While I wouldn't wish my spare time in the room, it was clean and comfortable - I had trouble with controlling the lighting in the room - one switch turned everything off ( not unusual) but nothing would turn off the bathroom light which was a bit frustrating. And while I was happy to have an in-room safe - it was far too small - it couldn't even hold an iPad let alone a LapTop. However the staff were friendly and the breakfast delicious. I'd happily go back for another stay.

This is a charming hotel with very individual rooms. Quirky and fun decor. Decent-sized bathrooms. The only negative is that the decor is getting a little tired in places, and the furniture was rather poor - drawers and wardrobe a bit tatty.

The hotel is wonderful in many respects. The location is great (just steps from Via Fillungo), it is very well maintained, and the entire staff is kind and professional. My room was extremely quiet, as well as comfortable and very clean. The breakfast buffet included in the rate is good, and you can also pay for a cooked breakfast. The restaurant is open for dinner with a weekly menu and the food is great -- the chef takes great pride in his food. If you have a heavy suitcase or any mobility issues, ask for a room on a floor with an elevator. The only minor downside is a pretty small closet and storage. I would happily stay here again!

Truly Charming Stay
The hotel is charming, intimate, and very well staffed. From a lovely, abundant breakfast spread with friendly and efficient staff to a roster of well-informed, helpful and friendly front desk/check-in staff, you are pleasantly surprised at every turn. At check in, upon seeing an elderly person with a cane in the party, we were immediately offered a room with easy access from the lift -- very thoughtful. The front desk handled some problems with restaurant reservations that i had made, and got us in everywhere we wanted to dine -- the hotel and team were known in those places, which helped. The bathroom was spacious, and very clean and updated. Good bed, with plenty of extra pillows. The room itself had trompe d'oeuil painting that made a normal space more interesting and charming. Well lit with adequate space, and well-heated. If i were to offer one area for improvement, it would be to have a small chest of drawers somewhere. The hotel is perfectly located in the historic center, and nothing is really more than a 5-10 minute walk away. The price included Wi-Fi and breakfast making this an even greater value than it already is.

This was our 4th stay at this hotel. Very pleased to see that it now has a restaruant. Had the best meal of our visit in Lucca. Staff were as usual very helpful,friendly and efficient at their work.Breakfasts were excellent. My wife thought the bath towels were getting a bit thin. That aside we love the place.

This hotel was so charming in every way. It's located on a quiet street. There is room for parking if you have a car. The room was very quaint but had all of the amenities that you would expect. Jazucci tub, great shower and sink basin, robe, slippers ect.

Really enjoyable stay. Can't speak highly enough of the hotel and the service and help we received. It was also very centrally located. We would stay again. There were only two drawbacks - one was getting into 'old Lucca' by car - you need a sat nav and need to be ready to turn a very sharp left turn up a narrow road to the hotel! Once you've done that they will show you where to park it and the holiday can begin, and two, they charge you 15 euros a night for parking which didn't appear to be mentioned anywhere. Otherwise excellent.

We picked well for a 2 night stay in Central Lucca as the hotel was perfectly located and had everything we needed. Our room was large with s comfortable bed and a gorgeous bathroom. Highlight was the breakfasts though! Very thoughtfully chosen variety including freshly squeezed orange juice, boiled eggs, various breads and croissants. Coffee was lovely. All served in a pretty little outdoor courtyard. Service throughout was attentive yet discrete. We love Lucca and would definitely recommend this charming hotel.

The hotel entrance and check-in area were quite plain and unpretentious, but our room was excellent, with a separate bedroom, another room with a comfortable chair, as well as a closet, dresser, safe, and minibar. The bathroom was enormous (by European standards). The shower was roomy, but a bit complicated to operate (instructions were included), and there was a large separate Jacuzzi bathtub. I never expected a room like this in such a modest-looking hotel.

My mum and I recently enjoyed the most wonderful, relaxing stay at the Alla Corte degli Angeli. From the moment of our arrival, the staff were so friendly and welcoming. Our room - Rosa, was charming, clean and comfortable. Breakfasts were superb with so much choice and excellent service. We thoroughly enjoyed our apperitifs in the evening with local cheese and meats, all served with a friendly smile. We will certainly be returning.

The hotel staff was excellent and very attentive. Our stay at the hotel was October 22nd - 26th and it was unseasonably warm during that time. We requested to hotel management that they please turn on the a/c to which we were told it was turned off for the winter. This lead to very uncomfortable evenings trying to sleep.

We stayed here for two nights to rest a bit after completing a walking tour of the Tuscany hilltowns. The hotel is in a fabulous location inside the city walls and only steps from the Roman Amphitheater. The facility is in a very old building and has the attendant character. Everything was clean and comfortable, but there was a bit of noise outside our window in a small car park between buildings. The noise never lasted very late into the evening so it wasn't a big deal.
You can walk to everything inside the city walls of Lucca from the hotel and are just steps off the main shopping street of Fillungo. There is also a very good casual restaurant just steps from the hotel that serves meals throughout the day. The hotel breakfast is fabulous in both choice and quality. We had a very memorable stay in Lucca. The quality of this accommodation made it even more special. The reception staff on our arrival greeted us with a smile and was very helpful. The rooms are fantastic and the beds extremely comfortable. The breakfast is amazing. Fresh squeezed juice, eggs and anything else you would want. We will certainly put it on our return list and would recommend it to anyone travelling to Lucca.

This is the quintessential small boutique hotel in the heart of Lucca's old town -- it is truly charming, well-kept, with old-world touches and fairly spacious rooms. The staff is kind and helpful; an extra touch is a graceful breakfast room and sumptuous breakfast for those who prefer to eat at least this meal in-house. I really have nothing but praise for this quiet oasis in Lucca, one of Italy's most wonderful destinations.

This hotel was really nice - the room we had was beautiful. The bathroom came with a jacuzzi tub and a separate shower - one of the best equipped we saw on our 2 week trip. We were there in the summer and it was hot, so the air conditioning was wonderful. The staff was very helpful and attentive and the included breakfast was better than most.

This hotel is ideal for staying for 2-3 days. For any longer period the hotel does not offer any room for relaxation other than your own bedroom. There is a not very inviting bar room downstairs.The breakfasts although plentiful lacked variety. The staff were helpful and very pleasant to deal with.

Our stay was good. The breakfast and dining area was really nice. The staff was friendly. However the room linen was very old and needed updating. The beds are very hard and need updating as well. The TV was small an difficult to operate and had only a couple of English news channels. my husband thought the rooms had a musty odor covered up by potpourri . The locks/ keys were unlike most locks and seemed difficult to operate. I think the biggest thing was beds and old bed coverings.

The perfect small, privately run hotel in the heart of historic Lucca. Quirky but well equipped (wi fi, ipod dock, jacuzzi) and comfortable rooms with trompe l'oeil decoration and views over the terracotta rooftops of the old city. Pretty rooms all names after flowers. Great welcome from the receptionist who personally took us to show us where to park the car. Minor panic when she announced we had a room on the third floor as we both had large suitcases as were were touring, but unusually a lift so no problems. I think this had to be one of the best breakfast buffets we were offered on this trip. Oranges for you squeeze your own fresh juice, an egg boiler to boil your egg to the perfect setting, a table groaning with delicious tuscan breakfast items and a very pleasant staff to help. All in all a lovely stay, only marred by the difficulty in getting into the shower over the jacuzzi bath as it had a swing out glass door which opened to where the toilet was situated, but when we got the knack of folding it at the right angle and squeezing round the shower was worth the obstacle course.

Ideal location, quiet and secluded but just a minutes walk from one of the main shopping and dining streets. Quaint and full of character but amenities are modern and high standard inc wifi, powerful showers, jacuzzi bath, ipod docking stations. The trompe L'oeil on the walls are simply charming. Staff were super helpful and friendly and the breakfast was outstanding. Full marks, ideal for romantoc weekend break. We'll come here again.
