A lovely hotel close to Sigiriya rock. Staff were friendly and helpful. Room was large, comfortable and clean.
We went to the Sri Lankan restaurant and this was a nice experience that was more like you had gone to someone’s house for dinner. No menu, but the chef was a local lady who came around with the wait staff to serve you. Lots of food that was all very tasty.

When we arrived the hotel didn’t have my hooking despite me having a booking reference and the booking being made three months prior. They took ages to sort it out.

The manager was obsequious to my partner and ignored me completely.

The hotel is lovely but was spoiled by a large group of cyclists staying who were disruptive and noisy in the beautiful hotel.

Amazing beautiful room with a private pool. Staff were so accommodating and wonderful! There were beautiful peacocks everywhere and the location was ideal to see all the things we wanted to see in the area. There was a restaurant with buffet and a la carte options that were delicious. It was very helpful to have a good food option each night on site when we returned from our day’s adventures. Overall, would highly recommend this hotel.

Disappointed in hotel facilities, limited space to relax outside of the room when it’s raining, also had rodent droppings in our room and kept awake by noise of either rodent or lizard behind our bed in one of the wooden chalets. The rooms were also damp inside. Place seems to designed for the short stay big tour groups. Spa was a highlight authentic Ayurvedic spa. Would not stay for more than 1 or 2 nights if visiting Sigiriya

This hotel lived up to the great ratings it has received...and then some. Every employee we encountered was warm and friendly. The breakfast buffet was outstanding, the rooms lovely. Best was all the elephant themed art work throughout the property. It was like walking in a modern art museum!

The hotel is eco friendly with a great view of Sigiya mountain. Pool is to die for with enough chairs for the size of the hotel. Lots of grounds to walk in seeing the many monkeys and wildlife!

Staff were friendly but could not converse well in English.

The service was extremely slow around the pool and in the dining area. Quality of food was poor compared to other hotels we have stayed in. In fact we visited the Heritage hotel for dinner one night which was far superior to what we had at this hotel. It’s a pity as the hotel itself is lovely.

Loved everything about this property, its location looking at Pidurangala and Sigiriya Rock was stunning. Plenty of food options.
Staff were super helpful and couldn’t do enough to please, constantly checking that everything was okay. They would arrange Tuktuk, private drivers and even check train travel for us. Would definitely stay here again

When you first walk up the steps to reception, the view just blows you away. Wonderful outlook onto Sigirya Rock with the infinity pool in the foreground. Our chalet room was large, cool and comfortable. The grounds were lovely, as was the pool and the spa. The food was mainly buffet and excellent. The staff were awesome. Very thrilled with our stay.

We stayed here with my family for 3 nights and the service was wonderful! Rooms were spacious and clean, the bed was very comfortable. Also not many bugs and critters considering where its located. Exquisite property; beautiful lobby with incredible views; the grounds are elegantly maintained per the natural environment. Rooms are large & comfy with great bathrooms. The oversized pool with views of surrounding area is magnificent; at night there are twinkling lights in pool floor which makes for magical swimming. We were there on full moon which was incredibly romantic. Food in restaurant is top notch. Look forward to returning for a longer stay! Thank you

An incredible hotel. You might book, like me, due to the location and the view of Sigirya, however you will not want to leave this hotel. Fabulous staff (Roshan at guest relations was particularly fabulous), and great facilities. The pool is amazing. To be able to swim in a such a huge pool and also have the view is a great experience. I stayed I one of the wooden bungalows, built out of recycled wooden packing containers. It was wonderful. Even the art was recycled, but in the nicest style!
The internet was the only slight let down.

This place is outstanding. I wish we spent more time here and used it as a base to see places like Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Dambulla and of course Sigiria. The resort is beautiful, rooms very spacious and well designed. Restaurants are good, however breakfast is badly organised. I would recommend Aliya to anyone looking to travel around this part of Sri Lanka.

Upon arrival I was shocked to learn that my airport transfer was not included in my hotel booking. I was ONLY searching hotels that offered airport transfers included in the booking, so I lost GBP 100 due to this hidden charge.

Then I checked into a damp hut where squirrels got in and hid behind cabinets chewing and scratching. I requested a room change and finally was able to rest when I was upgraded. Therefore, beware poor value for money and hidden extra charges that cost as much as my booking for one night only.

Fairly soulless hotel. Very disappointing experience. Not the standard I thought I was getting. It’s definitely a hotel for families. The room was a decent size but very unappealing. Very basic. Nothing to give it any character. On the plus side most of the staff were very happy and helpful. We particularly liked our server the night we ate in the Sri Lankan restaurant and the Head Chef was very good and listened to all we had to say. I wouldn’t go back but I’m sure it’s a great place for families with children.

We stayed here for one night, the room and facilities are amazing, nice pool overlooking the sunset and the mountains. Hotel staff is friendly and helpful. We also tried the spa but it was so-so, more rubbing than actually massaging (just not to our liking despite letting the masseuse know our preference), nothing bad but just a FYI if you are looking for a tension release type of massage this is not what they offer. Food was also just so-so. Want to try the Sri Lankan restaurant but reservations had to be made prior to 4pm so we did the buffet instead. There was a sign up saying that there’s disco and kareoke for the day but both were actually closed. Overall very pleased with our stay and will come back for sure.

Good breakfast spread but the floor at the bar and breakfast area very slippery floor. Management should do something about the floor before any causality happen!!!

Poor customers services. Waited long for staff to come and help to bring our luggage upon check-in and check out. Wasn't brief about restaurant opening time...when asked they told us buffet served at 7.30pm and sent us to go to the Chinese restaurant at the basement!!!!

Luckily, Chinese food was good and we had the whole restaurant to ourselves. Cook and serving staff were friendly. But resturant deco is so outdated.

Room is dim, should have at least light bulb with daylights instead all warm light. Insect flying in the room.

First of all I would say this is one of a best hotel in habarana.

Actually I booked only one night there. Once I arrived to the hotel, first thing I felt I should stay here at least two days.

The first impression was amazing. We were Wormley welcomed by the front desk and offered us welcome drinks and cold towels. I should definitely mention about the welcome drink. Because it was very unique and for the first time I experienced something like that.

While we are checking hotel GM Mr Wohara came and welcomed us, actually I would like to appreciate his attitude because may hotel managers use to stay in the office and they never speak to any guests who are arriving or saying the hotel.

Specially Mr Wohara gave us a free room upgrade as well. Actually I was never expected that.

The room is well maintained, comfortable and got peaceful surrounding.

Main thing that we saw the hotel is well maintained. Even every nook and corner is very cleaned.

I should mention about Mr deen from front desk. He escorted us to the room. While that he gave a perfect introduction about the hotel facilities and he explained about the room very nicely. He was very friendly.

For the dinner we came to the Chinese restaurant. Food was delicious. Service also good. The person how served us was very friendly and after having meal he asked about our comment about the food.

Breakfast also so delicious.

Us honeymooners thought the staff to be very welcoming and helpful. Arranged room earlier than our check in time. Room and bathroom was nice, spacious and clean. Great toiletries selection. No iron and expensive laundry service. Great selection of buffet food at the main restaraunt but same everyday during our 5 day stay. Would be better if there was a different selection each day. They have a chinese restaurant which had nice food. Overall i would give this hotel a 7.5/10

Upon entering this hotel you are blown away by the view! Stunning setting and wonderful infinity pool to enjoy it from. Bedrooms were diving, we LOVED all of the elephant themed art and decor! Service from staff, as was in every where we went in Sri Lanka, second to none. Only downside was in the afternoons when the bar got a little busy it took around 30 mins to receive your order. Unfortunately there was digging work going on during our stay, I get it has to be done at some point, however the noise did disrupt the peace of the poolside view. I would not recommend the spa - rooms were not comfortable and could hear the man in the next room honking up flem the whole time - not a relaxing experience. Oh and you need to book around 2 months in advance to get a table in the onsite Sri Lankan restaurant which meant we had to settle for the mediocre Chinese one on the first night (I think mainly there for the Chinese tourists) and the main restaurant on the second night. Final annoyance (not really the fault of the hotel) it was FULL of families with loads of kids, ranging all ages. Pool got very busy and shrieky at times as did the bar and restaurant.

Danushka and staff went out of their way to ensure every need was met. Sandanoli and Samal (?) provided exquisite Ayurvedic spa treatments. The BEST we’ve ever experienced! Forever grateful.

If a swimming pool is high on your agenda

If a pool is high on your agenda then this is it! Must be one of the best,suspended high overlooking the rock and jungle,50 mtrs long,just superb.
Its a resort spread over 26 acres ,rather long distances to lobby,pool and dining rooms.
The rooms are very pleasing,large and clean with balcony.Bathroom is very clean and all amenities work
Breakfast is more than anyone could ask for,catering to all nationalities.
Great hotel and value for money.

Best view of Lion Rock in Newly Opened Resort

Beautiful resort, amazing pool, great service. Very upscale and yet super friendly. They even made us a little breakfast to go one morning because we left before the restaurant opened. The view from the pool is spot on Lion Rock. This is a new property and in great shape. Their philosophy of staying green is evident in the whole resort. They support the surrounding village as well bringing in staff and helping with infrastrucure. We even played badminton in their indoor court which was fun.

Beautiful but checkin takes too long.

The check in should have taken 15 min. as there were plenty of people available to do it. However, their process of coming to you as you wait in the lobby stretched this out to 45 min. before I was in my room with my bag. There was little insulation between floors, and the noise from the upper level was crystal clear in my room. Other than these items, the hotel was beautiful and the staff was friendly and pleasant.

An exquisite hotel

This hotel is truly gorgeous. it is luxurious, refined, environmentally sustainable and it has an infinity pool which is truly beautiful with views to Lion rock. It is surrounded by lush greenery and offers a range of comfortable accommodation ranging from rooms to timber chalets nestled in the forest to glamping tents. All facilities are beautifully designed. Of course being a resort somewhat away from the village the prices of food and transport are a little higher but for a couple of days of luxury it is worth it. The hotel has won an award for sustainability and I was even taken on a morning bird watching excursion by the resident naturalist. Altogether an unforgettable stay at an amazingly cheap price.

We had a great stay at the Aliya and would recommend it ro our friends and family. The only regret we had was forgetting to bring our swimming costumes to enjoy the wonderfully located infinity pool!

Great pool, poor service

As this is a great base for a number of sites and attractions you may want to enquire or get some information. Forget email, they won’t respond. You may have more luck by phone. The rooms are fine but there are loads of small deficiencies like broken window blinds which they won’t fix. And be prepared for a really steap food and bar bill at the end of your stay; eating in the ‘international’ buffet restaurant keeps prices in check but it’s fairly rank and boring food. The spa and pool area are very good.

The infinity pool is a dream!

This is by far the best hotel we stayed at in Sri Lanka, well worth the extra expense when backpacking for a treat. The pool is amazing and the views of Sirigiya Rock are stunning. The staff are very kind and helpful and make you feel very comfortable. Rooms lovely, clean and luxurious. The food is outstanding, the breakfast and dinner buffets were to die for. Recommend the pancakes and waffles at breakfast and the green coconut sweets at dinner!
