Not quite as good as we were expecting. There was no coffee/tea making facilities in the room nor was there a room safe or nice “smelliest”.

A Peaceful Retreat

What a beautiful Chateau in the country! It felt like going back in time, and they had a restaurant so we didn't have to leave the grounds. There was no air conditioning in the room but that is normal for most historic homes. Very peaceful.

Lovely chateau hotel full of charm

We had a lovely one night stay and were given a warm welcome. The traditional rooms are not huge, but well appointed and ours had a very nice modern bathroom. The restaurant is excellent and breakfast (extra) was very good. A really nice place to stay in a peaceful location.

Needs a loving renovation

Beautiful house and property, but rooms need updating and upgrading.
The last renovation was probably done in the 70's or early 80's, our bathroom was terrible, a shame in such a lovely historical property. We had dinner on site, expensive, but very good - worth it!

WOW WOW WOW

A stunning chateau within the forest. So silent except for the night time shootings of the owls. We were welcomed by the hostess into her home like guests of the family. Nothing was too much trouble. The ancient chateau was kept absolutely immaculate - not a speck of dust in sight. Cannot recommend highly enough.

Not cheap but very nice!

Lovely old buildings but clean and fairly modern where needed. Welcoming proprioteress very helpful to us when our group stayed for two nights on cycle ride to and from Paris. Food and drink pricey but tasty and sufficient for 4 hungry cyclists.

Relaxed atmoshere, tranquil spot

A friendly welcome in a lovely quiet spot. Nice pool. Good atmosphere in the dining room, and food delicious. We had the mid-priced (of 3) fixed menu; breakfast was extra, but well worth it.
Only downside was the separate en-suite WC, other side of room from bathroom and with very squeaky hinges and door latch!
We would definitely use this as a stopover again, if not stay longer another time.

Peaceful and tranquil

Spent one night here, having driving from England that morning. Beautiful old chateau in pleasant grounds with a swimming pool but quite isolated. A place where you really could appreciate the sound of silence. Staff were friendly and very helpful, and room was fine, with furnishings in keeping with age of property. Dinner was first class and the chateau offered a fine selection of wines. Would stay again.

A smaller chateau in the middle of the county side

We arrived after an afternoons driver from the Channel Tunnel in the early evening, to be welcomed warmly. A lovely bedroom overlooking well tended gardens with a large mown grass area, surrounded by tree stretching away into the distance. Comfortable room, with ensuite facilities, of a more mature style. After settling in and refreshing, dinner was the usual choice of three menus and a la carte, with delightful home cooking, and excellent and reasonable priced wines. We slept well after table tennis and billiards - not snooker - in the undercroft. We woke to a lovely sunny day, with a slight mist off the fields, and the sight of the donkeys in the adjoining paddock . We did not use the outside pool and gym, as we needed to move on West, but the facilities were clean, very attractive and inviting.
Breakfast was the wide choice of meats, cheeses , fruit and cooked options, with pasties, rolls , confitures and yoghourts . Excellent service at a very reasonable price. We would recommend it and if in the area, revisit.

Secluded

The chateau is very secluded and feels very romantic when approaching. There were no facilities in the room for making a drink for yourself, ie: no kettle, teabags, coffee, etc and there was no fridge. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. You were limited to one bread roll for breakfast as it would have taken 10 minutes to bake another one!! The bathroom was very small and the bath was not big enough to have a bath in comfortably. The décor was good and made you feel as though you had gone back in time.

Relais du Silence

Let me first say we are a couple in our Late 60's. Travel a lot, like to hike, walk new cities, socialize, a 'young' late 60's. This hotel is beautiful, the food outstanding, but please note that this is a 'Relais du silence' hotel. I never knew too look for this. It is exactly that very, very quiet. To be able to listen to the news you have to sit on top of the tv. You cannot hear it stretching out in bed. If you want quiet, this is for you. In the middle of nowhere. Again it is comfortable, clean and food was one of the best in six weeks of traveling through Europe.

Great hotel - take note of the location

The hotel is very nice. However you must take note it is very far away from major cities. You will need to coordinate gas for your vehicle in advance. Most stations are only staffed starting at 08:00. Credit cards from the US may not work without an attendant to take a signature. There is also limited cellular coverage in the area. The streets are not very well lit, so drive carefully in the area.

Beautiful grand chateau in leafy Normandy

Chateau Landel was a real find - in a quiet leafy part of Normandy. We were welcomed and made to feel like we had the place to ourselves. Lovely front terrace and aspect and enough parkland for a relaxing stroll in the sun before dinner cooked by an excellent chef - small-ish menu but some unusual choices (try the guinea fowl terrine and the roast pigeon - deliciius). The room and ensuite appointed to a high standard, v comfortable and in keeping with the period of the building. Wd certainly go again.

Very impressed with the location and the Chateau building itself. Parts of the hotel need a little work but you have to accept that older Chateaux are large and expensive to maintain. Beautiful setting - but visit local towns

Lets start with the positives, the Chateau and grounds were beautiful which made for some lovely late evening strolls.

The place is a \"silence\" hotel so the pace is very slow and quiet. The staff are perfectly nice, but they push their breakfast and dinner on you. We ended up having the dinner one night of our stay and must admit it was a pleasant meal but a tad expensive for what you got.

We had an attic room where we found the rooms to be dated, small and the walls were paper thin. Furthermore, the bed was saggy and the towels provided weren't soft at all.

Overall, this wasn't an unpleasant stay, but the hotel would greatly benefit from some updating.

peaceful, quiet, serene

We arrived slightly later than planned because our GPS took us all over the countryside..a much faster route was available we found out the next day. We received a very friendly greeting even though we were so late and even were able to have a midnight snack delivered to our room with a couple of beers. It was very pleasant to awaken to birds chirping and we had a close-up view as a couple hopped along the top of the gutter outside our window. We received a couple if suggestions for touring nice sights and were on the road for the day. Upon our return about 9pm, we had coffee and ice delivered to our room for a late night beverage. The château is everything I had ever thought one should be including the location. It is off the beaten path but then then that added to the lovely experience!
