Lovely break… but

I think you have to be mindful that 4-5 star hotel classifications really aren’t the same globally. While the hotel was mostly clean, a great variety of food and drinks… I didn’t feel like I was in a 5* environment. A few things to note…

The evening entertainment starts quite late. Kids party starts 8:30 so most of them are too sleepy to enjoy.

There’s not much for kids to do as in day time activities. Yes there’s a small park, local beach and kids club but it really paled in comparison to what I’ve experienced in other European destinations.

The kids called me within an hour to collect them from the kids club. The sign in and out process is non existent. I just walked straight in and took the kids and the staff paid no attention.

The park is really something for babies.

The most exciting part for my kids who were a 6 year old girl and 7 year old boy was the heated indoor pool. They were too cold in the outside one ( we went during Easter break).

Entertainment is not great for adults. We were pretty bored in the evening and spent time in the shisha Lounge which was lovely.

The Italian restaurant lol. Just avoid it people most people reserve and end up leaving and going back to the buffet.

I loved the food. Ignore people who complain. I’m of Afro Caribbean descent and once you add the salts and pepper everything tasks very nice. So much choice too.

This hotel deserves all 5 stars hands down. With exceptional service from all staff, delicious food and beautiful decor!

The maids were brilliant and made us smile always saying hello they even went the extra mile and did quirky decorations on the bed with dressing gowns and flowers.

The bar staff were so attentive and friendly even if we did not move a muscle from our lounger.

The entertainment team always pleasant and made conversation not to mention their flamboyant dancing skills much to our amazement , absolutely brilliant 😃

All I ask is that the entertainment team deserve attire that matches their talent…

We were made to feel special, we loved our stay ❤️

Average all round - staff were pleasant but aim is really to make more money and get you to do the excursions aside from staff in restaurant who were really nice. Pool/beach area is pretty (you have to pay extra for towel) but I would say all around that the hotel is quite dated and tired, food is fine (buffet/canteen style) but nothing to write home about. Massage wasn’t my cup of tea at all, all in all average all round. That being said Tunisia is a fab place to visit and mahdia Médina is very pretty - I’d recommend staying nearer there if mahdia is on your travel itinerary.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Iberostar Hotel in Mahdia, and it exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I arrived, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly and professional staff, who made me feel at home.

The rooms are spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated, offering a perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the view from my room was breathtaking – waking up to the sight of the sparkling sea was an unforgettable experience.

The hotel’s amenities are top-notch. The pool area is stunning, with plenty of sunbeds and a lively atmosphere, perfect for relaxation. The beach, just a few steps away, is pristine and offers a serene setting to unwind. The all-inclusive dining was a highlight – a wide variety of delicious dishes, catering to all tastes, with fresh local ingredients and an international flair.

What truly stood out to me was the level of service. The staff went above and beyond to ensure every aspect of my stay was perfect. Whether it was recommendations for activities, special requests at meals, or just a friendly chat, they made me feel valued and cared for throughout my stay.

I highly recommend the Iberostar Hotel in Mahdia to anyone looking for a luxurious and relaxing getaway. I will definitely be returning for another stay!

The quality of the foods and services were not consistent with 5 star facility, serving margarine, while labeling it as butter, or all fruit juices made from powder (artificial ingredients) instead of real fruit, like other 5 star hotels. Not much accommodation for healthy eating or special dietary needs.

It was way too crowded. The hotel grounds are too small for the number of guests, so in the pool and beach areas people were practically on top of each other.

The hotel is very clean, and the staff are friendly and helpful. There are plenty of dining options to suit all tastes. The hotel also offers nightly shows and features three large pools. If you visit, be sure to look for the heart-shaped trimmed trees. I loved my stay and will definitely return next year.

Not a \"Very Good\" hotel anymore

Service degraded drastically.
This is my second time in this hotel.
From the first visit to the second, a huge difference. And the difference touches the check-in time till the check-out. Here is why :
- As a Hotels.com Gold member, I have the right for early check-in if there is availability and guaranteed late check-out. I got neither the first nor the second perk.
- The welcome in the reception is cold and not appropriate for a 5 stars hotel.
- We did not find a spot for our car in the parking lot.
- There are missing amenities in the room like shower gel and water boiler machine.
- Restaurant food quality degraded. We were 8 in the hotel. 3 of us including me had diarrhea.
- Restaurant servers are not attentive to clients requests. They do not smile and some of them are even rude. I asked their chief for a water boiler machine, he promised to send one to my room. Got nothing.

Compared to Iberostar Kuriat Palace in Sousse where we got Gold member perks in check-in and check-out time and where we got a very warm welcome, the Iberostar Royal Elmansour is not a \"Very Good\" hotel anymore. I dont recommend for people who are attentive to details. I'll definetly go back to Sousse but I'll think twice before returning to Royal El Mansour Hotel.

Special thanks, though, to Fares, the lifeguard guy, who is one of the best employees in the hotel. Always available and very hardworking.

this is less than 2 stars hotel. Most of the staff at the hotel are rude, especially the so-called \"security staff\" at the entrance.
The buffet was poor all the time with much less varieties and terrible taste. It looks like a cantine at a factory.
It was really a waste of money and we will never ever return back to this hotel. Please AVOID it.

My worst stay

My worst stay in 5 stars hotel 😭😭😭
The hotel was fully booked with less staff than usually (knowing that government rules the hotel should be 40% max capacity)

1st we wait for 2h to make the check-in , arrived 03:28 pm
I got the room at 5.05 pm
2nd more than 1 hour in my room waiting my luggage so i came back to lobby and i bring it by my self to the 4th room.
There was 2 lift in my side ( unpair side) we should wait from 10 to 20min the lift bcz only 1 was working and the capacity is max 4 peoples
3rd no tables available in restaurant so we have to wait every time and same for food .
When you ask for drink you have to remind the waiter at least 3 or 4 times bcz they are very busy by cleaning tables
Finally if you arrive to beach or pool after 8am you will never find a place or deck chair.
The personal in lobby was not polite they don't respect .
This hotel is over rated
I will never be back !

L'hôtel est situé en ville ce qui permet de visiter facilement la belle Médina de Mahdia. L'hôtel affiche cinq étoiles mais par les standards internationaux c'est un quatre étoiles. L'hôtel dispose de trois piscines et d'une belle plage. Payez un peu plus cher et réservez une chambre avec vue mer, de préférence dans les étages supérieurs. Le service est excellent et le personnel aux petits soins. Les chambres sont spacieuses et la literie assez confortable. Restauration bien variée.

On the Friday night, I arrived after 5 hours of journey, the reception manager was quite unpleasant, he demanded our passports, which I handed over, he was talking to someone on the phone, he handed it back to me. As I stood there, he shouted at me, “I need your passport.”. I said I have provided them to you, you handed it back, he continued to talk on the phone, a bit ill mannered. Maybe he was overworked on that Friday, but it is 5 stars hotel afterall, customer services!

The hotel scans your luggage for bottles of wine and water with an airport scanner and doesn't allow you to bring any inside. The front desk staff acta like it just got out of KGB training.

The people who run that resort are exceptional. Due to a delayed flight we arrived late and the reception desk executive quickly made sure everything was fine with our check in and escorted us to the dining room so we could enjoy a wonderful relaxed dinner all the while he completed are check in. There are many beautiful resorts but is the people who run them that truly make the difference. Looking forward to returning.

Missing something!

I stayed in this hotel 15 nights. Along with my elite travel status for years, I guess I can provide this hotel the secret to success: select the right employees and train them well to represent friendlier culture and professional service. The quality service is to exceed the clients expectations. Without intensive training and operational manual the great property you have will not compete alone. Treating all-inclusive European groups is great but not treating all clients equally is a shame.

We loved our stay here. The hotel is amazing and clean. It is the best in the city by far. Great location. Food is good.

Most staff are friendly with groups from Germany and England while we really see their smiles!!

There is one of the management staff who spends too much of his time watching over his restaurant team. He looks angry all the time. Such attitude would negatively reflects on the performance. He made me feel uncomfortable. I think he is taking his job too seriously. The management needs to treat its staff with smile so that can be reflected on the clients. The best staff are the luggage boys. They are very friendly and kind.

Overall the hotel was good, well organized, well managed. But I have been around the world. Almost all of the workers wanted a tip for doing their job...no I am not cheap. Have you been in that situation? From the maid, to most of the staff, waiting for something...The people who were not on the hunt, got it. The server in the restaurant who worked hard, was cordial over $100USD, the pool waiter about $50, the bar waiter about $75...The maid got $0, the seaters in the restaurant got $0. They made us feel uncomfortable. We had an issue with one of the waiters in the restaurant. It was brought to the food and bar managers attention. He went way above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and let us know how sorry the company was.

The hotel itself was great; the beach and swimming pool very nice. Everything was very clean. However, the food was not that great, especially on certain days; certainly not the 5-star standard one would expect in a European or North American hotel. However, for a Tunisian all-inclusive hotel, this was very good.

just a short stay, the hotel is ok, it is the usual newer tunisian type of hotel, with a huge soless reception, no sole, the food althogh edible was not 4/5 star, in fact on one day it was so poor we had to complain to the management, not what you would expect. the room was of a good standard,
I don't usually post on these boards but I feel that this hotel could be so much better if the food was better and the staff were more welcoming, I have been travelling in tunisia for many years, and I feel that the older hotels tend to try harder to please.

We stayed for a week commencing 24th April in a sea view suite, the second time this year.

We stayed in the suite to help accommodate 2 adults & 2 children.

The hotel's main attraction is good food, service and room size and cleanliness. The food is buffet style, but excellent salads and a decent variety of meals (some freshly cooked as you wait) mean that you can eat different food every night.

The bar staff are attentive and quick to bring drinks, good beer and choice of cocktails etc.

The room we stayed in has 2 balconies a huge bed in a big bedroom, next to a lounge area with fold out bed. All kept clean with modern furniture and equipment.

Beyond that, It's right on a sandy beach, which does look as if it is cleaned regularly. There is a spa area (excellent massages) and a heated (in off season) indoor pool. The outdoor pool is in 3 big sections. Sunbeds in April easy to come by, but i can imagine there being more of an issue in July/August.

Only small criticisms

Outdoor pool - One of Tunisia's main natural resources (the sun) and the solar power generated couldn't be used to heat the outdoor pool, which was really cold (18 degrees on most days) which means for young children you have to use the indoor pool.

Childrens club - 2nd time we have been and not much this time round in the way of keeping them occupied - either closed or when open, the lady running it really wasn't that interested in getting children up and active (unlike the other animation team members who tried really hard to get adults active!

The site sits right next to another old unused holiday camp - which looks a bit of an eyesore and spoils the view a bit.

Overall an excellent hotel, the best we've stayed at in Tunisia after going on and off for the past 10 years.

Good but a few small points

Overall very good value.
Rooms are top quality, but definitely worth paying for the sea view as the other side is a busy street.
Food is so-so, often a bit dull and tasteless due to the high proportion of older German customers who don't eat spicy food.
It's dull in the evenings so anyone looking for nightlife would have to get a taxi into town, not sure what that's like as we didn't(baby in tow).
The barstaff don't have a clue how to make cocktails so don't bother drinking them. However the man who does the smoking room does know!
No professional babysitting service available.
Outdoor pools are lovely but very cold, the sea was warmer for swimming. Indoor pool warm and pleasant for slothing around.
Beach is cleaned by the hotel and is good, but the town could do with organising a beach cleaning operation as you will see if you walk in either direction.
The spa thingy is good if you like that sort of thing(like my wife) I can rub seaweed on myself at the beach for free so it doesn't interest me.

Well beyond our ezpectation. (my new Dell laptop refuses to print an \"ecs\".

Ezcellent rooms and very varied meals made this a holiday beyond our ezpectations. We visited during winter and cannot therefore comment on the pools..

One small criticism - the otherwise ezcellent room TV did not offer a single English language channel we can cope with German, French, Spanish and even some Arabic bit a bit of UK TV would have been very nice. Odd!

Watch the prices of the bar drinks - they struck us as being relatively high. .

Beautiful hotel with good service, but don't expect anything to work and food is awful

A beautiful newly built hotel. Clean, well decorated and furnished. Nice views of beach/sea. Very good value rooms. But aircon/heating did not work at all in my room. Plumbing does not drain properly. Indoor pool has no lights, no heating, no changing rooms or toilets. There is an open shower but it involves a public shower and walking back through the hotel lobby in a towel to your room to get dressed. We had half board. Breakfast was good, but dinner on all of the 3 nights was awful. Food often inedible - appalling quality meats, and highly spiced. Would be better not to eat here at all. This is a package holiday destination for German tourists - signs in German, staff spoke german not french or other languages. Overall, this hotel is beautiful to look at, but don't expect things to work and try to avoid eating here. Good value overall since it was so cheap off season.

Mi aspettavo più confort, tipo delle ciabatte monouso, cuffie doccia dentrificio , insomma quei piccoli gadget che fanno piacere trovare al tuo arrivo. Complessivamente comunque bene.

C’est un hôtel cinq étoiles qui devait être superbe il y a 25 ans mais est assez vieillissant aujourd’hui. Cela dit il est Malgré tout correct. La nourriture est pas mal mais n’est pas trop renouvelée. Le personnel est très gentil mais nous voit comme des Américains. Sinon j’ai été très déçu du fait qu’ils disent qu’il y a une discothèque alors qu’elle est fermé j’avais choisi cet endroit pour Mon Fils car je pensais qu’il y avait des jeunes vu qu’il y avait une discothèque et ce n’était pas le cas et il s’est embêté toutes les Soiree, car il n’y avait vraiment pas de bonnes animations. Les soirées étaient vraiment très limites , il y a eu une soirée tunisienne. Franchement c’était très bas de gamme. J ai eta très déçu de ça j’ai demandé un fer à repasser, j’en ai toujours trouvé dans les cinq étoiles là, pas un seul dans tout l’hôtel, pareil j’ai demandé du faux Sucre on n’en trouve toujours dans les cinq étoiles pour les diabétiques, il n’y en avait pas non plus. Qui n’a pas de sacarine aujourd’hui dans un hôtel de cette taille En ce qui me concerne je trouve que ça ne vaut pas du tout les 5 etoiles même si c’est correct on paye très cher la semaine alors que c’est la Tunisie car la Tunisie n’est pas aussi cher que beaucoup de pays en Europe. J’ai fait l’an dernier un hôtel à Rhodes à cinq étoiles, j’ai payé moins cher et l’hôtel et les prestations étaient vraiment à la hauteur d’un cinq étoiles.

J'ai beaucoup aimé les piscines, le jardin. Les buffets sont très bons. Le personnel à la réception n'est pas toujours très agréable et ne donne pas assez d'information. Les chambres sont correctes mais un peu vieillottes.

Incredible. Came late at night, they brought food to my room even tho I missed dinner.
The restaurants are amazing, best ingredients quality I tried in Tunisia, many traditional dishes such as mloukhiya and Tunisian fish pasta.
Bravo to the security team as well.

I will surely come back again in the future.
