Perfect hotel choice for tourists in Xi'an

Great stay. Central location with easy access to tourist attractions and local restaurants. Room was clean and functional. Annie at the front desk was really helpful and resourceful. Will definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to friends.

The hotel is in general ok. It located in downtown.

Hotel provides lots of misleading information. For example, hotel says they provide shuttle service to the airport. The service is once in the morning and once in the afternoon. Not convenient for most passengers. Hotel says it has laundry facility. There is no laundry facility. They have an outside laundry service.

The room is very hot. The air conditioner doesn’t work properly.

One electric outlet is not working. The USB outlet doesn’t work.

Hotel was great, I only spent one night before going to Beijing. Rooms are big, bed is comfortable, you have everything you need in the bathroom. I was also using the gym in the morning and they also had solid amount of workout gear. Haven’t had breakfast but I went for lunch and they were pretty slow, it took them about an hour to get me one sandwich and the soup, other then that I really enjoyed my stay and I would be back!

Central location

Room is clean, central location. Near to lots of shop and street shopping. Free shuttle service to airport is limited to a few timing only. Not very useful and especially shuttle service is stated at the booking page.

Nice and good location hotel

Very nice hotel, friendly staffs. Very good location and very close to downtown.

This hotel also offer free airport transportation (limited schedule, need to make reservation to ensure seat is available)

Only item is the shower water a little bit weak (may due to the high floor).

Overall is a very nice hotel with reasonable pricing.

Kids Club?

This hotel is in a great location, clean and has friendly staff. The breakfast buffet was outstanding - after traveling across China for the past month, it is definitely the best we have come across. The only reason I did not rate this hotel as a 5 is due to the fact they had no Kids Club (yet advertise that they do). Also the children's play are was extremely small, worn, dirty and had a perpetual smell of dirty diapers

Nice and reasonably priced hotel in the centre of

The accommodation is standard but the room and furniture need revitalising. Can start with new carpet. The windows desperately needed a good clean. I was in a room with a massive window and a panoramic view but through really dirty glass. Breakfast not catered for international guests. Staff not English speaking.

A comfortable stay

We had a deluxe room for a very reasonable price. The room was spacious, clean, quiet and comfortable.
The buffet breakfast was okay. There is a newly opened restaurant which serves good regional dishes as well as western dishes (which we have not tried). There were only 2 chairs in the lounge, not a lot of sitting space.
The only drawback was that the air-conditioning failed to function on a warm and humid day despite the fact that a technician was sent to the room to check. We had the same experience at another western chain hotel a few days earlier. It is possible that the hotel did not want to turn on the air-conditioning until the hot, summer season.
The corridors smelled of cigarette smoke. Luckily, the room was free of odours.
Overall, the stay was pleasant.

The room is okay. But the elevator on 19th floor was flooded and I had to walk from the third floor to 22nd floor. The regular and the employee elevators failed.

The Novotel is a fine hotel in Guiyang. The rooms are in great shape. The staff are very friendly and extremely helpful. It is close to restaurants, shopping and cinemas. It is well worth a stay.

Hotel is in the heart of downtown, so depend on personal preference this could either be a plus or minus. I didn't notice too much noise from within my hotel room but outside is a lot of hustle and bustle. Taxis are difficult to flag down, they always seem to be occupied, and then once you are out in the city, many taxi drivers seem to turn down short trips unless you agree to a higher fare ahead of time. On the plus side of the location, it is walking distance to lots of food courts, and close to the famous snack streets (e.g.三七小吃街). Amazing amazing street food in Guiyang! The hotel itself is very nice, comfortable and large room. ATM right next door. Hotel staff were friendly and helpful, did help us hire a car for an outing, but did not seem entirely knowledgeable about local areas. I do speak Chinese so can't rate their English. I can see how the place may be slightly difficult to find if the taxi driver doesn't know the name of the hotel (it is phonetically translated so it's basically gibberish in Chinese). The street address is not helpful because it's a very long street and numbers are not displayed. Our first taxi driver didn't know the hotel but was able to drive by and asked me to check the name on the building. A second taxi driver did know the hotel even with the awkward name.

Not a typical Novotel, more of a Chinese hotel

Hotel looks nothing like the photos on the website. Even their best room, junior suite, was cramped and depressingly outdated. Although the staff was friendly, the whole experience was limited by the poor design, limited amenities, not very appealing restaurant and bar.

Superb service

The service at this hotel is the best I have ever experienced. When I had problems getting a Chinese sim card without a Chinese ID, the assistant manager, Kevin, went to great lengths to find where I could get a card and accompanied me to the shop to buy the card and ensure it worked fine; he also took me to an ATM that would take foreign cards; and I got invited to a cocktail party. The hotel is of excellent standard, but its service is truly outstanding.

A reasonable hotel

I traveled with my parents and were our first time in
Guiyang; location is ok with a small supermarket nearby; the only one restaurant located on 3rd floor, the chef has a funny cooking style, no standard equipment and please have no surprise when the food is served different as the menu! Try your luck. Good thing was the restaurant manageress and supervisors were all nice to provide extra service to compensate when customers were not treated well. Thumb up to them!

OK if you get a low price

Plus side: good size rooms. Good location. Downside: tiny shower with no shelf space, water either scalding or freezing, NO WATER PRESSURE, shower is a trickle, no heat in bathroom so freezing when using. Terrible food from the western restaurant. Room service arrives cold, and very few choices mostly from the bad western restaurant. Room service staff answering phone do not understand english. Entire 29th floor is a beautiful wine bar where you must buy full bottles from an excellent selection - but does NOT let you sign to your room or accept credit cards. NOVOTEL is endorsing such a place by giving them the whole floor and this should be unacceptable for their guest - to go through such a hassle/embarassment. Overall, it seems this hotel has no interest in foreign guests - only local.

Highly recommended.

The Hotel was a well maintained, clean place to stay. The breakfast was average fare with a mix of Western and Chinese food. While spoken English was lacking, the staff tried to help as best they could. I ordered room service on several occasions. The meals were delivered quickly, but on one occasion, they served spoiled food. However they did replace the item with a fresh one. The location seemed to be in the City Center near various shopping centers, but the room was very quiet and smoke free (if a little small). Overall, a great stay and the hotel met my expectations.

Pleasing hotel

Novotel Hotel Downtown Guiyang is a very nice hotel. Not luxury at all but comfortable for a visit to an interesting city. Rooms were regular rooms that were comfortable and clean. Staff was always welcoming and friendly, though very little English at all. The location was perfect for exploring. Easy walk to Hebin Park and lots of food stalls that are everywhere. Qianling park is a bit further walk but doable (just be prepared to be molested by monkeys if you have any food at all that they can see). The city is trying to become modern but is struggling compared to the bigger cities like Tianjin, Beijing, Shanghai, etc...). A contrast to the modern that is totally worth seeing. The landscape is the main attraction and it is recommended to hire a guide and see the area outside the city. The karst mountains are a sight that you do not see in North America. The food is excellent and the people were nice. A good adventure.

My parents and I stayed at Novotel for three nights. It is a peaceful quiet spot at Guiyang. Breakfast was also provided with excellent quality. Staff memebers speciall concierge group were particular helpful. The name is a bit awkward in Chinese. But the place is excellent. I didn't know how to survive my travel at Guiyang without Novotel's comfortable stay.

The hotel was a very pleasant place to stay. The breakfast was nice with good choices and good coffee. The staff were friendly with plenty with good English. I went for 20 minute walk along the river at night which was a beautiful mix of shops, cafes and old architecture mixed in with modern towers. Rooms were clean, spacious and modern. Internet not so fast but that is fairly common from my experience in China but that was fine too. I would stay here again.

This centrally located hotel was perfectly fine. We stayed in the suite type room, which I believe are all like that. Bed was very comfortable. I can't think of any criticism, except for the hotel wine list which was weak and too expensive.

On another note, when I read the visitor reviews, I see too often people complain about the hotel and thus give them a poor ranking because they are required to pay a deposit when they arrive. This is simply a fact about staying in hotels around the world. Does one not have to give one's credit card when checking in to a US hotel \"to pay for incidentals\" that have not occurred yet? It is the exact same thing in China and most everywhere else.

酒店樓下便是商場，可以買衣服逛街。馬路對面就有麥當勞，斜對面是一個公園，晚上有很多長輩打陀螺舞，很特別。酒店後街有小吃大排檔，有當地特色烙鍋。早餐方面還算豐富，差不多是四星等級。美中不足便是停車場沒有電梯，以及床太硬，睡起來不是很舒適
