Easy walk from train station. Large room with large bathroom with bath. Comfortable bed. they had a festival on when we were there. It was great ….. lots of music food and drinks.

To get to the property we had to phone the hotel so they could raise the impediment in the middle of the road to get in. Once in, we were guided to the property by the front desk thru a series of very narrow roads - which i did not like.

This hotel was in an excellent area of Arles right on one of the main squares- excellent cafes right outside your door. The pool area was beautiful but the bar was not open while we were there which was a disappointment. The room was very old but nice and the bed comfortable. I didn’t love the bedspread and blanket on the bed - I prefer a duvet but it was hot and we didn’t need it. Overall a nice historic hotel that it is very good condition- staff were great and really helped us out when our taxi did not show up! I would recommend

June 2023 Provence Trip

Had a wonderful stay at the Hotel du Forum on a recent family vacation. Nice location in the middle of all the Arles historical sites. Great food options nearby. Nice place to see other areas of Provence. Great swimming pool and place for breakfast.

Lovely hotel in the heart of Arles
Really enjoyed staying here, the room was spacious and newly renovated including the washroom
Staff was nice and friendly.
The pool areas and the bar are so cute and charming. Specially the bar that has a 40s vibe
Location is great , 5 min walk to the Amphitheatre, 2 min to Sr Trophine Church and eight in the place of the Van Gogh restaurant
Park at the P Centeun is only 250mts walk and the cost is like 20 euros for 24hrs
Great stay ! Would come here again
If I have to point something negative it will be my room had no view but I didn’t go to Arles to stay in the room 😃

I checked in on Tues, 5/16 and the desk receptionist and the girl who showed me to my room and explained everything were wonderful ! The next morning, the breakfast staff was wonderful, however, the 2 girls at the receptionist desk were snotty and rude. Acted like they didn't want to help me and gave me very short answers. When I told them I couldn't get cell service to call a Taco, I was abruptly told to go outside. I came back in to get help making a phone call to get a ride back to the train station and the one girl smacked the phone down on the counter. What do these 2 girls think that they are being paid to do, be rude? Again, it was the morning of Wed, 5/17 and it was the 2 girls working the receptionist desk. I wish I had gotten names. Someone needs to tell them that the only reason that they have a job is because guests like me come to stay at the hotel. If they don't want to do their job, they should find work somewhere else!
Everything and everyone else was great! Breakfast Buffet was great as well!

The BEST staff! I arrived in Arles at eight in the evening. There were no taxis available even by phone. The evening clerk at the hotel guided me for blocks by phone (!) and then stepped out into the square to wave to me to help me find the building. As a 75 year old woman traveling alone, he seemed like an angel!
The daytime clerk was so helpful too and the breakfast server took time to chat with me about restaurants! What a great group of people!

The condition of the toilet in the room was appalling. The floorboards were rotted and the toilet smelled like a drain. Even though the room was serviced daily the smell remained throughout our 3 night stay. The staff must be aware of the smell. For 110 euros per night that is very unfair.

Some staff were hostile, unprofessional - bluntly snobbish and contemptuous in a way I have not experienced in over 40 years in France. The behaviour of the young bar staff was openly hostile and insulting - being ridiculed in front of other customers is wholly unacceptable, but they seem to be encouraged to behave with arrogance. Certain receptionists were unwelcoming and cold. I was made to feel by those people as though I was not welcome. Other staff particularly the younger female staff were lovely, professional helpful clear and made me feel less unsafe and less vulnerable as a lone female traveller. The Hotel advertises as international, and aims at high quality, but is threadbare, tired and overdue for a refurbish. The Bar is dark loud and unwelcoming all day- extending to disruptive and frightening in the evening. Do not book a reduced price offer here as you will be given a room in poor quality which felt like cupboard.. then be treated badly for the rest of the week when you ask to move - and pay the extra cost. Felt more like youth hostel than a quality hotel. Do not recommend this at all except for the groups of drunken teenagers who were there - for whom it clearly felt like home. I saw other visitors chose to go elsewhere in the evening. I was relieved to leave, as it soured my stay in the town and when I return to Arles, later this year, will not go back here. Very disappointing and overpriced. The Hotel have been given this feedback directly.

Once we found it, great!

The hotel was wonderful, in a great location, clean, comfortable, with a friendly and attentive staff. If you're driving, GPS is not likely going to be your friend, since it will send you down streets that are blocked for pedestrians and also the wrong way on one-way streets. You should call the hotel and let them guide you. Be aware that you have to collect your car by noon on check-out day.

Very charming hotel with beautiful pool & gardens. The staff were very lovely and accomodating. Perfect location in the Place du Forum opposite Van Gogh’s cafe.
While the bed was comfortable, the rooms & decor are dated.

The Only Place to Stay in Aries!

Hotel du Forum has been superbly run by the same family for generations. Their pride shows in the excellent service and fine attention they give each of their customers.
The hotel is on the main square, close to everything! The room was cool, comfortable, and quiet. We overlooked the pool. We had breakfast each morning at the pool and had drinks there in the evening. Restful and serene.
The Roman Catacombs are just around the corner. I highly recommend Hotel du Forum. We will be back!

A nice stay in Arles

Nice boutique hotel in town centre opposite to the famous Van Gough Cafe. 5 mins to the Roman theatre and amphitheater. Very convenient location close to lots of restaurants. Staff are polite and helpful. Price is reasonable considering the very central location yet quiet. Room is clean.

Hotel is like an historic landmark inside and outside. It’s located on a very busy main square in the old city section of Arles, within 10 minutes walk of most major sites. Driving a car to park at the hotel is tricky as it requires navigating very narrow roads with many pedestrians. Staff were all friendly and helpful.

The building and rooms are charming! Stayed 4 nights and had a spacious top floor room with wonderful view. Good breakfast at reasonable price. Lots of restaurants on the Place du Forum where hotel is located - really good location that's not far from the river, colosseum, garden d'ete, St.Trophime, etc. Finally, the staff was really helpful and Florence, the manager, is friendly and professional. We will return to Du Forum and certainly recommend it!

I love this hotel!! Location on the Place du Forum is the best, with restaurants waiting as you walk out the door! Staff very friendly and accommodating. The pool area was out of this world!
We ate breakfast there every morning, and had a glass of wine every night.(except the bar is closed on Sundays)
Awesome location for restaurants.
Parking was a bit of a hike - in public parkade.
Rooms are large and basic. Blow dryer :) Liquid soap. No shower curtain which seems to be the norm in 4/5 hotels we stayed in throughout France.
Staff were awesome - front desk, morning server and barkeep by the pool.
We would return!

It is an older building but is quaint and charming. The square in which it is located is an amazing venue and exactly what one would want from Roman France. All the sights are easily walkable in Arles and the tourist seen to stop in mid afternoon, mostly French are in town in the evening. Still most French people we encountered speak English and they were very friendly and helpful. One catch....don’t drive into town. There are gates at night for a reason, the streets are very narrow and you will be driving through people dining and such. So park outside and walk in. There was lots of parking.

It is located in the heart of the historic district of Arles which is a real plus ONCE YOU REACH THE HOTEL. Getting thru the barricades is difficult because the hotel has to lower them to allow entry, something I didn’t know and only found out by walking to the hotel. Other than that we had a lovely experience there and look forward to repeating it.

A very nice hotel full of history at the bustling Place du Forum. The hotel itself is already a visitor's attraction. Staff is helpful and friendly. However, it's difficult to find their parking. We gave up and parked nearby outside. It's really tiring to walk to the hotel with all our luggages on such hot days.

The room is spacious and nicely decorated, but we found the blanket sheet a bit wet.

For breakfast, better to take the €7set (juice+crossiant+coffee) than the €10 buffet breakfast. There are very few choices and no refill. We woke up late and therefore everything seems to be leftovers.

This is our favorite hotel on this trip to France. The hotel feels (for this Californian at least) so French. Our room was simple but v comfortable. We had a view of the beautiful pool, and breakfast beside it every day. The staff were uniformly kind and helpful. The location cannot be beat. I did not want to leave.

Café Van Gogh at the front door

This historic hotel was in a perfect location for visiting Arles. The room was spacious and clean, the bed comfortable, and the staff very efficient and friendly. Would just have liked to have some toiletries provided. We did not reserve parking in time, but called the hotel and were given instructions as to where to park as an option (it was the same price) which was close by and very convenient. Would definitely book there again.

In the heart of Arles

The hotel is ideally placed in a square full of places to eat and drink. It has a small pool in a secluded spot - a lovely place to relax after sightseeing. My room was spacious and I enjoyed having a writing desk. There was plenty of space and hangers in the wardrobe and the bathroom had storage space for toiletries and makeup. All the reception staff were friendly and helpful; they answered all queries and made recommendations.

Elegant hotel in the heart of Arles

What a delight to pull up on our bicycles to this old world, beautifully decorated in antiques and friendly hotel. They stored our bikes right away, sped through check in so we could jump in the pool with cold beers! The room itself was HUGE by any standard, full of antiques but had modern conveniences. Bed was comfortable, quiet and we felt like kings. It's right on the Place du Forum which is full of outdoor restaurants and in the heart of Arles. Everything is an easy walk away. Would definitely stay here again. Air conditioning worked!

Worth the effort.

Firstly, this hotel is right in the centre of the old town, situated on a square bathed in restaurants. Narrow streets and period buildings give an authentic feeling of Arles. Walking distance to a host of sights, including the Arles arena. Perfect. Difficult to get to by car though. Note: GPS will not get you there! When you are close, but hydraulic bollards or the one way system is preventing progress, call the hotel and they are able to lower a bollard so that you can access the maze of ancient streets. We parked by the river, walked in, got a map and directions from the helpful hotel manager, rang her when we were at a bollard and were given access. The hotel is pretty easy to find after that. Lovely old hotel, friendly, helpful manager and receptionist. The room was fine, air conditioned and with a god sized bathroom. On site parking was convenient and a worry off our minds. As mentioned, there are plenty of restaurants close by with The Tambouree, just 15 metres from the hotel, providing an excellent lunch at a reasonable price. Happy to recommend it.

Very convenient location in Arles, just a 5 min walk from all the major sites and cafes right outside (including a yellow cafe painted by Vincent van Gogh). Felt like a grand hotel of years' past, without being pretentious or snobby. We felt at home and the staff was super friendly/helpful. Room was huge and breakfast was good. Only downside is, in case it bothers you, they use a lot of perfumes. Will definitely stay here again if we travel back to Arles.

Excellent location but book on-site parking

This hotel is beautifully located, right in the centre of Arles. It is clean, comfortable and has the added bonus of an outdoor pool. It has many traditional features and fittings, which give it an atmosphere which fits well with the history associated with Arles itself.
Our only gripe - and it's a significant one - is that we didn't realise we had to book on-site parking in advance. We didn't do this and because there is only a handful of parking spaces, we were forced to park off-site. This is no easy undertaking as most of central Arles is car-free and protected by bollards which you need a special code to lower. The best we could find was a site almost half a mile away, so we had to wheel our cases over some very uneven terrain on arrival and departure. You can only pay for parking in these sites for a maximum of 24 hours, so we had to go back and forth to renew our parking ticket.

In short, if you can pre-book on-site parking, you'd be pushed to find a better place to stay. If you can't, I really would think twice about it.

Thrilled with hotel and location

Never have I received a better welcome, as they talked us into Arles via blocked roads, and openly helped us check in and take care of our car. This was such a central hotel and really a great find. Continental breakfast by the pool, lovely roof top view, huge well appointed room for three, what could be better. I was thrilled with the location, Van Gogh Le Cafe de Nuit across the street and walk everywhere. Great city.

a small old fashioned hotel with a great location in Arles,right in the middle of the old town,well maintained with a pool,great to use after a day of sightseeing (the place is hot in the summer)
Only drawback is the access by car ,it is restricted and if you have luggages
it can be a problem to drag them from a parking outside the restricted aria.

In the heart of it all! A must stay!

This was an absolute fantastic addition to our 4 night voyage in Southern Spain... and we actually stayed here 2 nights without even knowing it! The hotel is in the cutest little square with several cafes, restaurants, and IS the center of this great little historic town in France. The staff is so nice and go above and beyond to assist you. The rooms, although kept in there most original historic form were really comfortable and quiet even though you stayed in this busy area! The pool is awesome and my kids enjoyed every minute of it! Kind of hard to find at first but recommend parking abut a mile away in the free public parking lot and walking down. The old bull ring, ampitheatre and so much more is just around the corner! Every kind of food and drink you can desire! The streets and old buildings itself is enough to get lost in! Highly recommend and the price for what you get cannot be beat for this awesome experience!

Great location in Arles with friendly staff

We really enjoyed our stay here. The room was very large and comfortable for our family of 4. We were also pleasantly surprised by the beautiful pool and even an air conditioner in the room. The location is right in a delightful square which includes the Cafe Van Gogh. The staff was very friendly and helpful (spoke English) -- and recommended a very good restaurant. The breakfast option is very good and we enjoyed it in the courtyard by the pool.

Arles - love it!

Spent 2 days in the Roman city of Arles.
Heart of the city revolves around the Roman and Medieval areas, very compact so easy to explore in depth.
Stayed in the Hotel du Forum, which is very characterful. Staff very friendly and could not have been more helpful.

A fine hotel in the centre of the old town

Sited at the corner of a (mainly) pedestrianised square (Place de le Forum) in the centre of the old town, this hotel impressed. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room we were in was huge (no. 33) and cool. We did not even need to turn on the air-conditioning. we were surprised that there was a tranquil swimming pool in a secluded courtyard, besides which we had our breakfast. the price for breakfast was excessive however..tinned fruit salad and not a great choise to be had, despite this I thought this a wonderful hotel, typically French and welcoming. If you seek the conformity of a national chain , this is not for you. This is an individual hotel that takes care of the individual. If you are driving then remember to request a parking place.

Nice, large comfortable room with good standard ensuite facilities. Only downside was street noise kept us awake a large part of the night.
Lovely pool area, though sun disapears early and could do with a few sun loungers.

Great hotel and super location

This hotel is located in a fantastic location. It is located in a plaza with 4 or 5 cafes and an ice cream shop. We felt very lucky to be staying right in the heart of Old Arles. It was a little tricky to find the place at first. We looked at a map and thought it would be simple to walk to the hotel from the train station. It really wasn't that far, but the twisting old cobble stone roads, although very charming, were quite difficult to navigate. Everyone was friendly and helpful, and despite our very rudimentary french skills we were able to ask for help and find our way. The staff at the hotel were more than helpful and spoke excellent english. The hotel is older, but it has plenty of character and is well kept.

Authentic Taste of Arles' History and Culture

Warm, inviting, jazzy lobby for billiards, drinks, listening to beautiful music under the glow of sunshine through colorful stained glass reflections. A pool that feels like your in a luxurious Istanbul bath, a front door receptionist that greets you always with a smile. Toiletries could be much better. Bedspread could be fresher. Pillows are awesome. Bathroom is wonderful and expansive. View is cool, but could be a little loud due to the echo of people talking loudly on phones as they walk below. Very difficult to drive to. Beautiful interior. Quaint and cute furnishings. Loved it.

Americans in Arles

We stayed 4 days at the Du Forum using it as a home base for exploring the south of France by car. Entering and leaving Arles by car is a huge minus because the roads are very very small and even a seasoned French driver can get in trouble because the maps and one way streets change with regularity. If we had been staying at the Du Forum just for walking access to the sights in Arles we would have had a better time. The hotel itself is in a prime location, the building and rooms were out dated and very worn, an easy fix would be mattresses that are from this century. The pool was a nice touch, very cool on a hot afternoon, the deck chairs hurt like nobody's business. The staff, a family run affair were very nice and helpful most of the time, I would like to give them a glowing review, the older woman who owned the place even loaned us her personal seat cushions to take to the theater. The only down side to the staff was occasional cultural friction, we asked the front desk lady to book us dinner which she did with no problem, when we went to the restaurant they just ignored us, after waiting 15 min we just walked away. About 20 min later we get a call from the front desk woman who yelled at me and said I was very rude for walking away and not informing the waiter we were not going to eat. Needless to say I was furious, we made a reservation, which was not honored, and then I am rude? Unfortunately that was our last night in Arles and left a really bad taste in my mouth about the staff. I would recommend for people from France or anyone who speaks French, if you don't I would look elsewhere.

My husband, son, and I just spent 1 night there when passing through Arles -- great location on piazza, large comfortable rooms, even a swimming pool! And when we were late for breakfast, they were kind enough to let us eat anyway. Overall a wonderful stay!

Everything we Wanted

The Hotel Du Forum was everything we were hoping for in a hotel in Arles. We walked from the train station and it was easy to find the beautiful square where the hotel is located. Entering the hotel we found a nice bar, lovely breakfast room, and lobby, and the reception desk. The staff was very welcoming and suggested we look at two rooms and decide which one would best suit us. They also gave us a map of Arles, suggesting the sites to see and offered suggestions of cafes or restaurants to dine that offered traditional foods of the area. And we were pleasantly surprised to find an elevator, rare in small hotels in Europe. Our room, number 42, was lovely and quaint with linens from the Provence area, with pale yellow walls.. The room was very large and spotlessly clean, the bathroom large and very clean also. There was a small refrigerator in the room that came in handy for snacks. A large window opened onto a narrow street below and was so nice for fresh air, and no noise at all. When we went down to breakfast the next morning we found fruit, meat, cheese, eggs, an array of fresh breads and rolls, fresh orange juice, and wonderful coffee. Perfect to start the day. We needed to make a call within Europe and had trouble doing it with our mobile phone, the receptionist offered to make the call for us and did the translating and took care of our problem at no charge to us. We found the Hotel Du Forum to be absolutely wonderful and recommend it highly.

We arrived early and still got in our room. The people at the desk were friendly and very helpful. Room was bright and very clean. The location was perfect but Arles is very small so walking to all sites was very easy! Don't miss the underground crypt!

Walking distance to everything!

The hotel is in waking distance to everything we wanted to see. We ended up having to walk to find the hotel because it does not appear to be searchable with the GPS. Once we knew where the hotel was we could then navigate the roads to get to the hotel. Do not attempt to drive a large car to this hotel!! The hotel did park the car for us for the night. The plaza that the hotel is on is very vibrant, even on an April weekend. Staff was very welcoming and friendly, room clean.
