All areas of the hotel were clean. The staff were very polite and helpful. The food was good, not excellent, it was buffet style but you didn’t get to plate it yourself. Good choice of drinks with All inclusive. Didn’t get to use the pools, only small but the looked good. We would probably book again.

Didnt like the fact that they didnt suppy water gym on 1 person in at a time, couldn't take towels to pool, no shampoo in bathroom, called down to fix the leaking water in toilet and no one came to fix it.
One light out in the room upon arrival and the fridge was leaking. There was also water on the floor had to put a towel down so my mum wouldn't fall.

Where do I start?! There was nowhere quiet to sit and relax in the evening, the only refuge (the roof patio) was locked for maintenance after the first couple of days. Coming in on one evening there was a full-blown disco going on in the main reception/sitting area. The elevators were out of service for several days, we were told to use the service elevator and shared it with laundry several times. The queue for breakfast started with waiting to be sat at a table, then more queuing for each of the food bars. It was still being handled as if Covid restrictions applied and instead of being help-yourself it was dished out by a busy server behind the covid panels. I had to ask 3 times for a lightbulb for my night light - seriously unhappy to be ready to drop off to sleep only to have to get out of bed to turn the main light off. No hair drier, drawers or anywhere to put my suitcase in my room. The bed was up against walls on 2 sides so all entry/exit to the bed was via one side which dipped alarmingly where it had been used so much. Tiny window with frosted glass, so the room was constantly dark. The heating was only effective after it had been on for ages and the bathroom never benefitted. It was awful.

Very good customer service, staff was attentive and helpful. Transport from hotel was very safe and convenient. Busses ran on time and on a whole everything was cost effective, especially the shop within the hotel. Also the hotel decor is fitting regarding the time it was built. There are mordern hotels in the area, but it is obvious these buildings have been built recently and cannot be compared to Bella Vista Hotel.

It's not a 4* hotel..
Hotel location and common facilities:
- The hotel has a bus stop near by but if you are looking for dining places, beach or activities you'll have to walk 15 / 20 min or take a bus / drive. There is nothing close by, except one or two convenience shops;
- The hotel as a whole looks old and outdated, like it had stopped in time
- Most of the time there was no AC on in the reception / lobby area or in the restaurant, so it got really hot
- The swimming pool is small and because of the huge wall that surrounds it, you get a lot of shadow in the afternoon (after 3pm)

Our room:
- It was located in the back of the hotel, seemed like an extra part of the building, given we had to use a different lift to get there;
- The room was not the one we booked, as it had kitchen and our initial one didn't. However, this kitchen was useless, because there was nothing to use it (not even a bowl or a fork). Actually the only thing we could use was the fridge that was super noisy at night, while we wanted to sleep;
-There were no blackout curtains, so at 6am you could get naturally awake by the sunshine. Even with the toilet door closed, one could hear water going down the pipes every time someone was using the toilet in the rooms above. The windows were old and all outside noise was heard.
- The bed was old and not comfy at all.
There was mold in the WC.

The breakfast was poor and the restaurant looked like a greenhouse so hot there

The hotel had a good breakfast buffet and dinner was reasonable priced I ate it once. I only stayed due to the good value per night and it been a 4 star, its not of 4 star standard in Ireland but I guess you dont need much to be a 4 star in Malta.

The hotel offered us everything we expected. We were half board and found the food varied and plentiful.
The room was clean and had a fridge and kettle,however no tea or coffee provided. The bed was comfortable.There was a hairdryer. Hot water was instant and always available.
The hotel has several bus stops around and is within walking distance of the sea front.
The staff were very efficient ,polite and friendly.
My only criticism is that our room had very little daylight but we didn't spend that much time inside!

This hotel is in a great location close to shops and promenade with an easy access to buses and other locations by car
The room was thoroughly cleaned everywhere including washing the floor and make the beds look pretty.
The breakfast was nice and I like the idea of being served rather than self service. This makes it more hygienic. Evening entertainment was great and the bar staff were really friendly.
Will definitely return.
Also liked the shop near the reception. Friendly lady served us and the prices are reseobable.

Water stopped working while i was in the shower, staff weren’t very helpful and frankly rude not telling us what was happening consider we were flying out in the morning had to buy a case of bottle water sending my husband out to atleast wash the soap off me was first told it’ll come within 20 minutes 3hours we kept trying to find out with no real update at least of they updated us properly then we could have looked at what to do water didn’t come back till the morning even then we had to use bottle water to wash our face as the water was really dirty and we all the reception staff say is maintenance will be notified but what answer do we get? Staff was so rude that once i called down as i couldn’t go down and i said i missed dinner because i couldn’t get out the shower and he just put the phone down on me. Really don’t recommend so avoid it.

Staff were exceptional. The hotel is a little out of the way from bars / restaurants / Activities. (Except for the park across the road). Also parking is difficult (it always is in Malta though). Sitting outside the front is very noisy due to busy road. The pool area is fine.

This is defintely not a 4 star hotel!

Check in Process is an absolute joke and the woman at the front desk was so incredibly rude (rest of the staff were great!).

The lift is so incredibly slow and there are frequent queues to go into the lift, especially around breakfast time. It is quicker to walk up 5 flights of stairs that wait for the lift at times.

Breakfast options are limited but quality of food was good.

Overall, this is defintely a 2/3 star hotel in a decent location.

We read quite a few reviews before booking at Bella Vista. In general, most of the comments were true (room cold, pool cold, poor selection of food, staff not that friendly....) However, there were some positive points (bed was comfy, room cleaned daily) This is definitely not a 4 star hotel, unless you just check boxes! More like a 2/3 star. There were only two lifts and one stopped working entirely, leading to multiple trips up to the 5th floor via narrow stairs. We asked for a second key card for a family room and we're simply told \"no, not possible\". Areas of hotel smelt very musty and in general, it is very dated.... In general, it all comes down to your expectations.... If you accept it is quite cheap, then don't expect too much. However, if you advertise a sauna, bbq area, heated rooms, liftS.... Then these should be functional.... Overall, I would not return :(

A very disappointing experience. We booked our trip in April 2019 yet when we arrived on December 28th we were told the hotel was fully booked and we would have to stay in a 3* that night. The other hotel was 15 minute walk away with luggage and although the receptionist halfheartedly offered transport, this took so long we ended up walking anyway.

Thankfully the substitute hotel (Topaz) was nice and we returned to the hotel for the remaining three nights without any issues. That was until our last night on New Years Eve.

Before we were due to head in to town our key card stopped working and the card reader started beeping loudly every 2 seconds. After calling the staff a security guard came to look at the door - and unable to solve the problem - gave us an actual key to open the door. When asked about the annoying noise the response was \"don't worry it will be loud anyway tonight being NYE\". As it happened when we returned to the hotel at 1am the partying had stopped and we were left to spend our last night struggling to sleep without anyone present to a) solve the problem or b) offer a genuine apology. Just what we needed before a long trip home the next day.

I notice one of the managers of the hotel frequently replies to these reviews. I wish they were more on the ball at the hotel as there were no attempts to communicate or apologise for our substandard stay.

The staff were polite and professional. The food was okay. The hotel room needs to have air conditioning, the hotel room was very hot. There was only a ceiling fan in the room. The hotel room was very clean.

The hotel has two lifts. One lift was already out of order and the other seemed as if any second was going to break down, as it constantly shuddered when it started and also when it stopped on the floor you wanted.

We weren’t sure what to expect as the reviews were very mixed. There is absolutely nothing wrong with this hotel. It’s clean, the staff are friendly, it’s value for money. One downside is that you have to pay for Wi-fi. Other reviewers had complained about the building work adjacent- it doesn’t affect the hotel and anyway The whole of Malta is one huge building site at the moment.

the hotel was ok the rooms were large and had everything we required the staff were not very freindly but sometimes this was due to language barrier. the food and beverage managger was rude and arrogant. a smile on the staffs faces would help. Good position on a main road and bus routes, out of the main tourist area, but close enough to walk to restaurants and other attractions. Spacious room, clean and airy, shame the balcony was overlooking the next door building site, which in Malta seems to be only an arm's distance away. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice, and the restaurant and the housekeeping staff was very helpful and polite. Good value for money overall.

There was no construction noise while we were there. The complimentary breakfast was robust. My biggest complaint was that, having to pay for WIFI was made even more frustrating in that only one device could be hooked to it at a time! One cell phone at a time, one laptop at a time ... very frustrating. If they are going to stick with charging for WIFI, at least make it open to as many devices as you have.

4 star hotel in Malta I think not, 2star at best. Hotel and rooms tired, staff not friendly or helpful. broken toilet seat all week. room staff never sorted it and were a constant pest at 7:30 -8 am in the morning. due to no available signs to leave us alone or make up room! .And, they forgot to put towels in the room. Very bad noise, from adjoining rooms, despite my complaints to the staff. 2nd rate entertainment at night (why it was not in the unused basement restaurant and in the lounge bar) Staff not trusted to handle the money if you want a drink You put money into a machine! Food not good, choice very limited, if it had not run out in the morning before you get there first thing.. Budget holiday deal with everything extra, Transfers, flight baggage priority seats if you can get them. Kettle if you use it tea if you use it. Building work being carried on next door from first thing in the morning, and building work being carried on inside, Ceilings being replaced, plaster work all over the place being trampled on into the carpets and very dirty throughout a horrible holiday experience.

1. The hotel bathroom is mouldy and can smell the mould all the time
2. The rooms have all got single beds and as a couple it’s difficult to sleep comfortably.
3. They cook Pork everyday and if you don’t eat pork like us, it will be a struggle. When they cook chicken and fish, it’s not cooked and the chef is rude when you ask for help.
4. Some of the staff appear timid and scared of management, which inhibits their performance.
5. Reception staff are unhelpful.
6. The room doors don’t always lock. Have had to call maintenance to fix it.
7. I got locked in bathroom for about 30min. As the lock was damaged.
8. Tv channels are limited, only one English news channel and didn’t work most of the time as the hotel apparently did not pay their subscription.
9. All in all, it it was not nice experience staying there. Certainly not 4 star. It was wrong choice for a honeymoon.

Inexpensive and functional.

I chose the hotel because it was inexpensive. You get what you pay for, I guess. The hotel is clean and there are lots of staff keeping it that way. But it feel old-fashioned (1970s decor, 1990s technology). I used it a base but spent most of my time in St George's Bay as I was attending a conference there. Reception staff were not exactly friendly but did their job OK.

Party in room at 1 am. Night manager very agressive and rude when he was asked to sort the noise out. Unbeknown to us, he was part of the party. The hotel was 15 minutes walk away from any resteraunts. No wifi unless you paid extra, same for pool towels and the key for the safe. Poor food. Dissapointing experience.

You get what you pay for

Excellent location, short walk from the beach and Buggiba square! The hotel was overall clean, breakfast was good but lacked variety.
Unfortunately our water stopped working several times when we were trying to get a shower or even wash our hands. The air conditioning stopped twice during our 4 nights stay.
You might think it’s a good price, but wait there is a catch, they want you to pay for WiFi per device per day. You have to pay for the safe locker in your room. You also have to pay for a towel for the pool. There were two single beds put together and one felt like a box spring! I guess you get what you pay for.

Poor bus service, lost my watch at hotel

We booked this hotel as It was a little cheaper then staying in the city center. The bus service into the city centre was decent but coming back... Awful. We waited an hour and eventually got a taxi for 20 euros back to the hotel.
Overall the staff are very helpful, Vince sells excursions and was lovely. We had one night staff we saw once who was beyond rude, it was shocking to a point as wondered if he was joking as he was that rude.
The hotel feels like a 3* but we we're happy with it.
Inside pool was not working. I used the outside pool, appears bigger in the pictures but still decent.
I did not enjoy the food at the hotel, tinned sausages for breakfast at a hotel I find poor. The bar food was basic burger and chips type but better then the hotel dining area.
There was a ridiculous amount of students at the hotel (appears to be a trip together) ... I'm fairly young but after a few days I wanted more adults.
Cleaning staff knock and walk straight into your room.. Was not happy about that.
The sad sour note, my watch went missing at this hotel. I clearly remember taking it off and leaving it on my dressing table and did not wear it at the trip at all as I didn't want tan lines!
On the last day when I couldn't find it I told thf reception staff, they have someone go up and look with me... Still no luck.
I asked for the police contact detail as I knew there was no way I misplaced it.

Very uncomfortable hotel

We were put out in an annex a block away from hotel. Between the traffic and AC unit we couldn’t sleep. We asked to be moved to the main hotel. They moved us to a room overlooking a wall. We were told that the AC was broken but would be fixed. It took two days and many trips to front desk. The pool was cold as well as the hot tub. I went to the inside pool once, it was scary. This is not a 3 Star Hotel. Not even a 2 Star.

No double beds!

The weather was great. Nice sunny and warm. Just the water was still too cold. The hotel does not have double beds, despite the fact the description on Hotels.com! A bit outdated decor, but clean and staff was polite. Building works outside the building were annoying in the mornings. There is a little shop with drinks, snacks and souvenirs - handy if you didn't get to buy them in town.

The breakfasts were not to bad, although nobody seemed to be able to set the toaster, and the staff behind the counter for hot food were surly and unhelpful. the whole hotel seemed in desperate need of a refurbishment.

great hotel, staff good, friendly, made a lot of effort for us. the hotel was clean and well fitted out. There are two pools one inside on lower level. The food was qood tasty and plenty of it though the adition of mushrooms/ tomatoes. would have been nice at breakfast time. There was a couple of not so good things myself and a couple of other guests were not happy about teens running back and forth to each others rooms slaming doors a lot on one occassion 21 door slams in less than an hr till me and another guest went out into hallway to stop it. The beds me and my partner found too hard but thet is a personal thing some like softer some harder. Overall though it was a good place and I have stayed before in their ''over flow or extention part'' there was no issues with kids there but the beds were hard for all of us and there were 9 of us so clearly the beds are hard. I would recomend it to others and As Ii have used it twice it must mean its fine.

Misleading and inaccurate portrayal of hotel

As an experienced traveller, I am able to offer a somewhat convincing evaluation, which is as unbiased as one can go. Undoubtedly, it's only right to be open and honest about an experience, as hopeful customers invest their time, money and efforts.

Positives: Towels and rooms cleaned (for free!)

Negatives: Where do we begin? The pictures. They are deceiving and fabricated. The property is far from glamorous, and in need of a major revamp. The spaces are actually smaller too, in reality

Upon arrival, met with a grumpy receptionist. Yes actually. Not helpful, minimal words to swiftly dismiss us. Felt unwanted

Parking- misled again. NO PARKING ON SITE. Look for street parking on a major running road (always full), or drive further down. The streets are dilapidated and unlit, which didn't feel safe to leave there

Which brings us to the locality. And streets. Situated in a run down part of the town, not in close proximity to anything useful really. Closest to shops or any 'life' is about 15-20 mins either way. At night, it is very dark, and dubious youths/ groups loiter around on street corners. Again, there is no streetlight

Wifi- There is a charge to use it! Wow, that is a first. Its slow too

Amenities- Generally poor and outdated. Pool/ tub dirty. Everything has a FEE!

Customer service- Shockingly poor. Only old people catered for

Rooms- Size really small, old. We chose room with 'good view', and got one facing a grass field

A bargain for what we paid. Not a 4 star hotel.

We paid very little for 4 nights accommodation. Based on this we got a real bargain. The hotel is clean and comfortable. The breakfast is okay albeit limited, particularly in terms of healthy options. The hotel is full of 'stereotypical Brits abroad'. So there is little local culture. However, the hotel is well located and the bus stop is opposite and it is easy to get around to see the island. The staff are very friendly (particularly the gentleman who runs tours). He was not pushy and went out of his way to help, even for matters that had noting to do with selling tours. This is highly refreshing and a credit to the hotel.

If you a looking for 4 star, and typical Malta then this hotel is not for you. But if you a looking for clean and comfortable, a good location and your basic needs met, then this is a bargain. I hope this review gives balance so potential customers can make an informed choice.

Four star not. More like four tidley winks.

The price was cheap cheap cheap. I would go again just for the accommodation. The dining was inadequate. If you want to start a diet, this is the place because you won't want to eat much. All in all I can't grumble. I did not go to Malta as a hotel inspector but the guests seemed happy enough, bless email.

New Year's stay

Booked b and b for a week commencing New Years Eve for my husband and I. We have stopped in the area previously. The hotel was a base to tour around the island again, purchasing a 7 day bus ticket for 21 euro at the airport. For us, the hotel served it's purpose. No problem checking in, room clean, breakfast adequate. A couple of times we sunbathed on the roof top terrace. We enjoy walking so the walk to bars and restautants didnt bother us....15 minute maximum.

Was reasonable value for the money

Hotel was on the outskirts. No bars or restaurants in the vicinity. I was all inclusive and the only complaint I have with the food was that it was boring. More or less the same choice at every meal. Pavements are in an atrocious state. I walked only on the road for the duration of the stay. The route to the town was full of litter giving the impression it was a dirty place. Local area very disappointing but this is not the hotel’s fault

Nice hotel close to the beach, park

Hotel is nice with an outdoor pool, they have a lounge area with activities every evening (live music, karaoke). They also have a travel agent who is very helpful with booking cruises and other activities even a shuttle bus to the airport. Room was big, lots of light.

The Hotel itself and staff were great,my partner and i were on bb, the first morning we went down for breakfast, i found it to be very plane and not 4 star standards at all, no tomatoes, not bacon, no fruit, there was oranges but they were cut into quarters which in my opinion is disgusting, my partner asked if she could have a scrambled egg, to the chef/cook behind the counter he said no we have these hard boiled egg and fried egg, the sausages were absolutely terrible, they were from the hot dog bottles that you give to dogs, pink inside, they were not grilled or fried they were just boiled. on our 5 mornings for breakfast we only went once that was the first day, and finally the staff in the restaurant were not friendly they never even said good morning nothing they just took our empty plates without even say a word, Bella Vista is history for me, this is the 3rd time i have stayed there but no more.

Good basic hotel on a tight budget

Bella vista is not a 4 star more like 2 I used this hotel as a budget and knew what to expect only the chefs are bad they treat you as if you are on rations you can help yourself to as much salad cereal but main food chef serves and they try to give you as little as possible asking for more they make you feel like it’s a crime and I don’t eat very much so if you are a big eater forget it and you get bacon one day and eggs next day you don’t get both the bar staff waitresses were good and reception the hot tub and indoor heated pool is one of the best I’ve been in I really enjoyed it they have a roof deck but don’t tell anyone it’s a trap in warm weather a lovely park a cross the road for all ages good areas for walking we walked it from this hotel to St. Julian it was fab but took a bus back as it is dark by 5pm in Malta in the winter the weather has been bad this year with ice cold winds and lots of showers and mainly cloudy an odd dry day with sun going down at3 it’s turning really cold I’ve cut this stay early as it’s too cold here and quite a few other people have done the same I was disappointed this year

Great hotel near Kennedy park

Bella vista hotel is 5 mins walk to qwara centre with shops pubs and restaurants it's opposite a fantastic park and by the sea it's got great entertainment great buffet food plenty of variety a hotel shop and next door is a bottle shop the bus stop is opposite and you can get a bus to all the major attractions.the buses are cheap only 1.50 euro to anywhere also the view from the hotel is fantastic you can see mosta and medina both on the must see list.the ferry to gozo you only pay on the return it was under 5 euro.use the hop on buses the red ones the best and cheapest we paid Steve at pirate shop near qwara palace hotel 13 euro both for our full malta and gozo tours cheapest on the island..if your free on Friday a must is the blues brothers at Murphy's in qwara..our favourites were valletta and medina and Victoria on gozo.a great hotel and a great experience.

We arrived at Hotel around 9.30 the receptionist was great packed lunch waiting for us as we had missed dinner. We went to the room emergency light not working and two single 3
beds, went to reception to complain have booked a double bed.don't worry will change in the morning.next day nothing happened. It took days to tell us we don't have double
beds. telephoned Expedia to complain booked double don't worry will get up upgraded to a superior room. went to reception next day gave us 2 rooms to look at exactly the same but bigger and larger waste of time moving. \I would have thought Expedia should have known this when we booked. All we heard all our holiday was guests complaining and taking 2 to 3 days to repair. Would not do to this Hotel again. Expedia please update your records accordingly. Also the bar on roof terrace has never been open. Plus building works going on next door.

4* humourous, 2/3* honesty.

This is more like an old fashioned Maltese family run hotel of the 80's, now to me that's not a bad thing as it was my happy time in life here in Malta, but we are now in 2017 and soon to enter 2018. I would describe this as a cheaper Budget hotel offering young travelers a great Island base, also the older longer staying guests a good standard hotel in a great location some reminiscent past Maltese hospitality, the restaurant, it's staff were faultless, they exceed and surpass expectations, I do love the hospitality Maltese people give and the new younger generation are still maintaining high standards. If you ignore the 4* which do not have any justification, and book it purely on as you see and read reviews you will not be disappointed, my advice is book through the cheap booking agents like Chevron and mercury travel to get the best prices.

Certainly not a 4 star hotel

This hotel was more 3 star than 4. The air conditioning did not work properly in the whole hotel especially in the rooms where it was unbearably hot.
The hotel was full of exchange students who were extremely loud and rude and who would play their music until the early hours of the morning. The hotel night staff did not seem experienced enough to deal with the situation which was very disappointing. The breakfast was satisfactory.
Vince who booked excursions was very nice and knew the area well unlike reception staff who could do with more customer service training. The cleaning staff were also extremely friendly. If I had known about the above I would not have booked this hotel.

convenient location and good value for money

Love the hotel. Small and friendly. Food is no worse than any other tourist hotel in Malta. Prices are better than most. Location convenient for exploring eh island and not too near the centre of the resort. Staff very helpful.

Good value hotel, beware of the poor reviews

I can understand some of the reviews if they were expecting a brand new 5 star hotel. This is a good value for money hotel. Yes it isn't brand new, yes it isn't 5 star luxury but come on what do you want for the price.
There are a lot of hotels in the area that are recently refurbished that may be better but there are a heck of a lot worse. The hotel is in a competitive market. The value for money it offers reflects this.
It is clean, it is comfortable. It isn't the most centrally located but the hotel does everything in its power to assist running a schuttle service to Qawra. It isn't that far to walk (about 20 mins).
The staff are friendly and the food is very good. Breakfast is more than ample with continental and english and there is no limit. It is fresh and replenished regularly. The evening meals offer excellent value for money; soup, salad, pasta dish, choice of 3 mains, desserts, chees and biscuits etc. I defy anyone not to be able to have an acceptable choice of meal.
The issue with this hotel is not the hotel itself it's the guests. Some can be rude, some clearly don't understand the protocol of buffet style (follow on the person being served don't push in font) but that is people for you.
It is frequented by a lot of long stayers (month - 6 weeks) but who wouldn't at theit time of life and the value it offers. The ambience is geared for these people. Get out and about you are not tied to the seat!
Overall a good value clean friendly place well worth considering

Decent hotel experience, room big and well equipped, but was a bit cold. Hot water for shower not always available. Food very good. Beware of bathroom doors having a lock problem, which appeared to be widespread, couldn't get in an hour before checking out, we were supplied with a pin (a paperclip bent straight) which worked. Lots of guests told us it was a fairly common experience. However if I had been in the bathroom, on my own, I wouldn't have been able to get out.

Room too small and balcony the same. We wanted a double bed and were given 2 single beds. Bathroom needs to be refurbish. Food was great break fast & dinner. Cleaners needs to be watched out.

poor quality rude staff

I did not enjoy my stay at this hotel at times the staff where rude to me on 2 occasions , on the website it says there was a gym and a sauna however when I got there the gym and sauna where closed due to maintenance , the internet was poor in the whole hotel . apart from the cleanliness of the rooms I would not recommend anyone to this hotel . It seemed to me that the Manger was more interested in stocking up the shop than the day to day running of the hotel .

We stayed in the suites no room in hotel, but we found it better, quieter, school party's in hotel. We used hotel as a base to sleep and eat, out all day, most of the staff we met were helpful, the housekeeper was nice and happy and even managed to open toilet door that kept jamming. It is a good walk to centre of town, there is a short cut if you go out back of hotel
