est à revoir entièrement. Vétuste et pas capable d’accueillir les clients dans des conditions correctes pour le prix il y a bien mieux.

Die Moon Mountain Lodge hat eine einmalige Lage, mitten in der Wüste am Berg gelegen, mit einem kleinen Pool vor jedem Zimmer, wirklich außergewöhnlich. Toll, um den Sternenhimmel und Sonnenauf/untergang zu sehen!! Personal extrem freundlich und bemüht. Essen sehr gut. Das einzige, was man wissen muss: es handelt sich um Zelte, die nicht klimatisiert sind und auch keinen Ventilator an der Decke haben. So war es zu unserer Zeit, wenn man kaputt von den Dünen kam, bei 38 Grad draussen, extrem warm im Zimmer und etwas schwer zu erholen. Ansonsten können wir die Lodge nur empfehlen!!

Un petit cocon dans un cadre exceptionnel !

Ce lodge perché sur le haut d’une colline est sublime, la vue depuis chaque chambre est absolument magnifique et très relaxante. Nous avons également apprécié le personnel qui était très sympathique ainsi que le repas du soir et le petit déjeuner, le choix était copieux et excellent. L’apéritif organisé sur la terrasse du restaurant pour le coucher du soleil est un merveilleux souvenir. La chambre était elle aussi très spacieuse et jolie, avec une vue complète sur le lever du soleil et les animaux sauvages. La piscine était le seul petit bémol; l’état de l’eau ne donnait pas envie de s’y plonger, mais nous avons fréquemment rencontré ce soucis dans les lodges en Namibie. En bref, nous recommandons avec grand plaisir !

Una birra fresca e una vista spettacolare sono stati il punto forte. Ottima la cena con una lasagna e un dolce al cioccolato chiamato malva pudding, davvero inaspettati.
Camera e bagno migliorabile, d'altronde sono una serie di palafitte sulle quali sono installate delle tende.

Attention : punaises de lit !

Nous avons séjourné dans la suite. Les draps étaient tachés. Le matin, nous nous sommes réveillés avec des piqûres de punaises de lit.
La tente est moyenne, un peu vétuste. La piscine ne tient pas sa promesse. Elle était sale, impossible d’y mettre un pied.
Service : expérience mitigée. Certains employés étaient sympas, d’autres beaucoup moins.
Les repas ne sont pas fameux, mais ça fait l’affaire. Le petit dej est correct.

Lodge largement surcoté. Je déconseille

It was located in quite, great view area and I could see incredible beautiful sun set scene from my room bed with coffee!!
It was one of the greatest sun set scene in my experience.
We can enjoy breakfast in great view with sun rise from terrace. Strongly recommended.
Staffs are kind and friendly.

Excellent séjour, merci pour tout :)

Nous avons passé 4 nuits au Moon Mountain et c'est pour nous de loin le meilleur établissement que nous avons fréquenté durant notre séjour en Namibie. Le personnel est accueillant, à l'écoute et aux petits soins,
Notre lodge était bien équipé avec une vue imprenable lors du coucher du soleil.
Le petit-déjeuner et le dîner étaient délicieux.
Un sans faute... le plus c'est que l'établissement n'est pas très loin de Sesriem et Solitaire

Everything was perfect, especially the location and the outstanding service (I forgot my Ipad, they found it in my room and sent it to my home address in Holland).

Moon mountain lodge is really a jewel in the desert!!

Highly recommended lodge!

Very nice lodge with a view on the savanna.
Excellent service by the staff and good food quality.
Comfortable room

We had the very nice surprise to have a hot water bottle in our bed to warm it as the outside temperature was low during our stay.

Great Great Place

Great place! That’s all I can say. If you are in the area you cannot miss it. I will definitely be back once in the area again. Just be there, relax and meditate. Happiness is not that difficult .

Unbezahlbarer Ausblick

Das Hotel ist einzigartig. Die Zelte sind wunderschön. Der Ausblick ist unbezahlbar. Vom Bett, von der Toilette und der Badewanne hat man eine unvergesslichen Ausblick. Wir hatten einen Pool. Man konnte direkt von dort aus den Sonnenuntergang beobachten.

Une vue à couper le souffle

Très bel endroit avec un lodge très original accroché à la montagne. Chambre vaste avec une immense salle de bain accessible par un petit passage extérieur. Les repas sont moyens mais nous n’étions que 2 couples de clients. On aurait apprécié un accueil plus chaleureux et que l’on nous propose de nous aider pour porter nos bagages car l’accès est compliqué.

Fantastic place with huge rooms and an amazing view over the Namib desert, both from the restaurant and the room. Great diner and great breakfast. Definitely recommended!

le décors est fabuleux . Implantation des tentes de luxe sur pilotis est sécurisant . Profiter du vent qui envahit la tente la nuit a été une super expérience surtout lorsque les journées ont été chaudes .
