Located in a former Monastery , it is in a very peaceful setting. We only stayed one night. It would be a place to just relax. Plenty of trails to walk on.

This was is a large cloister, to a large degree converted to a hotel and conference centre, while maintaining some space and certainly the aura of its original purpose. There are still a few nuns resident in a private section of the property, and we had the opportunity to chat with one of them to learn much about the history of the place. The hotel conversion was very well done, without destroying the historical significance of the property. The rooms were comfortable, but not very spacious. There are large grounds for walks, and even a charming little animal farm that kids would enjoy. The onsite chapel is well worth a visit. The onsite restaurant is a bit formal in its presentation, but nonetheless friendly and welcoming. It's menu focuses on local produce and cuisine.

My wife and I stayed there for 3 nights as a base for driving around the region. The place is fantastic, very nice breakfast. As the hotel is located in a very small village, we ended up having dinner there a couple of times and the food was well prepared. The services were good as well , my only negative remark is that the room could have a bigger bed and mini-bar.

Fantastic location - beautiful property.

The breakfast is the best buffet I have ever had and would visit only for that!

Rooms are clean, very comfortable and well designed leaving some original features, but providing modern comfort.

Great relaxing hotel

The area is great for relaxing or for a nice bike ride in the countryside. We tried to explore the church and monastery but I wish that there was some type of tour or brochure we could see to explain its historical significance. The inside of the church looks beautiful and would have been a worthwhile experience. As it stands, it's just a building attached to a hotel.

A Gem!

We loved Kloster Holzen. The grounds were beautiful, the rooms were spotless, the wifi was fast, and the church on premises was absolutely breathtaking. The dinner and breakfast were excellent and reasonably priced. The rooms were a surprisingly modern juxtaposition to the historic grounds and buildings, but it really worked! This would be great for a wedding (which they had one on site while we were there) or a relaxing getaway. Only drawback was some echoing hallways, but very minor point with no issues of rowdy, late night guests.

A beautiful property in a beautiful place. Dinner and breakfast were both excellent. Room was fine, but there were a couple details overlooked (used tissue paper and half consumed bottle of water in room as we arrived...). The pillows were simply too thin for what North Americans are used to

The Kloster is a modern hotel attached to an abbey. The hotel has been lovingly modernized and is a skilful blend of original features with modern interior design. Our room was comfortable. The bathroom was huge and the shower was the best!

Unique and very nice hotel in the country.

This hotel is connected to a beautiful Church (you must see it if you stay there). The hotel itself is very nicely done, with good size rooms and very nice and large bathrooms. Beware that not all rooms have Wifi (some have wired internet). Breakfast was good. The hotel is not in a major city but since we had a car, it didn't matter to us. We highly recommend this hotel for a relaxing stay. You should also take the time to walk around the grounds.

Fantastic hotel if you like the countryside

The hotel is very nice and original, but expensive. It is new and clean but we had some small problem. 1) Internet didn't work. 2) the waiter of the restaurant didn't want to give us something to drink even if the kitchen was closing 15 minutes after (and the restaurant, that was still full, close 1 hour after). 3) we paid 10 euros for the bed of the baby. 4) Our room was very nice but in it was in a separate building and in case of rain it could be a problem to go to the breakfast room in the main building. All the rest was perfect, especially if you like the countryside and the silence. Last thing: the breakfast was very rich and of good quality.

Wonderful, wonderful experience

We made a last minute reservation, knowing nothing abouth the hotel or it's location in advance. Everything about the hotel was an absolute delight . A very old monastery, it only became a hotel in 2011. We were given an absolutely enormous corner bedroom with windows that overlooked the extensive gardens on both sides. The bathroom was larger than many other hotel bedrooms too. The adjacent restaurant building was a beautiful cloistered room full of character and both the food and service was excellent. Adjacent to the main building is the original chapel, which also is magnificent. Although three star the hotel is worthy of at least four stars and is incredible value for money. We fully intend to return, and for more that just one night, using the hotel as a base from which to tour the local area. In conclusion, I really cannot recommend this wonderful hotel too highly and would urge any travellers in the area motto overlook it - you will not be disappointed !

Mooi hotel op een super locatie, met heel veel potentie. Maar de ervaring vonden we niet goed. Vanaf half 7 hebben de kerkklokken tot 7 uur bijna non-stop geklonken. Was ons niet verteld dat dit ging gebeuren, en biedt op z’n minst oordoppen aan in de kamer. En als je denkt: als je in een klooster verblijft, kun je dat verwachten.. ja, we hadden verwacht dat de kerkklok de tijd zou aangeven, maar niet een half uur lang zou luiden (om half 7 ‘s ochtends). Ontbijt ook niet zo best, broodjes droog en de croissantjes mag je geen croissantjes noemen (deeghompjes noemden wij ze voor de grap). Theekannetjes waren wel leuk! Naastgelegen restaurant was wel erg goed.

Leider derzeit vilee Mücken aufgrund der kürzlichen Überschwemmungen. Zimmer haben Mückengitter, so dass man bei offenem Fenster ruhig schlafen kann.

Unieke locatie op een mooie afgelegen plek, voor een prima verblijf. Goede en ruime kamers. Geen modern sanitair, maar functioneert en is schoon. Je kunt prima eten op locatie voor het diner. Inbegrepen ontbijt is uitstekend. Gekozen vanwege de mooie locatie, en niet al te ver van het treinstation, voor verbinding met Augsburg en München.

Genussvoll übernachten und speisen im Kloster

Schon seit meiner Kindheit war ich fasziniert von den beiden Kirchtürmen hoch über der Ebene, wenn ich mit Bahn oder Auto von Augsburg nach Donauwörth unterwegs war. Jetzt bot sich die Gelegenheit näher- und einzutreten.
Ein tolles Haus, sehr gut restauriert, mit langen Gängen, mit einem sehr schönen Innenhof, einer mit einzelnen kleinen Kunstwerken überbordenden Barockkirche, mit einem Kräutergarten - so, wie man sich eben ein Kloster vorstellt. Das ist Kloster Holzen.
Die Mönchszellen von einst gibt es nicht mehr. Es sind angenehme Zimmer, nicht riesig groß, aber ausreichend.
Der Klostergasthof bietet eine sehr gute Küche, spezielle Wünsche werden freundlich entgegengenommen und erfüllt.
Ein besonderes Erlebnis war das Osterfrühstück: Vielfältig, Produkte und Angebote von hoher Qualität; und was besonders gefällt - mit regionalem Bezug. Erstklassig!
Es gibt nur einen Nachteil: Es ist 500 km von zu Hause entfernt.

This is a lovely hotel with old world charm. The church, which is integrated into the old building, is one of the most beautiful I have seen on the inside.
The breakfast area is delightful and the quality of food outstanding - fresh made bread, wonderful meats and cheeses and fresh coffee and tea.

Hotel ubicado en un monasterio. Limpio, agradable y con una arquitectura excelente. Las habitaciones son amplias y cómodas para trabajar. El entorno está muy bien, y permite dar paseos por zonas de bosques y ríos. Tiene un restaurante muy bonito. El desayuno es variado y abundante. El wifi funcionaba bien. Recomendable para alojarse cerca de Donauwörth si tienes coche.

Außergewöhnliches Hotel in sehr schöner Lage .
Zimmer modern eingerichtet, aber Einzelzimmer mit 1 m Betten verbreiten halt leider den Charme einer Jugendherberge.
Ein entsprechendes französisches Bett wäre wünschenswert auch als Einzelzimmer.

Sehr schöne, beeindruckende Anlage in Top-Zustand geschmackvoll & modern eingerichtet, viele Parkplätze, freundliches Team, gutes Frühstück. Wenn nicht das nur kleine Zimmer im einfachen IKEA-Stil gewesen wäre. Da stimmt das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis leider nicht. 10-15% weniger und ich hätte alles mit :-)) gewertet.

Hôtel isolé de tout. Augsburg est la première ville proche (40 km)

Un seul restaurant dans les parages (celui de l'hôtel) dans lequel nous avons du négocier pour manger car il etait plein (pas complet). Culotté de refuser des personnes de l'hôtel alors que c'est le seul restaurent dans les parages !
Prix et nourriture locale corrects cependant.
Chambre correcte, vue sympa sur les jardins, cependant petite et salle de bain ouverte sur la chambre (à 1metre du lit)
Petit déjeuner très basique, pas de produits frais
Salle de petit déjeuner triste et sombre
Cependant les étages sont beaux, spacieux et Avec la deco de l'époque du couvent.
Parking extérieur en face de l'hôtel.
Église de l'hôtel petite Mais Avec beaucoup de charme. Des nonnes se baladent la journée dans l'enceinte.
Absolument rien à faire à proximité.

Stort og meget rent værelse. Lidt utraditionel indretning af toilet og bad og vaskeområde, men virkede meget fint. God sideindgang, hvis man ikke lige ønsker at komme ind gennem receptionen. Dejlig gårdhave og fin lille park og springvand på den ene side. Meget stille og roligt. Spændende og flotte bygninger - især den gamle kirke. Virkelig imponerende alter og udsmykning. Og vi så nonner anvende området, hvilket vi fik dyb respekt for.

Hotellet var väldigt fint. De hade 2 st bröllop så vi blev lite undanskuffade men det var ok. Stället var väldigt fint med mycket gamla anor. Det enda negativa var att kyrkklockorna ringde varje hel och halv timme hela dygnet.

Nous n'y étions que de passage pour une nuit mais nous y serions bien resté d'avantage. Tout est nickel, rien à redire. Nous avons pu l'année dans l'auberge à 22h, avons été servis avec beaucoup d'amabilité. C'était très bon et vraiment raisonnable au niveau prix. A découvrir dans hésitation.

Die Übernachtung in der Klosteranlage ist schon was außergewöhnliches. Das Hauptgebäude machte einen recht guten Eindruck, hier befinden sich Veranstaltungsräume, eine Bar (geschlossene Gesellschaft, als ich da war) und auch der Frühstücksraum.

Mein Zimmer im Torhaus war nicht ganz so komfortabel. Die geringe Deckenhöhe (ich hatte noch zwei Handbreit Luft über dem Kopf) war das eine, knarzende Dielen und ein sehr wackeliges Bett das andere.

Vermisst habe ich einen Fitnessraum, für den auf dem großen Anwesen sicher Platz wäre. Eigentlich gehe ich ja lieber ne Runde laufen, aber auf dem Land gelegen und bewölkt, war es rund um das Kloster einfach zu dunkel um sicher zu laufen.

A nice and a interesting hotel

A room in this hotel is from the beginning two small rooms, everyone for a monk or a nun, and then the rooms have been merged together, which has resulted in a small bedroom and a large bathroom.

The bed was comfortable, however the bed sheet was too small to cover the mattress the whole night. No refrigerator nor safety box in the room. We booked half board and had a three course dinner in the evening. Unfortunately, it was disappointing. I don't know how it was possible, but the dishes were surprisingly tasteless. The taste was not bad nor good. Just only tasteless! At the menu one of the dishes was cooked meat with baked potatoes but we got fried potatoes.

The hotel, a monastery, is beautifully situated at a hill with beautiful surroundings. To recommend? Yes, absolutely. Interesting and nice. Good breakfast, kind staff and a fast Internet; 50 Mbit down and 11 up. But avoid the restaurant!

einfach mal kurz entschleunigen

tolle, einfach aber schöne Zimmer und ein sehr schönes neues Bad.
wundervolle Umgebung und einfach nur Natur und Ruhe,
Man entschleunigt sofort beim Eintreffen.
Auch das Frühstück ist umfangreich und frisch. Jeder findet was für seinen Geschmack.
Sehr zu empfehlen ist auch die Klosterschänke.

Stylisch in der Möblierung, aber umpraktisch in Details (Platzierung der Lichtschalter, kein Jackenhaken, kein Kofferständer oder eingebaute Ablagefläche für Gepäck, stylischer aber unpraktischer \"Stuhl\" = Hocker ohne Lehne, funzeliger Strahler in der Dusche dito in der Toilette welche auch nicht mit beheizt wird. Sehr gutes Bett, aber schlecht zu bedienende funzelige Nachtischlampen, kein Handyempfang (dicke Mauern)
