Disappointing/Outdated

This hotel has not updated their details. We arrived late at night by train-purely booking this place as it was 100m from the train station. Wrong. The hotel is now 1KM from the train station as the station moved two years ago. The description also states 24 hour check in. Wrong. We were greeted by metal shutters and a annoyed owner. The description also states the staff speak English. Wrong!

We didn't feel welcome here and the rooms were dated, dusty and uncomfortable.

No Canh Dieu in Ninh Binh

Please do not stay @ Cahn Dieu Hotel. So dirty, mouldy, smelly, hardest bed. Poke for 2 nights, we only stayed one.

The staff were nice but the hotel isn't that great

This hotel was not the best hotel. The staff were nice but the hotel was not that great. I know that it was on the cheaper end of hotels in this area but it was kinda terrible. My room was literally 10 feet from the train tracks and the train runs at night. The bed wasn't comfortable and was really hard. The room was run down but I was ok with that. The staff were nice and went out of their way but I feel that your money could be better spent elsewhere.

Perfect for a one night stay

Hotel owner was wonderful and friendly. Provided us with a free breakfast even though it wasn't advertised. Owner knew the local are and gave great directions. Hotel was perfect for the price, we just wanted a cheap one nighter so we could get up early for the boat ride. Be aware there are train tracks nearby bUT the trains did not blow their horns after 11 and the trains are only 5-6 cars long so they go past quickly. Good location.

Can do at Canh Dieu!

Very good hotel. Clean,well run with great staff/owners.
Very kindly let us stay late checkout to catch the late train.
Also free upgrade, we enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the world go by.

Dirty and damp - avoid!!

The first room we checked in to was very damp and had mouse droppings on the bed. We asked to move rooms and although the second room was not damp the bedside cabinet was full of mouse droppings and cockroaches. We ended up changing to a new hotel altogether as we were not happy to stay here. I would highly recommend The Vancouver Hotel instead, definitely worth the extra money!!

Good, but inaccurate listing

This is a nice, family run hotel with friendly and straight-forwards staff. Breakfast is nice.
We rented a scooter from the hotel, and they were very helpful with ideas for what to do.
The advert is misleading - the mattress is far from memory foam, there was no mini-bar, the tv was not HD, etc.
The hotel was still worth the money, but I think the listing should be changed to make it accurate.

No pleasant stay!

I cannot recommend!
Even though the staff was friendly and tried to be helpful, my room was not clean. Additionally, the neighbourhood is not appealing. I cannot recommend the hotel!

No 24 hr front desk

Well, we never actually stayed here. I chose this hotel because it specifically advertises a 24 hr front desk and close proximity to the bus stop. I would have contacted them beforehand to let them know our bus was dropping us off at 5am, but no email is provided for this hotel. After searching for this hotel in the dark for nearly an hour, we arrived to a very locked front door. We rang the doorbell for 30 minutes before we had to leave an find a different hotel. So if you are arriving late night/early morning like we did, do NOT BOOK here.

Cleanliness is not a priority

Pros: good breakfast in the morning; very helpful at front desk; 2 free bottles of water upon departure
Cons: We found mouse scat on the nightstand table and behind the bed a few hours after our arrival to our room. The front desk quickly changed our room and it appeared to be an upgraded room with more space and light. But, overall we did not feel comfortable in the hotel. We proceeded to find mouse scat near the stairwells; there was layers of dust in the rooms; the bathroom in both rooms did not feel clean. The hotel feels very old and like the owners do not care to maintain it. We could not wait to leave. The neighborhood is not ideal...the only options for food nearby are local street food places where no one speaks English and they all seem to close early - so bring your google translate!

Great hotel

The hotel is family run but all staff is very friendly and professional. They speak good English and have good advice on local sights and tours. They also offer cooking classes in the breakfast area for $5. The free breakfast is very yummy, make sure you try one of their noodle soups for breakfast. You can rent motorbikes for $6 a day, which is the best way to see all sights Ninh Binh has to offer.
Our room was spacious and as shown on the picture. Unfortunetely it smelled a bit humid, but there was a big window. The room was towards the railway station and there is quite a few trains comming through and they always sound their horn twice when they leave which is quite loud and can wake you up in the night. Even with closed windows.
We enjoyed our stay in the Canh Dieu Hotel and recommend it.

Over all good stay

Family owned hotel, the son and the daughter were very helpful, they provided us with all the info we needed and helped us book what ever we needed. Breakfest was good you could order what ever you wanted from the menu.They let us keep our room and didn't charge us since we were taking a late bus, that was very nice. Over all we had a good stay. Only negative thing was that the beds were a bit hard but after 2 weeks of travaling in Vietnam most beds are very hard.

We spent two great nights there, its close to the city centre without being too busy. On a calm street, we barely heard the train.
The rented us bikes and when we were gonna leave they gave us a ride to the train station free of charge. Breakfast was
good as well. I would stay there again.

Trying hard but makeover needed.

The staff are very helpful and attentive. A late room was provided free of charge when we had a late bus pick up. Scooters for hire at $6 a day were great.
The hotel is in need of modernisation and refurbishment. Wet room for shower is common in Vietnam but not convenient. Breakfasts were adequate at best.

Unbelievable value

This Hotel could be rated at 4star and only paid $10 for a big room. I even got a little breakfast included! The back rooms overlook the railway which can be noisy. The Manager was exceptionally helpful driving me to bus station and mediating about an outside restaurant bill

This hotel has a great staff who will help you out with anything. The rooms are a little dated and the beds will feel uncomfortable if you are used to more Western sleeping arrangements, but it's no bit deal if you're only staying for a few nights.

Hot water, good food, friendly staff

Located right across the tracks from the railway station. We stayed for one night - the room was clean, the water was hot(!!!), and the staff spoke amazing English. The food was a little more pricey than you might expect to pay elsewhere, but it was delicious - there's even bacon on the breakfast menu. Canh Dieu is very popular with tourists - there were many staying here. I'd happily stay again!

Great staff

The brother and sister who run reception will bend over backwards to help you. Ninh Binh isn't the greatest spot in the world, but as a base to explore the surrounding countryside this hotel will suit your needs. Really close to the train station too. Try out their food as well, good eats for a low price.

Great service

The hotel is situated right on the railway line. There are trains coming through the night and as they enter the station right behind the hotel the horn is sounded a number of times. Not good for sleeping, the front rooms are a little quieter. The rooms were clean but the beds were the hardest we have ever slept on. The tour run by the hotel was a non English speaking driver who just drove us to places, left us there to look around alone & picked us up. No explanation of what we were looking at nor any information about the region. Hardly a tour, just a driver. Would suggest you go with a tour company as the area is lovely but would have been better if we had someone to tell us more about the region. The young man & woman who run the hotel are really lovely and the food was really good. The town is very limited in what it has to offer & is great for a local experience. The markets were great & no hawkers. A real pleasure to wander through. Glad we went as it is certainly a unique place & a real taste of small town Vietnam.

Convenient, comfortable, great service.

I stayed one night but received a great service during my stay. The room was of average size, the plumbing sound (best I saw during my trip), air-con, bed and fans in good condition. Canh Dieu itself backs onto the Ga / Gare / Rail Station in Ninh Binh (the hotel is the highest building you can see nearby the station on the opposite side of the tracks, clearly signed) but has secondary glazing which blocks out much of the sound. There's a broad breakfast menu, cooked fresh (though no continental buffet etc), and lots of tour and hiring options available; taxi, scooter and bike hire or guided tours. I personally hired a single-speed bike which was solid and withstood a rain-soaked run of around 6-7 miles (not much, but bumpy). The greatest asset of the hotel is its staff; they offered me a shower when I returned to pick up my bags (despite having checked out already) and helped me out with tickets and passport difficulties. I only wish it had been possible for them to open up their roof terrace and allow guests to savour the view from it (the terrace/cafe/restaurant was closed off entirely). Thanks again Hotel Canh Dieu!

Excellent Service in Family Hotel

I have stayed here for two nights. I known there were lots of landscapes in Ninh Binh and I planned my tour when I was there. I have wanted to go to Tamcoc(like Halong bay) to take my experience on a small boat, I have booked a trip to Tamcoc but finally failed to make the trip. Hung (Hotel manager) has introduced me to another place that I have never knew, it was Trang An. It was a fantastic place. We were extremely excited and felt so right in choosing this place. In addition, we also climbed Mua cave with a panoramic view. After a hard day we returned to the hotel and surprisingly, the glass of cool water back to us with a smile again. Their services were great, you could only receive such services in the 4-5 star hotels but at much cheaper prices. It was worth to recommend.

Incredible service for a great price!

We have spent a wonderful holiday, friendly and full of happiness. The staffs were very friendly and they helped us everything, they booked our train tickets and they took us to railway station to go to Hue by their motors. After we left I realized I had forgotten a book that I like, I thought it was lost forever. Unexpectedly, I received Hung's mail, who runs the hotel, he informed me about my book, and he asked my hotel address in Hue for return. It was lovely. One family was kind and hospitable. I would be back here in my next trip.

We stayed for 2 nights in the cheapest room. The staff at the hotel really make the place, they recommended things to do in Ninh Binh that didn't break the bank and drove us to the bus station for free. Its definitely worth renting one of their motorbikes and heading out into the countryside.

Very clean and well located hotel in Ninh Binh

If you are basing yourself in Ninh Binh for visits to Cam Toc or the National Park then this is a clean hotel very close to the bus and train station in a non touristy town. The hotel staff who are one family go out of their way to ensure you have all that you need. We were given cold water when heading out for the day and even fresh rolls for our train trip back to Hanoi with a lift to the station. The rooms have air conditioning, small but clean bathrooms but the beds are very firm. As the hotel is on the train line there are a couple of trains that go by during the night but the rest if the time it is quiet. The menu is basic for breakfast but for the price it is superb value. The evening menu is decent and the food good, again excellent value. The hotel organized a driver for us for two days in a very good four wheel drive.

Le personnel est vraiment adorable et arrangeant bien qu’il ne parle pas un mot d’anglais et de français.
En revanche, je n’ai jamais vu un hôtel dans un si piteux état. Les photos de l’hotel Ne sont pas conformes à la réalité: pas d’électricité dans les couloirs, état des murs vétustes et sales, frigo moisi et mouches mortes à l’interieur.
La literie est inconfortable (matelas très dur)
La salle de bains est sale et mal adaptée.
Le linge (serviettes et draps de lits) ne sont pas propres. Ils y avait des taches. Forte odeur d’humidité.
Pour résumer extrement choqué que expédia ne régularise pas régulièrement les photos de ses hôtels partenaires.

Pas très bon emplacement

Hotel manquant d'entretien, maison familiale mais pas de relation avec le client . Le ménage laisse à désirer (toile d'araignée, cheveux dans la salle de bain , drap troué ...). Nous avons remarqué qu'a chaque fois que nous sortions, les propriétaires rentraient dans la chambre éteindre la climatisation ou si nous avions la fenêtre ouverte elle était fermé à notre retour.

Le couple de gérants est complètement perdu. Ils sont sympas mais ne connaissent aucun mot d'anglais ou de français.
Ils savent rien faire dans leurs hotel...
Ni réserver des transports ou activités, ni s'occuper du petit déjeuné, ni faire fonctionner la machine à carte bancaire, etc
Cette hotel etait une vrai blague !

Il y a parfois un réceptionniste qui parle anglais et qui sait gérer les réservations de transports et heuresement qu'il est la !

Hôtel crasseux !! Les chambres sont sales. Nous avions une salle de bains minuscule, moins de 3 m2 ! La douche était entre le WC et le lavabo mais tellement serrée que tout était trempé a chaque fois !!! Hôtel nul.

Personnel gentil, petits déjeuners excellents, chauffage dans la chambre s'il fait froid (rare au Viêtnam). Près de la gare et de la station de bus. Le train passe derrière l'hôtel mais n'est pas dérangeant de nuit. Ascenseur. De bons restaurants à quelques pas et de belles activités à faire à environ 20-25 km.

Leider nicht zu empfehen. Wir hatten 2 Zimmer. Beide mit Schimmel an der Decke im Zimmer und am Ventilator im Bad. Klima defekt (wohl auch besser, denn wäre bestimmet auch Schimmel zu erwarten). Fenster nach außen nicht zu öffnen und sonst zum Flur. Dusche kleckerte vor sich hin.

옛날 기차역 뒷편에 위치. 위치는 좋으나 기차역 뒤쪽이라 앞쪽보다는 조금 불편할 수 있겠네요.
시설은 좋지는 않습니다. 오래되고 따뜻한 물은 잘 나오지만 화장실 자체는 좁고 불편한 점이 있네요. 근데 가격 대비 생각해보면 괜찮습니다.
다음날 체크아웃하고 닌빈짱안 다녀와서 밤기차 타야되는데 덥고 땀 엄청나서 얼마정도 내고서라도 샤워할 수있는지 물어봤는데 그냥 무료로 빈방에서 샤워할 수 있게 해줬습니다. 직원들도 친절했구요.
조식은 메뉴중에 고르는건데 베이컨과 계란선택했는데 양이 넘 작아서 별로였지만 음료로 커피주문하면 바로 내린 쓰어다 마실수 있어서 좋았습니다.
저렴하게 하루묵기에 괜찮은 호텔입니다.
