Clean and beautiful hotel

Hotel is clean with beautiful landscape. Reception staff was patience despite the language barrier. They managed to help our friends change to a non smoking floor as the floor they were originally assigned smell of smoke from guests smoking from ground floor. The buffet dinner was great, with free flow of beer, soju and wine. Desserts was excellent. Onsen was great too though the bath house looks a bit run down. But it was clean. Lots of parking space for those who drive. The only downside is that it is hard to find restaurants in the neighbourhood.

3 star hotel...tried but true...nothing too fancy, but more than good enough. Fantastic view. Located on a golf course. Cheaper than kurokawa. Onsen is pretty good.

Relaxing hot-spring time

It was not located in the centre of Aso. It would be better to drive and stay in this hotel.
The check-in procedure was clear and quick. We chose the room with two beds, which was very clean and comfortable.
It also had the hot spring, which opened in the morning and evening. I had a relaxing time while enjoying the hot spring.
If you don't mind driving to this hotel, it would be a great choice for those to travel to Aso.

This is a golf resort, a good location to have peace and quiet. Hotel is quite old and no one assisted to show us to the room. Room that is crater-facing has very nice scenic view. No nearby shops, hotel is only accessible by car.

The hotel is quite far from City but it is okay for driving. The hotel and rooms are big. Yet, its facilities are aged. It provides hot spring but we have not utilized it. In addition, it seems full of tour groups. On the other hand, I have made a reservation for 2 single bed room by Expedia mobile app. Unlike Expedia website, the default booking is for 1 adult only. The hotel would like to charge me an additional fee even it is a 2 single bed booking already. It is quite strange to me.

Hotel located inside a golf course - very scenic

The hotel was set up long time ago, so the internal fixtures and fittings look old but not shabby. The design and decorations are typical Japanese western style. We booked for the dinner buffet @ 4000 yen per person at the hotel restaurant upon check-in as the hotel is situated in quite remote location, no other choice around. A good decision to make as the dinner buffet was good with a wide range of food to select including Chinese, Japanese and Korean cooking and with unlimited supply of long legged crab and delicious beef steak. The breakfast buffet was included in our room booking. The food quality and presentation was acceptable. All in all, a good experience to stay in this hotel.

A Large Golf Onsen Hotel

The reception does not provide an extra electronic room key which is strange when we had 3 people in a room. Since my wife and I spent the time at the onsen differently, thus I need to wait for her at the onsen. The room is very small and we have the view of the forest which wasn't great.

great first impression but it didn't last long

The entrance driving into the actual hotel was quite impressive. Very manicured. You feel like you're about to drive into a mansion. However I found the rooms were not nearly as impressive as the rest. It wasn't bad but it wasn't special. The balcony was a bit dirty in fact. We did laundry with the machine but one cycle wasn't strong enough to actually dry your clothes. The onset was decent, you do have to walk outside for a slight second to get there so be aware if you're visiting during colder months or late at night. They provided lots of different types of moisturizers if you're into that kind of thing. HOWEVER, if you're vegan, just remember the shampoo/body wash they use are all with horse oil. Yes, horse. Be aware if that is not your thing. If you like to golf, this is your place. The course is quite stunning with a view of the mountains. You get a 180 view of it in the dining room. There were a lot of varieties in terms of breakfast. But I think I personally got sick from it because everything was out in the open without covers.

we booked 3 rooms and one of the rooms smell bad. Initially the staff was not willing to exchange the room for us but finally he agreed to give us a new room. Unfortunately the exchanged rooom also smelled bad. The hotel is a bit old but the hotspring is okay.

Overall a nice experience. My husband and I stayed 3 days in February to experience Mt. Aso. Hotel staff were friendly and accommodating. We do not speak Japanese and the staff made every effort to communicate with us. The room was comfortable. The breakfast and dinner buffets offered a tremendous variety of food. The location is a bit isolated, so we decided to eat at the hotel. It has a Nicholas golf course. The onsen was very nice. Our first experience with an onsen. The property is a bit dated, but you can't beat the view. Would definitely recommend.

Amazing scenes of the surrounding areas and mountains of Aso especially in the mornings during sun rise. The rooms are large and the hot springs and sauna are wonderful for relaxation in the evening. As the resort is in the Golf course the surrounding areas are quiet and inconvenient if you don't have a car.

Hotels.com is lazy/Aso Granvrio Needs a Facelift

First, I want to express my displeasure with Hotels.com. When I booked my room for one person, they booked and charged me for two people. The hotel notified me of this issue and told me to contact Hotels.com as I was charged through the website. When I contacted Hotels.com they said they could not do anything and blamed it on the hotel. I blame Hotels.com for being lazy by pointing the finger elsewhere. I will not use Hotels.com again.

The Aso Resort Granvrio Hotel needs a major renovation as the entire facility has not been upgraded since the 1970s. It is a shame because it is in a beautiful location, with a great golf course and onsen spa. The hotel bar and restaurant was closed, so they served a buffet style dinner in one of the large ballrooms to all guests for a fixed fee.

The staff at the hotel could not be more courteous and helpful.

The natural hot spring onsen was terrific, and the golf course looked fabulous.

Would be great for a relaxing golf trip!

We have so much trouble getting to the hotel. We did not know that the road to Aso was blocked due to the recent earthquake and that the buses do not go to the Aso station later in the afternoon from Kumamoto. The lady that spoke English at the hotel failed to notify this to us when we called a few hours earlier to ask about the travel here. We called back, panicked to find that the buses have stopped. They were quite unsympathetic/ unapologetic and told us to spend about Y15000 to take a cab there. Fortunately, we met the kindest kindest Japanese man who patiently communicated with us on his phone using a translator app. He found a way to a small station, to transfer on to a train, and then cab rest of the way. (THANK YOU). When we finally got to the hotel, the receptionist Japanese guy who could speak Korean really well kindly apologized to us and took good care of us.
The room we checked into was a non-smoke room but it reeked of smoke smell so the Korean speaking guy placed us in a different, nicer room.
The hotel has a nice onsen and a lovely golf course. It would be a good place to go and relax and do a golfing trip.

It was not a pretty hotel, the building itself was quite ugly but the room was fine, the onsen was great and parking was free with plenty of spots! It was so nice to dip into the onsen after a full day hike!! The breakfast was not so great tho.

Room & facilities are old. Mostly booked in by people on package tours. Golf course looks great but I don't play golf. The loction is remote and don't stay in this hotel unless you have a car. Food in the restaurant are poor and expensive as compared on what they provided.

The dinning services was very good and the dishes were fine. The view from the room to the golf field is excellent. The breakfast is very rich. The hotel design and facilities are not very fashion and seems a bit old, especially the shower head is not tune-able, which make the water comesout \"not concentrate\" enough. These points make me feel that the hotel does not worth this cost.

Hotel with wonderful view in autumn

Stayed in the hotel for 2 nights in order to tour the Aso region. Hotel is in a lovely location next to a golf course with very beautiful view. At this time, the colour of the leaves of many trees in the golf course was changing to yellow, orange and red. A walk in the golf course at dawn and dusk is a must if you are interested in photography. Apart from the view, the conditions and the service of the hotel is of very high standard. The only negative point I found is the lack of variety of food in the restaurant.

飲み食べ放題でリーズナブルで食事が美味しい。飲み物の種類もたくさんあり充実していました。蟹も食べ放題で食べ過ぎました。朝食もスムージーやサンドイッチも種類が豊富で二食とも食べ過ぎてしまい、ゴルフの昼食が入りませんでした。是非又利用したいです。お風呂が熱かったので長く入れなかったのが残念でしたが全体的には良かったです。
