Great location and breakfast - okay room

- fantastic to get picked up at the train station by the hotel staff. They were there and waiting for us when our train arrived and helped with the luggage

- evening bar had a gentleman playingnthe piano which was very nice. Other bar and staffvservice was just average.

- great breakfast with coffee waiting each morning in decent size pots. Foor selection and quality were a great positive. They will even make you a lunch to go for hiking if you request it.

- location is pefext for those looking to see the most around the park and to get in great hikes or sights. Plenty of options for bus, boat, or train for gerltting to where you are going.

- included entry to the therme (5 minute walk) was unexpexted and we used it several times.

- room was a little disappointing. Bed was comfortable; not many towels; no free plugs causing us to unplug a lamp in order to charge devices AND.. no coffee or coffee pot. Felt this was a big letdown for the price and what was expected.

Overall a great spot I would not be disappointed to stay on again.

Sehr zufrieden mit unserem Aufenthalt. Tolles sauberes Hotel mit schöner Wellness Landschaft. Waren 3 Nächte da und die Suite war ihr Geld wert… auch das zweite Superior Zimmer zum Innenhof war sehr schön. Wer Lärmempfindlich ist und mit offenen Fenster schläft sollte diese Kategorie buchen, da an der Elbe regelmäßiger Zugverkehr herrscht. Oder Ohrenstöpsel tragen… wir kommen sicher mal wieder.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful location

Wonderful hotel in a beautiful location. Take advantage of the Toskana spa, don’t leave it for check out day (it will not be complementary on that day). The room was lovely ( junior suite). Wifi was ok. Breakfast was very good, the buffet dinner was average, but ok for the price. The staff were all very nice and polite. Pool and other wellness amenities were very nice, overall- highly recommended.

This is truest a spa with health and fitness the focus. If you’re not into that totally you will miss out on the facilities. Don’t get rooms on the inner patio they are small and not air condiitioned which is ok at nite because weather is cool. Rooms facing the Elbe are spacious and air conditioned a little more expensive.

Great location for hiking and sightseeing.

4 days in Bad Schandau. Hotel is perfectly positioned for easy access to the region’s main attractions (fortress, Bastei Bridge, etc). Hotel is modern and in good condition. Breakfast buffet is excellent. Access to adjacent Therme is appreciated. Service is excellent and most people will understand English. Beware: not all rooms have AC so you have to ask for it.

The hotel itself is worthy of its five stars: The lobby is large and welcoming, the rooftop pool and spa/sauna are appropriate. However, the devil in this class is in the details:

- The towels in the rooms are super thin and not very soft. They are the same sort of towels you would get at a budget hotel.
- Even though we were two people staying in the room, they only provided us with one set of shampoo, shower gel, etc. With a day spent hiking and at the spa you clearly run out quickly and we shouldn't have had to ask for more.
- The hotel states that \"In the afternoon we invite you to tee/coffee and cake in the lobby.\" When we got to the lobby, we found out it's €5.50.
- The staff is not very accommodating. When we arrived we had to (!) provide our birth dates. The staff claimed this was a legal requirement even though on the data protection sheet it stated that only name and address were mandatory. When I prodded further, they explained that they like to do a little something if it's someone's birthday. \"Great!\" I proclaimed because I had booked the trip as a surprise birthday gift for my girlfriend. The staff however told me that they couldn't do anything because my girlfriend's birthday was three days (!) before our arrival date. Again, for a five-star hotel I would have expected more.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't go again and I can't recommend the place. The building itself is nice, clean, and modern but the staff and the lack of attention to detail brings it down.

Hotel is OK although it pretends to be upscale. Good thing was free access to the nearby Toscana water facility. What was really disappointing is very intermittent internet connection. Also, parking cost was at 50% of the day rent of the luxury car (15 euro vs 30 euro). I parked at nearby public parking at 5 euro a day.

Bad Schandau Gem!

Very clean and modern hotel. Beautiful view and balcony facing the street. They give you free access to the Toscanza Spa next door which has several indoor pools and sauna facilities, so make sure you pack a swimming suit! Great breakfast spread with eggs, meats and cheeses and lots of pastries. Great location and friendly staff. A must stay!

I loved the location of this hotel. The best way to get to the hotel is from Bad Shandau, taking the ferry across the river and getting off at the next stop, walking about 5 minutes to the hotel. The hotel was in a convenient spot and I loved the amenities of the hotel. They offered a spa, their rooms were exceptionally clean, the bathrooms were spacious, and the hotel lobby was huge. Wifi did not work so well while I was there as it was slow and kept disconnecting in certain areas, but the overall hotel was very nice.

Grand Hotel on the Idyllic Elbe River

After arriving by train in Bad Schandau, we took the ferry across the river to the hotel and checked in. That afternoon we took the ferry back to the train station and went 2 stops on the local train to another ferry to hike up to the famously impressive Bastei Bridge. Upon returning to our hotel we were pleasantly surprised to find a large bottle of sparkling water and fruit in our room. The next day we rode the Historical Lift in town to an amazing 18km hiking trail with steep narrow stairs and ladders that led to absolutely amazing views of sandstone rock formations and the surrounding countryside. We enjoyed a tasty lunch at the mountain inn on the trail before ending the hike in Schmilka and returning to the hotel by ferry, train and ferry again. On our final day we took the Historic tram in town to another amazing hike that ended in a cliff-top rock formation of explorable caves and crevices.

A newly renovated hotel combining old and new Architectural styles. Lady at the front desk spoke no english and had to call over over another colleague, but they were very helpful none the less. Room didn't have air-con and did get a little hot for me. I opened the window which helped and there was little road noise fro traffic.

Fantastic find

I was very lucky to find Hotel Elbresidenz last minute (literally the night before!) when I had second thoughts about the other hotel I had previously booked. I am so very glad I made the switch! Elbresidenz was spectacular. Very clean, very modern. There are three restaurants on site and a full spa. What more could you want? :) The hotel is located directly across from the ferry, so it couldn't be easier to find.

There is a bus that runs directly to Bastei Bridge, or there is the local train to take you over to Rathen, where you can hike up to the bridge.

I read some reviews that complained about the noise of the train, but my room was facing the inner courtyard, and even with the window open at night I did not hear the train. In fact, with the window closed I didn't hear anything at all!

5 star spa resort

Wonderful hotel - lived up to its 5 star status. staff were exceedingly helpful and very pleasant to deal with. The spa has a pool and 3 different saunas: 40 degrees (high humidity), 60 degrees (aromatic) and 80 (or more) degrees. Rooms facing the Elbe river are more expensive but have wonderful views of the ferry and paddle steamer boat traffic. This is former East Germany so most local older adults do not speak English as there are relatively few English speaking tourists in this town of 3,000. The hotel staff is relatively young and very fluent in English. Note the town is subject to a relatively major flood every 10 or 30 years or so.

Das Hotel ist einfach super. Ein hervorragendes Frühstück mit sehr gutem Service leitet den Tag ein. Sehr gut war der eingedeckt Tisch an meinem Geburtstag. Ein tolles kleines Geschenk bereitete mir viel Freude. Die Mitarbeiter an der Rezeption sind sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Wünschenswert wäre eine Tee- und Kaffeestation auf dem Zimmr, das ansonsten gut ausgestattet ist. Auch das Bad mit 2 Waschbecken ist sehr gut ausgestattet.

das Zimmer war super sauber und für 3 Personen völlig ausreichend. Störend fanden wir es, dass die Bahn mit Personen- und Güterverkehr ständig fuhren. Der teurere Aufpreis mit Blick auf die Elbe hat somit den Charme verloren. Das Personal war zuvorkommend und immer höflich. Bei bestimmten Wanderrouten gab sogar von Einheimischen-Angestellten gute Tipps. Das Hotel liegt zentral, Bus, Bahn und Fähre direkt vor Ort- perfekt.

Zimmerausstattung für ein 5*haus lässt zu wünschen übrig: Betten etwas durchgelegen, keine Seifenschale/Ablage am Waschbecken, keine (n-)espresso maschine, keine Steckdosen am Schreibtisch, zu wenig vorhang, um die Fensterfront komplett zu verdunkeln..
Das Essen in der Bari muss man nicht unbedingt haben, da ist noch viel Luft nach oben.

Sauberkeit Hotel sehr gut. Gute Lage des Hotels als Ausgangspunkt für Ausflüge und freie Sicht auf die Elbe.
Das ala Card Restaurant war top, sowohl Bedienung als auch das Essen. Im Gegensatz dazu war das Buffet für 37€ sehr ernüchternd und ich würde es nicht weiter empfehlen.
Das Personal gesamt ist freundlich, leider manchmal mit einem überforderten Eindruck. Das ging leider beim Einchecken schon los (woran auch immer es lag).
Beim Frühstück ist die Platzsuche jedem Gast selbst überlassen, was dazu führt, dass an einem 4-er Tisch 1 Person allein sitzt und mehrere Personen dann suchen müssen. Hotels in Urlaubergebieten weisen die Gäste ein und können so koordinieren, als Tipp. Teilweise waren die jungen! Damen mehr mit tratschen beschäftigt als die Tische frei zu machen.
In der Bar war ein Barkeeper bis 21 Uhr allein. Er war stets freundlich und fleißig, aber den Andrang konnte er allein nicht bewältigen. Mit der 2. Bedienung (aus dem Restaurant?) wurde es dann besser.

Das Hotel ist sehr schön mit einer tollen Gartenterrasse an der Elbe. Die Therme, deren Nutzung im Preis inbegriffen ist sowie Hallenbad und Sauna sind sehr schön. Schade, daß es im Zimmer keinen Kaffee-/Teebereiter gibt und in der Minibar nicht wenigstens einfache Getränke bereit stehen. Gläser sind vorhanden.

Insgesamt bin ich mit der Unterkunft zufrieden. Ich würde mir allerdings etwas mehr Wasser zu Begrüßung im Zimmer wünschen. Es gibt lediglich eine kleine Flasche Mineralwasser. Das wird ein bisschen kleinlich. Der Bademantel in deinem Zimmer war ein zwei Stellen zerrissen. Das Zimmer war sauber und funktional, lädt allerdings nicht zu längerem Verweilen ein.

Achtung Kostenfalle bei Buchung von 3 Personen im Zimmer. Die Zimmer werden nicht dementsprechend vorbereitet. Erst nach Rückfrage an der Rezeption wird einem mit Zusatzgebühren ein Zustellbett + Handtücher ins Zimmer gebracht. Dieses hat fürchterlich gequietscht, so das wir die Matratze lieber auf den Boden zum schlafen gelegt haben. Bei der Wahl des Zimmers sollte man auch beachten, das gegenüber vom Hotel eine Eisenbahnlinie verläuft. Dadurch entsteht viel Krach. Wenn man es lieber etwas ruhiger mag, sollte man ein Zimmer zum Innenhof nehmen. Personen die etwas eingeschränkt in der Beweglichkeit sind, sollten unbedingt ein Zimmer mit Dusche nehmen. Das Duschen in der Badewanne ist sehr beengt und es gibt auch keine Haltegriffe um sicher ein und aussteigen zu können.
Beworbener Park- und Gepäckservice gab es auch nicht.
Die Therme die man kostenfrei besuchen kann, ist ca. 150m vom Hotel entfernt. Der Weg vom Hotel zur Therme führt über einen öffentlichen Weg. Muss man mögen, wenn man für alle sichtbar im Bademantel durch die Stadt läuft. Man kann sich aber auch in der Therme umziehen.
Highlight des Urlaubs war das Frühstück. Große Auswahl und eine super Live Cooking Station. Der Koch hatte tolle Ideen für abwechslungsreiche Omeletts. Das Personal war auch sehr aufmerksam im Restaurantbereich.
Leider steht ansonsten im Hotel nicht der Gast im Vordergrund, sondern die Belange des Hotels.
Über Expedia buchen wir sehr gern wieder. Hervorragender Kundenservice!

Sehr schönes Hotel mit tollen Welnessbereich, einer angenehmen Bar, sehr freundlichem Personal und einem tollen Ausblick auf die Elbe. Das Frühstück war hervorragend.
Man kommt vom Hotel aus schnell überall hin, ob mit der Fähre, dem Rad oder dem PKW. Man kann im Hotel was essen, aber kommt auch zu Fuß schnell in naheliegende Restaurants.
Die Therme ist fußläufig und im Preis. Wir hatten ein paar wunderschöne Tage.

Gerne wieder

Wir haben als Familie eine Nacht in dem Hotel verbracht. Das Personal war sehr freundlich. Das Zimmer war top und auch der Wellnessbereich war gut. Am Abend gab es ein Themen-Buffet Eine Reise durch Frankreich. Wo mal wir nicht so gerne Buffet essen, war das Essen sehr gut.

Wir haben uns sehr wohlgefühlt und waren sehr traurig, dass wir nur ein Wochenende gebucht hatten und nicht länger geblieben sind. Das Personal war durchgehend freundlich und professionell, alles sehr sauber, modern und einfach schön. Nur Bad Schandau selbst hat im Herbst/ Winter nicht viel zu bieten. Aber dafür haben wir den Wellnessbereich des Hotels gerne genutzt ;)

Das Hotel ist schön und modern, mit einer guten Ausstattung und angenehmer Atmosphäre. Bedingt durch die Lage (im Elbtal) ist es nicht wirklich ruhig. Ich habe von einem Zimmer mit Blick auf den Marktplatz mit sehr schönem Blick (aber an Durchgangsstraße gelegen) in ein Zimmer zum ruhigen Innenhof (ohne Ausblick) gewechselt. Das Zimmer war funktional, dabei aber auch recht gemütlich eingerichtet. Der Wellnessbereich ist recht schön und großzügig. Zum richtigen Relaxen besucht man aber besser die neben dem Hotel gelegene Therme. Bei meinem Aufenthalt war der Eintritt für die Therme im Zimmerpreis des Hotels inclusive. Das Frühstück ist sehr reichhaltig und lässt kaum Wünsche offen. Das Personal im Hotel an der Rezeption, beim Frühstück und im Wellnessbereich ist aufmerksam und sehr freundlich.
Einen Wermutstropfen gibt es dann leider doch. Das Zimmer war bei Bezug nicht so gründlich geputzt, wie man es sich wünscht. Darum hier auch nur drei von 5 Punkten.
Insgesamt war es ein sehr angenehmer Aufenthalt und ich würde wieder kommen.

Schön, aber zum guten Schlafen schlecht

Eigentlich ein schönes Hotel, vielleicht etwas zu groß. Das Frühstücksbüffet hat uns sehr gefallen. Leider konnten wir keine Nacht gut schlafen: keine ausreichende Verdunkelung, viel zu warm (22 Grad) in den Zimmern und die Barmusik war zu deutlich zu hören im Zimmer.
Wir würden dieses Hotel daher nicht mehr wählen, da uns ein guter Schlaf am wichtigsten ist.
