Building works going on throughout the hotel which wasn’t made clear at booking.

We were in a ‘family room’ which was essentially a meeting room converted on the ground floor. The only radiator in such a large room was around half a meter from my head when in bed, the chosen location very uncomfortable and I therefore did not sleep well at all.

Shower tray flooded easily which was annoying.

Ok but the experience was certainly not worth what we paid.

Hotel was lovely, a warm welcome on arrival. Beds were comfy and shower was great. We loved the gym and spa area. It would have been nice for the hotel to let us know prior to arrival there would be renovations during our stay, we had no communication about this happening. We were woken up with the builders starting work at 8am midweek which wasn’t nice.

The room we had had a few marks on the walls and water didn’t drain away quickly in the bathroom, a few little niggles. But overall we enjoyed our stay and would return once hotel has finished renovations.

This is my second stay here and it's not my last. This hotel looks unremarkable from the outside but it is beautiful on the inside. Open fires, stunning wood beam ceilings, a fantastic pool and the rooms are spotless.
There are spa treatments available but we didn't make use of them this time. The treatments are a bit pricey but i think if you buy a spa package when you're booking your room it works out cheaper, so have a look.
The staff in the hotel are all lovely and very friendly.
I can't sing the praises of this hotel enough.

Booked as a birthday gift for husband and chose a four poster suite. Very disappointing.
Tired décor, ripped curtains, stained carpets and dirty mirror. Bathroom very dated and a foist smell throughout.
When we arrived there was a vacuum and dirty cloths on the floor so made reception aware.
They told me they'd notify housekeeping.
Not the four poster suite l'd expected on booking.
Other than that, the spa is fine with a lovely warm whirlpool and loungers around the poolside. The restaurant is nice.
A shame that the experience didn't live up to expectations as we were looking forward to a luxurious break away.

Very spacious and clean with a little living area, including: sofa and coffee table, fridge, radio, coffee machine etc. was on ground floor, which was great, but near housekeeping, which was extremely noisy between 9an till 4 or 5 really. Not too much of a bother if you’re going out. But I was there to stay in and relax as I was unwell. Had continuous problems with the room key card. It took 4 attempts before I finally got to room. Then many visits to reception to get it fixed again during my stay. The spa/swim/gym area is one of the best I’ve seen. Extremely clean, up to date and every amenity. Unfortunately, you need to pay once per stay to access use of this area while booking third party. I do not think it should be advertised as having those facilities when you book the room on hotels.com, it should be an optional extra, the same way as breakfast and meals. The reception staff were lovely and very friendly. I enjoyed my stay overall. Would definitely visit again.

The hotel had a lovely feel to it. Nice, clean, friendly attentive staff.

The spa was fantastic. The pool was a nice temperature and clean, as were all the facilities.

The whirlpool, sauna, steamroom were all great and and a back and shoulder massage was fantastic.

The food was good quality, the breakfast special of avacado and eggs on toast was cooked to perfection.

My daughter and I enjoyed a couple of relaxing days at the hotel, after burning energy during the day, exploring the beautiful surroundings, on foot (hiking), paddleboarding and horseriding.

Wasn’t given any information on arrival about what facilities on offer ie food, spa etc given key and that was it.
Room was modern, clean apart from some grubby parts in the bathroom which need some cilet bang! The room and bed was nice and comfy. We used the spa, has a whirlpool which was okay, steam was roasting and didn’t use the sauna cause they are seperate in the changing rooms. Nice comfy robes in the room though which were nice and I also liked a fresh milk & water fountain on each floor.
Didn’t eat or drink in the hotel as only 10min walk to Penrith town centre where you wilk get lovely food

The main dinning area was nice but unfortunately the bedroom we stayed in had a lot of mould in the bathroom and the room just felt damp and smelt off. The bed was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was nice and offered plenty of options. The pool area which you have to pay for was always very busy. Overall, I wouldn’t stay here again.

The Hotel was alright, but when paying £200+ a night you expect it to be spot on. The cleanliness of the batheroom wasn't great mould on the grout and in the overflow (strange thing to mention i know but it was at perfect eye line when on the toilet) limescale around the tap, and dirty classes left for water. A little bit of attention to detail would rectify the issue im sure.

My biggest concern was the bare electrical components within touching distance of the sink and toilet in a family room.
I was staying with my 3 year old son and as much as kids are told not to touch cables or plugs they do at times. So this is very dangerous and a shock from 240v at that age could be fatal. Not impressed with this at all. It was reported to reception

Arrived at 9:30pm after a long day of work. Lifted the toilet seat up and there was poo smeared on the toilet seat. Lifted the second one up and realised it the toilet was never cleaned. Upon closer inspection the floor was covered in hair (definitely not mine). Called reception, took them a while to come and check then took another while to send someone to try clean it because there were no other rooms available. I don’t know what cleaning they tried to do because the poo stain was still there. I had to use hand sanitizer and tissue to clean it myself. Felt really uncomfortable . When i told reception in the morning they didn’t seem bothered and just said they will let someone know. Won’t be coming back

Comfortable quality experience.

Very slick check-in with staff who clearly know their job, are all over the systems and clearly want you to have the best stay possible. Robes and slippers are available to use if visiting the pool or spa. Spacious, quiet room with tea/coffee making facilities and quality toiletries. Choice of pillows and large comfortable bed.
We ate in the restaurant both evenings. The food choice was wide, well cooked and presented invitingly. However, the waitress who served us both evenings obviously knew “the drill” of her role, but in reality was far from assisting you to have a positive dining experience. She was going through the motions and really gave the impression that she did not want to be there. She did neither take nor act on criticisms seriously, appearing not to care if you enjoyed your dining experience or not. She chewed , presumably, gum throughout the service and was extremely sullen at all times.
This is a very comfortable hotel and gives very good value for money.

The staff were great, the location of the hotel again was great. Sadly the room was tired, especially the carpets, which were stained quite badly. Additionally there was no a/c and the extractor fan in the bathroom didn’t work, making the room very stuffy. The staff gave us another fan, as one was already in the room.

Booked and paid for 2 night stay at this spa hotel then i was told i had to pay another £30 to use facilities ie pool, sauna jacuzzi etc which annoyed me to be fair. Its a spa hotel ? Surely these facilities should be in with booking price. Pay for massages and treatments no problem but surely not for pool. But heyho had to do it or stay would have been pointless. The breakfast was cold so left most of it and didnt even bother the next morning. Such a shame because the hotel is beautiful and the staff were polite and professional and really nice. Unfortunately i wont be returning 😕

Far from a 4star experience - we had a suite and it was in a very poor state of repair/cleanliness. Very poor decorating which looks like a child had done the work - paint on the curtains. After booking a suite in a Hotel with pool and Spa we would of needed to pay £30 extra to access the pool.

The hotel is ideally situated - while not being in an immediately picturesque location, its proximity to the M6, A66 and Penrith North Lakes railway station make it the perfect base for exploring the beauty of the Lake District in one direction and Yorkshire in the other. The staff are excellent, particularly in the FYR restaurant: friendly, helpful and attentive. The food is equally impressive and the hotel itself is clean, comfortable and a pleasure to stay in.

Overpriced. We paid £360 for 2 nights with breakfast. On arrival we had to pay a further £30.00 to use the pool area. This being an extea charge for not booking direct. So £390 in all. Our room wasn't made up on the 2nd day until gone 3pm. Used cups not, cleaned, removed or replaced. Water stains from cups not cleaned. Hardly any wardrobe hanging space. Other than that the hotel is fine, but needs better standards in respect of room cleaning. We won't use this chain again due to the additional charging to use facilities which really should be included, given the price we had already paid. Extortionate

Flannel provided. Spa product's and the cutest sheep cups. Dressing gown and slippers.

Quick check in which was good. Room extremely hot despite the closed curtains and fan is wasn’t pleasant. Opened the window to let some air in then you have the traffic noise from the M6. Hardly slept cancelled the second night as wasn’t a great experience. Food was expensive and bland. £21 for a dry over cooked burger with a thin slice of tomato, 2 lettuce leaves, some cheese and a slice of bacon. Staff were helpful when I explained why I cancelled breakfast and the second night. Doubtful I would stay again in warm weather.

Unable to book an evening meal on arrival, but that was a blessing in retrospect because the breakfasts were not enjoyable - food from under the hot-lights.

Just enjoyed a lovely one night stay the hotel looks very bland from the outside but once you get indoor the decor is lovely.

we paid £15 each to use the spa facilities definitely worth it we made good use of it during our stay my wife booked herself in for a massage.

Room was very good lovely comfortable bed with all the amenities coffee machine, iron, ironing board, hairdryer etc. The only thing I would pull it on is the shower can become very slippy from the soap or shower gel.

We didn’t have our evening meal in the restaurant but we did have breakfast plenty of choice from usual breakfast items to pancakes and pastries.
Overall it was a lovely would definitely stay here again.

We recently stayed at the North Lakes Hotel & Spa as a stopover on our journey from Scotland to England, and it was a fantastic experience. The hotel itself is beautiful, with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, and the family room was perfect for us. The children were thrilled to find named biscuits and their own welcome packs waiting on arrival – such a thoughtful touch! One of my personal highlights was the fresh milk machine just outside our room, which made bedtime bottles for the kids super easy. The room was spacious, tastefully decorated, and catered really well to our family’s needs. While the hotel was incredibly child-friendly overall, we did find the restaurant a bit tricky – it was lovely but hard to get a reservation, and it didn’t feel quite as geared towards families as the rest of the hotel. That said, we would absolutely return and highly recommend it for anyone travelling with children – it made our long journey so much more enjoyable and comfortable.

We stayed overnight as we were at wedding being held there. The wedding started at 3pm, we asked if we could check in early so we could get ready before the wedding so we didn't get our clothes creased during the hour drive to the hotel. We had to pay an extra £25 to get checked in at 1pm. The amount we paid for the room and the amount my friend paid for her daughters wedding i was shocked at how much was charged. It’s appears that this Hotel must be struggling financially. They charge £15 per head for use of their pool and this is only shown in the fine print. The shampoo in your room is available for purchase at £26 a bottle but these aren’t new bottles - guests before you have also used them. Charging more than £50 for shampoo and conditioner is simply an insane price. The robes have supermarket-style antitheft devices on them, again suggesting a problem with cost management.

The walls were so thin we could hear the guy next door coughing all night and at 6am kids were running up and down the hallway shouting like they were in a Travelodge. There were hotels nearby which were 30% cheaper which might have been a better choice.

Excellent Hotel for those looking to break a long journey going north from The Home Counties. However, unlike many quality hotels, who are well sign posted, this one is not, thus making it difficult to find.

Definitely not a 4-Star stay

The foyer was pleasant and staff throughout did their best to accommodate.
However our room was dirty and the decor in no way reflected the pictures on the website. The general standard was very poor- cups were unclean, the shower should significant signs of mould in the tiles, floor and around the shower head. The pillows were lumpy and stained. I requested a move and all that was available was damp, cold and musty. The carpet in the replacement room was worn and had large fold that could have been a trip hazard.

The Spa could hardly be referred to as such- it was a swimming pool with a jacuzzi at the side and to use the facility there was an additional charge. Children were having official swimming lessons making it overcrowded. The only real adult time was either dinner time in the evening or early morning.

Our food was average at best! It took 45 minutes to arrive and my Parmesan and Truffle oil pasta has no Parmesan!

Throughout the hotel I noticed worn carpets and scuffed doors and skirting boards.

While based on website photos some f the hotel must have had an upgrade but they clearly give poorer rooms to those not booking directly.

We have just returned from a two night stay at the hotel with one morning spent in the spa. The hotel was really easy to find and the location was great for getting to towns nearby. The staff were friendly and accommodating. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was really nice and dined there in the evening. We would highly recommend. Thank you for a great weekend.

Excellent hotel that we enjoyed, HOWEVER we we informed after booking that there is a £15 per person fee to use the pool and spa for those who book through Expedia/Hotels.com.......
A fee is mentioned in the hotel description if you go and read through the info, but the value of the fee is not mentioned.
So whilst i actually booked thia hotel specific for the pool and spa, we did not use either. The actual fee need to be mentioned in the hotel details on their listing.

In future if we use this hotel again, which we might because it was very nice, we will book direct as the spa fee only applies to third party bookings.

Fab weekend stay

Staff very friendly and accommodating. Could have walked into Penrith. Plenty parking. Lovely pool, hot tub and steam room. Will definitely return.

Very disappointed the hotel could not provide breakfast early only late slots available we had business appointments and could not do the later times hotel unwilling to accommodate us.
