Amazing. Start to finish. We chose this hotel for our honeymoon and it couldn’t have been more memorable.

The staff, service, food (I’ve been sending photos home each day of breakfast), the roof top pool, views and just the beautiful decor and ambience.

Monochrome, gold, chic. Exceptional staff. We adored staying here.

I expected a lot after being ranked a 5 star hotel as I’ve stayed in many and the experience was top tier. I wouldn’t rate this hotel a 5 star for these reasons.

The property is on the highest point of Positano which ideally does give you a great view however walking to the hotel and city center is not by any means easy.. the hotel also doesn’t offer a full day shuttle service where instead they offer it from 8:30AM-12PM at 5:00-8:00PM and 10:00-12:00PM every 30 minutes intervals. So basically if you’re at the beach or stores mid day you’re going to have to climb a dreading 25-30 mins up all the steps in order to get your hotel.

They offer a third party porter service at an extra charge which I believe a five star hotel should have their own services to take your suitcases up/down the city center/hotel for their guests.

The hotel decor makes you feel like you’re staying in an Airbnb or in someone’s home. You don’t get a Amalfi Coast or Positano vibe from staying here it’s a bit too modern in my opinion.

They have a Michelin star restaurant which we have a lot of experience with as well since we have done many chefs tastings, etc. This was by far the worst experience we have a had and every dish that came out was terrible. It’s a 3 dish minimum per person.. and we were hoping we would love it since it was conveniently located in the hotel.

Other than these issues the positives are it’s a clean hotel, very welcoming staff, great views, and a roof top pool.

HVF is simply amazing. A beautiful hotel with the friendliest staff you can find in Italy. They made our stay even better. We had a beautiful room with unparalleled views over Positano. Staff recommended places and restaurants other than their own Michelin star. They secured reservations all across Amalfi for us, and made sure we were in safe hands. Everyone is fantastic! A huge shootout to Pedro and Lucia at the Gold Rooftop, Gigi, and the valet guys! Simply the best. Now we have to come back to see our HVF family!

From the minute, we were welcomed in with a drink to the time that we left they were at our service with anything we needed. They also run a shuttle to the city center every 30 minutes throughout the day, which is very convenient. Of the Michelin star restaurant is in your agenda, plan at least 3 hours for dinner.

I have a done fair amount of traveling and stayed at some very nice hotels, but after a 4 night stay here, this might have been the BEST overall experience I have had at a hotel in my life. Every single part was on point. First of all, the hotel is gorgeous! The views you get of Positano at the rooftop pool and from our room that had a balcony were breathtaking both during the day and at night. We spent a good amount of time on the rooftop, which is one of the best parts about the hotel especially when the weather is nice. The food and drinks were all delicious. Most importantly, the service was truly exceptional. Every single area of the hotel we went, we were greeted with incredibly kind staff members making sure we had anything we wanted. All of them were amazing, but we spent a lot of time with Gigi and Valeria at the rooftop pool and both were so accommodating and friendly. I could go on and on, but genuinely I could not have expected a better experience staying here and was told by multiple local Italians that this is the best place to stay in Positano. Made sense to us after we stayed here! Highly recommend this hotel and I seriously don't have 1 negative thing to say about it.

HVF was incredible! The staff was so kind, always anticipating your needs and staying one step ahead of you. The food was excellent, especially LiGalli (Michelin Star restaurant). Breakfast was delicious too. Cocktails and food were more expensive here but worth it for the views. I’m convinced it’s the best location in Positano, perched high above overlooking both beaches but not so far you can’t easily reach shopping and dining. The views are indescribable. Our room was on the 4th floor overlooking the city and ocean. Truly magical. Only downside was we were near the elevator which had a beeping noise and also the rooftop bar was noisy until they closed around midnight. The rooftop pool was excellent for a hot summer day but the umbrellas were heavy and difficult to move to get shade. The bed was comfortable, balcony worth every penny and the bathroom nicely appointed. All in all we loved it and would come back in a heartbeat.

This property has the most beautiful views from its rooms and the rooftop pool and bar is amazing. The staffs professionalism is top tier. Only thing to watch out for is this indoor restaurant. The food was not great at all, especially for the price we paid. We had to go to another restaurant afterwards to grab a bite and even ran into other guests from our hotel who also weren’t pleased with the food.

There is not a bad view from this hotel- we had an absolute amazing time: superior service, incredible views, amazing food... this will definitely be a vacation we will never forget and the biggest reason is because we chose to stay at the Hotel Villa Franca. It was expensive but worth every penny and we would stay again in a heart beat. This was not expected but breakfast, mini bar and shuttle via golf cart around was included.

It is a stunning, perfect property overlooking the entirety of Positano. There is nothing not to love!

The amenities of the rooftop pool, numerous restaurants, floor-to-ceiling windows in the common areas - the friendliness and professionalism of the staff - it was an 11/10. The secret yet not so secret best part? The golf cart brings you down to the town's main center, saving hours, sweat, and exhaustion. That was a game changer, none of our friends' hotels had that option, and it was our favorite part!

The rooms were pristine, the views breathtaking, and the bonus of nightly turn-down service was perfect. The breakfast was enough and kept you full for many hours while exploring. The only negative I found was that the bathroom was dimly lit, making it very difficult to do your makeup. They need to add a makeup mirror and then it'll be the full package! But if that's my only complaint...its nothing.

My wife and I had an incredible experience staying at Hotel Villa Franca. We visited/ate lunch at both Hotel Poseidon and Le Sirenuse while in Positano and were so happy we stayed at Hotel Villa Franca instead. The hotel feels recently renovated and the hotel staff is top notch. Our favorite parts of the hotel and why I would select it over other hotels are 1) the rooftop pool/restaurant and 2) breakfast. The hotel is located towards the top of the city so the views from the pool deck/rooftop bar are incredible. We enjoyed swimming or grabbing a drink while taking in the views from the rooftop after a long day of walking all the steps/alleys in Positano. This is one of the few Positano hotels where the pool is on the rooftop so you get a full 360 view of the city. Also, the breakfast was a great experience to start each day and we did not have huge expectations when we booked. The breakfast tables are along a balcony overlooking the city and beach. As soon as you sit down, a few servers place like 7 small plates of food on your table without requesting. They bring out a meat & cheese plate, a slice of quiche, a bowl of fresh fruit, a plate with several fresh croissants/danishes and even a small chocolate cake. This is even before you get to select other foods from the breakfast menu that also are free of charge. The hotel has an on site chef so everything is cooked fresh and it feels like they try to come up with unique recipes.

Loved this hotel and everything about it. I would have to say one of the best hotels I have stayed at and the experience is something I will never forget. The staff is very professional, kind, and helpful. We arrived at the hotel at 10 am and check in was not until 4 pm. They saw how tired we were from a long flight and gave us a bigger room that was available so we would go to sleep. I thank them for this because not many hotels would do that. The vibe of the hotel is also very nice, fresh, and contemporary. Nothing like anything else in Positano.

Hôtel Villa Franca is a jewel. Located at a higher elevation away from the more crowded beach and shopping district gives the benefit of both a breathtaking view and a quieter experience. Villa Franca is perfectly positioned at the top of Positano and has an incredible 360 view of the town. The pool area is nice and makes for a very relaxing day looking at the mountain. We also appreciated the free shuttle down the hill, so we didn't have to walk hundreds of stairs. Other than the pool and shuttle, we were disappointed in the service and our overall experience. There were ants outside of our room, making it impossible to sit outside on our patio without them crawling on our table/chairs, the service at breakfast was really hit or miss (e.g. we didn't get water every day, even though we asked for it multiple times), shower also didn't have a door, which resulted in our whole bathroom floor being flooded with water making it unsafe to walk around and we felt like ONE linen sheet was too hard/uncomfortable. Providing an option for softer sheets would have been nice. When our taxi came to pick us up, the front desk didn't call to tell us that he was here and we really felt like the hotel didn't care about providing a high-level of service. They were more concerned about us committing to have the tasting menu (and paying $220 Euros per person) for that dinner, versus getting the basics right like fixing the spotty internet and bringing us our breakfast quickly (we waited 40 minutes for yogurt). Since the views are nice, I'd recommend going here for a nice lunch, but spend your money on another hotel that is hospitable and has more consistent service.

Really unique hotel. The decor is fantastic and the view breathtaking- it’s a perfect location on top of a rock where you have amazing views on both sides. The service is extremely attentive, and staff really go out of their way to please customers. The owner, Madama Franca, sits in the lobby every morning and evening looking out for her guests and hotel.
I have nothing negative to say other than the walls are thin, and you can easily hear people walking along the corridor, walking above you, or speaking loudly in the room next door.
The hotel is 10-15m walk from the city center, but it’s very steep so the way back is a real hike. There’s a hotel shuttle in the mornings and evenings.
I really highly recommend the property.

The old town but if you are feeling energetic you can walk down the steps at the side of the hotel to get to the town and beach. You can also walk back but only if you can handle climbing the steps - best to catch the shuttle.

This is a lovely boutique hotel with the main building (Villa) housing all of the amenities. We were guests in the second building which is up the street with only a partial sea view.
The rooms are very nice and clean but walls are paper thin. Breakfast was great with lots of variety and everything (food & drinks) poolside (roof top) was wonderful. Most likely the best view in town.
Only draw back is getting up to the property. Also arriving by ferry it is quite a walk to the taxi stand especially with luggage and the hotel doesn't offer a transfer service.
Overall we were very comfortable and pleased and would recommend. Oh... staff was fabulous.. Thank you!!

Great hotel. Very nice experience. The hotel is about a 10 min walk down the stairs to town. They have a shuttle that comes every 30 min from the center of town back to the hotel which I highly recommend using vs. cab or walking!! The shuttle runs in late evenings and in mornings but not at all times so coordinate your trips to town based on the shuttle to avoid walking up. The gym was nice and perfect what we needed. Staff was very helpful.

We stayed at Villa Franca for two days and had the best two days of our two-week vacation. The views from the hotel are breathtaking. The rooms are cheerful, The linen bedding was amazing. All the staff of this hotel gets kudos for providing top-notch service. One can see that the hotel has a very high service culture. We dined at the Li Galli restaurant on the second evening. The entire dining experience was a culinary delight. My husband and I are foodies and our tastebuds were constantly stimulated. Overall, we had a wonderful stay. Super impressed!

This is the best choice in positano for a modern contemporary hotel-maybe the only choice. Rooms and linens were very good to great. Rooftop pool was awesome. View was to die for. However ten minute drive from the town or 25 euro. There’s a shuttle or a walk down steps that takes 15 minutes, just a little hilly. Staff and service was mediocre, definitely not five star quality and not welcoming and all that helpful, one senior guy was terrific otherwise not a lot of smiles. For $1000 a night for the starter room service sh be much better. The woman rudely gave me a hard time about a late checkout, when 30 -60 minutes never makes a difference for a hotel. No dedicated concierge, the guest services do both check ins and concierge. Lastly, the entry way and fromt desk are unappealing and very tiny, almost looks Like it’s under construction....they should work on that. Otherwise the hotel has capabilities to be five star given the view and quality and newness of the rooms.

Clean, modern, and great service. TV had an Apple TV which was unexpected but very useful. The location is high up, however, so be prepared to do some stairs. The view from this area is great, so there is a trade-off!

Excellent views. Clean rooms. Great food. Service at pool bar from bartender was same as it was 6 years ago, conceipted and arrogant. Front desk staff was extremely pleasant and accomodating, helping book private boat after hours.

I was surprised not to love it more, but overall the hotel was just missing that extra special touch that make great hotels really great. Help with reservations seemed labored, we were never greeted by name, the rooms and facilities were generally tiny- even for Europe standards, and we left feeling like it was ‘nice’ but not incredible. The question you’ll have to ask yourself is whether the price you’ll pay is worth ‘nice.’

Beautifully decorated, clean property. Nice location. Terribly overpriced for what you get. Restaurant is a joke. A bad joke. A really bad joke. Rooms are TINY. There was not enough room for 2 pieces of luggage in our room. Thought about storing 1 piece on the balcony. Not a single hook in the room. Stored damp robe in the closet. TV didn't work properly. Light beside bed was broken (but it was promptly repaired). Staff was \"Meh.\" Housekeeping didn't refresh bathroom toiletries on a daly basis. Toiletries were nice though. Not enough chairs by the pool to accommodate guests. Talked to other guests and they too expressed similar concerns. We stayed at 3 other 5 star properties during our vacation in Italy and Villa Franca was, by far, the least desirable. A big F'ing disappointment.

Everything about this hotel is top notch. Great room and very clean. Best breakfast on the coast. Only real “negative” was that the pool on the roof terrace is not heated so you could not really swim when we were there at the beginning of June.

Everything about this hotel was exceptional! The staff was beyond friendly and really made an effort to get to know you personally. The amenities were great, and the views from everywhere in the hotel were magnificent! I would be happy to stay here upon my return to Positano!
