The breakfast was alright but would have hoped for more. The pool was nice and clean, but unfortunately in the shade for the majority of the day. The room had a balcony which was only accessible by clambering up onto a windowsill and outside - shame as it was a nice place to sit and enjoy the sun!

Nice pool, location could be better.

Nice room and good staff. Loved the pool, but it was a bit far from the centre and the windows and doors opened oddly (so they'd get in the way). Also, we turned the AC off and left the window open, but the cleaner would close the window and turn the AC back on each day - very annoying and terrible for the environment.

Hotel San Marco has a good location, clean rooms, and helpful staff, which I appreciated. However, the experience fell short of 4-star expectations.
The breakfast was quite basic and, frankly, disappointing. The bread was overly salty, and the hardboiled eggs were fridge-cold and overcooked. Oddly, the hot breakfast options included vegetables like cauliflower and Brussels sprouts—an unusual and not particularly appealing choice for the morning. The kettles provided for tea were painfully slow, and there was no kettle or iron in the room, which I would expect as standard in a hotel of this category.
Also, there is no restaurant at all, so you have to go out to eat—even in pouring rain—or you’ll starve.

The room setup also had some issues. A lamp on the desk partially blocked the TV screen, and the bathroom mirror was installed so low that you practically had to kneel to see your face. The shower was cramped with a massive shower panel, the rainfall showerhead didn’t work, and the raised platform it sat on posed a tripping hazard.

The balcony could have been a nice touch, but there was no furniture provided. You had to carry chairs and a table from the room if you wanted to enjoy it—hardly convenient. Lastly, the bed was very firm, to the point of being uncomfortable.

Overall, some good points, but quite a few flaws that need addressing.

We had a lovely stay at Hotel San Marco Fitness Pool and Spa. The hotel staff were very pleasant, willing and happy to help. The hotel was clean. Bathrooms were very modern. Rooms were clean and adequate. The spa was not open during summer which we were aware of but during summer months the pool was open outside with sun loungers which was nice. The pool was clean. Good range of food at breakfast. There was a bus station about a 30 Devine walk from hotel where you could get the bus into Verona centre which was very convenient. Overall this is a very nice hotel stay.

Very nice and wekll maintained hotel. Probably best for meetings and small groups, and guests who want a quiet place and pool. The bedding is very uncomfortable for a 4 star hotel - very hard beds and rough sheets. It is a long walk into the old city so bring your walking shoes.

Everyone was friendly and welcoming. Breakfast was good and plentiful. (I want their coffee machine.) Property may have seen better days. Room was clean, but inviting jetted tub was at issue. Hard to get in and out, grouting was shot, shower had little water pressure. Everything we wanted to do was a 20-30 minute walk.

A/C worked fine, the room was spacious (with big safety deposit box), breakfast was OK.
The location of the hotel is not good if you plan to use public transportation frequently.
Storage (luggage) room is a ruin (old room with spiders and their webs, lots of old unnecessary stuff plus cables hanging around) without any assistance - anyone can get inside and grab whatever wanted. If I provided you a picture from this room, you would say it is below 1* standard.

Pool was lovely. Not too far away from the main attractions (20-30 min stroll or 5-10 mins in a taxi) we used the scooters outside and were there in no time.

A Pleasant Stay

I had a very pleasant short stay here. The staff were friendly and very helpful, recommending the best places to visit in the city and how to get there. It's about a 20 minute walk into the heart of Verona with some lovely streets and piazzas to explore on the way. I was, however, a bit disappointed to discover that you have to pay to use the spa facilities here (sauna, etc.). Nevertheless, it's a nice hotel with good facilities.

The front desk and restaurant staff were very friendly and accommodating. The hotel spa is also great and the gym is better than expected.
The breakfast buffet is served by staff but the logistics wasn’t great and you can wait a while to be served during busier times, I can see that this was done for covid but would have been much easier to make people use hand sanitiser and serve themselves (as you do with the coffee machine).

A lovely Christmas in Verona.

We had a lovely stay here over Christmas, The girls on reception were amazing. Nothing was too much trouble, they found us restaurants to eat at on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. They are a credit to your hotel. Our room was excellent with all that we required. It's a 20 min walk from the main train Station to the Hotel and a 28 min walk from the hotel into the middle of Verona. Just what we wanted. Thank you.

The room's bedding was made as we requested.
Sadly, the cleanliness of the beds is terrible.
Every bed (3 in total) has many, many hairs in its linens, seems to be both animals and people's too.

I stayed here before, when I attended professional conference few years ago, so I booked hotel San Marco for this trip based on my previous experience. Great and friendly staff, also serves excellent breakfast! The location is excellent if you want to hangout at the piazza San Zeno area, Castelvecchio which is all within 20 mins slow pace walking. I took the city bus #11, #95(after 9pm return trip from city center) from just infront of hotel going into and coming back from the Piazza Bra, Porto Nuova, Castelvecchio. I would not worry about the distance at all!

This was a family stay where we were looking for a convenient and clean hotel to allow us to explore Verona. The stay was very pleasant and the personnel was very friendly and helpful, they gave us plenty of information on the city and surrounding areas. The rooms were clean and quiet. The only small disadvantage was that the hotel was a good 20 min from the Arena area. I would still recommend it as a nice hotel to pick when you visit Verona with family due to space, pool etc

The hotel is about 30 mins walk from the historic centre. Sadly there is not really a huge amount in the immediate area. We booked the hotel as it had a pool but if you want to lay in the sun you’ll need to be up early as the are very few spots the see any for any reasonable amount of time as it’s surrounded by buildings. Rooms are clean and comfortable if not a little tired. On site secure parking is good.

Hotel San Marco is situated on the outskirts of Verona in a quiet, residential area. Taxis into the centre are cheap, there is a bus and readily available bike hire. My friend and I stayed for 2 nights in July 2019 and had a wonderful stay. The room was clean and the air con very effective. The pool was a welcome retreat after a busy day exploring the city. Staff were kind and helpful and the bar prices very reasonable. Highly recommended.

A wonderful place to stay in Verona

A wonderful place to stay. Staff are very friendly and helpful. I was able to use their business centre without charge when I experienced problems with my laptop. They have a better map of the city than I was given by the tourist info at the station. The pool is very good and the breakfast has everything you want for a very reasonable charge of 10 euros. It is about a 15 to 20 minute walk to the station and the city centre. There are 2 laundromats nearby plus a local Trattoria across the street with an amazing wine list, a local Pizza shop where you buy the already prepared pizza by weight and they cook it for you. About 12 varieties and about 7 euros to fill up. Also a take away Sri Lankan restaurant about 400 metres down the street which has huge meals for about 4 -6 euros each. Not to forget the hotel also serves great meals at reasonable prices by the pool and the bar is also open to about 11pm each night. Again, reasonable prices. A great find to stay at. Also parking available for those who drive at 9 euros a day I believe. Wifi never failed me the whole time I was here in my room, around the hotel and out at the pool.

A great hotel for the business traveller or tourist. Close to the airport and train station. Room I stayed in was very comfortable, spacious and quiet. Huge bathroom with spa bath and shower. No view from the bedroom but this wasnt an issue at all. With in easy walking distance of the city centre in about 20 mins and to wide selection of bars and restaurants in about 10 mins. A good gym in the basement with small indoor pool, all very clean and well maintained. Reasonable sized outdoor pool. So great place to relax in. Staff were all very helpful and friendly. Would definitely stay here again.

The hotel has a parking garage for a charge. It is located outside the Verona city walls and difficult to find. Of course it is less expensive than most hotels within the city walls. It was comfortable. The WiFi Was overloaded as it continually bumped us off. Breakfast was nice and very pleasant reception staff helped to make our stay enjoyable.

We had a very nice stay in Verona, partly because if the excellent service we received at the Hotel San Marco. The staff were extremely helpful, friendly, and they went out of their way for the clientele. The spa was fun too; glad we spent a couple of hours there. There was a shuttle to and from downtown, but also walkable distance. We loved it.

Short city break

My Girlfriend and I stayed at the San Marco for a short weekend break to see the sights of Verona.

Whilst not ideally placed, it was only a short bus ride (about 10 minutes) away from the Verona Arena where pretty much everything else is within walking distance. Plus bus tickets are very cheap (between 1 and 2 Euro's) We were told by the Reception Staff that it was only a 20 minute walk into the Arena plaza, but we saved our walking energy for when we reached the center.

Hotel itself doesn't look that impressive from out the front, but once inside the Hotel it is very well presented. Very clean everywhere, basic rooms, but comfy beds and couldn't fault the hotel at all. Reception staff are very helpful and speak English if you have any problems.

We were unable to check out the Spa and Pool areas, as our trip was for only a couple of nights and we wanted to explore Verona as much as we could within this timeframe.

I would recommend anyone visiting Verona to purchase a 'VeronaCard' from any Tobacco shop, ours cost us 22 Euro's each, and with these cards they either allow free entry into tourist sites or a reduction in entry price.

Overall a very pleasant stay, and would return again.

Very nice hotel

The hotel is in a good location from the city centre a short cab journey or you can take a bus which you can catch just outside the hotel which me and my partner took on the first day which was very much enjoyable. From the airport itself I would say it's about 25 mins or so, for some reason the cab journey back to the airport was more expensive 30 euros. We didn't use the spa resort in the hotel as me and my partner didn't bring any suitable wear for it, to use it will cost you 15 euros, this doesn't come with treatments. The staff were friendly and on hand to help with your queries they made us feel very welcome, Our bedroom was a good size, with a nice comfy bed and powerful shower. You will have to pay a city tax after your stay, I wasn't aware of this during my booking it cost 8 euros. Overall a real nice hotel. They allowed us to check in early as well.

Cheap and cheerful

This hotel was perfectly adequate. No complaints about the cleanliness or location.
I think this is a perfect example of you get what you pay for. It was a cheap and cheerful weekend away, and we obviously were in the lowest grade of room, overlooking a noisy, busy road. The bed was hard and uncomfortable and there was only one, wafer thin pillow. Had a great time in Verona, but didn't sleep at all well or come back refreshed.
I wish we had paid a bit more and been a bit more comfortable in hindsight....
