After a month in NZ, this was probably the nicest place we’ve stayed. It felt like we were visiting a friend’s home, instead of staying in a hotel.
Sitting room cozy, kitchen modern, fully equipped and clean. Hosts very friendly.
Close to town which wasn’t too touristy.

Room was adequate but small. Patio area for Blue Room was on walkway to the pool so no privacy and a bit noisy. Common areas and kitchen were very nice. Convenient and good location for walking to town.

Overall, we enjoyed our overnight stay in this lovely old setting. Rooms were older, with the drawbacks of such history (smaller room, slightly musty) and the one big weakness of intermittent hot water!
But there were compensations - a really well appointed guest kitchen and lounge area, where you can prepare your own meals. This was perfect for us, to make our own healthy breakfast.
Overall, we would recommend it, but be careful of the hot water in the shower in winter!

The Lodge is charming and our room (the Gold room) was spacious. Lady who welcomed us in was delightful and very helpful. The whole place could do with a thorough deep clean though - the hot tub actually had piles of dirt in it.

With screaming children overtaking the pool for the entire afternoon and late night revellers still shouting loudly at midnight, it was not a pleasant stay to say the least. Very very disappointing especially for the price we paid for our room.

It's a beautiful historic building and nice hosts. Beautiful communal lounge and amazing communal kitchen.
As a solo female traveler it's hard to make use of these communal spaces at times.
It is easier in a backpackers where many people are on their own and it's a hive of activity you don't feel in spotlight. When i arrived there was a man and woman having loud conversation in kitchen area which I could hear clearly from my adjacent room and it put me off going in to make food. Also arriving at night and not knowing area would have been nice if there were amenities there for purchase.
Also please supply real milk!
I think this is an excellent place for a group to stay. Less so for single traveler

It is always nice to be greeted at a place you have never stayed at before with a smile & kindness. We loved staying here. The family suite was spacious and perfect for us (3 adults & 2 kids). The shared lounge and kitchen were beautiful and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool and spa. Highly recommend Bamboo Warkworth nearby (yummy Asian cuisine with lovely people to greet you there too)..

What a fantastic place. The family room was awesome and the shared kitchen lounge area is wonderful. The pool and spa were enjoyed by our party. Plan on staying again in summer so we can really make use of the lovely bbq area. Hosts were lovely and really looked after us. Loved this place.

Major Mold & Maintenance Problems.

Mold throughout the entire room! The bathroom was bloomed out with mold so bad that the ancient wallpaper was peeling off exposing more mold and mildew! The shower curtain needed cleaning as it was moldy/ mildewy. The frint drapery was moldy all over the backing. Th cleaning in general lacked big time. We shoukd have left immediately when we arrived as the pool was nonfunctional and maintenance was non-existent! Way overpriced fir a sh#! hole.

This is similar to a heritage building and is a charming lodge. The staff were super helpful and friendly. Tidy and pleasant, very central too. It is an awesome base for excursions into Matakana, Snells Beach for wineries, farmer's markets and beaches. Whilst the staff did their best, winter with not very functional heating was a bit inconvenient.

When we arrived we were informed our booking had been lost between the hotel and Wotif - yet the hotel had received our payment! As the hotel was fully booked - the hotel rebooked us at a cheaper hotel down the road (and no offer to refund any of our funds for being moved to a far cheaper hotel). We rang Wotif to complain - and spoke to someone in a different hemisphere who offered us a $25 credit from Wotif - yet 3 days later we have heard nothing from Wotif.

The staff were just lovely, the lounge is beautiful and an enormous well equipped downstairs kitchen, whilst we had our own kitchenette in our family suite. It was warm and cosy with plenty of bedding. Cons were definitely the road noise and thin walls which owing to the age of the place, is unavoidable, so it was a bit loud. However the price reflects that, so all in all we have no complaints.

We had the blue room which has an en suite. The toilet pan is small and there is very limited leg room in front. Would be difficult for those with larger bodies to use. There is a toilet down the hall way which is roomier.

The guest kitchen and lounge are very roomy and well furnished. Everything is spotlessly clean.

We had a wonderful experience at the Warkworth Lodge. The kitchen and common areas are fantastic. We appreciated the ready access to coffee and tea as well as the ability to use refrigeration and all the kitchen equipment you could need or want. The pool was very nice too. Michelle at the front desk was terrific! She made us feel very welcome. She provided us with many great recommendations. We were so happy we stayed at the Warkworth Lodge and we highly recommend it for others.
