This Royal Surakarta is overrated. The photos of the rooms i booked were totally different from the rooms i got. When you walk in the first thought is wow this is great, again the maintenance on the room was very little. The air-conditioning controller didn't work and the room temperature was bearly comfortable. I would not recommend this hotel.

I was not satisfied with my recent stay of 3 nights at this hotel. Three serious complaints:
1 Upon check-in at 2:00 pm my room was not ready yet, and I had to wait more than an hour in the lobby before the room was ready.
2. For New Years Eve I decided to treat myself to a steak tenderloin dinner, the most expensive item on the menu. But what they served was a small and tough piece of steak, with lots of gristle that was definitely not steak tenderloin.
3. I suffered some serious wounds on my arm due to an extra mechanical lock that had been added to the door, and that had very sharp corners. The bleeding was serious because some skin was torn off. The hotel made a bandage for it initially, but it did not heal quickly so I subsequently went to a medical clinic in Bali for professional medical care that cost me 2,480,000 Rp total for the initial visit and a course of antibiotic medicine, and then a return visit to change the wound dressing. I had to keep wound dressings on for 8 days, which prevented other activities like swimming and a normal shower. The design of that lock was dangerous and the lock was not even necessary.

Impressive heritage decor and artefacts layered upon a modern construction that is airy. Spacious room and feature swimming pool. Easy rickshaw distance to both palaces and to batik museum. Good value. Best nights’s sleep with high quality towels etc… Staff all very helpful.

This hotel needs some TLC regarding their upkeep and maintenance, all over. BUT. It's an amazing hotel with plenty of culture and art displayed and built into it. Rooms are spacey and feels homey.

The lobby and restaurant are decent, but everything in our (tiny) room was chipped, scratched, marked, broken or not functioning properly, including things like broken toilet seat, shower that didn’t drain, marks on ceiling and wall etc. The gym was dirty with machines that were rusted and broken.

Wouldn’t thought the 5 star hotel have poor amenities and cleanliness.

The towel looks worn, poor bathroom lighting, stain in bathtub, the bed lamp is not function, the blanket dirty

So we have to move to another room at around 2am..

Though The staff is very friendly and helpful
We stay at 7th floor

An advice would be a room renovation or before guests check in, there should be room inspection to check everything meet the 5star hotel requirements as I didn’t pay cheap to stay there

Unlike Sofitel managed hotel - way brliw my expec!

Not up to our expectations as one of hotels managed by Sofitel. Towels are smelly and damp. Bedsheet had stains. When we ran out drinking water, we requested fir replenishment and they were going to charge Rp 25,000 per bottle. Outside was only Rp 4,000. And when I confirmed to order it reluctantly, they did not serve it to us. I ended up walking for 10 mins outside to buy- and only Rp, 4,000.

The hotel was nice and breakfast was so-so. The city of Solo is great for sightseeing and tasting the local cuisines. However, the aircon at the hotel was not cold even after the repairmen came. It could be due to their central air-conditioning unit not functioning properly.

Not a 5 star hotel

Don’t let the fancy lobby and photos fool you. This truly was a dirty and disappointing hotel.

1. Upon entering the floor the carpet through the hallways was terribly stained, damp and smelly.

2. After entering the room, the toilet looked used and had lots of grime and so did the basin. No hand towel as well and only 1 bath towel.

3. The pool is a joke. Far too deep for a hotel pool with only 1 change room. The shower in the change room has a broken soap dispenser so to remedy this they just use a small bar of soap like what they provide in the rooms. So that means everyone uses the same bar of soap. Absolutely appalling not to mention unhygienic.

4. Breakfast buffet was tasteless with incredibly lazy staff that don’t clear your table of dirty plates/cups. It wasn’t until I made a complaint that the staff began doing this. Funnily enough a lady working there who was walking around asking for feedback which I happily gave. Unfortunately it made no difference.

5. My mother in law received a meal from room service and I’ve attached a photo of the napkin that was used to wrap her cutlery. Don’t know what the white dots are, I’ll leave that to the imagination of the reader. PATHETIC!!!

Don’t stay at this hotel. It’s a disappointment to the guest and the Accor Hotel Group. I could go on forever but I simply can’t be bothered.

I left a similar review on Facebook. They only reacted to this with a ❤️ which is a pathetic response

Wonderful Javanese Hotel!

The hotel is beautifully decorated in traditional Javanese themes. It’s like walking around a museum. The food at breakfast was delicious, with both traditional Indonesian food and contemporary food. We had dinner at the restaurant one night and it was also delicious. The staff were wonderful. The air conditioner could have been a little colder and stronger, but it didn’t effect the comfort of our stay. Overall, we were very pleased with the value at this hotel.

We enjoyed our stay very much , staff were friendly , breakfast were amazing with lots of variety from traditional to international, Beds were also very comfortable, bathroom could do with the scrubs and the wall in the bedroom due for redecoration.
Overall excellent value and well worth a visit. Will definitely stay again.

We booked non smoking was given heavy smoking room with no AC working. The staff gave us another room but it smells like mold.

Place is filthy, noisy, bathroom is disgusting, shower and toilet doesn’t work.

I would rate this hotel 2 stars instead of 5. Definitely will not come back, ever!

For the services are quietly well, my suggestion during stay on these days:
We was move from room 501 to room 701 for the same condition. then move again to 911
1/Need to improve to inspect & maintenance of room facilities (ex: bathroom faucet,wifi,tv signal,all room light condition)
2/Need to added more rich meals.
3/As usually in abroad always prohibited to smoking at enclosed area . when i want to smoking will going to outside at smoking area at first floor.

I was pleased with this hotel. The location is very good, near the Solo Palace Museum and the Danar Hadi Batik Museum (which is an absolute must-see attraction in Solo if you have any interest in batik, the national fabric art of Java.....a sparkling new and fully air conditioned oasis with outstanding guided tour)and Food Street. Across the street the BCA bank has excellent exchange rate.

Rooms were clean and nice, beds comfy.

One minor housekeeping problem was more than sufficiently addressed personally by the French hotel manager. I extended my stay by a night, and would definitely return.

Smack dab in the middle, great location. Eventhough the hotel is very pretty and ethnic, many things are old and sometimes didn't function properly. Squeeky air conditioning, broken sink and tub drains, cracked sink. But the service was excellent, and the veriety on the breakfast buffet was amazing.

First time I stay at The Royal Surakarta Heritage and it wont be my last! I will make this Hotel my regular Home when I visit Solo every year or 2.
The Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Everyone smiling and are always making each moment memorable.
I planed to stay here for 4 days first and I had booked another hotel..however I have decided to cancel the stay elsewhere and extent my stay at The Royal Surakarta Heritage. I have also decided to move to the Executive Suite just to experience the best accommodation available and fell like a KING for few more days...THANK YOU to everyone at The Royal Surakarta Heritage..

The hotel is new and clean and service is very friendly. However, the air conditioning unit is rather noisy and uncomfortable. Although it is rated as a 5-star hotel, it feels more like 4-star. For an Indonesian hotel, it can be rated as good but not at level of an international brand.

Good food including the western food. Beds hard. Electronic keys continually malfunction meaning many trips to front desk. Conceirge knows nothing about Solo. We stayed 9 days and they demanded 3 interim payments. Bath floor never cleaned so big hair build up. Pool surprisingly cold.

Fint hotel og store rom. Litt kjedelig frokost for en som ikke er fra Asia. Også måtte vi betale for 1 frokost fordi dem mente vi var 5 voksne og 3 barn, men når jeg bestilte så står det barn opp til 17 år og 4 personer var under 17. Det var ikke mye penger men litt irriterende. Så da ble det dessverre ett annet hotel når vi var i Solo 2 uker senere.

Fitnessraum vorhanden, aber eher heruntergekommen. Für die meisten Übungen jedoch in Ordnung.

Frühstücksangebot ist gut.

Pool mit schöner Aussicht.

Jedoch war unser Zimmer ziemlich abgewohnt und auch nicht sauber. Daher die 2 abgezogenen Punkte.

館内のインテリアやアートなど調度品、朝のロビーでのガムラン演奏など、ジャワらしい雰囲気が味わえる
朝食ビュッフェは種類豊富、味も良く、大変、満足した
悪い点
建物、設備が古い。例えば、防音が悪い。USBの充電ポートがない。浴槽の排水が流れない。など
通りから音が騒がしかったし、隣の部屋から会話や生活音が大きく聞こえた。私達の会話も隣の部屋に筒抜けでしょう。
すべての部屋を禁煙にしたほうがいいのではないか？2泊のうち1泊は禁煙のリクエストが叶わなかった

The room as no air circulation , seems that nobody stays in for years , it was smelly , very humid in the room , clothes and sheets were weat by humidity , air conditionning very old not working in the first room they give me ! Stains in the bathroom . Really need to renovate ! Also I was able to ear everything people were saying in the other room. Not soundproof walls that s for sure . Not a MGALLERY collection as I have seen other places in the world . Should be rated 2 starts not more.
