Incredible 10 day stay at Kuramathi - with our 3 year old daughter!

Highlights:
We chose Kuramathi partly because of the kids club, which was even better than expected. It's much bigger than the website photos suggest, with two splash pads and a pool with slide, a garden, and lovely indoor play area. Our daughter loved it so much and kept requesting to go back. The staff are fun, caring and engaging. Huge thanks to Konnie, Rashma, Rachelle and Sara for making Wren feel so happy and secure.

We were full board and ate at the buffet restaurants, rather than a la carte. The food was exceptional, better than any other buffet we have eaten at. The breakfast almond croissants deserve a special mention!

The house reef is huge, wrapping three quarters of the island. While some parts have suffered slightly bleaching, there are numerous healthy varieties of coral. The fish life is incredible, and there is a huge population of black tip reef sharks. Access is easy from the beach or jetty - even our toddler could do it. Watching the black tips hunting fish from the jetty was such a highlight.

Rasdhoo Dive Centre was excellent - we did a refresher dive on the reef, Wata was an excellent guide. We also did the Madivaru Dive, famous for white tip reef sharks, which was stunning.

The excursions are excellent, well worth the money. We swam with manta rays on two separate snorkelling boat trips, which was an unforgettable experience.

Overall I think island is good comfortable bed and pool villa looks great but there are lots of small area needs to improve.

Lots of mosquitoes I dont think the spray around. Plugs not working they still ate us alive tho.
Welcoming was poor service not as you seen youtube.
Honeymoon invitation was great but music was aweful with it.
Tv sound is terrible.
Buggy car has not timetable sometimes nothing sometimes a lot.

Eco center shark program is great but other is ripp you off a bit ! They dont care if you are disappointed because they are fully booked Safitey said.

We wont come back this island. For 20.000$ we would expect outstanding service. Only spa Cathy and Myo did wao service from begening to the end.

Kuramathi is a beautiful luxury resort. The beaches are long and uncrowded with swimming on one side if the island and reef snorkeling on the other. We had a Water Villa with pool...a large, clean modern space with a lovely bedroom and a huge bathroom overlooking our private deck and infinity pool. Pure luxury. Great choices in the buffet restaurant. Now for the disappointing part: The human element is completely missing here. No smiles or greetings from the staff, no sense of the hospitality and warmth we experienced on the Local islands. Kuramathi is a beautiful manufactured experience with no soul.

After a horrific speed boat transfer from Malé to Kuramathi in storm conditions and rough seas in a small boat the rest of the visit was wonderful. We had a water villa with a pool which was sparkling clean. We were AI and the buffet meals were so delicious we never even tried any a la carte dining. Scuba and snorkeling was magnificent the diving center professional were so very kind and aquatic team for snorkeling made sure we saw plenty of turtles on our snorkel trip. Staff were so accommodating and friendly, we felt completely at ease. Thank you Kuramathi for a memorable trip.

Me and my wife came on our honeymoon to Kurumathi, and it's one of the best decisions we've ever made. All the staff were excellent and very friendly. I would like to give a special mention to Thorgi, who serviced our room and 2 kitchen staff at Farivalhu restaurant (unfortunately i didn't make a note of their names). The resort's beautiful and exceeded our expectations, especially with providing snorkelling equipment as part of the all inclusive package. I would highly recommend the Thundi Water Villa with pool as the features that the room provided and it's price are unmatched by other resorts

The resort was nice, but honestly, we expected more. We stayed at Over the Ocean water villa, from where the view was amazing. But … the porch was not maintained well and part of the wood/thorn entered in my foot for which I needed to go to the hospital (to be fair they didn't make me pay the bill). Also, even though the view is amazing, The water near the water villas is dirty and full of soap, so you can't really enjoy it or enter directly (if not at 6 am). There was a big reef for snorkelling but the paths were not maintained well and almost every time you needed to step on a coral to arrive in the deep.
Another thing that we really didn't like is that in our all-inclusive package, it was written that everything in the minibar is included, but when we arrived there only soft drinks were free in the minibar and there is a crazy system that they didn't replenish automatically the minimar but you have to order the drinks every time. Snacks are also not included in the all-inclusive package.
On the other hand, the island is big and you have a lot to do even if it's raining. The stuff is amazing, the food was good and the excursions are amazing and must-see!

My wife and I had a great time at Kuramathi, we all had an unforgettable experience esp given it was to one of our first resorts. There was a lot to do which we didnt do, lol. We had enough time to walk around, go at the beach, go at the pools and have juices and food on the fly. That was enough to keep us occupied during the day and the jacuzzi in the room was enough to keep us occupied during the night after a long day of activities. Definitely would recommend.

The over water villa was amazing in terms of view, condition and size. Other than that the rest of the aspects were quite disappointing! Staff is not friendly and a but ignorant to requests/complaints. Food is not bad below the standard compared to other Maldives resorts. Spa experience was totally a waste of money. We went for our honeymoon and resort failed to create or provide anything special for us as honeymooners.

The resort is beautiful overall. I liked the sand bar. It is an awesome location to snorkel. My sons loved the soccer field and played there at 4-6 pm everyday that we were there. The staffs were friendly and helpful, especially the buffet dining at Faravalhu buffet and Laguna bar. We had a blast there at Kuramathi. We went diving twice and loved it. The food at the buffet was decent. We tried to book at the Reef restaurant while we were there but it was all booked. That was the only restaurant we wanted to eat at other than the buffet. We had an all inclusive plan.

Absolutely stunning island and very clean and staff is very friendly. Basic all inclusive just gives you access to buffet and bars, so buffet got a little boring and food was average, alcohol was not good and can’t take it in the pool or back to your room or anything. Overall loved our private bungalow and pool but have enjoyed the all inclusive part of other resorts more before

UNBELIEVABLE!!! this place is a dream. the staff is unbelievably kind, accommodating and so so friendly. they helped with any issue we had, big or small.
the facilities are beautiful and clean. it is such a beautiful place. we went for our honeymoon and absolutely loved it. everything was perfect.
there are several activities, some that come with the all inclusive package, but others that are offered for a fee (can be pricey, but very worth it).

Could not have found more accommodating and hospitable hosts. Nothing was too much trouble. There was a wide range of food with genuinely attentive service. The Hawaiian Yellowfin Tuna was the islands signature dish as were the island made ice-creams.

Only down side was the transport from the island which is out of their control. We had to check out at midday and transferred to Male when we had a 1820 flight - check in opened 90 minutes after we arrived at the airport and there are not a lot of AC options to sit and wait.

Overall the experience was amazing, the resort was a 4 star resort. However, based on everything that was provided to us it felt like 10 start resort. The only negative part would be the bed was a king size, but it was actually two smaller beds put together. We stayed in the Water villa with a pool, which I would recommend to anybody for the views and privacy :)

Excellent hotel with the marvelous house reef

The hotel is located not far from Male airport. About 20 minutes by seaplane, then you are taken to the island by boat in 10 minutes. The island is small: 2 km in length (~3 km with the sand bank) and 300 m in width in the east side while just 5-10 m on the sand bank in the west side.

The north side sees into the lagoon and has mostly sand beaches with more or less still water, the south side is an open ocean with the house reef. The reef is fantastic. We spent there 30% of our vacation. You can rent any snorkeling equipment, bring yours or even buy it: there are several shops on the island. There is also a diving center. What's interesting, I did not see sea urchins and jellyfishes.

You can book sea trips to the nearby islands, manta watching, sunset dinner, etc.

We had full board package. I think, you do not need any kind of all-inclusive if you don't drink a lot of alcohol. The meal is delicious and varied and served as a buffet all you can eat. You should buy beverages like water, juices, beer and wine. (We spent about $150 in 10 days for 2 adults.) Water during the breakfasts, tea and coffee are free. I must say, their deserts are masterpieces: I added 2 kg with them.

The prices in the resort are high as I think everywhere in Maldives. But the service is appropriate, the stuff is friendly, the villa is comfortable. You do not need cash, everything is credited to your account and you pay it in the end of vacation.

We will definitely return to the resort some day.

Live in Thunder water pool villa. Good for snorkelling, but need to walk for 10 minutes to the nearest restaurants/buggy stop. Sometimes need to wait for 20 minutes for the resort car.

The view of Long tail beach is good. The buffet in 3 main restaurants are good, esp the soup and the desserts. If you check in before lunch in first day, then the lunch in last day is not included. The selection of drinks in 3 designated restaurants are limited but drinks in other restaurants e.g. Palm are much better with different choices.

Some excursions e.g. Sunset Cruise are booked solid. So make sure you register your excursion asap in the first day.

Mixed up with flight time of our return flight, thus we cannot fly with the last seaplane and we wait for a long time in Male Airport for our flight.

The hotel is pretty, but we paid all inclusive and is not a real all inclusive, you don't have all the beverages includes even a fresh juice!! you don't have alcohol inclusive in the room only in the bar, you don't have inclusive even a beer in the mini bar, neither a peanuts! Also we paid for the sunset trip and last minut it was cancelled and never reschedule. Not worth that I paid.

Paradise in the middle of the Indian Ocean

Like a dream, and now that we have been back in reality those memories will have to last for a while.
Beautiful weather, great jetted water villa (although we didn't use the jacuzzi much) with a private deck that goes directly out to the house reef. Very relaxing.
The island is one of the bigger ones in Maldives and in addition to the water sports activities it also had a lot of greenery and botanical plants with a trail so was a good mix. Snorkeling with the baby white sharks was scary and exciting so a lot of fun! An unforgettable experience!!!

I would say this resort is great for snorkeling! Big island and got many active to join. But never feel crowded. and have a beautiful beach at the end of island. Facility may be start to get slightly dated, But can tell hotel is upgrading it. Nice!
I only have 1 bad experience. I ask for toothbrush & toothpaste on my 3rd day of staying, as Housekeeping didn't refill during my stay. Then when I call and ask them refill. The housekeeper send to my room, but he question me, \"are you just use 1 time and throw away?\". I really upset by his question. I actually need is toothpaste, cos how can 2 small toothpaste tubes last for a week for 2 persons!!??

Kuramathi was post card beautiful but I guess after reading so much reviews, we expected too much. The water villa jacuzzi was nice but not as nice as the water villas we stayed in at Palawan, Philippines. The pools were nice but nothing spectacular. Infinity pool felt more like a bath tub on sand in middle of busy restos and cafe and overlooking the least scenic area of the island. The beach was beautiful and the highlight was the sand bank area which was breathtaking and serious beach lovers frequent this area while those focusing on getting a tan remained on the busy beach stretch on sun beds. Getting to various restos or cafes was a hassle and you need to wait for a buggy or shuttle van. If only they would provide a buggy or even a bicycle for each villa! Food was a mix of so-so and amazing.

Best holiday ever!

While everyone warned me that Maldives can prove to be a boring holiday destination, especially if you stay longer than a couple of nights, we wish our stay was a few days longer. Kuramathi is a larger than most resorts which enables them to provide lots of regular alternative activities to sun bathing and swimming. We stayed 7 nights and tried as much as we could: snorkeling, fishing, parasailing, kayaking, spa .. A few extra days and would have also tried their diving experience. The resort is clean, well equipped and while at times I had to call reception to ask them to have a new shampoo or serviettes, overall their service was very good. There are over 700 staff on the island with almost 300 villas yet everyone who we spoke to remembered our names and vila number.
They also have a unique nightly activity where they feed sharks and sting rays... Quite fascinating and unique.
We haven't been to other Maldivian resorts but this one has not disappointed. It also seemed to be very popular with returning guests..

Amazing spot in Paradise!

The Kuramathi Resort lives up to every photograph on its website. We stayed in a jacuzzi water villa and it was perfect. We went in early October and the weather was perfect. We did \"all inclusive\" and the food was perfect, and it was so very nice not to have to worry about how much we were spending on drinks. The snorkeling in the reef just off our villa was so amazing that we didnt sign up for the snorkeling excursion: exploring \"our\" reef took all the time we had! The included sunset cruise was actually a visit to dolphins playing around the boat.

Comfortable couples resort

We loved how attentive and friendly the staff were at this resort. The place is immaculately maintained and every morning we'd pass groundsmen sweeping the paths so we could walk on clean white sand and they were always courteous and greeted us with good mornings and smiles. The staff in reception and the bars were all very attentive and friendly as well. The food was good and the All Inclusive package really did give us the freedom to eat where ever we wanted and whenever we wanted. We are divers and the dive instructors were great and the dives interesting although the coral is very damaged. We saw similar things snorkelling to diving (large mixed schools of fish and large reef sharks) so we stopped diving mid trip to save money. We did see a hammerhead but only for seconds as it swam past and that was after 2 dives (the second on nitrox). The sharks don't school here or hang around so it's not quite what we imaged but it is an interesting dive spending so long 'in the blue' surrounded but nothing but phospherous in the water. We initially thought the beach bungalows too crowded with there being your outdoor shower across a fence from the next outdoor shower only about a meter away, and having a unit behind you and each side of you and in front of you across the yard, but over our stay we rarely saw other guests and never heard anyone else taking a shower. Its very much a couples resort where guests tend to keep to themselves. The Coffee Shop is excellent as is Island BBQ.

Fantastic trip. Only issue was the rough seas which affected the snorkeling!! But this is not the fault of the hotel. Hopefully we will return but pick a better time for calmer seas!!
Although there was in excess of 1000 people on the island, it seemed very quiet which was nice and peaceful.
Plenty areas for snorkeling, walking, lazing and eating.
The sea plane from the international airport to the island was awesome. I would recommend this transfer rather than a boat. Maybe even take an individual sea plane to tour across all the islands. Something we will do next time.

We are an Asian family with a 3 year old kid. We felt that the focus of the resort was on their European clients. A lot of focus and attention were showered on their European guests while the Asian guests are being neglected and frowned upon.

Amazing vacation in Kuramathi, Maldives

This was the best vacation we had, Kuramathi Island is a beautiful, sea was blue and so clear, wounderful sea life, colorful fishes, beautiful corals. We were snorkeling, saw sharks. Hotel room was clean, comportable, cleaning was done in right time, food was excellent. Thank you for all of this. We dream to come back.

Most Wonderful Holiday Ever!

My recent stay at Kuramathi Island was the most amazing holiday ever!

I have visited a wide variety of beaches and beach resorts and Kuramathi was by far the most beautiful beach I have ever seen.

The whole resort is extremely well cared for with beautiful tropical gardens and paths raked daily. There is hardly a view on the whole island not picture postcard worthy.

The staff at the resort were all very friendly and genuinely asked if we had enjoyed our stay, whether it was our first stay and whether we would return to stay again.

Our room was large, clean and comfortable and was thoroughly cleaned throughout our stay. The food at the restaurant we were allocated to was spectacular also.

There were plenty of activities on offer as well as a well equipped gymnasium. The snorkeling on the island was fantastic too.

I would highly recommend a stay at Kuramathi - you will remember it forever!

Maldives experience

Excellent holiday on a beautiful island. Worth paying for the higher grade accommodation as more space and better locations on the island. Could not access 3G on my Kindle which works well everywhere else.

More local food would be welcome rather than international themed evenings.

Pradise Island- Kuramathi

We were with the family on Kuramathi in the beginning of January. We uppgraded the basic all inclusive to selected all inclusive and it was the best decusion ever. This \" fine\" dining made the holiday.
That we recommend if you are friend of good food.
The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The accomodation ( beach villa) was little worn out but you only slept there for a night, so no problem.

If Paradise exists on Earth - it is called Kuramathi

Best vacations ever- great rooms, service, food. The weather is amazing- warm but not too hot, with a colling breeze from the sea. No moskitoes!!! No natural predators- safe for children. Amazing SPA and diving (including scuba diving conditions). Very well trained staff, smiling and helpful. Doing everything they can for you to have a great vacation!! I would recommend to singles, married, people with children- wonderful water in the sea and in two beautiful swimming pools- great Bageecha- Kid Club!

Value for money on an Island Retreat

We found this hotel very child friendly, save the somewhat late dinner time. The Full Board provided us with a good variety of food for the week we stayed, and the selection of food was also good in the other restaurants.

We experienced lovely views on the Infinity Beach, and the beaches around the Island was very nice for our 3 year old daughter.

Rashdoo Divers runs a very serious and good dive operations on the Island, and their nearby dive sites offers some of the better dives in the region.

The Seaplane transfer to the hotel offered spectacular views of the atolls, islands and thilas.

Die natürliche Umgebung ist traumhaft klares Wasser, schöne Sonnenuntergänge und meist saubere Strände. Allerdings zeigte sich nach Unwettern auch Plastikmüll, was den Eindruck etwas trübte.

Unsere Wasser-Villa war sehr sauber (2× täglich Reinigung) und stilvoll eingerichtet. Leider war das Wasser direkt vor der Villa oft zu flach zum Schnorcheln. Das Bett war für meinen Geschmack zu hart, was den Schlafkomfort beeinträchtigte.

Die Infrastruktur (WLAN, Strom, Ausstattung) war gut. Das Personal war freundlich, aber nicht besonders aufmerksam. Aktivitäten und Ausflüge waren extrem teuer und das Angebot eher mager.

Beim Essen sollte man unbedingt All-Inclusive buchen sonst wird es schnell teuer. Snacks wie Eis außerhalb der Buffetzeiten sind nicht enthalten. Für ein muslimisches Land war der hohe Anteil an Schweinefleisch überraschend, und es gab keine klare Auskunft zur Halal-Zertifizierung.

An- und Abreise verliefen reibungslos. Emotional war der Aufenthalt schön, aber insgesamt stimmt das Preis-Leistungs Verhältnis nicht. Für den hohen Preis hätte ich mehr erwartet sowohl kulinarisch als auch bei den Freizeitmöglichkeiten.

Kuramathi island and structures are awesome and curated and the personnel is very kind and attentive.
Our water villa was exactly as we expected it, except the missing possibility to jump into the see (shallow water even with high tide and no sand but broken coral hurting feet). The room was serviced to perfection every day and the jacuzzi on the deck was definitely a plus.
There are several activities to do, but the variable/bad weather seriously limited us (only 1 scuba dive and semi-submarine).
Food was the only thing we didn't like: the buffet options are all full of onion and garlic, resulting very heavy and tasting similar to each other. Fish and meat were often overcooked. We dined 3 times in à la carte restaurants (Reef, Kobe and Island barbecue) and things were not so much better

Perfect destination and people are so dedicated and hard working. Everywhere you go you are welcomed with a smile. A 9/10 in my opinion with only Two things that need to be better:
1. The cocktails aren’t very nice. I tried many of them but none of them tasted like it supposed to be tasting
2. Transfers are poorly organised and take a lot of time. Upon arrival we had to wait for 2 hours for our water plane and for our return we had to leave the property by boat 7 hours before our flight. This way we pretty much lost a full day of holiday which is not okay with the prices that are being asked for the transfers. Your guests want to spend as much time as possible on the property so I suggest to increase the number of boats/planes going each day to ensure people travel comfortably and don’t have to wait at the small airport for 6 hours

Vi spenderade två magiska veckor i en deluxe water villa med all inclusive, villan var mycket fräsch och städningen sköttes exemplariskt 2 ggr/dag. All personal var mycket serviceinriktad och vänlig, alltid leende Maten i bufférestaurangen var varierad och god. Snorklingen på husrevet var helt fantastisk. lite tunnt utbud i souvenirbutikerna möjligen , Ön är stor för att vara på Malidiverna men det går \"buggys\" med jämna mellanrum så det är bara hoppa på när man vill ta sig någonstans.
