Called over to island for a telecoms fault , due to time i had missed last ferry , looked on hotels.com and only property available was Auchrannie at £310 per night
With no choice i booked it but i fail to see where the £310 price tag comes from , the bath did not hold water and the tv did not work , will not be recommending it to others

We stayed in a ground floor room in the main resort and had a person in the room above constantly walking around for over an hour in the evening and the morning from 7am. The floorboards in the resort are very creeky and there appears to be no sound proofing between them. I wore headphones and is still sounded like there was a thunderstorm going on.

The hotel was great. Lots to do for the children, beautiful location and surroundings. The staff were all warm and friendly. But the room above us was exceptionally noisy; we complained on our first night but the noise didn’t stop. If the bedroom had been quieter it would have been perfect!

Few Amenities, Too Many Fees

I stayed at the resort for one night. Everyone should know that the advertising is not accurate. There is no hot tub in the spa and there are no additional amenities such as ropes and shower shoes. It’s quite slippery so be careful! Also for some strange reason, you’re charged a pound to use the locker which feels ridiculous after paying so much money for a room and so few amenities at a spa. In the room, there’s no bottled water. There’s also no store on the properties. I bought a bottle of water at the restaurant and it was 7 pounds. Nearly the cost of a cheap bottle of wine! Resorts in this price range are usually more inclusive of basic needs. If you have children that need space to run around this is a good place but if you’re an adult looking to have a luxurious stay, this is not the place.

Overall, it was a good stay. It's in a lovely area of the island, with some beautiful views. The staff were all friendly and courteous. I don't know how else to describe it other than it does feel like a 4-star resort when you're walking around it, etc.

The restaurant food is good, but not amazing. There is a weirdly limited menu, and some of the items on some dishes don't quite go.

The breakfast is good, but the potato scones are far too rubbery (3 days in a row)

It's expensive for what you're getting in reality. The rooms are clean, but basic. The shower we had didn't extend, I feel this is a basic thing to add - especially for people with limited mobility - instead of just having an overhead. The bath was also rather narrow, and the ceilings were low, so I wouldn't like to be 6ft+ standing in the narrow bath.

The bedroom doors need to be further soundproofed. If you stay on the 1st floor of the spa resort, you'll be able to hear everyone very clearly walking past and opening corridor doors. It's quite annoying, truthfully. Also, you can hear everyone's footsteps very clearly above you.

For £200+ per night, I'd expect some discounts or something else included in my stay; you pay for absolutely everything else. I am not quite sure why the spa couldn't be discounted at least 10% on some treatments, or soft drinks are cheaper, etc. It would feel like you're getting some of the 'VIP' treatment compared to day visitors, especially for the price per night.

We stayed at the Auchrannie resort for 3 nights. Staff are very friendly, proactive and helpful. The hairdryer broke and we had a new one delivered within 5 minutes. Our children made excellent use of the pool and breakfast was well stocked and delicious. The room was really hot but there was a fan which we plugged in and that sorted that problem. Would def recommend.

We enjoyed our stay a lot, especially as the weather on the island was poor for 4 of our 5 day stay.

Our bedroom was spacious and the bed was very comfy. We would have preferred a larger window, especially as the view was lovely, and the room temperature was quite warm at times.

To improve, it would be nice to have more luxurious toilet roll and paper towels, as these were thin and felt cheap. Also, consider the positioning of the pickleball courts, as the ball has a long way to travel to the wall, and provide a pickleball net.

All the staff were courteous, professional and hard working. We would love to return!

It was great having access to the pool and a comfy lounge.

As a whole, the hotel was clean, mostly updated, had nice amenities, and very friendly helpful staff. The onsite restaurant accommodated our last minute reservation and the food and wine was fantastic. Spa was lovely (no hot tub though). The only real drawback was that our room was up MANY flights of very narrow stairs. We had 3 large military bags and 2 carry-ons so navigating this was difficult. Would have loved an elevator!

A really good hotel that had great facilities. Two restaurants with excellent choices. Two indoor pools - one just for hotel guests (the other for guests in the lodges). Several comfy rooms for chilling. Lovely grounds for walks and close enough to walk to Brodick. Everywhere is decorated to a very high standard. The staff are a mix of local and world wide - all very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The whole hotel is dog friendly. Highly recommend

We liked Cruise for dinner, we never sat at the restaurant area, instead we opted for the comfortable couches at the other end. We always stay in the Old House part of the resort as we love the sitting room with the open fire plus the dimly lit sitting room, which is so incredibly relaxing. For us, what really ruined our stay was the amount of kids in the pool in the Old House. There is another pool area in the new building, which we felt should be where families go if the have kids. Instead, there were families with kids at the pool in the old house, and it totally ruined the tranquility of what is supposed to be a Spa Experience. We came for the purpose of relaxation, and the pool area is a big part of that, so it was disappointing that the resort doesnt have an Asukts Only Pool and Spa area - they do have the pool in the Old House as Adults Only from 8pm till 9pm, but 1 hour simply doesnt cut it, in fact no where near good enough. So this is why we have given an overall score of 3 stars.

We had an excellent 6 day stay in the spa resort hotel. The service was impressive, nothing was too much bother and all staff were consistently helpful, kind and keen to deliver to whatever was needed. The breakfast buffet was best I've ever had . Smoked salmon and haddock with poached eggs no extra charge. Cruize restaurant all geared up for families and Brambles restaurant evening service was superb. We went 3 times . Definitely recommend this resort, you pay a bit more for sure but the quality is top notch.

Excellent trip. Room was very well kept and clean, facilities are excellent (especially the spa) and great location (even if you're not driving, very easy to get to with use of the free shuttle service.

Only small negative I would say is that the evening menu in Cruize (one of the three restaurants in the spa resort section of the hotel) was fairly average; not bad by any means but not great either, though the breakfast and lunch was very good. However, Brambles is an excellent restaurant and we had two brilliant dinners there.

I came here for a getaway after finishing my thesis, to let my hair down, chill out, enjoy a beautiful part of the world and to walk my legs off and eat loads of meat. I achieved all those things. The retreat lodge was a complete stunner, and the surrounding environment was quiet and beautiful such that I slept and rested very very very well. The hot tub out back was a good laugh and even in the wind and rain the lodge was very cozy. The restaurants on site were great with very good service.
Wifi in the lodge worked flawlessly the whole time and was a good speed - good enough for videocalls with my family certainly.

The resort is convenient for lots of great wandering, such as the walk up Goatfell.

I was left wanting to come back. Will definitely be returning.

Really couldn't fault, was away with Dad for two nights. Stayed in the red sandstone building and ate in Cruise. Preferred the pool facilities in the red building.

Staff were super attentive and didn't see anytime ran down or in need of repair.

The pool especially was very clean and steam rooms smelt pleasant etc.

Was without a doubt the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in. The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful. Me and my girlfriend were enjoying the balcony after dinner just enjoying the view. When one of the waitresses came out and asked if we wanted her to take a picture of us. We had wanted to ask, but didnt want to bother anyone. We absolutely loved Auchrannie. Both pools, steam ream and saunas were just so lovely. Bedrooms are a lovely size (we went for a deluxe) and room service was a nice treat. Brilliant service all round from friendly staff. It's a real credit to the Isle of Arran.

Standard Auchrannie house hotel room.

Room was reasonably spacious for standard room with two comfy chairs. Spotlessly clean. Downside was it was extremely warm in the room. No heater on and no obvious underfloor heating. It was pretty cold outside but we had to open two windows to sleep. Possibly as room was next to swimming pool. The shower room was lovely and modern but it took a few tries to work out the different shower taps as there were no instructions. No paperwork in room (probably re Covid) so info had to be obtained via the resort’s App or by phoning reception. We had a beautiful meal in the hotel restaurant Brambles and enjoyed a drink in the Spa hotel restaurant Cruize.

Second time I have been lucky enough to stay at the fabulous Auchrannie Resort. I always feel so relaxed when I'm there. We stayed in a retreat this time, which reminded us of a Scandinavian wooden lodge. It had a fabulous wood fired hot tub with beautiful mountain views. Small kitchen, but adequate for basic cooking. No where inside to sit and eat, so ate on our laps on the sofa, which wasn't ideal, but certainly not enough to affect the stay. Expensive, but worth it!

Our stay was mostly as expected from an expensive £250 room only per night hotel. With there being 2 hotels on the site, 2 pools and 3 restaurants all a little walk from each other , it matters if by chance its raining! The room was very big and comfy though with a small window only at one end, it was dark and walking on above floor was clearly audible.
