We really enjoyed our stay at the Kauai Shores. The staff were very kind and helpful in helping us feel accommodated. We stayed almost a week.
Highlights:
- Free valet/ parking included in resort fees (most properties charge extra)
- Laundromat on site (it was very humid and this came in handy before our return).
- Mid-way to both south and north shore, and very close to airport - this allowed us to see all of the island from day to day and maximize our time/experience.
- Extra nice staff willing to attend to our requests.
- Pool/hot tun open late until 10pm every day.
- Water front, allowing us to enjoy beautiful ocean straight from wake time.

I would love the option to include a buffet style breakfast at this location - that would have been super convenient.

This is very much a family friendly property filled with kids, as an fyi as well.

The property was in a great location being on the east side of the island. We had access to the North and South without too much traveling. It was also nice to have the Lava Lava Beach Club restaurant on the property. However, we were extremely disappointed in the room as we paid for an Ocean View and had no view from the room. To see the ocean, you had to go outside and view it from the patio. Not exactly what we were looking for when we paid for the upgraded room. We also were not happy with the housekeeping of the room. They would make the beds, change the towels, and empty the trash cans but that's it. They did not clean the bathroom or the bedroom. We have never stayed in a hotel for a week without the room being cleaned. Overall, not the experience we were planning when we made the reservation to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary.

Everything was amazing and beautiful. The AC in the hotel room is very cold so you don’t have to worry about the AC not working at all. The food like breakfast is definitely a must eat at, especially the lunch and dinner. My girlfriend and I didn’t get the lunch and dinner, but the breakfast was very delicious. If you want something sweet without the alcohol, I would recommended getting the Virgin Pina Colada. I don’t know if they have it available for lunch and dinner, but they have it for breakfast. The staff were on point with their tasks and especially welcoming guests. There’s also a ABC store nearby that’s very walkable. It’s called “Island Country Markets”, just a 5-8 minute walk with additional souvenirs shops and a couple of restaurants. Definitely a 100/10 worth staying at.

The property looks nice and some of the staff seem friendly. We ordered the pancakes by the beach and it was just ok. I would rate the a 2 of 5. Things I thought were nice is the hotel seems to have limited parking and they do the valet for free because of that. We did tip the valet and he seemed shocked that we did. The front desk at check in, the staff were so kind and friendly. The beach location to the hotel couldn't get any better. At the Lava Lava beach club in the hotel, the door greeting staff lacked the ability to greet and smile. The waitresses was ok. She didn't keep up with our dirinks. She was ok with being kind, has room for improvement. The worst part of the hotel was the 4 alive roaches that we seen and killed in our room. My skin crawls when I think about it. I will never stay at this hotel again.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was clean and comfortable. It had all the amenities that we wanted. We ate meals at the hotel and the food was very nice with good menus, both for dinner and for breakfast. Our room had a garden view at the end of the unit block, overlooking the pool, and it was very private. It also had a small kitchenette which we always find very handy. We went for a walk along the ocean front and you could sit all day there and watch the ocean. There is a marketplace shopping centre within walking distance which was handy for supplies and browsing the shops, without ever leaving the hotel.

Kauai Shores Hotel was perfect! We loved the location and the staff was so friendly! We went for our honeymoon and they even gifted us Hawaiian chocolates! We loved that they offered complimentary yoga daily. It was such a great place to stay. There was also live music daily which was really nice. The only negative was the restaurant on the property wasn’t good at all, but there are a lot of great options nearby. We would definitely go back and stay there again!

We spent five wonderful days at this hotel during our trip to Hawaii, and it exceeded our expectations from start to finish. The space had such a warm, homey feel that made it easy to relax and settle in right away. Every detail of our stay came together nicely, and we left with nothing but great memories. The mildew smell in the halls and room for me personally was very unpleasant (overcame this with cranking the AC which worked well). This place was VERY clean - I think it’s challenging to fight the extremely humid environment. Overall, lovely stay!

I enjoyed my stay overall, but I was very disappointed with the hotel room service. I stayed for four days, and the housekeeping staff never cleaned our room. I had to ask for clean towels, toilet paper, and for the trash to be emptied. The staff member’s response was to ask me to bring my used towels to the dirty towel bin she had outside in the hallway. She also gave me trash bags and asked if I could bring my own trash to her. It was very disappointing to receive that kind of service from the housekeeping staff.

However, I have no complaints about the reception and restaurant staff. They were extremely helpful, kind, and welcoming, and they made my stay much more enjoyable.

Great stay for what we needed. It was just my daughter & I. Very convenient location on the island- not a horrible drive whether going north or south for the day.
The only thing I didn’t love about the resort was the parking situation. Parking was very limited, and during dinner service for Lava Lava it was often difficult to find an available spot, which meant we frequently had to use valet service. Since our room was located toward the back of the resort, we had to request our car, walk to the front, wait for the valet, and then retrieve it each time we wanted to leave.
While this wasn’t a dealbreaker and we otherwise enjoyed the resort, more convenient self-parking options would have made the experience even better.

The hotel was in a great location, conveniently situated between many of Kauai’s most popular attractions. It was about a 40-minute drive to Poipu Beach in one direction and about 40 minutes to Princeville in the other. There were plenty of shops, restaurants, and cafés nearby, making it very convenient with great local infrastructure.
The hotel offered complimentary bicycles for guests, which was a nice bonus. There was also Lava Lava Beach Club on the property, where we could enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner right by the beach.
The beach itself was beautiful, and overall the hotel provided excellent value for money. The staff was friendly and professional, housekeeping did a great job, and everything was clean and well maintained. We were very happy with our stay and felt that the price-to-quality ratio was outstanding.

Kauai Shores was amazing; the hotel, the location, the staff, the rooms…everything was perfect for us. It was very centrally located in Kapa’a, we were able to explore the entire island with only an hour drive any direction. Lots of amazing food options close by too. The rooms were so clean and nice, made for a great home base while exploring Kauai. Having Lava Lava Beach Club right there was perfect, the food was amazing and the views even better, right on the beach. The hotel has the cutest outdoor activities: bikes, lawn games, fires, and beach chairs made it wonderful. Angela at the front desk was so kind and helpful at check in and throughout our stay, I was so happy to see her everytime she was at the desk. Absolutely amazing stay and 10/10 will stay here again.

Loved the grounds - so many pretty flowers and plants. Very accommodating staff as well. Parking is the only challenge, I wish we could get a reserved spot or priority because we have young kids but not a big deal either. Altogether very happy with our stay and will stay here again in the future!

Didn’t look that special pulling up but I would stay there again over other super fancy hotels. Great location. Great staff. Definitely more oriented to families. Has cornhole, giant connect four, a nice outdoor pool and a walk up to the beach. Not a good beach for snorkeling. The west side of Kauai has rough waters. But an easy drive up to hanalei or poipu. Would 10/10 recommend.

My mom (71) and I (44) had a great stay at Kauai Shores Hotel. What stood out most was the staff. Every person we interacted with was friendly, helpful, and genuinely welcoming.

We chose not to rent a car, and the location made that possible. We were able to walk to Coconut Marketplace, restaurants, coffee shops, and easily access The Kauai Bus to explore other parts of the island. For travelers who do not want the expense or hassle of a rental car, this hotel is a great option.
We also enjoyed having Lava Lava Beach Club right on the property. The food was consistently good, and it was hard to beat the ocean views.

The grounds are exceptionally well maintained. The gardens, landscaping, pools, and beach area were always clean and beautiful. I especially appreciated being able to walk along the shoreline each morning and enjoy the scenery right outside the hotel.

Kauai Shores offered the balance we were looking for—comfortable accommodations, a convenient location, beautiful outdoor spaces, and a staff that truly cares about guests. We would absolutely stay here again and hope to return soon.

Through out the night until they filled those spots all I heard was the car alarms for opening and closing and sitting the alarm’s for these vehicles. Then it started back up as early as 6 am beeping alarms to opening of these cars doors. I don’t believe that this was a first time that the hotel has been made aware of this and it’s not an ideal room to have your balcony literally on the main entrance and there valet parking right outside your door. The room was clean and comfortable it just wasn’t a vacation type atmosphere because it was irritating to have to put up with such a unnecessary noise.

When we first pulled up to the property, I was a little apprehensive. The driveway is basically the back, so it didn't look like the pictures. But once we checked in and entered the property, holy moly! The grounds were absolutely immaculate, the pool was so clean and the seating and umbrellas, etc., were resort class. We loved the patio and chairs outside our room and enjoyed sitting out there and watching the clouds and listening to the ocean.
The room was the perfect size, spotless and the soaps and shampoos were wonderful. My hair has never been softer! The beds had the perfect amount of pillows! SIX! The towels were soft, the staff were amazing, over all I think we'll spend more days at this hotel.
The restaurant was very nice and the food was ok. No fault of theirs, all the food and drinks are expensive when on vacation.
We loved this property so much and it was a great choice. The Coconut Marketplace was next door which had a great selection of restaurants, shops and a convenience store with souvenirs, supplies and food.

Wonderful hotel only one we seen with restaurant/bar right on beach. View from our room was lovely. Room was clean and comfortable. There was some small damage to the wall in the restroom but nothing major. The food was a solid 4 stars. We didn’t care for the ribs and the potatoes served with breakfast are bland needed salt and pepper. Loved the chowder, fish tacos, spicy shrimp and the discovery of coconut syrup was awesome just to name a few.staff was helpful kind. All and all I can’t wait tell we can go back.

Old beach hotel that’s been upgraded very recently. Rooms are completely renovated and smell good with attractive decor. Pools are nicely maintained and well appointed. Restaurant is very nice, lively, and convenient. Free valet parking. Rooms in the back buildings are very peaceful. Two recommendations: a thin curtain for privacy with sunlight and replace the door that was old and you could see light all around it thus letting in noise from the road.

This resort was perfect location, about halfway between the north shore and south shore. The staff was very helpful on activities to do. Valet parking was fast and helpful. Rooms were clean and upgraded with good room services. The restaurant had great service and the food was delicious. The beach was nice but had pine straw that made it a little hard to walk through and enjoy. Wouldn’t recommend this beach for kids to swim in. Coconut Market next to the hotel made souvenir shopping easy and provided options for food.

Ice maker didn't work, parking was horrible. I know they said that there was valet, but getting to the valet was very tedidous and stressful. When on vacation those are things that you do not want to think about. Staff was wonderful and the room was always clean when we returned to the room.

Loved walking out our door and being right on the beach. Loved the convenience of the bar and restaurant and its proximity to the beach. Didn’t love that the only practical way to park was to use the valet service (even though the valets were extremely courteous and efficient). Also loved that, even though we’re an older couple, we found the family-friendly atmosphere and quiet nights comfortable and relaxing.

The breakfast menu was very good. I had a bowl of fresh fruit and avocado toast that was very tasty the macadamian pesto was really good. Try the Bamboocha Mai Tia refreshing after a long flight. Very comfortable beds, nice clean room, beautiful grounds.

Room was clean and tidy. When we did let housekeeping in, they did a wonderful job changing the sheets and all clean towels. They even cleaned a bit too. We took full advantage of the valet services. The hotel lot was always parked full in the evenings, so the fact that they had complimentary valet service was a major win! The lava lava club restaurant was awesome too! Beautiful views to sit outside, and they had live music one night which the lady did awesome! It was nice that the beach was right there too, my husband and I only swam there a few times but it was nice to be so close to the ocean without being too close. The pool and hot tub was a nice thing. We noticed the shower for getting the sand off a bit too late, but we did utilize it. They have water and refilling stations too around the place, and ice. The one downside is that the laundry is quarters only. We don’t generally carry much cash and it seemed like a few extra unnecessary steps just to get some things clean that we could take home dirty too. But all in all an amazing job experience and we’d stay again!

The Kauai Shores Hotel was a great find! I loved the slightly 70’s vibe of the decor, and the price was a great value. The room was nice—comfortable bed and quiet for great sleeping. The Lava Lava Beach Bar had a fun night time action —with live music, great drinks, and excellent people watching. Yoga on the beach was a nice touch. Highly recommend for a budget traveler.
