The staff were excellent, attentive, and friendly. We were staying out of season so the restaurant was closed. The hôtel is in a great location in a beautiful little town. You do need a car to get around to other places. I will be staying here again

very small place in a very small town. but did the job for the price. there is a bar/tapas by lobby from 7:30-midnight i believe. stopped for a total of 14 hours here to sleep and get some espresso in the morning.

Avoiding this hotel is recommended

The check in was fine and we proceeded to park in the secure garage for €5 A night due to having bicycles on our car. But then we went for dinner in the hotels restaurant to fund the worst customer service in the world I have ever experienced. (And I travel a lot) after making this aware to the hotel manager she chose to argue with me back at our diner table in front of the entire restaurant customers.
Following this, we were presented a bill for loads more than we ordered.
It didn't end there.... our room was noisy, not cleaned at all in the bathroom (see pictures) and beds where very uncomfortable and seemed old and tatty. Bad but Honest review....

Nice hotel, friendly staff!

We stayed at the hotel for less than 12 hours as we reached around midnight and had to leave early in the morning. But I can confidently say that the folks here are great as the person in the reception was pretty warm & welcoming even at midnight and took hardly anytime time to check in. She also answered are queries patiently with a nice smile.
The room was nice and clean.

Within easy walking distance of the shops in town and close to some of the key tourist attractions in Villedieu les Poeles.
Hotel staff very helpful and assisted in booking a table in their restaurant on the night of our arrival.
Their restaurant, L'Atelier, was very pleasing and the meal was excellent, however it was somewhat marred by the presence of several flies around the table (we ate indoors), which we had to keep swatting away from our food. I suppose in hot July weather this is something with which one has to contend, but it did dampen our enthusiasm for the meal which we ate more quickly than normal.

Useful stopover on journey to Channel Crossing

Staff were helpful and supportive. Bathroom / shower space very cramped.
Unfortunate lack of parking facilities on that particular evening.
Hotel is centrally situated.
Bedroom furnishings somewhat outdated but comfortable enough. Breakfast unexciting with major delays.

More motel than hotel

Almost a complete lack of interest in their guests lead me to eat elsewhere. The breakfast offer summed it all up with a standard mix of products but of low quality with a help yourself coffee maker and not a member of staff in sight to \"meet 'n greet\".

We were there on a Monday afternoon and evening. Most of the local shops were closed. We had a great dinner in the hotel restaurant. We speak no French and had no problem communicating. A potential jewel, if polished...

Hotel is in a quaint village, not far from town square. Classic Normandy. We found hotel easily and staff was accommodating/friendly. Unfortunately our room wasn't up to those standards. It smelled old, mattresses where past their useful life. The bathroom facilities were below the standard of the price we paid, the toilet room's carpeted floor totally grossed my wife out! As we were checking out, we found though that other similar rooms had been remodeled and looked/smelled cleaner. We recommend that you ask for one of these refurbished rooms. Breakfast was extra but worth it!

Typical French village experience

Good location, close enough to the Mont St Michel whilst keeping decent price. A little bit old fashioned rooms (even though it give this overall feeling of experimenting a proper french village experience) but very comfy beds. Quiet hotel, nice staff. Only inconvenient is that the hotel restaurant closes quite early (~9.30pm) even on Saturdays night (but there are plenty restaurants around at 2 minutes walk). Villedieu-les-Poeles is lovely so I would go back again and I would recommend as well.

An unexpected delight

We arrived late at night and despite the late hour they were waiting for us. This ended up being one of our favorite hotels during our trip to France. It was an unexpected delight and much better than the pictures would indicate. We were in the area on our way to Mount Saint Michel and it was the perfect distance to get out of Paris and only leave an easy drive the next morning.

MY FIRST REVIEW AFTER 7 YEARS OF USING EXPEDIA

My room did not look like the posted photos. The mattress was slightly caved in at the center, every move I made the bed squeaked. The door hinges required lubrication.

I pointed to the photo the hotel had displayed at the front desk, (white linen with bright green graphic wall as seen in Expedia) and told the Madame working there that my room does not look like that. Madame front desk said to me that the hotel has three prices for their rooms, and the price I am paying obviously would not be the room in the photo, besides she said she has no control on what Expedia does on their website and the kind of information they post.

At 5:30AM, I was woken up by a very loud consistence noise and I went down stairs thinking it was the hotel alarm only to discover later from the same madame front desk that it was the sound of the hotel heater. The noise was so loud in my room that I stayed in the coffee shop until I checked out.

This hotel is in the center of town with parking across the road. It has one coffee shop and one restaurant on location. The restaurant serves good food, price ranging from 25 to 60 Euros but it is not gastronomic as the hotel advertised in the local tour guide book. Breakfast is 9 Euros. The staff at both eatery are friendly and helpful.

Everything you need for a stop over.

There is not much around the area so it was very useful that the hotel had it's own bar and restaurant. Served basic meals at standard prices. Used as a stop over on the way to Paris. Hotel and room were clean, staff were friendly, had all the simple amenities although beds were a little aged. Even though at the height of the tourist season in July not much is open on Sundays or weekend evenings in the village hence the restaurant/bar were useful. Car park is located right outside. Metered except for during the night-time.

Staff were very friendly and helpful.
The room was split into two floors. The lower tier was a living room with seating, a bathroom and separate toilet. The upper floor consisting of a double bed, drawers, a mounted flat screen TV and two single beds. Not much privacy, but comfortable nonetheless.

Hotel le Fruitier - reasonable but nothing special

Villedieu-les-Poeles is an endearing little backwater to stop over in for a night. Stayed in a \"superior\" room at Le Fruitier - recently decorated and in good condition, although perhaps not everyone would like the style. Well soundproofed and shutters on the windows, but no aircon so would get stuffy in the summer - the hotel looks out towards a main road, although it isn't particularly busy at night. There was noisy refurbishment work going on in the square outside during the day, although this looked as if it ought to be finished by the end of the year. Plenty of parking on square outside hotel. Unfortunately rather let down by somewhat indifferent service - rather unhelpful reception staff and not a very warm welcome - they just handed us the key and pointed towards the lift - and not desperately interested in sorting out minor problem with WiFi.

I stayed on the first floor with my son in a very clean and recently renovated room and I have to say that we were looked after very well by the staff. The reception were always very polite and friendly. We were part of a wedding party and they made provisions for us to get back in the hotel after the staff had left for the night, they also looked after my sister and her now husband who stayed in the apartments in the secondary building.
I plan to come back to Villidieu les Poeles and I will definitely be staying here again. Many thanks to you all for such a lovely weekend.

Le style des chambres est unique et réfléchie mais dommage que leur rafraichissement n'est pas allé jusqu'au bout : la chambre est très bien amis la salle de bain est restée dans son jus des années 80-90, c'est dommage. le potentiel est bien là.

Op weg naar de Mont St Michel, hebben we 1 nacht verbleven in dit hotel. Het ligt midden in het centrum van Villedieu, een historisch stadje met mooie gebouwen en natuur. We hebben een aangename avondwandeling gemaakt. Het hotel is goed. Vriendelijk personeel, ruime en nette kamer, lekker maar eenvoudig ontbijt, veel parking in de buurt, niet ver van de Mont St Michel... Een aanrader.

Service honteux et tarif élevé des chambres

Service déplorable.
Ne prenez pas de chambre 'privilège' car cela correspond seulement à une chambre rénovée...qui fait 10 metres carrés! Avec une mini SDD avec toilettes même pas séparés.
Par ailleurs, nous étions nombreux à réserver et il y a eu des couacs de réservation, nous avons réservé plus de chambre que de besoin et ils n ont pas voulu nous faire d annulation, ni même nous offrir les PDJ. Alors même que nous avions réserver un buffet le lendemain pour 40 personnes le lendemain ! Au cours de ce repas : encore un service déplorable, obligé de réclamer de l'eau sur les tables, la patrone a très mal parlé à l'un de nos convives qui coupait le rôti \"comme un pied\"!
Bref une honte

Le fruitier a Villedieu: une valeur sûre

C’est notre 3ème séjour dans cet hôtel que nous choisissons comme point d’attache pour aller sur le Mont. Les chambres sont petites et très confortable. Le petit déjeuner n’est pas très varié mais les produits proposés sont de qualité. Le stationnement est facile sauf en cas d’affluence.
