No pool or sunbathing terrace as advertised

Outdoor pool and terrace were unavailable for guests to use during our stay 27.6.24 - 01.07.24. When we complained and asked for a discount duty manager refused to speak to us directly and relayed message that the pool was only seasonal and we were out of season - via the receptionist, a down and outright lie as the owner later advised us they’d had issues with the pool and its opening in May had been delayed. Duty manager would not address us personally. Bar service very slow and barman difficult to find. Generally staff unattentive and unhelpful. However having spoken to owner by coincidence he arranged manager Mirela to assist us with problem, she arranged for us to have free breakfast on day 2 and check out with full refund for nights 3-5 made via hotel.com allowing us to book an alternative hotel with pool and sunbathing terrace. Refund processing notification was received within days. We would have expected hotel to have informed us prior to visit that pool was under maintenance as this was main reason we chose this city centre hotel opposed to our usual boutique hotel Casa del Sole

Let's say the resort still harks back to a time decades ago. On check-in, the young staff members are rather unfriendly and their hearts are just not in it. They ask if you are sure that you really want a \"matrimonial\" room (I know a little Romanian and understand that this is the correct term). They then run through their spiel through the hotel policies and facilities in 10 seconds as fast as possible. Customer service is non-existent. If you are a girl, you may get good service.

The room itself is very dated. Air conditioning was functional but not able to bring the temperature of the room down.

Wifi was very weak and slow.

Two out three jacuzzis/spas were broken. It is obvious no money is being spent on this hotel as I can see in reviews one year ago that they were broken then too and they will probably be broken indefinitely.

Towels are not provided for the swimming pool. You are meant to either ask for them at the front desk (where they are incredulous that you would ask for towels) or just take your bath towels. The towels are a limited commodity as we took some towels down and some guy stole our towel and started using it as he didn't have one - proving why the hotel should provide free pool towels for guests.

The hotel seems to stuck in the 90s or even earlier, relying on its former glories. It desperately needs renovation and staff training.

Oh, and there is a nightclub downstairs.

We only stayed here one night, as was heading to Belgrade early the next day.
Location is good, its less than a 10 minute walk to St Georges Cathedral and also a short walk to Victory Square.
We didn't stay long enough to use the swimming pool or many other facilities.

OK but much improvement needed

The hotel needs a facelift to live up to today's four star standards. The rooms are comfortable enough but the air conditioning doesn't work really well so watch out should you come in the summer as in May we were boiling. As the hotel is on a main avenue opening the window meant really loud traffic. The entrance could be more welcoming, it feels like the entrance to a conference hall and has little life doesn't care to promote culture or show the vibrancy of the city. Beds are semi comfortable but my biggest issue is that you can still smell the dust and smoke from when the hotel used to be a smoking hotel several decades ago. So if you are sensitive to dust and smoke be warned.

Amazing place to stay. There is something downstairs they call a nightclub which is actually a strip club. Just an fyi. Found that out because the hotel bar closes as 11 PM And the front desk will tell you that you can grab a drink downstairs.

I stay every summer at this place, for about one week. The best parts are the two swimming pools, the gym, the buffet breakfast, and the nice, inviting staircase (in hotels in the US the staircase is often hidden; everyone is forced to use the elevator). The rooms look very nice and clean. There's coffee in the room, but only instant coffee, which seems standard in Europe; there is some inconsistency in how many packages of instant coffee they give you, some days its one package, other days you get two packages, seems to be up to the staff. The part that irks me every year is that there is a single trash can in the room, and that is small, and hidden behind the bathroom door. The location is really great, a short walk from the city center, and easy access to the airport.

I would highly recommend this place. Breakfast buffet was great. We tried to find a place near by Nd most cafes only serve coffee in the morning. Room was clean and beds very comfortable. Centrally located including a money changer across the street and a full grocery/market next door.

We were really looking forward to our 25th Anniversary Spa break Monday to Friday break, but the hotel was having renovation at the Spa, indoor pool outside pool and in the corridor just up from your room on the 7th floor during the day, drilling, banging builders looking in at the pool, spa every time they walked past. The night club was only fit for single men, not for families/women, as it was pole dance \" strictly adult only \" club and not the night club to dance with your partner as I was expecting. We even rung the hotel to check no building works on our dates and was told they would be finished, prior to making the booking due to their website comments. We complained during our stay about the constant noise each day and asked why had not been informed or notices put up. Would not have minded the odd day but everyday was a bit much, not the relaxing spa break we had hoped for. The hotel were not interested in our complaints about the noise or the building works affecting our stay. Even the maid woke us up on the Wednesday at 7.30AM TALKING OUTSIDE OUR ROOM FOR 10 MINUTES. No we were not happy, even though the hotel itself was a nice place if no building works were taking place. It would be a hotel we would go back to if there was no building noise or building repair work going on..

Historic hotel in beautiful Timisoara

Really good hotel with great facilities right in the heart of Timisoara. The hotel is within 5 minutes walking distance of old town Timisoara which is one the great undiscovered beauties of Europe. The hotel itself has some rooms which are very high up and offer magnificent views across the city. The only negative comment I have to make is that the outdoor swimming pool was closed for renovation as of May 2017. This wasn't too much of an issue as there is an indoor pool with sauna and gym facilities.

The hotel is within walking distance of everything in the city centre, and has a spacious lobby and nice spa, pool and gym. Staff are helpful, rooms are clean. Wifi is fast, but you occasionally have to disconnect and reconnect to keep it working.

The only problem was late-night bass sounds from the club downstairs on New Year's Eve - probably an unusual occurrence!

This hotel comes with its own strip club.

The hotel was adequate, the room was clean & comfortable. The staff were efficient but not friendly. Overall, we felt the hotel was a bit seedy, predominantly due to the strip club on the ground floor which is advertised as a nightclub! This was disapointing as the hotel bar shut at midnight and we felt very uncomfortable drinking in the 'nightclub' once we'd realised what it actually was.

Modern hotel, unbeatable location.

Modern western hotel with good sauna and indoor pool. Room was modern and clean, bathroom expecially good.
Unbeatable location for Timisoara.
Desk staff were useful but no local maps available.
Music in night club was loud until 3am on Saturday night.
The heating/aircon in the room was avtually just heating. We found the room got very hot, even in October and left the window open all day to make it bearable for the second night.

The staff is pleasant and the hotel itself is on the higher end in terms of places in Timisoara. The beds, pillows and linens could use an upgrade and the cleaning staff can learn to vacuum under the bed. They also need to limit the in-room smoking or improve their ventilation. I woke up each morning to my room smelling like smoke.

In die Jahre gekommenes Hotel. Baustelle direkt vor dem Zimmer - kein arbeiten möglich! Personal wirkt unmotiviert und eher unfreundlich. Seit 10Jahren gehe ich in dieses Hotel aber es hat sich leider zum Negativen entwickelt. Freies Nutzen des tollen Fitnessstudios ist ein Highlight. Für den nächsten Termin in Timiş werde ich ein anders Hotel wählen.
