This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. I found bed bugs in my room around 4 a.m. and immediately went to the front desk. The overnight staff was rude, dismissive, and completely unbothered—they refused to move me and claimed no rooms were available. There was no apology or concern for my safety or comfort.

At 9 a.m., I spoke to another employee who first insisted that bed bugs were “impossible.” After I showed him clear photos, he instantly admitted, “Yeah, we have bed bugs,” with no sense of urgency or accountability.

The lack of hygiene is bad enough, but the staff’s attitude was shocking. No empathy, no solution, and no responsibility. This hotel failed basic sanitation and customer service standards.

Do not stay here. If management can’t maintain a pest-free environment or treat guests with respect, they don’t deserve your business.

It is conveniently located. Metro is right on the corner.
Extremely noisy both from the traffic and especially the noisy from groups after groups of teenager students who stay in this hotel. Their shouting and screaming noisy can continue up to 2 or 3 am. Had 2 very disturbing nights at this hotel.

We were pleasantly surprised upon locating the Achillion Hotel as the area in which the hotel is found is populated with homeless people, run down buildings and graffiti.
The hotel itself, however, is very clean, modern and attractive. We were greeted by friendly staff on reception, check in was simple and straightforward and our room was spacious and comfortable.

Hotel was located in a sketchy area. View from the balcony below was of homeless folks and reeked of urine. Centralized AC in the hotel so the rooms never got cool/cold. We asked hotel staff for a fan but never received it. The beds were uncomfortable w/bed bugs. We woke the next morning to multiple bug bites. One very narrow elevator. I will not stay here again.

Staying in a hotel in Omonia is a bit like staying in a hotel in Brixton - you just need it to be on a nice street close to the metro. The Achillion is lovely, the staff are very helpful and accommodating, and late check-in (I arrived after midnight) was not a problem. It is opposite a pharmacy and a café (K29), there's 2 kiosks and multiple coffee shops to the left, and the metro station.

I was using it as a base for business/family visit, so I had a lot to do in Athens and it was ideal for me in terms of price, location, value for money etc. WiFi was patchy but perfectly serviceable for my purposes and I was on the 7th floor in a back corner room.

The hotel serves breakfast, lunch and dinner but be aware that there are time slots for different floors. Breakfast is served from 7am-10am but there are 7 floors in the hotel and a small restaurant, so Floors 1-3 are served 7-8am, 4-5 are 8-9am and 6-7 are 9-10am (at least when I was there). Check with reception if you've got breakfast included. Book lunch/dinner slots too, or check if you can show up! Room Service may not do lunch but there are takeaway menus at reception if you want to order something in, they'll place the order for you.

The rooms are cleaned to a good/high standard, there's a safe in the wardrobe and any issues were seen to when reported.

The lift is a tad narrow and takes a while, which might be an issue with big bags or for wheelchair users?

I would definitely stay here again.

Very friendly staff, excellent breakfast and very good value overall. We stayed four to a room, which meant extra beds were brought in. We appreciated that, but one of the beds squeaked so much we feared it would not hold an adult. But it did.
The hotel is also very well situated between two metro stations and walking distance to the Center of Athens.

Beds were painfully hard. Not one member of my (4 person) family slept well. Neither the mini fridge nor TV worked. Paint peeling from the walls. Bath water oscillated between boiling hot and ice cold. Housekeeping was atrocious. Black mold in the shower which was easily wiped away, meaning NO ONE IS CLEANING!!! They tout an 8/10 Trip Advisor rating... That was 2012. Hotel is now an absolute mess and neighbourhood is sketchy at best. STAY AWAY! Disgusting.

Extremely aggravated that the hotel pictures advertised online DID NOT match what the hotel and rooms actually looked like. Very misleading! The hotel was a dive in an extremely seedy part of town. The two rooms booked had beds with deep indentations in the mattresses or a thin one with a board. My daughter woke up with bug bites on her legs! Bathrooms were tiny. No air conditioning, forget WiFi - it kept dropping. We prepaid the rooms and were stuck for the night. Cab drivers did not want to pick up or drop off due to the hotels distance and location. We were turned down on multiple occasions for those reasons. I have never written a review before, but felt compelled to do so this time.

The staff was very accommodating when we first arrived at the hotel. They allowed us to check-in early. The room was a little warm but thought that would change when we got there. The internet was very very slow and they had one person working the front desk and bar at the same time. The room never cooled off after I asked someone to come and check to see if we had turned the settings on correctly. The directions located in the room did not match the new system that had been installed into the room. Overall I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

Great location, closes to metro, less than 10 mins. walk. Easy travel to attractions, Port Piraeus and airport. Safe area. Breakfast is the usual and adequate. No milk supply for in room tea making, also no coffee. We stayed in the Delux room on 4th floor, therefore, the room is slightly bigger, furnishing better and the bathroom is slightly more apaciouis. Best of all the shower has shower screen! WIFI still not good.

We needed one night hotel in Athens and choose Achillion based on the reviews in this site and price. we came to the hotel and got room 210, that was old with horrible beds, and looked nothing like the pictures (or good reviews). But given we planned staying only one night we didn't care.

After resting on the bed for one hour both my partner and I started extremely itching on our backs and had many insect (bed bugs?) bites signs on our skin on areas which where only facing the bed. We went down to the reception to complain and was offered alternative room (which looked the same to the first one). we both felt so bad and itching we decided to leave the hotel immediately and went to different hotel. our request for refund was denied.

this was terrible experience and I am very desepointed from the hotel and hotels.com (which I expect to provide customers some protection and validate reviews and hotels star).

bottom line: I rather sleep on the street than on this hotel.

Late booking via Expedia, when we got to the hotel after 10 waiting we were told there was a mix up & no rooms were available. They said they had organized us to stay at a similar 3* hotel round the corner. Next hotel seemed much cheaper but they charged the same price.

Looking at hotel reviews of this part of Athens I notice other people said they were moved around.

The hotel area was unpleasant and not where I would choose to stay again.

Great basic hotel with awesome breakfast

The hotel is very clean with nice sized rooms, though extremely basic. They have some of the best black-out curtains I've ever sen. The staff were wonderful and the breakfast was to die for. Actually some of the best food we ate all trip. The location is a nice walk from the Acropolis, outside of the heart of the tourist area but close to a subway stop. There was a lot of noise from other hotel guests (kids crying, drunk girls singing) but it's hard to say if this is a regular occurrence. I would recommend this hotel, especially for the price.

what are you wanting from a room?

First off, how much time do you really spend in your room. My girlfriend and I only slept and showered there so this hotel was great. They had a decent buffet for only 5 euro, the rooms were small but for 2 people they were fine. The staff was helpful and friendly and I have no complaints. We were able to get on a bus tour just a block away. The area could be considered sketchy but we never felt unsafe and we went out to walk around at 2am and lived.

The hotel rooms are very very dated. The linens on the bed where clean but did not look great. What ever they had at the foot of the bed - some type of linen thing - was gross and was not clean.

The breakfast was good and well worth 5 euro. Coffee was great - they had eggs, fruit, cereal, yogurt, meats and cheeses. Lots of breads and pastries too.

The location was good - and the front desk very helpful.

While the area has a bad reputation, it really isn't that bad. As two young female travellers we never felt unsafe and the hotel is lovely and a little hidden. The dark haired young woman at reception was incredibly friendly and so informative. Rooms are big, our fridge didn't work but they happily moved us to another room. Only downside is the wifi is SHOCKING, expect to sit in hallway / lobby to get any connection

The staff were very nice, the room was clean, and I didn't mind the location, though if you're not used to a bit of sketchiness, move closer to Plaka. But Athens is a safe city, so it's in your imagination anyway, so I recommend challenging that if it's there. The breakfast was good, with an option for better coffee than some places. I would stay there again and recommend it to traveler friends.

The hotel staff provided a great customer service. It is a walking disantance to the flea market, tourist attractions, and restaurants. Very affordable breakfast buffet with fresh boil egg, hot sausages, fruits, orange juice, coffee, etc. The surroundings are quiet and safe at night. The beds are comfortable and every time I wake up in the morning, I feel fresh. The only thing, I am nagging about this hotel is the bathroom because there's not enough space for me to move my arms when shampooing my hair and clean my toes. All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel to my family and friends.

Conveniently located, not much else going for it

This hotel is near the Omonia Metro station, which makes it very convenient for exploring all the tourist areas of Athens. However, the hotel is very no-frills, more like a 2-star than 3-star; a tiny room with no desk or seating area and a closet not even big enough to put my suitcase in. There are no hotel amenities besides a continental breakfast, it's in an aging building, in a neighborhood that despite its convenient location is not in an area you'd want to stay in with kids. Also, they do offer wifi, but it's frustratingly inconsistent.

That said, for the price (I paid less than $30/night), it's certainly adequate, and I didn't have any problems with the cleanliness of my room. The receptionist gave me a good overview of the area when I checked in, which I appreciated. And although I said the neighborhood wasn't ideal for families, I was traveling by myself and never felt threatened walking around.

But the bottom line is that I expected more given Expedia's 3-star rating.

Nice hotel

I like the hotel was close to everything, close to omona square, people said kind of dangerous, but i didn`t see any problem at all, and the hotel was nice, like the breakfast
