Setting is beautiful with a view if Borobudur from the Patio restaurant. The room was quite attractive with a lovely balcony. Private pool and spacious room and bath. Closet could be better and the shower, though large is a bit slick. The hotel provides transport to the villa, those roads are steep so not walkable.

Beautiful villas, fabulous staff who are very friendly and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. We were here for 4 nights, loved villa 215 which was a modern executive villa - nice large private pool.

The location is perfect. A beautiful view. The villas are perfect. Elegant, private, and beautiful. The service was outstanding in every dimension from housecleaning, to room service to restaurants. There multiple excellent dining options: western at the Patio, Indonesian at Stupa and at Enam Langit. This is a spectacular resort.

We stayed in Plataran resorts both in Borabadur and Labuan Bajo. The facilities are fantastic. Our room was lovely, the pools are well kept, the food is safe and tasty and we appreciated that they provided safe drinking water. We got up to take photos of the sunrising over Borabadur and it was an amazing experience. We were picked up from our villa and there was hot coffee and snacks for us while the sun came up. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. There are 2 mosques in the area that use loudspeakers but it's part of the culture and experience. Borabadur is a quick drive away and amazing.

Full privacy and tranquility as each villa has its own secluded lot, with assigned executive butler, supporting our family vacation here.

The welcome hand & shoulder massage at reception area when we arrived, quite a distinc service given.

Don't miss to indulge in one hour morning yoga session at the open court/ amphitheater of Putri Dewi joglo building, that we enjoyed before breakfast time.

There's small zoo for kids activity of feeding animal.

A big swimming pool is available also near the dining place, aside from private pool at each villa.

A remarkable place to stay indeed!!

Room for improvement

The property is conveniently located near major tourist sites Borobudur and Chicken Church. Within the resort complex there's a mini zoo, where you can feed deer foods. Near the resort lobby there's a small stable for horseback riding, while there we saw a child fell down off the horse. The hotel personnel was a bit careless, for anyone reading this review please keep a close eye of your children and always pay attetion.

We had the borobudr villa, the view is very nice as we can clearly see the temple. Breakfast buffet quality is above average, however selections could improve.

The villa could get nosiy during prayer time but ear plugs were provided. The maintenance of the villa could also improve, the Ac wasn't working properly and need to be fix, and during our stay there were small grasshopper and ants inside the room and bathhroom.

beautiful, little villa resort, convient for sightseeing - great for 1 or 2 nights. Not worse to visit the local volcano, overpriced and not interesting for an European visitor.
Downside, the hotel is surrounded by several very active mosques! You struggle to get a good night sleep although the hotel provides earplugs. From 4pm onward the main pool as well as the villa pools are in the shade, the hotel gym is very small and not well equipped.
Borobudur was our 2nd stop on the a longer Asian trip and the relaxing atmosphere of Plataran Borobudur was very much appreciated.

We absolutely loved our stay at Plataran Borobudur. We spent the first week of our honeymoon here and really enjoyed how relaxing it was.

We were so impressed at the hospitality of all of the staff; they waited on us hand and foot and made sure at every meal that we were happy and helped us with our plans for each day. The manager was amazing too!

We did the Borobudur temple at sunrise and went on a bike tour around the local villages, making some pottery and learning how to make tofu.

Would love to go back! 10/10 recommend!

When checking in we were let know that the resort is in a Muslim setting, a fact that should surprise no one traveling in Indonesia. We were offered earplugs together with this information.

Despite having traveled in several Muslim countries, we were surprised by the intensity of the Muezzin prayers over public speaker, as well as the frequency.
Sleep was impossible after 4 am, but allowed plenty of time to prepare for the sunrise, which can be observed from the restaurant's terrace with the temple in the background.

During the day and evenings, there were plenty of other sources of noise, ranging from rock music to all kinds of celebrations, making one feel like being caught in an acoustic crossfire.

Needless to say that this did impact our stay and our ability to enjoy the otherwise great hotel and restaurant.

Amazing Hotel. Only 6 minutes away by car from Borobudur temple. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were luxurious, comfortable, clean, and stylish. Loved every minute of my stay. I had my own private pool that overlooks Borobudur temple. I highly recommend staying there and trying the spa.

Perfect in every sense! And it was nice to experience the local area. The view of Borobudur was magical and serene, and it was nice just to sit and watch it glow then grow dark at sunset. Breakfast was excellent. I especially enjoyed the Indonesian options. Javanese cooking at its best!

One of my best vacations ever!

Stayed at the hotel and got a room upgrade. The whole stay was just amazing! The staff were all so accommodating and helped make my stay more wonderful. I got the recommendation to go to Borobudur for a sunset instead of the sunrise as it's cloudy and I'm pretty happy I got the best photos. Food was amazing too and enjoyed all the Indonesian food.

A beautiful place to stay, incredible staff & food

I came specifically to visit the 1,000 year old Borobudur Buddhist temple as it has been a destination I’ve wanted to explore for many years. I was considering the Plataran anyway but what swayed it was a friend’s recommendation. I loved the place. The staff were incredible, doing everything they could to maximise your time with them, giving objective and helpful recommendations and advice. At times it almost felt too attentive, which is probably a good problem to have. The only downside was that many tours were based on a minimum of 2 guests which meant that they couldn’t organise some of their great experiences for a single traveller. So I missed out on one of my choices - the cycling tour of nearby villages - which was a disappointment. However, I got to spend the afternoon by the pool followed by an hour an a half experiencing a great massage in their beautiful spa!

Beautiful hotel in a remote gorgeous setting

Excellent experience. Very beautiful and well run property. Hotel manager Thomas was really helpful and knowledge. Top notch. The property is serene and beautiful and so close to Borobudur- it’s perfect if you want to visit at sunrise.

Great experience. Thomas has encouraged us to visit other Plataran properties in Indonesia and we are looking forward to more of their excellent hospitality.

Five star service in unexpected location.

When driving there, we realized this was not a typical tourist destination teeming with tourists and along the drive I began to become concerned as it looked "rustic". We were more than pleasantly surprised to find high quality service, accommodations and food. The staff remembered (spa, restaurant, bar, front desk) all remembered us by name and our preferences (food, drink, etc.). The chef is trained in Italian cooking and traditional Indonesian cooking and would prepare special menus, based on our tastes, upon request. The spa and tour staff also went out of their way to help us enjoy our stay. Our bike tour ended up with our guide picking fresh rambutans for us (b/c I said I hadn't eaten any at the hotel) and the spa staff gave me a jar of their homemade bath salts just b/c I said I loved it. I would highly recommend this as a luxurious break from the daily grind which is off the beaten path.

Beautiful Boroburbur hotel

I loved this hotel. The location is stunning, nestled in the tropical jungle with views of the Boroburbur temple and volcanoes. The staff are friendly and efficient. The food at both the Patio and Stupor restaurants incredible and reasonably priced. The rooms were spacious and comfortable and the pool area elegant. The only thing I do need to warn travellers is the calls to prayer are pretty loud and start before sunrise. Wear ear plugs if you would like to sleep in. Otherwise one of my favourite hotels in SE Asia and a perfect location to explore the temple.

We wanted to visit Borobudur and decided to stay at the Plataran resort. So glad we did. The staff went out of their way to see to our needs. You get a good view of Borobudur and Mt Merapi from here. In fact on a clear day you get a good view of the sunrise over Borobudur.
The food was very good too.

Beautiful and luxurious resort near Borobudur

Plataran Borobudur is an amazing resort with a helpful and friendly staff. Located within walking distance to Borobudur temple and offering views of the temple and distant mountains from a hillside location. The accommodations are luxurious with traditional rooms and modern bathrooms. The property also boasts many amenities spread over beautiful grounds, and offers many different activities and tours. The restaurant on site offers delicious and beautifully prepared meals, as is the breakfast on offer. Overall, an amazing experience and an amazingly beautiful hotel. Highly recommended.

- From the gate/entrance was told I cant have a booking here and to go onto another hotel up the road.
Had to insist, finally they opened the gate, the driver said leave your bags in the car as he was dubious that we had a booking here.
- Reception had no inkling of our booking and was pretty much put on the back foot that we did not belong there.
- I had to ask for a computer in order to verify my booking as they would of thrown us out of there.
-The pressure of connecting to ones email to prove a booking and once it was proven a welcome drink given while typing on the keyboard to give the information to front desk.
- Already booked a room with a pool, breakfast and dinner.
Was upgraded to the next level room. After a stressful afternoon went to go for a swim in the evening.
The pool malfunctioned that evening. Had staff come out trying to fix but after an hour, I gave up. told the boys its getting too late. Normally would just swim but the pool was dirty full of bugs leaves, twigs also the bottom was very dirty.
- Was given a massage which was good, we doubled what was given and would of spent more just timing issues.
- Food: breakfast was great, afternoon tea very good, Dinner was poor not sure if food was frozen, but quality was not great and food over cooked, very dry.
-Was given lunch and the food was good
After check in staff was great, but the whole time due to the negative start felt uncomfortable, could not relax.
The upgrade room failing.

It is the worst hotel in my life
They demanded to take the shoes off
And inside was almost everywhere excrement off a gigantic lizard that it was hidden inside the roof. It was a nightmare
Also the foods were awful
Is very expensive to pay 450 per night only for a view.I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL

Spacious, clean and quiet

Resort locate in the center of village and plantation. No shop or restaurant around or walking distance the resort. Other than this we like our stay at the resort.
Room is very spacious. We enjoy our time soaking in the private pool, relax at the relax chair. Meditate at the balcony enjoying the fresh air and quietness. Go into the room when start to get hot.
Staff are very friendly.

Beautiful grounds, wonderful staff

This was probably my nicest hotel experience. I do not typically stay in such fancy properties, but we got a good price on a room and we decided to splurge on it while we were visiting the Borobudur temples. Our room, a wooden villa which I think was their most basic room, was perfectly fine. It looked especially beautiful on the outside, and on the inside felt a bit like a fancy tent. What was amazing about the Plataran was the staff and the grounds. From the moment we arrived, the staff was so welcoming and warm and helpful. The hotel property was beautiful and well maintained, with spectacular views, and it was easy to feel we were really on vacation.

The hotel is a bit far from anything else, and dining options are limited. The main restaurant, Patio, is more western-focused, and a bit pricey. Their other restaurant, Stupa, requires a short drive, which the hotel provided. That was Indonesian cuisine, and was our favorite Indonesian meal while we were in the country. The beautiful atmosphere and setting helped, too. There is some major construction happening next to Stupa, but we had dinner there so the work was just wrapping up. Breakfast was included in our room rate, and it was plentiful and delicious. The pastries were surprisingly good and flaky.

At all our meals and other interactions with staff, we were so impressed with how kind and helpful staff were.

Beautiful Tropical Resort near Borobudur

Fantastic stay. Beautiful individual units with Javanese architecture and decorations. The grounds are impeccably maintained and have many types of tropical vegetation and Javanese sculptures. Outstanding service throughout. Besides traveling to nearby sites, there are a lot of activities available at the hotel; e.g., horseback riding, yoga, massage, etc. Food at the two hotel restaurants was excellent. On the expensive side, but great value for money at a 5 star resort! Highly recommend

Paradise in Borobudur

Anyone planning on a visit to the Borobudur Temple (at sunrise is spectacular!) should book a night or two at this hotel. It is so beautiful, the restaurant (Stupa) is outstanding for lunch AND dinner, and you just feel at peace with the surrounding environment. The Exec Suite, standalone villa with private pool, is such a nice relaxing oasis. Fantastic experience!

2 nights near Borobudur Temple

The room we reserved was great - but no view. (the rooms on the other side had a view.) Our private pool was a very nice feature. Attention to detail was missing at a hotel of this price range but the staff was extremely friendly. (trash below pool, bathtub was leaking) The check in staff was the weakest point - did not really review the property or options. I also felt they were not expecting us - even though very few guests were checking in that day. On site spa was nice and priced well. Location was exotic - but do not expect anything within walking distance. We felt very safe in this area - and did stroll through the local village. Hotel arranged a guide for Borobudur Temple - with a good level of knowledge but not a great presentation. The on site food options were limited but good - with very accommodating wait staff.

A gem!

We loved this hotel - we had an exclusive villa which overlooked the temple - the villa was huge and comfortable and the infinity pool and deck area was amazing. The service levels of the hotel were fantastic - the breakfast was lovely as was the afternoon tea, lunch and dinners we had there and all very reasonably priced. We did our tours via the hotel and the tour guides were great. A great choice for visiting Borobudur- we did the sunrise tour and was back by 8.30 to enjoy breakfast and a day by our pool. Perfect!
