The property is run down. But worse than that, the room we were given was dirty, mold on the floor boards and mildew in the shower. We intended to ask for housekeeping to come and clean it. But after attempting to use the toilet we learnt that there was an issue with flushing. There was no one on site to fix the issue so we were moved to another room. Then - wait for it - when we turned on the sink in the new room, the water leaked out of the pipes all onto the floor.

The next morning we booked another hotel and left. We were offered no refund or any other kind of compensation. They said since we booked through Expedia we could not recieve any refund for the nights we did not stay.

Save your self the trouble and don’t even consider this place.

OVERALL GOOD 2ND FAVORITE

The restaurant reception and the staff in general were great. The only drawback was the cleaning ladies who forgot to stop by some of the days during the week. When they did stop by they were very polite but rushed. When they did stop by to clean they cleaned. This is the reason why I gave it a very good instead of excellent! The gym and pool are great and for the moment the best I've seen in the places that I stayed in Rio.

I really enjoyed my stay here and I am impressed with the swimming pool facilities along with the sauna and steam room. They have a big exercise room or weight room and I think anyone would appreciate that especially since we're talking about within a hotel.

I stayed at this hotel for 8 nights. Having worked in the airline and travel industry for 20 years I have been around the world and stayed in many different types of properties at many different types of price levels and I loved this property. The front desk staff was absolutely wonderful and helpful - especially Marcelly and her and I were able to communicate well, even with my limited Portuguese - they all tried to communicate with me and accommodate any of my needs. I loved the restaurant connected to the hotel and it’s staff - such speedy, fantastic service and amazing pizza!

Decent but need some improvement.

Front desk staff was superb and friendly. Housekeeping was rude kept knocking on door louder and louder for over 15 minutes after ignoring it and obviously the room was locked from inside, since they tried to opened and couldn’t. One time it was cleaned but only changed the garbage bag, and gave 2 towels. And made a super sloppy bed, almost as messy as I left.
Although I left message upon check in with front desk, to please do not disturb or call due to a surgery I had, that I must not be undisturbed. Someone, kept calling and knocking until I got up and disconnected the phone and open the door just to ask the same thing again.
Pool looked gross lot of dirt in the water, rooms have no bedskirts with box spring showing, it looked very unfinished and sloppy. Bed was comfortable, clean crispy sheets, but cheap mattress, only 2 shower towels and one face left in bathroom. No coffee maker, or iron in room, no free coffee or water on lobby. Super basic hotel… But safe nice looking, in a good location for the town, specially if you are on foot during daytime…

I really enjoyed my stay here and the people were very accommodating. They have a large pool a sauna and a steam room accessible only open until 10:00 p.m. . Everything around the place from food to the mall is within a short walking distance.

I had a good stay except discrepancy ( charged for 4 nights instead of two plus they charged for breakfast which is supposed to be free per hotel.com advertisement + great last minute deal i got )in what i have book for, through hotel.com and at hotel they have different booking rate. I inquire and showed my booking to the receptionist at 3:30 Am cuz my flight was delay from Panama, she was not happy at first then ask my credit card. which i had to give her despite telling her that booking made out through hotel.com
I didn't inquire, resist, pay attention but i wrote a letter to the Manager but didn't get a response yet also sent an email to hotel.com customer service.

for the tourists FYI its not easy to get there especially if you are with kids its way far from GIG airport and its more than 35 minutes drive by Taxi when there is no traffic.

Good thing Luiz Fernando & Daniela speaks good English and they will assist you very well.
Continental Breakfast is good.but remember they charge 35 per person. (i have stayed in many hotels in Rio, all offers free breakfast, but every hotel has their own policy though.) Mercure has nice rooms though.

I stayed only one night. My room was dirty and asked to be moved to another room. It was way too far from the airport, from the city centre, from the carnival and from the beaches. I did not like the neighbourhood. It was not appropriate for my holiday hence I moved.

Great hotel in a so-so place

I needed to spend the night north of Rio de Janeiro as my flight landed late and I had to drive early the following day. This hotel seemed to be the solution. while I had a very nice stay, two things made it no so great: 1. Thehotel's location is very difficult to get to, as roads are windy and poorly marked. I spent quite some time trying to reach the hotel late at night. I speak Portuguese, so I can only imagine how much harder it could be for someone who does not fully understand Brazil's language. 2. The wifi service, while complimentary, was terrible: very slow and off and on. This is a business hotel, so they should fix that.

Distance is too far from rio de janeiro and from the stadium between 45 to an hour, not like you said on your Web page 20 to 25 min, service and attention is very poor.

Nice hotel but neighborhood not so great

My wife and I stayed 7 nights at this hotel and we were pleased with our stay. The hotel itself is nice but there is nothing to do in the area. We took the train and subway every day to go to Copacabana beach. The ride is approx. 1 hour 20 minutes between both. The train ride is recommended during the day but not at night. We heard it is not safe. The hotel is clean and the room is fully equipped with refrigerator and safe. We did not eat the restaurant so we cannot really say how it is. Overall, everything was good.

Has potential but incompetent service, run down

On check in, despite having papers that stated I had already paid in full, I was made to wait 30 minutes whilst they tried, unsuccessfully to confirm they had received payment. Hotel is located far from everything, immediate area looks ok, but it overlooks the 24hour bus station and trains run alongside regularly. Despite having lots of potential as a nice hotel, it is run down, with rubble strewn everywhere, the pool is filthy, I was too scared to put my head under the water! The ugliest infinity pool I ever seen! The staff tried to be helpful, but I was charged 160R for the 30 minute taxi to the airport because it was a 'holiday season' (31st Dec) despite paying 120R for the 2 hour ride from Copacabana the day before. I would think carefully about the reasons for choosing this hotel.

Hotel staff do not understand English. Their ability to understand English is below average. If you can speak portuguese then its fine. Even though I completed the Hotel Check-In form, that ask for my nationality and also, I gave my British Passport. They still put my country as 'CHINA', when clearly Iam from England!!! I told the staff and they just laughed, and not apologize. Iam disgusted that just because I look chinese, they assume Iam from China. What if Iam from Korea? How would they like it I say that they are from India when they 'look' like indian? I asked to booked a tour for 3 days, but they tour guide said he will not see me after the second day - but I paid to have him for 3 days. I got ripped off. I paid him 800 BRL(Brazlian Real) and it was meant to be for 3 days. Also, the tour guide gave poor service, he did not talk about the history of brazil, the statue, etc. He just took me to the place like a taxi driver. Avoid this tour company ' RIO RESPONSE'. Hotel is clean thats the only positive thing - they need to employ staff that know English.

A funcionária viu que ja tinha agendado a estadia,ate mas nao fui avisado sobre a falta de agua na entrada! Fui para quarto enchi meu cabelo de chanpoo ao abrir o chuveiro sem agua.Liguei depois incidente foi a Cedae.
Houve num certo momento tempo veio cair agua e tomei um.banho! O quarto estava impecável limpo e os lençóis branco .Voltarei breve neste hoje Mercure!

A recepção foi muito boa, atenciosa. O quarto limpo e organizado.
Faço apenas a observacao de que quando chegamos ao andar do apartamento (5°), o corredor estava tomado por cheiro de fumaça de cigarro. Um cheiro muito forte, provavelmente alguem estava fumando no corredor, e o sensor de fumaça nao deve estar funcionando.

Gosto muito do Mercure de Nova Iguaçu, sempre bem limpo, confortável, bom atendimento, mas tive duas situações fora do meu habitual que não foram tão boas, precisei passar meu uniforme e fui informada que não havia ferro disponível nos quartos, somente no andar P, até ai tudo bem, ao chegar no local de passar roupa o ferro demorou muito a esquentar não sei se por haver alguma trava de segurança, o fio não chega até o final da tabua alem dela ser pequena e de má qualidade e conservação, como hospede e consumidora fica a sugestão para pelo menos trocar por uma tábua móvel, minha outra situação foi com o café, que ao que parece trocou o fornecedor, as portas ficam totalmente abertas para rua, dando a sensação de insegurança para deixar pertences na mesa (eu estava com as malas porque depois do café, já faria o check out), o queijo estava amargo, o pão doce e o salgado não pareciam frescos, isso que tomei café 06:15, o horario que iniciou praticamente.
Foram duas situações que me deixaram um pouco triste porque gosto muito da rede e já fiquei outras vezes no hotel.

Gostaria de deixar registrado meu descontentamento com a experiência que tive recentemente no hotel de vocês.

Infelizmente, a hospedagem ficou muito aquém do que as imagens e descrições apresentadas no site sugeriam. Desde o início, tive problemas com a limpeza do quarto, que deixou muito a desejar. Além disso, o serviço prestado pela equipe foi bastante insatisfatório, com respostas lentas e falta de atenção às solicitações mais básicas.

Considerando o valor cobrado pela diária, eu esperava um padrão de qualidade muito superior. Senti que o custo não se justifica, principalmente diante de tantos pontos negativos.

Deixo esse feedback com a expectativa de que vocês possam melhorar esses aspectos para futuros hóspedes. Caso queiram, estou à disposição para detalhar melhor os problemas que enfrentei.

Atendeu perfeitamente às minhas necessidades. Boa localização, várias opções de restaurantes próximos, quarto confortável, bom chuveiro. As coisas que não gostei: vazamento no box, há uma mesa no quarto mas apenas uma cadeira e ter que descer até a recepção para buscar copos (preferi beber no gargalo a ter que descer de novo). Nós finais de semana sugiro os andares mais altos porque há um bar próximo com música alta (e ruim na minha opinião) até bem tarde.

Não recomendo. O hotel é decente, mas se forem se hospedar final de semana como foi meu caso, saibam a região é muito barulhenta. Me hospedei para um concurso que tive domingo cedo. Sábado à noite estava insuportável ficar no quarto de tão alto que era o som da música vinda de uma festa ao lado. A bateria parecia estar tocando dentro no quarto. Liguei na recepção pedindo protetor auricular ou uma troca de quarto, falaram que não tinham como me ajudar, que este problema é recorrente, que todo final de semana tem música alta e que eu deveria torcer para acabar cedo. A situação madrugada adentro, sendo que minha prova era cedo. Resumindo, reservei um hotel da rede Mercure, pensando que teria uma boa estadia, e no fim paguei para não conseguir dormir nem ter um bom atendimento. No checkout comentei com o atendente da manhã do som alto da festa e ele foi grosseiro comigo, falou que isso não tem nada a ver com o hotel e que não tinha o que ser feito. Não é verdade, pois se tratando de um problema recorrente, eles poderiam: melhorar o isolamento com janelas de vidro duplo; não reservar os apartamentos próximos a balada; alertar os hóspedes oferecendo reembolso aos que se incomodam com som alto para que eles procurassem outro hotel; ter protetores auriculares; solicitarem junto a prefeitura que as baladas fizessem seu isolamento acústico e melhorassem a empatia no atendimento!

Quarto com uma boa limpeza, aconchegante e com uma boa Vista. Por outro lado, informaram que eu teria direito a um ferro e tábua de passar, mas infelizmente quando liguei para a recepção disseram que todos estavam em uso... a recepcionista tentou me ajudar, mas infelizmente não conseguiu, passei a virada do ano toda amarrotada rs. Mas, De qualquer forma, o lugar é bom... e o café da manhã é ÓTIMO!
