Property is clean in rooms but otherwise needing a complete renovation. I was really disappointed because i stay at Ginger on business trips. I use my room as my office and sometimes have people come to discuss and review business plans. That has never been a problem at Ginger until this trip, now this trip they were doing like so many bbsr hotels and harassing my guest and asking for i.d. proof. This is ridiculous during normal daytime. If they need to restrict access after hours i can understand this (usually, if your property is maintained well enough, destructive guest arent a problem) but we are talk from 8:00 a.m to 7:00 p.m. I wont be staying there again as long as this stays same

I expected better from a hotel owned by the Tata group or using the TATA brand. This was perhaps the worst hotel I have seen. The bedsheets were dirty with stain marks.
The room was in a dilapidated condition. Very cramped.

Have stayed here several times. Staff always friendly and efficient. The breakfast buffet is very copious with lots of choices. Convenient to Natural History Museum.

When we reached it took one hour to check in. They said they did not have confirmation. Expedia's message had not been received by them. Couldn't get in touch with Expedia and the hotel had to be requested to check with their travel partners.
My 81 year old mother also kept waiting as it took one hour to finally get the room.
Restaurant was boring.

The property is under renovation, and does not look like the picture shown. It now has a completely black paint, and has bamboo scaffolding and construction noise. The rooms are designed more for the budget domestic (Indian) traveler, and not for the expatriate or foreign traveler.
The tiny desk had a plastic pull out seat like whats used in events. The 3rd bed we requested and paid for, had a dirty, torn mattress dumped in a corner. On complaining, they brought in a roll on trolley bed, but that did not work, so no use.
The rates they have on Expedia, are DEFINITELY NOT worth it.
The staff is courteous, and the restaurant has a good breakfast and meal options, but the stay was sub-par. They would not allow us to cancel and rebook on another site, and adjacent hotels such as Sosti were MUCH better, and coming at the same price.

Inspite of power failure due to Cyclone Falin, the hotel management kept the DG sets continuously running for the 3 full days we stayed there. We had a very comfortable stay there inspite of the natural calamity and devastation outside

Basic property with basic amenities. Hotel does not provide rollaway bed.
I booked hotel for three guests and requested extra bed, they provided a thin mattress on the floor. I was surprised with that and asked again for rollaway and staff told me hotel does have them.

Next morning I saw a rollaway bed in another room so went to reception and asked for it, again was told that hotel does not have rollaway bed so I told them I just saw one in one of the rooms which they denied at first. On my persistence they agreed to check the other room an then provided me with the rollaway bed on my 2nd night in the hotel.
I do not understand why they lied about it, I made booking for and paid for 3 guests so what was the issue.

I booked 4 rooms in 2 separate reservations, for the same dates. 1 reservation - 3 rooms. Other reservation - 1 room. Some how the reservation was there only for 3 rooms and i got my room keys only at 8:30 p.m....

Ginger does not seem to be Tata Product

Bed sheets and covers are unclean and reused. I got a readymade Tea which was cold . Night at 4.40 AM security opened my room , fortunately inside latch was in place . On inquiring He told me that He was testing the card. This means any card can open any room . Lift does not work with room card even if hardware in place . Cleaning all over is shabby

There was rush because of AICOG Doctors event and Restaurant was not managed well. Dinner Buffet was not fresh. Room was overpriced may be because of demand.

The room size is a disaster. I paid Rs 5000 for one night and the room was so small that we barely move around. The flooring and furnishing looked more like a hospital cabin than a hotel room. Never going to opt for Ginger hotel again.

Good hotel with great staff

Ginger BBSR is noteworthy mainly because of its professional staff who make staying at the hotel safe and enjoyable. The travel desk is very helpful. Rooms as such are comfortable and however may be improved further.

Very Poor Hotel...in my 2 days of stay, could not able to get connected to Internet.Food quality very average. No indian breads, dessert were ready till our food got finished, when opted for Buffet Dinner @ Hotel.Room AC too was not cooling...Will never recommend to anyone.

Beware of your booking.

i am a frequent guest to ginger Bhubaneswar. but this time i did'nt get my complimentary break fast . They said your booking was without break fast and they charged @Rs.190/head .This is my first experience without complimentary break fast at Ginger Bhubaneswar .My suggestion is please confirm for complimentary break fast prior to your booking though you are a frequent guest other wise you may got cheated for Rs.190/

Basic, clean, but nothing to relax in or enjoy.

The hotel is very basic. Has nothing to entice or invite one to stay and hang out. It is the kind of place where you only sleep. If you happen to have a few extra hours to kill, it is not a place you want to hang out. There is nothing to do, nowhere to sit. The restaurant is OK, simple, solid Indian food. The hotel is clean, but very cold, no atmosphere. I would not recommend staying there unless you plan to be out from the minute you get up till you go to bed.

What happened to Ginger's standards

I stayed in a couple of Ginger hotels several years ago and was quite impressed. I don't know what happened to their standards because this place is very disappointing.
The room was dirty and had not been cleaned well in a very long time. The room was not well maintained at all. Furniture, refrigerator, etc well past their prime.
This place is equal to a low budget backpacker place, but is charging mid-range prices.
Definetely not recommended

I had heard a lot of Ginger brand and syated the 1st time. Somewhat of a disappointment. Yes no frills is fine but then the quality of no frills cannot be compromised. Efficient and attentive staff but the quality of the room condition, bathroom etc leaves much to be desired. The cost through Hotels.com is poor value for money. I had to stay the 2nd nigh and opted out and stayed at Hotel VITS- such a pleasure at a lower cost, better rooms, free breakfast spread. To have this from house of TATA's is a disappointment to say the least. Unlikely to try Ginger again. Service no doubt acceptable

False advertising

Unfortunately, the photos on the hotel website did not represent the truth. The hotel is in need of an update and makeover. Some walls were recently painted, but they did not bother to remove artwork on the walls, rather paint is slopped around the edges of the art. I would not stay here again.
