Pleasant 2-night stay in Ascoli Piceno.

The hotel was in the perfect position around the corner from the main square. When we checked in we were shown our room which was spacious but had no natural light. This was disappointing having booked a superior room. We were offered another room but there was only a bath with a hand held shower. So we decided to take the first room which had a large bathroom/walk in shower.
The amenities in the room were good although there was a bad smell much of the time. Breakfast was good and the service was pleasant. Reception staff were polite and helpful. We did not use any of the spa facilities.

The Palazzo dei Mercanti is a wonderful place. We had a very nice stay. The room was very large and comfortable, the staff was very friendly and helpful. The hotel is only a few steps away from the beautiful Piazza di Popalo, shops and dining in the historic center of Ascoli Piceno.

The street in front of the hotel was being repaired so parking was a little bit of an adventure. Fortunately the hotel has valet parking which was very convenient.

We highly recommend this hotel if you are visiting the Historic center of Ascoli Piceno!

Lovely property overall. But definitely review room choices. Our room was large but kind of a strange layout. Shower in the middle of the room. Large lovely hot tub but water flows so low it would have taken hours to fill. Lots of stairs and lots of hallways between two two connected building. Wish they had been clearer about all the construction and also about the fact that windows in the room were sealed shut.

Good size room, well appointed. Everything was very organized. The staff was very friendly. The breakfast set up was great. The curtains to the outside were closed in the restaurant which would have been nice if we could see outside, but other than that it was perfect. The spa was fantastic. The only complaint there was that I went in later in the day, an hour before it closed, and it was obvious no one had come through to tidy up in a while. There was only one fresh towel in the private spa area. Which you could tell there were shelves where normally there is a stack of towels but there were none. And an overflowing pile of used towels. So that was an unfortunate look for an otherwise great little spa.

This is a completely refurbished 19th century period building. Ultra clean and modern interiors. Room was equipped with all amenities. Very comfortable and secure. Attentive staff and perfect location makes this definitely a 4 star.

This is an excellent city hotel. We had a \"junior suite\" which was effectively a spacious double bed room with a large sofa and ensuite bathroom.
The traffic one way system is very complicated. We followed our GPS and had to park initially in a square approx 100m from the hotel. A member of the hotel staff then accompanied us driving to the hotel which involved exiting the city and driving approx 4 km !
Our room price include use of the Spa. We used the spa pool, steam room and sauna - which were all in good condition and very relaxing.

Very tricky to negotiate the one-way system, so we were delighted to be rescued by reception staff who 'talked us down'! And these same staff continued to be extremely helpful throughout our stay. Nothing too much trouble. The valet car service was most convenient. We will be recommending to friends and family.

Fabulous time in Ascoli Piceno

Visiting Ascoli Piceno for the first time was a treat in great measure due to the location, outstanding staff and marvelous modern facilities. All of our expectations and more were fulfilled. We will stay here again on our next trip. Late April and May are the perfect months to visit. The town is active and the people welcoming and delightful.

A magical hotel experience

This hotel has had a multi million Euro renovation and is an architectural marvel. The staff is extraordinary, especially the team of brilliant young woman who manage the desk 24-7. They are gracious, helpful, adorable, speak good English, and they park cars!! They all promised me that if
life becomes a bit difficile in the New Year, that I am welcome to return to this hotel where the staff
will take care of me. Met a lovely lady named Diana in the Piazza del Popolo, and that is another happy story!

Just the start of their superb service. All of the staff were professional and friendly and ready to give advice on the best restaurants and places to see. Clean modern centrally located to all town attractions. Extremely friendly and helpful staff spoke English very well and very helpful in making day trip and restaurant suggestions. Took our car and parked it at one of their parking location nearby. Very clean updated and modern room and facilities. Didn't get the chance to relax in the Spa. Many quaint small towns nearby to visit we went to two Civitella Del Tronto and Grottomare one in the mountains and one by the sea each just 30 or so mins drive

A wonderful adaptation of an old Palazzo. Hotel very convenient for town centre. We paid 15 euros a night to have our hire car parked away from the hotel area which had limited parking. This was very convenient for us as we spent our two days wandering around the town and visiting some of the historial places of interest. Ascoli is a very vibrant town with lots of varied places to eat and drink at reasonable prices.

Outstanding reception. staff, nothing was too much trouble, they took our car to a secure parking lot and it didn't cost the earth..and every morning we had a sincere welcome wonderful .

A great place in a great town

This hotel is lovely, especially when compared to hotels one finds in other Italian cities that are slightly off the usual tourist grid. The staff could not have been more helpful. They secured a restaurant reservation at Piccolo Teatro restaurant, very nearby, where we had the best meal of our 2 week trip to Italy (and we went to quite a few highly reviewed places in both Venice and Rome). The room was tastefully decorated and very quiet. The location couldn't be better. It's not the lux you find in Venice or Milan or Rome-but those types of hotels don't exist in these types of cities. And Ascoli Piceno is a jewel. If you want to experience Italy like it was 20 years ago, when it wasn't swamped by (fellow) American tourists, Ascoli Piceno is the place for you, and Palazzo dei Mercanti is the place to stay.

Fabulous hotel!

We would recommend this hotel to anyone planning a visit to Ascoli Piceno, It's right in the middle of the old quarter of town with many restaurants and shops within a few minutes walking. Our room was spacious and modern with a beautiful large bathroom and very clean. The staff were extremely helpful and obliging with recommendations and making reservations in restaurants.
When we return to Ascoli we will definitely be staying at this hotel again.

Struttura molto curata, all'interno di una dimora storica, ubicata lungo il corso che è raggiungibile in auto. Da segnalare l'ottima posizione, basta 1 minuto a piedi per raggiungere Piazza del Popolo che è il centro della città. Camera e bagno pulito, e personale gentile e disponibile.
Unico appunto è per la colazione: viene servita all'interno del ristorante della dimora, ma abbiamo dovuto aspettare oltre i normali tempi di attesa per essere serviti, in sala erano solo 2 cameriere che sembravano in \"affanno\" nel liberare i tavoli e al contempo servire i clienti. Sicuramente, per me, l'unico ambito in cui migliorare.
