Breakfast was a serious concern. Scrambled egg was really bad and it was like a health concern in my view. it was seriously not in eating condition. Overall breakfast was below the average. Also, the entrance of the hotel is not properly marked from the main highway, I'd to take two rounds to find the entrance of the hotel and park. IN the dark, it will be very hard to find. Overall my experience was below the average. Location is good. May be this hotel need better management and far better breakfast menu for the travelors.

I have never left a review but this hotel honestly deserves it. We came to this hotel thinking that it would be a disappointment, as we had just left Tahoe and their room which we thought would be great. It was a real disappointment. To our surprise, the room was really big and the facilities were really kept up. The people who manage really have attention to detail which is highly appreciated by me. Their breakfast was very inclusive and thorough, and their attention to detail definitely followed. I cannot recommend this stay highly enough. If you are going to plan to go to Tahoe, I highly recommend staying in this hotel and driving the one hour to Tahoe afterwards. Their employees were incredibly helpful and even fix an issue with the microwave right away. I have not had service like this in a very long time. Could not recommend this place more and commend them for their amazing work. Thank you for our great stay! Even my child whom usually doesn’t like the hotels we stay at and is opinionated about it, said this was “the best hotel ever.”

This is a nice option in an otherwise remote area. The breakfast station was nice, the lake view was great and the room was spacious and clean. Some of the decor/ amenities in the room were a bit out of date, like not having a USB port in any of the lamps or as an add-on for easy electronic charging. But, there's a gas station next door where I was able to go pick up a cube.

It was a good time but the bathroom fan didn’t work properly and the shampoo and conditioner was not in a place that you could use it in the shower and the lotion was so hard to get out of the tiny little bottle and not enough to use on the entire body none of them enough for 1 person and their were 2 of us! Not worth the price of the room, View was good looking at the Lake staff was accommodating, room was clean,Air conditioner worked.

Room was clean and quiet. Beds were comfortable. The shower/toilet really needs to be updated. The shower is so old and there is zero water pressure and toilets are very old and stained. The rates are high for this area so it'd be nice to have some water pressure and clean toilets. Besides that, it's a great location and we would stay here again.

The woman that checked us in was very nice however the quality of hotel and room was less than expected. The minute we walked in something was off, it was bad enough to bring in blankets and towels from our car to cover the sheets with. As we started to get ready to sleep, there was 2 spiders crawling on the sheets, after that we decided to check out early and make the drive home through the night.

I only have one suggestion of hotel staff… please consider putting a large trash can outside in the gazebo area! We among others enjoyed sitting under it to look at the lake and relax, but in the wind lots of things were blowing around loudly that shouldn’t have been there… mainly about 6 old beer cans.if a trash can is there I think this issue would be less likely 🙂 otherwise it is a cute little spot to appreciate the views!

My husband and I were in for a family function and there wasn’t any room at our families home so we stayed here at Western. It was awesome. They continental breakfast is pretty awesome lot to choose from which makes it nice for all different ages in your family.
We loved our room size. It was really nice and large open clean. I couldn’t ask for anymore. Thank you.

Not up to Best Western Standards. Appeared short-staffed. Not as clean as I expected. Bathroom floor corners didn't appear as cleaned. Front desk individual was also covering very basic breakfast bar. Getting coffee when ran out was a wait...

A true positive was the offering of Almond Milk. That impressed me.

Handicap room, room 102, shower head was calcium encrusted and only a few water streams flowed. I did inform front desk. Shower curtain too short and water spewed all over floor. A safety risk - very wet tile and potentially a wobbly handicapped person exiting shower. I laid down extra towels on floor as didn't want to fall.

This is our sixth time booking a stay at Topaz Lake Inn. The Host offers us the room we like, on the third floor, with a panoramic view of the lake. The room is sparkly clean, the mattress is super comfortable, and the WIFI is extremely quick and reliable. The inn is a great starting point for HWY 108, 4, and Lake Tahoe. It is 2 minutes from a Tesla supercharger and a convenience store.

Great place for an overnight stay.

Check in was easy. Hotel staff was friendly. Room was large and comfortable and clean.
Spa was not working. And in the morning if you wanted to waffle, the guy working, the front counter came and pour your batter for you, which was kind of strange. And he didn’t fill it all the way up so the cooked waffle was spotty. The water they had available for breakfast was warm with lemon that looked like it had been sitting in there for too long, because the water was not clear at all. And did not taste good.

I was cold and hungry

I needed a place at the last minute. I wasn’t going to try the Sonora Pass at night. It was very hard to see my way from 395 to the hotel on private unlit roads on a steep hill. I was checked in without a fuss and the room was fine. There weren’t enough blankets and the room had one of those noisy heat controls that didn’t work well. There was no easy way to get food at night so I got very hungry before the very decent breakfast spread in the morning.

We came from out of state for a wedding. The first Front Desk agent was VERY helpful, going as far as checking the passes for me to insure our safe arrival ahead of the storm.
Our room was on the first floor & had a great view of the lake with seating by the window to enjoy it. Rooms could use a small directory (there was 1 map at the front desk providing directional information) of local business with closing times since it’s such a small town.
Beds were a touch hard for my liking but that’s a preference thing.
Normal continental breakfast…if you’re really hungry head down to the topaz lodge for breakfast & a beautiful view of the lake while you eat.
Overall rating would be 4.5 for price, seclusion, view & breakfast ❤️. Good Job little Best Western

The driveway entrance was Not lit up at all. There was a blind driveway and it was pitch black when we drove in. We drove right by it. Thank God I had the number to the hotel and I called and both desk clerks came outside and guided us via our headlights to the right road to enter in on. They were great BUT they locked the front door and vestibule areas overnight so we could not get a luggage cart at 5 AM when we needed to leave the next morning. That was very disappointing and we were not told about that. That made car loading very difficult and cumbersome the next morning.

First off, we stayed in 5 hotels this week and even though all of them weren't perfect, this one was unacceptable!!! The room was extremely smelly of wet dog. We found hair on the toilet and hair in our bed. Expedia said it was dog friendly and we didn't see an extra fee but when we got there, we were charged extra and was told if we had a pet and didn't pay, we would be charged $100 extra. My family didn't feel safe at all!!! Someone was smoking pot in a nearby room. Construction workers working behind the building working on the power lines were staying there and made us feel very uncomfortable and were listening to filthy inappropriate music that my kids could hear. No place to turn a small trailer around in the parking lot. Owner of property was a creeper and wouldn't stop looking at my wife both days. The entire building inside felt like we were in a prison and was dismal and drab. The outside fire door kept slamming till late at night and we couldn't sleep till all the customers staying there went to bed. All and all, it was a total nightmare and to make it worse, we couldn't find another hotel since this was non refundable. What a complete joke... I work in construction and I would recommend gutting the whole place and remodeling it and find new owners or teach them to be more professional. The only good thing I can say is the lady in the morning was very pleasant and very professional but was an employee and not one of the owners.

BUYER BEWARE: My flight got cancelled but staff did not care and was unwilling to refund our night stay for two rooms. They received their money and blamed it on Expedia for the lack of refund. Expedia stated it was up to property to decide on refund. Will likely not use Expedia again nor Best Western.
