clean and pleasant stay with friendly service

overall we has a pleasant experience. The reception was good. Li Mann was very helpful with shopping guidance. The air conditioning cannot be controlled. It was a bit too warm for us in the early evening but the room did get cooler closer to morning. The shower head was a bit slow and the room is not big but the price and service made up for any deficit.

Dirty hotel room

The cleanliness of this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. There is clearly flood damage in the room, yet they still allowed this room to be rented out. Wallpaper near the windows was wet and falling down. The carpets was wet and dirty. I think they know hence they provided slippers for us. During our 1 night stay there. There was a few mosquitoes in our room despite the air con being on the lowest and the mosquito repellent plug being put on. Another minus for this hotel is that although it is next to the train station. To try a get a taxi of didi (Chinese Uber or grab) is extremely difficult as the policemen outside do not allow the cars to stop there

The staff at the hotel were friendly, the room was quiet and the bedding was clean. However the room's airconditioner was ineffective and the bathroom smelled strongly of urine. The area around Guangzhou railway station is run down compared with other parts of the city, and you will have to run the gauntlet of touts, vagrants and police cordons to travel the hundred metres from metro exit D1 to the hotel entrance. At times I didn't feel safe in the area, and I wouldn't stay at this hotel again for that reason.

Good location. Near to Guangzhou South Railway station and Metro line 2 and line 8. Hotel at the same complex where airport express service final stop. To and fro Baiyun International Airport T1 and T2 only less than 60 min, at 22 yuan ....super value. For business it is good, but people looking for shopping will be disappointed. Working distance to apparel wholesale centres.

Room has no fridge and beware of mosquitos. TV difficult to operate. No view in room. Breakfast simple n basic. Close to railway station but no lift or escalator outside A2 exit n will be difficult for people with big bulky luggage. Many touts and agents outside hotel offering taxi or accommodation so avoid talking to them. Main guangzhuo station is too crowded and chaotic n many security n police guarding the place. Seems scary.
Outside hotel has some restaurants n a supermarket. Supermarket price is steep but no choice becos no other shops.
Generally hotel is pretty basic n stay elsewhere if you can.

Overall it was fine. Its just that water was not draining out of shower cubicle quickly so by the time I completed the shower, water was up to my ankle ! I did report but they sent someone (room clearner) with low English language skills and they had a temporary fix but it did not work. Reception staff (Incl. Chris) were very friendly and had good helpful skills. Breakfast was reasonable. Dead cockroaches around. Good location as it was closer to a railway station.
A tip for shopping : there are few good shops (in 2 buildings) across the other side of the railway station. Worth visiting. Good watches and clothes bargain.

Yes the hotel is good for its close proximity to MTR, and in the good department, that's just about it.

The journey from hotel to/from MTR is an experience. Street touting offering you accommodation and the smell of urine on the street was horrible.

I arrived to hotel pass-midnight. When arrived, i thought the hotel went out of business! The lights outside were switched off (unlike the bright photo in the advertisement) and the check in counter has only dim light.

Facility-wise, the air condition gave intermittent cranking sound and needed to flip the fan speed switch several times to make it go away. The bed was hard and gave squeaky noise.

Lastly the service level of transportation is very poor. Bus ticket sales lady answered inquiry as if i owe her money. Taxi driver from airport to hotel were very poor and rude. Poor because instead of stopping at hotel lobby, he stopped 100 meters away and asked me to walk in myself. Rude for directly insulting the hotel i chose. \"Guangzhou is full of hotels and you chose this?! Of all places, you want to sleep near this train station?!\" Unfortunately as rude as he was, there was some truth.

Hard beds but that is because our soft western frames. Fantastic location for rail and taxi and clothing/fashion markets.

We would highly recommended baiyun hotel as the staff were friendly and we had our room refreshed everyday with new water and can't beat the free breakfast.

Is very near to guangzhou railway metro station and also the bus station to baiyun airport, there are few restaurant besides the hotel as well, security is good and reception is fine, bed is hard..But acceptable. Just that, cleanliness need to improve, there is stain on my bed and pillow. Besides, i can smell cigarette smoke in the room..When I sleep or after coming back which I believe may come from room beside..I was sleeping in a midst of smoke which is my nightmare...Will prefer if they could have separate smoke and non smoker room by floor..

My stay at the Baiyun City Hotel was ok. It didn't met my expectations according to the pictures posted online of the beautification of the hotel, and I think that is deceiving.

The hotel is old, smell old, my hotel room smell old the whole time i was there; for about 3 weeks even though it was been cleaned every single day. I think i would have been very sick if i hadn't taken my vaccination or took my medication with me because i could smell the dust in the furnishing despite being cleaned everyday.

The location is the only thing I can give a 5 star but their was no comfort in the hotel after a long day, when you just want to come to your hotel and relax.

The heating didn't really work so was the air conditioning. Air conditioning was very loud all the time.

The customer service was excellent. The speak English and was very helpful all the time.

The free breakfast was also good but they hotel need more vary its meal menu to regularly and not the same thing every single day. There was not many option to choose from basically.

Hotel needs a much needed renovation and they should update the real photos of the true condition of hotel. Those photos online are not true and are absolutely deceiving!

Will recommend it because of the location and staff helpful nature!!

I took photos of other hotels across China and didn't took a single photo of this hotel.

Very convenient location, next to the Guangzhou Railway Station. You walk about 100 m from the entrance, to the left (with your back to the station). Room had good size, clean and comfortable. Free wifi. Free breakfast included. Plenty of places to eat around the hotel (including KFC if you want it- we did not). Metro station in front of the Railway Station.

Lied to me about shuttle going to airport.

When I booked the hotel It plainly stated that there was a free one way shuttle pickup at the airport. Once I arrived at the airport, I called for the shuttle at 10:30 p.m. I was told that I would have to take a cab that they did not have a shuttle. The airport was 40 minutes from the hotel. I called back 45 minutes later and ask to speak to the manager and told her that my paper work showed that they would provide me a free shuttle from the airport to the hotel, then I was told that the shuttle stopped running at 11:00 o'clock. I had no choice but to call a cab, which cost me 72 U.S.D. And before I booked the hotel, I had Orbitz to call the hotel and ask when the shuttle service stopped running at night. They told Orbitz that it stopped at midnight. So, the next day when I got up at the hotel, I went to the desk, to complain about the shuttle and was told that they did not have a shutttle that went to the airport period. I said what about a ride back to the airport, I was told that I would have to call another cab. That cab cost me 30 U.S.D. For a total of 102 U.S.D. Their beds are like a rock. They have no box springs. It is a hard mattress laying on a board. If you don't have back trouble when you go to bed, you will when you wake up. The hotel is very noisy, you can hear thur the walls and it sits on a street, were the cars horns blow all night long. Every time you get to sleep, someone lays on a horn. The hotel is also a 40 minute drive from the Canton Fair.

Business hotel for the Chinese, not Westerners

We picked this hotel for it's centrality to the CBD, thinking we could access things easily, but this is not a hotel for Westerners as the staff have no English and could not understand when we were asking for directions. Everything is in Chinese, and it took us two days to find the Tourist Information Centre and get a map in English. There are no tourist buses to do a city sights tour, and definitely not with an English guide, so it was very frustrating and disappointing not to be able to see much at all.
There is only a Chinese style breakfast offered in the restaurant next door, and no toilets in the foyer when you have checked out. The room was quite large, with a lovely big bathroom and good shower, but the mattress was terrible! It was like sleeping on wooden boards and we both woke up with backache.

Stay Away! Terrible!! Not 3 Star Quality!!

Overall terrible experience, save your money. We had to pay a $200 deposit upfront as insurance. Staff did not speak english nor cantonese (mainly mandarin,) which we did not speak so it was hard to communicate. Pictures of the room on this site is NOT TRUE. We stayed on the 3rd floor. Rooms were small and dirty, the bathroom is shady and old looking. Also there was a really bad odor coming from the vent (dont turn it on.) The toilet clogged every other day that we were there and had to call someone to fix it. The daily room cleaning is nothing but changing towels and fixing the bed up along with mopping the floor. They do not change the bedsheets unless asked specifically. The pillows I had had stains on it. Wifi sucked and had trouble connecting, when we did it was really slow and disconnects every 5 minutes. There is no closet, just a drawer to put stuff on top of. The a.c was weak (not cold enough.)

One of the days we stayed, they did a daily room cleaning and had higher in temperature our air conditioner and opened our shades. When we came back we saw a mosquito on the curtains and killed it. Then I got bit several times and realized there was more than 1 mosquito in the room and demanded a room change. Staff told us to check out a room in the 6th floor. My friend and I went up to the room and noticed it was tinier and requested another room on the third floor. The condition of the new room was worse. Hallways smells like SMOKE (CIG) even tho we requested no smoking!!!

Hotel is next to busy area and you can hear the honking cars all night. I didnt get much sleep though i was exhausted. The walls are thin and the loud guest in halls can be heard. my room smelled like smoke was coming in from another room or through walls. Had to cover my nose all night

a nice stay near the train station

if you come from the train station, it is on the left hand side of the station. the room is ok for an overnight stay before we catch the train early next morning. wifi comes and goes. breakfast starts at 730 am and they could not give us a bag breakfast. for the price we paid, it is a really good deal.
for those catching the train, make sure to be there at least 1 hour ahead as the station has a very peculiar security check system - meaning SLOW.

5 Days Stay-maybe too long in this location

My wife and I spent 5 nights at this hotel in April 2015. Hotel is located at Guangzhou Railway Station within Station precinct. Signage and Entrance barely discernible from restaurants on either, includes a KFC and Pizza Hut. The lobby is pleasant and staff have enough English. Staff very helpful and pleasant to deal with. 'No Smoking' rules largely ignored. We were allocated a 3'rd floor room with a tiny window looking at a brick wall, we complained and were moved to a 1 bedroom apartment on the 6’Th floor (we booked a deluxe room). It was at the back of the hotel and very quiet. The rooms on the 3'rd Floor were poorly equipped, in poor condition, smelling of stale Smoke. The rooms on the 6’Th floor were well appointed in good condition. Cleaners cleaned everyday providing fresh towels etc. There are no other amenities. Breakfast is served several doors away. Breakfast mainly Chinese and is awful, cold or Luke-warm. They also provide fresh fruit, boiled eggs and toast. Great location for Metro and Trains but the place is teeming with people all of the time and is very, very noisy. Rated 3 because of its location and Smoking issue.

Very basic hotel, room is small, poorly maintained, breakfast is very poor not worth your time. Front desk staff knows very little English. 10minute walk from the nearest metro station, should be Guangzhou Railway Station, dont mistake it with Guangzhou EAST Railway Station. Beside the Guangzhou Railway Station going to the different parts of China which made the surroundings dirty due to the many people taking the railway. Not recommended for families with small children. Airport bus A is 3minute walk. Better to take this to/fr the airport than the metro.

Well priced hotel for Canton Fair

This hotel is one of the few hotels that are well priced at the time of the Canton Fair. And the daily shuttle service to and from the Fair is excellent. The hotel is also close to the metro (Guangzhou Railway Station, exit D2). The only disappointing thing is that the food options near the hotel aren't that great. There are few average Chinese cuisine restaurants adjacent and a McDonalds and a KFC a short walk away. However, if you feel like more variety that isn't takeaways, you need to catch a train. Also the free breakfast was basic and exactly the same every morning.

A good accommodation to stay for business traveler with basis facilities but no Lunch, Dinner options. Unavailability of business center is one negative aspect of hotel. Language problem with staff makes it a little tougher to communicate but not impossible. Close to Metro and Railway station.

Stay for 5 nites on 30/4, Room was clean and the bed was VERY hard but manage to sleep after a long day of meeting and traveling. Breakfast was OK but serve the same menu everyday. Transport by railway train, MRT(Subway), taxi and shuttle bus to airport are all walking distance from the hotel. For safety, there are many police and police post around the hotel, maybe it was near to the Guangzhou railway station. Because there are always human traffic around the clock in and out the railway station.

I stayed in the hotel during the canton fair. Considering the price we paid, it is not a bad hotel from the room comfort point of view. However, it can be one of the worst location to be in if you are looking at some sound sleep. Since the hotel is right next to Guangzhou Railway Station it is always very noisy at any hour and specially at night. Another frustrating thing about the hotel is that if you need a taxi you have to stand in the station taxi stand, in which sometimes you have to stand in the cue for hours. Subway is just a walk away which is an advantage. There is no locker and storage in the room.

We enjoyed our stay here and we will be staying at the same place again :) We have booked two business rooms for 5 nights. Security is good and there are hotel staffs on every floor and you have to scan your room card inorder to press for the lift service. My security box was out of order and they replaced it with another security box within an hour. 24 hrs food service nearby including KFC and chinese fast food (beef noodles chinese food & Zheng KongFu Chinese Fast Food). Great Location and it is also near to the train station.

Reasonable hotel

It is a reasonable hotel very close to Guangzhou station. Please note it is very close to Guangzhou station NOT Guangzhou East station where most of the trains arrive. Not a lot of restaurants around here but Muslim travellers
can find Al-Bustan restaurant right behind the hotel. Saad bin Abi Waqas masjid is only a 10 minutes walk.

Wifi was not very good.

Wifi was okay for normal surfing but very bad for skype. The corridors and the lift landing has a smoky smell, guests bring their ashtray out to the corridor to smoke. Surprisingly my room smelled okay. Breakfast that was included was not bad, although it was the same thing everyday. Location was good, right beside the subway and railway station. The underground tunnels that link to the subway station can also be used to access a lot of other places.
