Overall amazing property, staff, food and facilities. We had an incredibly relaxing stay with lots of beach and pool time and at least an hr per day of great snorkeling. Makes sure you make your way all the way out to the edge of the reef where the drop off occurs as it is spectacular with tonnes of fish and coral

We had a beachfront villa without pool (which wasn’t needed) and it was amazing. So clean, large and well outfitted. Our housekeeper was there everyday with a huge smile on his face and left us fresh fruit and cookies each day along with the best towel culver when we left

The property was really beautiful and the fact that they have 2 islands double the amount of options you have for dining and entertainment. The staff is extremely helpful and they are always ready to help.

Customer service was great, everyone was super friendly and were always making sure we were not missing anything.

What probably took this away the opportunity for becoming a 10/10, is the cockroaches at the room….for multiple days we found small cockroaches all over the room (the bathroom…the shower, even our bed). Even some friends we made at the hotel, later told us that they had the same situation (these were overwater villas). We let the front desk know and they said they were going to put poison in the room, but these just kept showing up…

A place to stay in Maldives

The place was well kept; the water villa we stayed was excellent maintained; two specialty restaurants provided real fine dining experiences and the food were beyond expected;buffet breakfast was ok and all the employees there were always ready to assist the guests ; the only issue was we had to take a local flight from the international airport to the local airport which took about 50 minutes, the travel time was not the issue because most resorts (99%) needed to be transfer to, we had a flight from Maldives to Dubai at 11 am , we needed to check out at 4 am in order to catch our international flight, having said that, the resort did the very best to accommodate us which I totally agreed and understood , overall, I would recommend this resort to anyone who likes to explore and experience the natural beauty of Maldives!

Perfect holiday

We were staying in a overwater pool villa, and our stay was perfect. The resort is so beautiful. Staff were all extremely polite and professional. Food was excellent. The only down side is the location of the resort which is another half day of travel from Male but it was worth it.

It was way overcrowded and they seemed understaffed . You have to book for everything . The buggy service is horrible it takes 15-20 minutes and then takes 10 minutes to arrive . Some staff members were rude . Food was way overpriced .

Our stay at The Residence Maldives was beyond any expectations! All service was excellent, food was delicious and Covid precautions were taken seriously enough, including the possibility to take a pre-departure test. The Residence offers amazing treatments and massages. I can recommend the Clarins Serenity ritual. Me and partner tried this ritual and we were super happy with it - very relaxing massage and facial. We also recommend having a dinner at the Falhuma restaurant, which is situated at a deck which is lays over the ocean and you can watch waves in the distance while enjoying great food and service. Villas were clean and had all we needed. We were moved from Falhuma island to Dhigurah due to less guests during covid. By being moved, we got a villa with a nice pool, where originaly we had booked a villa without a pool. This was a great bonus which we appreciated very much. Also try complimentary yoga class in the evening, if you fancy a stretch, the yoga master could recognize our limits very well and adjusted the exercise so that we won't die at the end :-) (we're complete beginners, so don't worry about your level, anyone can enjoy this class).
We also saw many turtles during our snorchling and scuba diving trips, amazing marine life!

We could also see some trouble making guests around and the staff was dealing with all situations in a great way.

Big thank you to all staff that was taking care of us during our stay, they were all super sweet and professional.

Likes the service. Were supposed to celebrate Anniversary, they never arranged for us for some reason. Saw few cockroaches, but I guess its common on the water properties. Prices are little bit high , but understandable for maintains expenses. Planning to come back.

Great resort. Loved the service and the friendly staff. The only low point was the Scuba instructor (Namratha I think). Used phrases like point is not to die and do you want to quit. Not very motivating for a first time diver

My fiancee and I were extremely overwhelmed at how many choices of resorts there were in Maldives. We finally settled on this after booking last minute. It was discounted 30 or 40 percent due to being in the offseason and looked to be the fanciest of the discounted overwater villas. We were blown away. We both agreed it was worth every penny even though expensive.
We stayed overnight one night in Male, and when we got to the airport the next day to fly to Residence, there was a Residence employee waiting for us. They showed us to the lounge and helped us check our bags. The bags were overweight for the inter-island flight (the weight allowance is more strict than the major airlines)so they did some kind of family check-in where they checked our bags with another couple and they did the same thing on the way back.
We chose NOT to do the all inclusive and we did not regret it. Room service was shockingly affordable, and just a few more dollars per plate than the dining room (menu is same). Everyone gets a free buffet breakfast which was incredible. Our only issue was that on 2 occasions, housekeeping threw away our bubble bath bar and our cookies, but they keep things removed from the room in a holding area before trashing them, so we got them back when we asked. I recommend the sunset facing room. We did not have a pool but were happy just using the lagoon for swimming. Be careful of the current. Only swim out at low tide-they did not tell us this. We want to return someday!!

Our stay at the Residence Maldives was incredible! We came for our honeymoon and stayed in a water pool villa. It was spectacular. The level of service was outstanding. They made our honeymoon very special. The pictures of the villa here on Expedia don't do the resort justice. It's much more beautiful in person. It was very nice to bike (they provide the bikes) around the main island and it had everything you needed for a great stay. We will be coming back.

Fantastic resort! Everyone is so caring and we felt that they really try their best to let us have a good experience at the resort. The point that stands out is that they don't give pressure on tips, we know it is a norm, and a good gesture to give tips, but the staff won't be hanging around waiting for it or make excuses to stick around until you tip. This actually gave us better feelings to appreciate their service and ended up tipping more.
Room deliveries were on time.
Facilities very clean, functioning, no obvious wear and tear, the place is well maintained. Even the decks and the wooden walkways, no broken blocks, must have been well maintained.
The Falhumaa is a high end restaurant in terms of price, but food portion very reasonable. I had a lobster that is so big that probably can't hold with one hand.

Some highlights but also low lights. Very expensive for what you get overall and value for money is not a strength . Food is average and not enough Flavor or variety to justify the prices

If you snorkel then the reef is a great distance away and we heard many people complain about this and lack of walking space to enjoy the island.

Some Helpful staff but also my wife who is Thai was made to feel second to western guests when in Q at Gala dinner and ignored in favor of western guests which is unacceptable and made her feel unwelcome

Overall nice but having been to many other resorts I think you can do better and enjoy more for the price

The best vacation I have ever had. The staffs at the hotel were extremely nice and had fulfilled all of our requests. They always took extra steps to think about how they could make our trip memorable, and they even gave us some gifts/surprises throughout our stay at the hotel.

The entire hotel is awesome. The environment, the room, the services, activities, beaches, bars, restaurants, etc, basically anything we used during our stay was great!

Undoubtful- the best experience one can ask.

The hotel rooms are huge (at least our water pool villa), The pool is beautiful and quiet, and the food is great, there is plenty of variety and things to chose from.

But more than all- the hotel staff. Each one and one of them going above and beyond, this is something that made the whole experience much better, thank you for that!
Special shout out to Udit the bar manager, with the food, drinks and the staff there we wanted to spend the whole vication there.

a nice hotel to go for a retreat

From the international airport, need to take a domestic flight(55min) to Kooddoo Airport. From Kooddoo airport, need to take speed boat(10min) to the hotel. The hotel staff will meet the guest at the international airport and assist guest with the domestic flight transfer. There is a lounge at the domestic airport so guest can wait there for the flight to Kooddoo airport. The Residence is a very beautiful hotel. The rooms are spacious and the staff are all very friendly and nice.The view from the pool area is really nice! you can see fishes swimming around from the walkway to your water villa. The restaurant food is quite nice too (but expensive). A meal would easily cost around USD30-USD60 per pax. The breakfast area is spacious enough so I never have to queue for a seat even at the peak hour. You can order room service for breakfast too if you do not wish to go the restaurant to eat. The spa is nice with a good view of the ocean. The sea sport center offer Jet ski snorkelling trip which is a bit expensive(90min for USD200 plus) but worth going for. The staff will bring guests to some islands to snorkel and some of these islands are really very beautiful(nicer than at the hotel). The sea sport staff are really nice and patient in explaining the various activities available and are not pushy. As the Residence compound is quite big, even though there are many guests staying there, the place do not feel crowded and nosily at all. It is a very relaxing and peaceful hotel.

Amazing, but..

the hotel and the staff are perfect, my stay was exceptional. However, there are 2 downsides to it:
1- the commute from male to the hotel is long and exhausting.
2- the food options were not great, especially the room service.

The location of the The Residence was spectacular.We woke up seeing the sunrise and had dinner watching the sunset.The pool water was clean.The rooms were clean.The Decor, the furniture, the mattress and pillows all very comfortable.The food was just delicious.There was no cars on the island and we loved the quietness and the stillness in the environment.As usual the best part was the people who looked after us .Each and every staff was kind and responded to all our demands at any time of the day.We loved the people.The service was the best we ever had in our travelling lives-New York,Chicago,LA,Paris,London,Milan etc etc.We hope to make another trip in a few more years.
The staff even had Lactose free milk when requested.

Make no mistake, the Maldives is an expensive place and the logistics of getting to this particular Island was an adventure in itself! That said, the Hotel was fantastic and the Maldives certainly lived up to its reputation as being a paradise on Earth! The hotel was luxurious and sufficiently child friendly which proved to be very helpful.

The staff at The Residence were humble and always professional and could not do enough for us. New Years eve was an unforgettable night and overall I could not have asked for a better anniversary experience.

I would certainly recommend the Maldives and The Residence to anyone looking for a complete retreat from the rigours of City life!

Great resort but beware travel

We have stayed at many Maldivian islands over the years and this is up there with the best. Great staff, good food and spa and those \"to die for\" views of the ocean.
But beware of the time it takes to get there and the hotel's staff couldn't be better in Male. There was no rep to meet us when we arrived and when we found one, were told of a 3 hour wait for a 90 min transfer. On return , there were also no hotel staff to greet our 90 min delayed flight and to speed a very worrying transfer to our international flight.
But if prepared for these transfer problems, then the resort I shall superb

An amazing place and incredible staff. We had to postpone our visit by 2/days and the reservation staff went out of their way to accommodate by extending our reservation. On our arrival the staff were amazing and the really go out of their way to make u feel comfortable. Water Villa's are amazing and the place has a serene feel to it. Would like to thank the staff for an amazing experience and hope to be back at some point in life.

Quite, elegant Escape

I would recommend it as an escape for city and work life style; its a quite and isolated place but yet you can do some activities.
I enjoyed my stay with my wife and 9 years son on Ocean Villa with pool, it was my dream stay when I planned to visit Maldives.
Staff is exceptionally amazing, friendly and welcoming wherever we go.
weather was mostly cloudy during my stay but we still had a good time of sunshine that burned me and my wife, always use sunscreen.
Hotel has two restaurants Dinning room (open buffet) and Fulahuma (a la carta)which I definitely recommend despite it's little more expensive than dinning room but it really worth it.
