Very worn out hotel, specially in the rooms. It is not a 5 star hotel. Period! There are goods things - the staff is very welcoming and the breakfast is very good. But it needs an urgent and overall facelift.
Adequate only for a stopover with no luxuries intended or if you are a casino freak. It has the only one of the island. I did not go.

I liked Pestana Sao Tomé. Very friendly staff and the location is very good. I appreciated being upgraded to a junior suite. The bedroom is adequate even though just a little small. Good Wi-Fi connection! I would go back to Pestana Sao Tomé.

Really nice staff and great sea views

I changed hotels, coming from Omali Lodge, where the internet didn't work at all in my room and they could not solve the problem, so I went to check the Pestana out. I usually do not like Pestana hotels, but this one was better than I expected. The staff was absolutely lovely and helpful since the first minute in the check in, and throughout my stay. They went with me to the room available before finalizing the check in, to confirm the internet worked from the room. If the wifi didn't work, they also offered the cable internet, which I didn't need. The wifi worked 100% of the time, with decent speed. The view from my room was spectacular and I believe at least most rooms with even numbers in the 1st and 2nd floor have similarly nice view. The room is simple but well taken care off, with decent linen and decor. There is only water in the minibar, and there is no coffee/tea making facilities. The bathroom is also very simple, but the shower works very well with water heating up pretty fast. The area outside the restaurant and bar downstairs, next to the swimming pool, is really nice and relaxing.

Dated but Doable!

I stayed here to make travel between Pestano Ecuador and Pestano São Tomé easier which it did. The shuttle bus transports guests and staff between the two locations to catch the boat to Pestano Ecuador.

When I first arrived to Pestano São Tomé staff was friendly, checkin was easy despite limited English speakers. However, when I went to my room I was on the ground floor and the terrace door would not lock. This was 10pm and I am a solo traveler... unacceptable. The staff sent maintenance and the door was fixed but this had me a bit on edge that night. The hotel feels a bit dated. Definitely not a 4* Overall but has a 4* Pool. Needs some updating to the decor.

Nice hotel on the water and centrally located

If you're there for business or to see the \"downtown\" then this hotel is centrally located. Only five minute drive to many places in the downtown. It's on the beach and is scenic. Food is alright but dinner buffets are over priced. However, I did not get food poisoning, so that is a plus. Wifi is OK but mainly in the lounge and eating area. Less reliable in the rooms.

Excellent hotel close to Sao Tome town

There were minor problems in the room we were assigned. Guest Relations Manager kindly switched us to a better room after the first night. Good breakfast, excellent service, quiet beach, lovely swimming pool, and good location within walking distance of a few local restaurants.

On the plus side, this is one of the better hotels in Sao Tome, on a relative basis. Pool and grounds are decent and well-maintained.

On the not-so-good side, front desk staff were relatively unhelpful and unnecessarily confrontational in some instances, restaurant food is overpriced for what it is. Beautiful abandoned fort on one corner of the grounds. I needed a 3 pin charger to charge my computer (vs. the 2 pins in all the rooms) - staff were completely unhelpful in helping me get one for the entire duration of the stay. Its listed as a 5 star hotel but really is more of a 3.5 star facility.

Decent enough, not sure there is anything better

Hotel was decent enough, but nothing great. I would look for another place if we return, although I am not sure that there is anyplace better. We primarily went for scuba diving, and we would recommend Paulo in the on-site dive shop. My biggest complaint is that the onsite restaurants were very expensive, and my wife, as a vegan, found it quite challenging (can't have soup and pasta for every meal). Also, the hotel wouldn't change my $100 USD note because it was the \"older\" version. We had to re-key our room cards each day, and there were no safes in the room.

I enjoyed my stay in Sao Tome, but not really because of the hotel. This hotel is a 3-star at best. Food taste, quality and range was subpar and very few staff spoke English, making it hard to communicate.

okay but no bargain

The hotel staff were very accommodating but my air conditioner didnt work and the room was like a furnace. It was hotter in my room than in the hallway outside my room. The breakfast buffet was fair, probably below what a 4 star hotel is supposed to offer. I suppose I would marginally recommend the hotel.

I usually don't complain too much about hotels but for being a supposed 5 star hotel, the staff spoke very little English which is fine except that the hotel says they have English speaking staff. The staff also never seemed to be too concerned about much. One waiter, who was looking the opposite direction he was walking ran into me as I was stationary spilling two plates of food and I swear he looked like he wanted my neck. I spent $35 in phone calls trying to arrange my airport pickup which never materialized in the end. The facility itself was fine, a bit small for the outdoor activities, I would have chosen to stay at the Pestana Equator instead.

Opphold på dette hotellet krever kontanter. Hotellet har en minibank hvor man ta ut penger med Visa, men usikker om dette gjelder kun Sao Tomeisk Visa. Mastercard var uansett umulig å bruke på denne øya på de som reklamerte at de aksepterte dette, på grunn av våre totalt 5 ulike MC var det \"feil\" med. Selve hotellet var relativt slitent med oppussingsbehov. Selv reklamerer hotellet seg som et 5-stjerners hotell, mens det i virkeligheten er et 3-stjerners hotell. Kun prisen som var 5-stjerners (med andre ord altfor dyrt her). Ok mat, men ikke i nærheten av å ha et 5-stjerners kjøkken. Serviceinnstilte medarbeidere, men altfor mange hadde manglende engelsk kunnskaper. Godt aircondition både på rommet og i fellesområder. Vi bestilte Junior Suite, men dette var bare et vanlig rom med en ekstra gang der det var en liten sofa. Helt greie fasiliteter, men som sagt er det behov for oppussing av hotellet. Alt i alt en skuffende opplevelse på et selverklært 5-stjerners hotell som ikke en gang tar Mastercard!

Atendimento confuso. Foi agendado transfer do aeroporto, mas o hotel se confundiu com os voos e não nos buscou até que um funcionário do aeroporto conseguiu falar com eles. Serviço de bar também confuso, mas o hotel tem boa estrutura e é muito central.

Not a five star hotel!

- No sand beach - only rocks - but yes, a pool.
- Renovation is needed.
- Very expensive.
- ‘Junior suite’ is a joke - an extra small room with a sofa - no window.
- Nobody speak (or understand) simple English.
- We booked ‘with view over the sea’. Ha - behind all the palm trees!!
- Sunny and warm climate - that’s why we came for (good for the extremely poor Sao Tome people).

Nice hotel, but not 5 ***** worthy

The hotel has a nice pool. Rooms are big and clean. The food in the hotel is too expensive. Outside the hotel you'll find several restaurants that are much better and cheaper. The staff is very friendly. I would give them 4 ****.

Wir waren 15 Tage im Pestana und waren rundum zufrieden. Das der nächste Badestrand 4 km entfernt ist, weis man vorher und easy mit dem Taxi, oder Sammeltaxi zu erreichen. Ausgezeichneter Standard für Singles, Paare und Familien.
