Odd layout of room with WC separate and no sink to wash hands. Pillows could be more comfortable, were far too bouncy causing neck pain. For a 4* it’s a shame there was no small bottles of water in the room. Even some 3* hotels add complimentary water. Furthermore, the fried eggs and omelettes were cold at the breakfast buffet. Keeping them heated would resolve this. The breakfast reception notice board says ‘Please wait here to be directed to your table’ - but then you’re left there searching for a table, and some tables you’re not allowed to use. Would be nice if they told you which tables to use or take you to suitable tables. Other than these, I like Van Der Valk but this particular one was a bit off compared to our usual experience. Very modern and new hotel and great staff, just some odd things as explained above.

While I realize the property is still under restoration, it would have been best to put effort into getting the lift functional (I have mobility issues and stairs are a difficult task).

Nice hotel but very noisy during renovation

Lovely staff at this hotel and a nice facility but unfortunately too noisy to enjoy my stay. Renovations are ongoing and I was awoken before 8am one morning by furniture being thrown from the second floor into bins below. Noise was very bad throughout the day as my room was one of the closest to the wing being renovated. To add on, I was directly below the fitness centre which was quite loud. We also lost use of the lift after the first day due to the construction.

I would not stay again. Wasn;t able to relax or sleep well.

I have stayed at this hotel numerous times in the past 10 years or so and it never disappoints. The service is consistently good, staff are friendly and helpful and the amenities excellent. The food is always of very high quality and the bar is comfortable and relaxing after a hard day.
A recommendation - book a 'Comfort Plus' room, overlooking the gardens, these rooms are far quieter than the rooms at the front of the hotel that although soundproofed, are overlooking the Autobahn.

Excellent hotel along the highway. I wished I could have tried the facility’s different offerings like the restaurant. I believe they even have a spa. Should I be in the neighborhood I would definately stay yhere again! BTW - dog friendly!

Brilliant modern hotel. Just off the motorway. Good when travelling in a car. Free outside parking. Very large double room with minibar and excellent bath and shower unit. Bar and restaurant have great food. Only thing I didn't like was the lack of light in the public spaces it was so dark you could hardly see. Receptionist had to be almost interrogated to give info on Internet information. It was very hard to find my way there and back as the motorway turnoff was closed due to roadworks and very little help with diversions (mid July 2013) should be finished in a few weeks

This hotel was very convenient to the highway - but the noise would be heard if you went to bed early. This was the largest room I have ever had in Europe at this price point and they had washcloths in the bathroom. We ate supper at the restaurant and it was very good and had some dishes with an Asian touch (most were typical German fare). My father had a shrimp with curry risotto that he really liked. The food prices were average. This hotel is not that close to town or anything to walk to. Curiously, around the hotel is a pasture and there were 2 cows that looked like they were from the Middle Ages - shaggy brown with horns. They were fun to watch from the balcony (which had 2 chairs per room). I would highly recommend this hotel if you are driving. While I was on vacation, the room had a big desk that would be nice to work from.

Melle - near the border of Germany and Netherlands

We arrived late afternoon to friendly service. We had driven through from Berlin and it had been a long trip so it was nice to have large, airy, clean rooms. Beds were comfortable, bathroom was huge! We are a family of five - 3 teens, so had booked two rooms which the staff had considerately put us close together. Restaurant at night was great - food was delicious and served promptly. Staff were attentive. Parking was copious and so we were able to park close to the rooms, and there were ramps for easy luggage hauling or those with wheelchairs. Did not stay for breakfast as we had another long drive and it was a little pricey. For one of my daughters the highlight was a little enclosure to the right-front of the property which housed 3 sheep, 3 goats and two long haired cows. She is an animal lover and these were easily accessible over a small fence. Very tranquil setting for those who want to overnight, stay for a weekend or just have a nice retreat. It is just off the main autobahn so you need to make sure you take the right turn into the hotel otherwise you end up back on the autobahn - our trusty GPS helped us on the way!

Kamers zijn mooi gemoderniseerd en hebben fijne bedden en dito sanitair. Prima uitgebreid ontbijtbuffet. Hotel beschikt over 4 snelladers voor elektrische auto’s. Het zou helemaal super zijn als ze ook nog een aantal normale oplaadplekken creëren, zodat je bij aankomst later op de avond niet nog drie kwartier moet wachten om de wagen te verplaats nadat deze weer compleet is volgeladen voor de volgende ochtend. Ik ga hier zeker vaker overnachten op doorreis.

Raindouche zorgde ervoor dat hele badkamer nat werd inclusief wastafel, kamer had geen soft close kamerdeur waardoor ik om 02.00u wakker werd door \"buren\". Kamer ( 121) lag aan de wegkant waardoor verkeersgeluid te horen was! Kort om deze vaste Valkklant was over dit filiaal minder tevreden!

Ich war beruflich für eine Nacht im Van der Valk Hotel Melle/Osnabrück.

Das Hotel ist prinzipiell gut, finde aber den Preis aktuell, aufgrund von Renovierungsarbeiten in vielen Zimmern, einfach nicht in Ordnung.
Man läuft in den Fluren durch die Baustelle. Geht bestimmt auch besser.

Bei den Zimmern zur Straßenseite hin bekommt man selbst bei geschlossenen Fenstern den Straßenlärm zum Teil mit. Also besser ein Zimmer zur Gartenseite buchen.
Das Frühstück ist sehr gut und reichhaltig. Top.

Das Hotel liegt zwar direkt an der Autobahn und wer unbedingt mit offenen Fenster schlafen muss/will, sollte auf jeden Fall ein Zimmer zum Garten buchen. Sonst ist es ein Hotel das außergewöhnlich ist, sowohl von der Ausstattung, als auch von der Freundlichkeit des Personals. Ich war im Rahmen eines Workshops da und fand den Aufenthalt sehr gut und würde jederzeit wieder kommen.

Ich erwähne auszugsweise nur die negativen Aspekte, nicht jene als positiv, die für ein 4-Sterne Hotel selbstverständlich sind. Die Angaben beziehen sich konkret auf Zi 214 comfort plus. Die Heizung war m.E. defekt, da der Heizkörper unabhängig von der Reglereinstellung kalt blieb und die Zimmertemperatur max. 19 Grad C betrug. Die Rezeptionistin versuchte vergeblich sie in Gang zu bringen,um dann zu erklären, die Zimmertemperatur wäre zentral auf diese niedrige Temperatur festgelegt, weil die Gäste lieber im Kühlen schlafen würden. Die maximal erzielbare Beleuchtungshelligkeit war schummrig, abgesehen davon, das eine Lampe nur noch aus den 2 Stromkabel bestand. Das zweiteilige Bett ist nicht für Menschen geeignet, die sich nachts öfters drehen. die finden sich dann nämlich irgendwann auf dem Fussboden wieder. Wirklich ekelig aber waren 2 Dinge: Im Wasserkocher befand sich Wasser, das einem Feuchtbiotop zur Ehre gereicht hätte. Die beiden Wassergläser müssen vom Aspekt und Geruch her mit dem feuchten Reinigungslampen gereinigt worden sein, mit dem auch der Rest des Mobilars gereinigt worden ist. Der Rest sind dagegen Peanuts: nix Roomservice, nix a la carte, Restaurant, nix... Möglicherweise Personalausfall. Die Rezeptionistin hat jedenfalls ihr Bestes gegeben. Wenn man Besseres gewöhnt ist, kann man den Aufenthalt als kleines Abenteuer verbuchen.

In allem soweit zufrieden, saubere Zimmer, schönes großes Badezimmer mit einer Badewanne und Dusche das fand ich super und das Personal war auch sehr freundlich. Den einzige Minuspunkt gebe ich für den mini TV im Zimmer, einfach nicht mehr Zeitgemäß. Ist aber kein großes Minus, eher meckern auf hohem Niveau.

für die Einrichtung und den Komfort zu teuer

Ich habe das Hotel gebucht, weil es von meinem Einsatzort keine lange Anfahrt war. Angekommen im Zimmer war ich jedoch zunächst von der Größe überrascht, das Zimmer ist wirklich groß... aber auch einfach mal gefüllt mit 1-2 modernen Gegenständen, wie den Sesseln, aber der Rest der Einrichtung hat schon bessere Tage gesehen.
Ausgerichtet war das Zimmer Richtung Autobahn, die man aber durch die isolierenden Fenster kaum wahrnehmen konnte.
Im Badezimmer ging es weiter mit der \"alten\" Einrichtung, es erinnerte sehr an die guten alten amerikanischen Badezimmer, die viel prunk versprühen wollten, aber es über die Zeit nicht geschafft haben. Eine Dusche NUR mit Kopfbrause ist nicht mehr zeitgemäß - eine Badewanne brauche ich im Zimmer nicht unbedingt, war aber vorhanden.

Ausgestattet war das Zimmer im übrigen mit 3 Betten - ausgewiesen als Doppelzimmer, hatte ich es als Einzelperson belegt, um dann eine dritte Schlafmöglichkeit vorzufinden. Teilt man den Zimmerpreis durch 3 wird es vielleicht wieder interessant für den ein oder anderen - für mich immer noch zu teuer für die Lage, die Ausstattung und den Komfort.
Und da sind wir beim nächsten Punkt - ich mag es leider nicht mehr, wenn man einen 32 Zoll Fernseher vorfindet bei einem Abstand von mindestens 3 Metern zum TV. Jedes andere Hotel schafft es heutzutage einen angemessenen Fernseher zu präsentieren.
WLAN war wenigstens kostenlos und mit 11-13 Mbit/s in einem guten Wert bei der Menge an Zimmern und Gästen.

Comfortable spacious room, well isolated from nearby noisy highway. Nice garden with a small pond. We even spotted a couple of hares on the lawn.
The Roots restaurant offers fantastic food.
We really like returning there every time we drive across Germany.

Die Freundlichkeit auch das unser großer Schäferhund mit ins Restaurant durfte, war einfach großartig! !!!
Die Zimmer sind extra gesichert. ...heißt ohne Karte ist der Zugang zum Flur nicht möglich! !!
Einrichtung und Sauberkeit 1a mit Sternchen
Den Brunch am Sonntag können wir nur empfehlen

Handig tussenstop

Hotel ligt direct aan de afslag Melle van de snelweg Hengelo-Hannover-Berlijn. Met ramen dicht merk je daar niets van. Prettig restaurant en goed ontbijt, zoals we bij Van der Valk gewend zijn. Verbeterpuntjes zijn er ook: op sommige punten is wat slijtage zichtbaar, de douche heeft een vaste douchekop (dus geen handdouche) en de lift heeft weinig of geen detectie of er iets of iemand tussenstaat. Al met al wel een goede tussenstop als je met de auto naar het oosten van Duitsland of verder reist.

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiter. So ein Hunde-freundliches Hotel habe ich in meinem ganzen Leben noch nicht kennen lernen dürfen. Würde jederzeit wieder dort übernachten!

Het verblijf was een cadeau voor onze moeder. Het viel erg tegen. De verbouwing in het hotel was niet gemeld bij aankomst. Het ontbijt was op de 2de verdieping in een veel te kleine zaal. Wij werden naar een ander zaaltje verderop gebracht. Onze moeder is slecht ter been en zij moest veel verder lopen. Tenslotte was het ontbijt niet van de kwaliteit die wij gewend zijn bij van der Valk. Een matig ontbijt in een sfeerloze omgeving.
