the front desk staff were not welcoming not friendly but under stress, there was water on the floor of the lobby and all the way to the elevator which is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Parking at the rear at the hotel is pitch black at night which attracted \"strange people\". Beach view was alright but not great since we were on the second floor. This is an old hotel, so no smart tv, 2 roaches and fault odors in the corridors and lobby area...they charged a resort fee which seems to be bogus for what you actually get. Check in was very late 4pm and checking out too early 10am. I am not sure how or when they got the reviews or stars i saw online which again was not what we saw while there. This is a 1 to 2 stars hotel in a less than desirable area, pricing and the fact that beach access was right there made it the whole ordeal bearable but we will not return.

Housekeeping only took out our trash the 5 days we were there and I think brought towels one day! They never made the beds or anything out of the way! The guy at the front desk on check in with the braids was EXCELLENT! He values customer service and he loves his job! He went above and beyond to help. My husband has back problems and he helped get the luggage cart on the elevator and to our room! We only saw him on check in day but he was exceptional!!! The hotel was dated and the rooms as well but you can tell they try to keep things tidy! I would definitely stay here again. The cafe was decent it wasn’t anything spectacular. The indoor pool was nasty, hair and junk in it but the outside one was great!! It was great to be able to walk down the stairs to the beach!! We had a great time and can’t wait to be back!!!

I don’t even know where to start. First, I booked a weekend stay for me and my wife at this hotel for our anniversary. When we arrived and got our keys, and went all the way to the 7th floor, the keys didn’t work and we had to go all the way down stairs to have them fix it. When we finally got into our room, everything seemed clean until we started walking around barefoot and our feet became black. The door to the balcony was so hard to open so we barely got to go out there and enjoy it due to the hassle of opening the door. The toilet was so wobbly when you’d sit on it. The bath tub was hard to turn the water on. Just janky problems. Which added up. Not worth the money. On top of all these issues, when we asked for anything (ie. Towels, a trolly cart to haul our stuff down, etc). We were basically told they were all in use and the towels weren’t available. They’d give us no alternative options or anything. It was pretty much, “yeah I don’t know what to tell you,” energy. Please save your money.

Worst place we have ever stayed Dirty bathtub had hair in it. Sheet had fresh stain. Floor was dirty. Room was old and musty. Mattress was very hard, sheets were scratchy. We reserved 4 days, left after 2. Lost money as there was no refund. But just wanted out of there. Expedia had this place as an 8 rating, NO WAY!

The staff were super! Friendly & helpful. The property is great & directly on beach, the pool deck is great but the outdoor shower was not working nor was the foot wash to rinse sand off after the beach. Had to wear sand covered shoes/ clothing through the halls and elevator up to the room to rinse off the entire family. There’s no complimentary breakfast and unfortunately the Cafe on site does not run on a regular schedule (schedule posted but was repeatedly unexpectedly closed throughout the week we were there) so counting on the Cafe to purchase meals is not really an option. Guest laundry was very nice and very well priced. Expedia room description advertised a couch in the room we reserved but only got a small chair. So have a plan if banking on a couch. Good place to stay, would use again for sure

Been coming to this location for 8 years, so I did not think to check newer reviews. Always loved this hotel, but this year we were very disappointed. The room next to us had a big white dog who had fur all down the hallway and chunks in the elevator. The room was dirty and had hair on the towels, floors, and vanity. The outdoor shower by the pool did not work, the ice maker did not work. The cafe was closed, the pool was dirty, and the balcony door would not open and close easily, we had to push it open and closed using all our weight. When we looked at it, we found the glass was being held in with duct tape. The kicker was when we were watching tv one evening, a German roach crawled across the ceiling. As much as I hate to say it, this will be our last year at this hotel.

Stayed here last August and it was great - the woman who was very helpful (front desk) is no longer there.
Front desk now - no comment. Needed attention on property taken quite casually. Housekeeping and general staff - very good, friendly, helpful..
Asked for a repair and we were basically told item could be replaced, but suggested we just live with it (by a maintenance guy).
We recommended this place to many people, but will probably not stay here on June trip (we live in Florida, but go here for specialist/medical visits).

I don’t normally write negative reviews, but after seeing so many great reviews for this property, I was completely shocked by our actual experience.

We stayed for 6 nights, and the service was incredibly lacking. On day 3, we received a call at 11:00 PM stating housekeeping would arrive the next morning. Understanding they only clean the rooms after 3 days. We went out for the entire day, but when we returned, the room hadn't been touched. Throughout our entire trip, we constantly had to beg for clean towels, only to be repeatedly told there weren't any available. We finally managed to get four towels on our last request. I also had to ask for fresh sheets and changed the beds myself. Because of the beach location, sand easily tracks in, but I had to ask for a broom to clean our own floors; thankfully, an off-duty employee was kind enough to help me find one. To add to the frustration, our key cards constantly deactivated, and we spotted a roach on our door (thankfully, just the one).

Pros:
Beautiful beachfront location and an amazing view.
The pools were fantastic for the kids.
The beds were very comfortable.
Having a kitchenette was great, though it was bare-bones and we had to buy our own utensils.

The property itself has so much potential, but the lack of basic housekeeping and amenities really put a damper on our Daytona trip. But overall we had a great time!

Well our visit had its ups and downs. First of all we had a balcony room, we had to call about the sliding glass door it was very hard to open and close they did work on it so it hit better. One of those the elevators went out several times and that was terrible long wait with only one elevator. The had an ice cream machine but it was out of order the 3 days we were there. We asked the house keeping maids for more towels and we were told in a rude way she didn't work on our floor. We mostly will look for a different place next time to stay.

Room door 'stuck ' and was hard to open Balcony sliding door didn't fully close, gap from top to bottom about 1/8\". Phone did not work to call desk or otherwise.
Key card for room door stopped working and took too long to rectify (3 retries, none worked and THEN staff actually investigated what was happening, rather than make a new set of keys, which ended up not working. Was not happy about spending an hour going up and down to the front to deal with it.
Asked for towels, needed them replaced due to a spill we cleaned up. Had to ask 3 diff times throughout the day and never received them. We ended up getting them from a cleaning lady/cart we happened to see. Very expensive room. Stayed in a condo just a block away with much better amenities, a bedroom, kitchen, and w/d at a resort with 3 pools a lazy river and waterslide, on the beach, for 4 nights for only 200 more than this 650 3 night stay.

While this was a reasonably price stay for an oceanfront venue, we would have been happier spending more money elsewhere. The room was reasonably clean upon arrival but they only clean every other day. Sand on the tile floor is a problem and trash builds up quick. We only got one towel each for our 3 day stay there never any available when we requested more. Pet friendly but the smell of dog permates the air. TV remote only changed channels and volume, we had to get out of bed to turn it off. Shower water was just lukewarm. Plus we were charged an additional $8.00 a day \"Resort Fee\". The only ammenity was swimming pool, which was well maintained. We had to use ice in the refrigerator to keep drinks cold.

The property is fully non smoking so if you smoke you can not smoke on the balcony even and must go out to the parking lot. Typically the balcony is fine. This was not mentioned in information online and would have affected where we stayed. The phones aren’t connected and you can’t call the Front desk. A key card quit working. My friend went to front desk and had it replaced. That one didn’t work either. So I went down and asked them to address the issue. They made me 3 more and sent me on my way. They didn’t work. Did this 1 more time. I feel they should have handled it and not made me or us spend hour+ going back and forth. Lectures us on keeping cats away from phones which we knew, and 1mention is fine but to keep telling us and saying it’s the problem was crazy. We knew and mine still worked anyway. It did get fixed. Our sliding door did not shut entirely, there was slways a small crack between door and frame and our entry door stuck and you had to push very hard to open and be sure to pull it closed and check it latched. Always it took a couple tries to get it opened before key access timed out and we had to rescan the key card. Had to request new towels 3times and ended up getting from a cleaning cart. Denied late checkout, which is only mildly irritating and wouldn’t mention if not for the other issues. Decent place, with issues, but at $200+ a night, very overpriced. Won’t stay here again.

manager helped husband look for missing hearing aids in the lobby trash, not found. He alerted his whole team to be on the look out for them. Husband later found them after they slipped out of his pants pocket while removing his shoes, tucked under a bed pillow, he had them balled in a tissue because it was raining & he didn't want them wet & short out, God was watching over him, @ $5000 for a new set, I was ready to leave the husband @ the hotel & drive off! On a 2nd note, TV stations were lacking enjoyable viewing, like the news. I get it, @ the beach, but we still wanted to unwind later in the evening

Stay was okay. Rooms need updating. Faucet in shower was nearly falling off the wall and leaking water; rust and water damage throughout room. Door molding that secures chain loose and not secure, door frame broken appearing as though someone tried kicking the door open.

It is a plus that there is an indoor pool and a good refrigerator. Cost entirely too much for one night. In my opinion it looked like a spring breaker’s retreat

This was my first time staying at Tropical Winds. It was pet friendly, and that was a bonus, so I decided to load up my best buddy, and ride over to Daytona Beach and give it a try. My room was very clean and comfortable. The bathroom had a huge counter with lots of space. There were 5 large drawers in the room, so a good amount of space for clothes. There was a cute table with 2 chairs, and a nice large desk with a rolling chair. It also had a kitchenette with an oven, stove, full size refrigerator/freezer, microwave and a sink. The view of the ocean, from the room, was spectacular. The property, itself, was clean and comfortable. All the employees I encountered with were friendly and helpful. I especially liked the young lady (I’m sorry for not getting her name) with the gorgeous, turquoise, hair that worked at the front desk in the evenings. She checked me in when I arrived and was so informative and helpful. She gave my dog a treat the moment we walked in, and then she actually sat down on the floor and interacted with my kind of skittish and anxious dog. I thought it was incredibly kind of her to spend some time with him. 😊 I had a nice time. I will definitely be back!

Our second room was better but the schedule to clean our room was terrible. Moved to the new room on Sunday and we did not get any room cleaning till Thursday. Had to beg for bathroom towels all week. The only bright spot was Kyle who did his best to assist in anything.

I have stayed here multiple times and it has been good. This time room was not the cleanest, indoor pool was closed, another guest had a screaming fit in the hallway outside my door because a maid walked into his room at 8:30 in the morning. They were kind enough to let me get an extended check out, but tried to overcharge me until I insisted on them charging me the amount that their website stated. I checked out on Wednesday with my bill paid in full and by Friday they had charged me for staying Thursday and Friday, which I did not. When I called to have it fixed they said only the general manager could fix it and he was busy with customers. I would think charging someone’s card twice equaling over $200 would be a big deal but apparently not to them. I won’t be staying again in the future.

I have mixed feelings about my stay. On one hand, the staff was wonderful; they truly tried their best to resolve the issues we encountered. However, the property is in desperate need of a serious update.
Our room was unfortunately quite dirty—specifically the floors, which needed a deep scrub. While the maintenance team did fix our TV issues, it took until the third day of our stay. Additionally, the kitchen was poorly stocked and lacked basic dishes and pots. The location is excellent, but until the rooms are renovated and cleaned more thoroughly, it’s hard to fully enjoy the stay.

Pro's: room was clean and smelled good, parking lot felt safe, good price compared to nearby competitors, dog friendly, on the beach.

Potential areas of improvement: To sum it up, they need more staff, we waited ~20minutes at the front desk with 2 other families waiting to be checked in. It was after 4pm and the rooms weren't ready. When the gentlemen finally came to the front desk, it turned out he was trying to help catch up on laundry <3. The dog fee online indicates $20 but they were asking for $70 at the desk upon checkin- this feels like a huge discrepancy considering I chose this venue due to what i had believed was a reasonable dog fee, likely wouldnt have booked if i knew it was $70

The staff was mean, had an attitude and would not even look at you. Check in was at 4 and did not get a room till 6:30. Staff did not apologize or offer any accommodations since I paid for a full night but technically did not get a full night. No entry from pool to beach. Upon checkin, the guy at the desk never smiled or greeted us, just asked, “Are you checking in?” He seemed overwhelmed, but not really friendly at all. At 12:15am we were wakened by someone sliding an advertisement into our room doorframe! How does this even happen? Do the side doors to the building not lock? My girlfriend was scared and she highly encouraged me to not confront the person. I was told in the morning upon checking out to notify the manager, “They may want to know.” I was appalled that they were not only aware of this, but appears to be an ongoing problem!! The room was adequate.

When we arrived the room and kitchen were very clean. But soon realized the hotel was not what we expected. There weee signs that due to being Eco friendly the room would be cleaned every 3 days. We were there for 5 and the room was never cleaned. If it was not for us emptying and taking out our own garbage, making our own beds and cleaning the sinks ourselves, it would have not gotten done at all. There was one ice machine for all 8 floors and it was in the lobby. If we wanted clean towels, we had to “turn in” our wet used towels to the front desk first,to show we were not stealing towels.
The view of the ocean was beautiful and most of the employees were kind and helpful, however you could tell their hands were tied by management’s directive
The cafe on sight serves delicious food and the servers were very friendly

We got there at 2:30 to check in and was told that our room was not ready but to come back in an hour......which is fair, technically check in isnt until 4pm......came back still not ready. There were other people who were also waiting to check in.....no explanation was given but just to come back later or get our money back and go somewhere else.....we didnt get checked in until 630pm. And then the clerk said there was a problem.with my payment and it didnt go through and that i would have to contact expedia?????? I gave him the same card i used on expedia and it went right through??????? The entire property needs updated, elevators smelled like Marijuana, and the steps out back still have not been fixed, there were several cars in the the parking lot that didnt have tags and had people hanging out. Didnt feel very safe. Not sure if we will stay again ,we love the location on the beach!

Weve stayed here many times over the past few years and feel like the hotel in general isnt as nice as it used to be.

The smell of weed was absolutely horrendous throughout the whole hotel. Hotel policy stated no smoking in the hotel! We were traveling with our son and grandson. Our grandson got headaches from the smell, nauseous and wouldn’t even use the indoor pool because of the smell! I myself have an allergy to weed so I had itchy, watery eyes, scratchy throat, sneezing, coughing and congestion. Ours son’s shower did not work when he went to use the shower the next morning so he had to come to our room for himself and grandson to shower. He did place a work order and it was resolved.
Overall the only thing that is nice is that the location, beach access, pets allowed and the views of the ocean. I would not recommend to any of my family or friends to stay at this location. We were quite disappointed.

The worse place I ever stayed They take your money first then say your room not ready and don’t know when it would be Three hours after check in time Very nonchalant, oh well vibe No towel or rags how about no linen for room or pool towels Pillow case had fresh lipstick/ makeup floor wasn’t swept tables wasn’t wiped down bathroom had much sand on floors So Room wasn’t cleaned toilet sit twisted had lines through it water took very long to go down Elevator broke Any questions they had excuse for it didn’t get in the pool seem they put a lot of chlorine but didn’t clean it.luckily I brought all those things even clean supplies Cleaned and disinfected my own room Forgot bring linen Did go buy what I needed. Stay far away from this place. My grands enjoyed the beach the walks park and food Shout out to Angelics diner

Our stay here was mediocre. The building and room appeared fairly run down but was liveable. All of the staff were very friendly. I loved that we were right on the ocean. There was ample parking and lots of stuff nearby for entertainment and shopping.

We booked here because of the kitchenette, which was basically useless to us, there was nothing to cook or eat with. There was 3 plates, one tiny pot and barely any utensils - we ended up having to buy pots, pans, plates and utensils for our stay.

The patio door in our room was ancient, extremely heavy and did not roll. My spouse had to open and close it for me and the kids because we couldn’t.

The outside pool was not heated at all; it was freezing cold.

In terms of cleanliness, the place isn’t that bad; the housekeepers definitely do a good job; however, it doesn’t appear as though regular deep cleaning or maintenance is done the rooms to ensure all the little things are kept up.

Room not available at check in time and still not available by 4:15 so we requested a comparable room. View was very nice, but room needed proper cleaning. No towels, asked for twice but never received prior to check out. Lacked adequate staff. Property is older and in need of good cleaning and repairs. Will not stay again and would not recommend.

Top of the tables were sticky with stuff spilled on them on the balcony. Remote control for the TV was sticky. Windows were not cleaned at all. Could barely see through them. Black lint on the clean white bed sheets. Balcony door would barely open and close. There was a film in the water of the indoor pool. The bedside lights did not work or The electrical outlet to charge your phone bedside. We will not be back

But all the staff was very nice. That's about the only thing good I have to say about our stay.

I was only here for one night, but it was a nice room. The king bed was comfortable and clean. The front staff were slammed when we checked in, but still friendly with everyone. The fact that it's probably the only hotel that still offers free parking, one vehicle, is an amazing perk!

Stay during bike week, March 2026. The rooms don't seem to be cleaned as well as they used to be. And I've stayed there since 2018. They're overall hotel was very clean and neat. The parking for the bikes have changed , and that makes very little parking for all of us. There's no control over the music that is played in the parking lot and I think there should be!!!!! it's very disturbing and very disrespectful of the people staying there.

Customer Service is Excellent but this hotel can't be rated 4 Stars! It is a very old building in OK shape. Room had electric issues as well as the TV. Sofa bed was matrix was stinky and stained. King bed was Ok but not as expected. This hotel needs attention and care. It is good just if you don't find anywhere else to sleep!

The hotel was much easier to find this time around since they have a new, visible sign. Check-in was a breeze and James at the front desk was a really nice guy. The room was just as amazing as the last time my mom and I visited. Spacious, fulll kitchen with oven, stove, fridge, microwave. We loved the oceanfront view with balcony but it was just too cold to spend much time out there. Upon leaving, there was an issue with the elevator so we had to walk down the stairs from the 8th floor, but thankfully I had taken down most of our stuff a while earler. Not a big deal, things happen but it was a little inconvenient for my mom, but she toughed it out! Will definitely stay here again and highly recommend.

The hotel staff seemed disengaged once they realized I used Expedia. They said I would receive a call when my room was available, but that call never came. When I call them, it when to voice mail, and I never received a return call.
The upper floor and standard King room I requested I did not receive. There were no hand towels or washcloths in the room.
